I think MC and ML do suit each other better compared to the Sect Master. His ending broke my heart too but when I was reading about how the MC was turned into a puppet and taken back to the lone peak I couldn't help but feel intense pity toward him. He's such a warm, gentle boy and it just felt so sad for him to be isolated in every way like that. He feels like someone who needs to be bathed in love and care, to gently glow in happiness. I disagree that Master Zhongli is a petty and vengeful person, it's just that his EQ isn't very high and he is very strict. Too strict and inflexible for the MC imo. He was learning near the end but his learning curve was taking too slow compared to ML. ML has his yandere moments but he was under demonic possession and though he does have his shortcomings, he takes care and listens to our MC. He isn't strict with him and even when he is, he takes care not to go too far and that's the greatest difference between him and the sect master.

Though I do wish Master Zhongli's ending wasn't so sad. No one deserves an ending like that. I really hope someone writes a good fanfic for him somewhere.

xue danrong. he's been there literally since the first chapter.

zhong li yueshi... the other promising candidate I was talking about. if it ain't the second lead syndrome, god damn it... but he really deserves better, and HE WENT THROUGH A DELICIOUS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT THANKS TO MC. I mean - I know. he wasn't completely a saint, either, back then. but I can't help but go soft for him after reading the extra chapter about him! T___T

MC and ML got married. ML is very devoted to MC. he's like every ML you know: cold, but only warm to MC. obssessive. possessive, blah blah. you'll like him, though, but you might also prefer zhong li yueshi to him... however, I'm happy MC ended with ml. out of everyone, he's the best candidate for me.

But his father (Li Yeye), that big devil, was not easy to deal with. After all, when he just met Xue Danrong with one look, he tied Xue Danrong up. (In original timeline) He also intended to r*pe him. In the end, he didn’t succeed because Xue Danrong stabbed his heart from the back. But this big devil did not die even when he was stabbed in the heart. It was clear that his cultivation level was high.

Li Yeye turns MC into snake, holding him hostage. Later on he transforms MC into ML's appearance and mol*sts him to demonstrate to the ML just what he would to to him.

The Sect Master is literally the most selfish suitor imho. He forced things on MC and his ideals on ML. MC is very lazy which is his bad, but he literally physically harmed MC and said it was all for MC's sake. MC was traumatised, and all he wants is to run away! The sect master separated the ML and MC repeatedly and forced ML to blacken! Even the extra doesnt makes me like him.

The ML was poisoned with snake venom which makes him clings to MC. His master has detained him and clear the venom but later, the ML is still attracted to the MC. When his feelings grew, the masters and even MC said he was confused and still affected by the venom. He was then 'treated' again and even his memories is sealed by the sect master. But ofc he falls in love agains with the MC but soon separated by an accident. He got paranoid and depression during this time. When they were reunited again, the sect master took MC away from him and even threaten MC to be a daoist companion with him. ML just blacken instantly. He only falls in love but everyone is forcing their ideals on the ML.

Later in the xtra, ML asked the sect master about the snake venom and the master acknowledged that he was never confused abt his feeling bcuz of venom, but the masters doesnt want him to falls in love, so they were separated, memories washed etc.. Really, Fck the sect master!

MC lost his memory

lost memory arc still bothers me, the fact that MC easily believed the chicken's words is ridiculous. If not for that chicken, MC could've ended up with Zhong Liyueshui (The sect master, not sure if it's really his name, because MTL). Honestly I feel kinda bad for all of the other suitors.

The MC is a salted fish meanwhile the characters around him where all serious good people. They are so serious and good that's why they believe MC's lie and was genuinely worried about him. In their eyes, former MC was not someone who would lie like that. For those who believe they are gullible, they aren't. The author didn't write in detail but I just guessed, like reading under the line, that's why I said it has unreliable-narrator kind of mystery and also quick-paced because author seemed to skip details that the MC didn't care about. Maybe I'm just filling in the blank with positive answer myself, but hey it ain't bad.

I also don't understand completely with the cold attitude of the junior brother who appears in the summary. What is his actual feeling towards the former shixiong (or the current MC) ?He was the original shou rumoured to end with someone else and also spoilered to be the true ML (which is a very interesting point!). But because MC didn't care enough about him (and he's dense, surprise!), there's no more detail and I like this guessing story.

Story with 'unreliable narrator' tag I've read usually have the MC later realizes that the world or people in it are not what they previously thought and they changed their perspective which also affected readers'. This story might have the MC dense about many points that readers were perfectly aware of til the end. And this story might be taken from other characters perspective a lot in the future. So this story might not qualify for that tag. idk since I only read a bit. I only use that term for my points that it felt like that in earlier chapter. Most story are usually start like that I guess.
