Transmigrated as the Stepmother of the Male Protagonist in a Campus Story

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

Jiang Jinjin transmigrated into a book, a campus story and became the stepmother of the male protagonist, and throughout the story, the description of this stepmother is very little, with a rough estimate of no more than two hundred words.

The male protagonist was sixteen years old this year which was the most rebellious period in a person’s life.

The male lead’s father was thirty-nine years old this year, mature and refined, self-sufficient and unfathomable.

He was not someone she can handle, so she slipped away.

Jiang Jinjin, who was very self-aware, was obsessed with money under the identity of Madam Zhou, but she didn’t expect that along with money, she had to manage the father and son at the same time.

Jiang Jinjin was stunned. Does father and son have some kind of weird habits. Obviously she only treated them as her tools.

Honestly? A gem, a wonderful story.

The novel where the fluff is not dog food but propper fluff fit for all.

The story of the novel was a rather comfort read for me. Or maybe it was just me being weak to handsome old gentlemen wearing gold-rimmed glasses.

... more>> The MC really changed the original plotline of the novel. The story of a son of two divorced parents, the basic high school love triangle between childhood friends, and the classic beautiful new transfer student that changes the school bully into a xueba, etc.

I really enjoyed the characters of the novel, it felt very lively to read and Zhou Yan (the stepson) is an absolute blast to be around lmao. He and MC are the perfect comedy duo in the story lololol.

The extras have brought the novel to another height in my opinion.

Spoiler

TLDR; MC and Zhou Yan, somehow, end up in the past where they met the younger version of Zhou Ming Feng. We then get a somewhat slice of life where people misunderstands the relationship between MC and Zhou Yan because they are very close and Zhou Ming Feng, who started to catch the feels, gets jealous but his son was like "listen up even if she was the only woman alive and me the only man alive, it would still be impossible. *ffs you're my dad*" It was so funny watching them treat the young Zhou Ming Feng like the old father and him going with the flow even tho confused lol.

Then we get another section where it is Zhou Ming Feng who goes to MC's past self where she died in a plane crash while going to see her boyfriend. He basically hops into the bodies of her ex-es and tries to prevent the death of the OG body.

He does it and because MC and OG owner of MC's current body exchanged souls, they basically both get a nice ending.

The other characters also get a very nice glow-up in their character models. Some are finally willing to pick up studying for a better future, some got help from MC during the direst time of their life and we're able to continue their studies, others finally let go of their old personality and delusional self to focus on other aspirations in their life.

Damn that's an all-around happy ending for me.

[collapse]

Spoiler

I believe that this needs a separate section of its own because this is damn beautiful. The last chapters of the extras are a amazing letter that Zhou Feng Ming leaves for his wife to read 20yrs from now. And... And... *cries*

"When I met you, I really began to crave time. I started to open this topic, watched it carefully, and even began to hope that people would really have reincarnation.

I hope to explore the romance of the universe with you and live many different lives.

[...] You may not see this letter until twenty years later, but that's okay. At that time, we might have more time to start an extended discussion because of this letter.

And this? In the past twenty years, I have also had a very heavy task.

For example, let you stay with me until you see this letter."

In my opinion, MC character is realistic. Some of reviewer wrote that MC is egoistic and just want to be richer, seriously... hey who doesn’t like money? Who doesn’t wanna be billionaire? And all of human beings even animals have ego. The MC’s character is so realistic and normal.

MC is smart as a woman and she is only trusting her own self. As a modern woman, never ever give your soul and heart completely to others because the result is suffering.

I like her interaction with her step son, they are... more>> like best friend. Her husband is just like other male protagonist, smart, wise, rich and also powerful.

This is a light and fluffy novel, with friendship and sweet love. <<less

Novel not recommended to read.

MC is Jiang Jinjin, an openly s*upid, selfish, and naive woman who just wants to be richer than rich.

Oh and she really enjoys staring at handsome men. The author puts tons of the Mc's h**ny thoughts into the novel, the female equivalent of h**ny teenager.

Now as for the early story:

Spoiler

MC wakes up as another her in a novel as a pretty background character. She begins to outrageously act OOC, open a store for absolutely no reason, and mess around. She is misunderstood by ML and ML's son for being nice instead of just a selfish s*um because of the author's plot armor, including tons of space wasted by the author emphasizing how pretty MC is. MC then begins a happy life except for when she complains like a spoiled rich woman about how hard it is to deal with her super handsome model like husband or how the poor rich handsome son gets no parental love. After making lots of s*upid decisions, the ML easily notices that MC is someone different and decides that it's fine to be married to her.

[collapse]

All in all, just another one of the many s*upid Mary Sue-ish novels except with the twist that MC is a s*upid selfish money grubber (who by the way starts off with extreme wealth so is in no way poor).
She openly admits she's taking advantage of others and could care less what happens to the ML and his son despite all her conveniences.

-300tril/10 Low Value and little to no romance fluff until late. <<less

enjoyable story! Honestly the romance is pretty slow but it's pretty sweet and you do get to see them develop a real genuine relationship.

talking more about the FL but hiding it in case it has spoilers:

Spoiler

I really enjoyed the FL. She had a lot of positive traits- she's sociable, friendly, and hard-working. Yes, she really loves money but it's really clearly stated that she never touches the huge sums of money/bank cards her husband gives her. The first time she spent something on one of her husbands credit cards was to buy him a shirt. Money is important to her, but she still has a sense of measure and doesn't believe in spending what isn't really hers.

lol and she still has the perspective of a normal person. The charity auction where other people are blowing huge amounts of money was a huge culture shock. She actually insisted the ML not buy anything because it would have been a waste of money. Compared to other stories with billionaire CEO MLs, she keeps pretty humble compared to the other crazy rich asians she's neighbors with.

her relationship with the ML and her stepson was awkward at first but if you suddenly transmigrated into someone else's body and had a new family how freaking realisitic would it really be to become a loving family straight away?? She certainly wasn't prepared for an instant husband and teenage step-son. Who the hell would be ready for that, I sure wouldn't.

[collapse]

it's a nice, short read and easy to MTL. Best thing about the story is that the ML and FL have a high EQ <<less

Nice, transmigration has alternate explanations for those who don’t believe in transmigration which is nice touch.

Nice slice of life with realistic expectations of people, not over the top dramatic “I hate you dad, bc you work overtime for feeding me therefore you are a villain who values money over ‘true love family connection’”

Deals with bullying and harassment by kids and adults (by recognizing it as a crime, not an interpersonal affair)

romance is low energy old people things

A nice, light, no-nonsesnse romance.

I really love the character settings and developments in this novel, it's like the author is building a very uniquely tailored personality for each one of her characters, including the extras. She can portray the childishness and immaturity of her teen characters, including ML's son's rebelliousness, and we can really feel the tension. On the other hand, she can also portray the maturity of the older characters like ML and his ex wife.

The ML's character is very mature, consistent and stable, a very uncommon one in... more>> between all these domineering-tyrant MLs hype. Sigh, this guy reminds me so much of my ex and even made me a bit regretful. <<less

Really enjoyed the family vibes in this story. It does start out fairly boring and you'd think Jiang JinJin is money-minded but no she's just very thrifty and practical in her thinking. I love her slow romance with Zhou Mingfeng and how their relationship developed. Her relationship with the son Zhou Yan is also really fun to read. I love this little family alot. Even the extras are super fun to read.

Spoiler

In this story, the ML does find out that the FL has changed but he thinks its due to schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder. This is due to the fact that oriFL has always known of the existence of FL. This plottwist was so interesting!

I also love the part where Zhou Mingfeng goes to Jiang Jinjin's real world and prevents her death so the other oriJiang JinJin in his world could transmigrate over too. And then he finds out about Jiang JinJin's many exBFs and even recites their name to her... HAHAHAHA.

A good read.

(same thing I wrote in my list) The definition of "it's nice to work with smart people" novel.

I'm kinda of flabbergasted by this one to be honest. Do you like family focused novels but then realize that the romance is always pretty weak in them? Sometimes, also the family is only the focus until we get the mediocre romance between the FL with the ehh ml. Truthfully, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how well the family interplay and the romance works out.

THe FL carries the family... more>> very well, but to be honest this book in its entirety is very "gentle". Ok, I almost dropped this at it's actual mtl ch 16 bc it felt emotionally disconnected from the father to the FL and slightly selfish to a point. However, I would definitely read to 25+ (or idk 35 if the trans breaks it up as it is already) to make your decision. I feel like if really hits a nice turning point.

It is kind of like my favorite author (if you read list 1 u know who it is) where no one of the main characters are s*upid and they all are reasonable people. Also the world itself is filled with more kind people realistically than not. There's definitely a gentle warmth to this story despite the initial coldness and disinvolvement you feel from the leads. All the characters feel quite real and everything is given it's proper pacing. There are A LOT OF positive female relationships btw. That itself should make you read this.

The only con is that the ml/father really wasn't a great dad in the beginning, but it's almost ok because he actually admits he doesn't know how to be a dad. I think with the FL 's socialization skills, they all really grew. There are a lot of sweet moments here that aren't "fluffy" but are just purely sweet. The difference being fluffy you feel like is unrealistic wooow cute, however sweet here is like oh I can see that happening, that's cute. And the sweet moments really can include everyone not just the leads.

I feel like I understand gentle stream romance with this. Although it's not all innovative, it's a solid nice read I recommend if you like family with romance <<less

what does this author have against female introverts? the amount of subtle jabs the author gave for the original owner for being a bit quiet just irritates me. calling her dull, the woman was just an introvert. does the author know a good chunk of novel readers are introverts? my eyes hurt from rolling my eyes.

anyway, the plot is simple. local chinese woman dies, wakes up in a character's body. now, she wants money not men.

easy enough to follow and not much can be said to be honest.

the author is... more>> good at making the readers at ease with how they write the fl's reactions and other character's reactions towards the fl. I found them a bit annoying at times but it still didn't dampen my enjoyment.

how can I not enjoy this novel when women support women in this novel. there were many powerful women in it that I felt like I was in heaven!

(sofisticated and kind grannies are gem that should be treasured.)

i also like that the FL didn't receive any of the original owner's memories and the novel also never had her in the original plot. we are just as blindsided as she is about a chunk of things. this challenges the FL to think about how she'll navigate in her new surroundings. wish more novel would do this. especially in more dramatic novels that could really end up someone dead.

now let's talk about the characters...

FL is fun. I like her. though her actions are confusing at times. if we weren't reading from her perspective we'd really end up thinking she's a gold-digger since she's kind of money hungry. and with how shallow her reason is? yeah it'd be so easy to interpret her actions that way. I like that she also befriended a likeminded granny! very cute!

the ML fits well with the fl. moments with him, doesn't matter if it was romantic in nature of not, are always delightful. I found the family moments really wonderful to read. I like the progression if their relationship. and how his age really played a huge part of how he reacts in situations. I do feel like he needed a lot of work as dad. his tough love routine was on the verge of being toxic. while I do see his point of view, I still feel like it did a lot to drive away his son.

the stepson is an angsty teen. very adorable but very tsun-tsun. I like his slowly growing affection for the fl. his friends annoy me though.

as you can see I did enjoy reading this, however the ending felt rushed. like, that's it? there was barely a plot tbh. we never saw her achieve her goal bc the story just ended. maybe I came across an unfinished translation? idk but it just felt like a lot of plot point didn't amount to anything. <<less

I started reading "I became the male lead's stepmother after transmigrating" on Webnovel and searched for the raws to mtl since the translation was not that far yet. After some research and with a bit of luck I chanced upon this novel which is basically the same story just with a different title and different character names. Except for that the plot is pretty much the same with only minor differences that could be attributed to things getting lost in translation. Or maybe it's a blatant case of plagiarism. Who... more>> knows... I did not check whether the author is the same.

Either way, I gave five stars because this novel is an enjoyable read for more mature readers who appreciate a stable relationship more than a turbulent and passionate one. All the characters were fleshed out and realistic with proper emotions and emotional development.

I also appreciated how the fanwai were a bit different from the usual getting married and popping out a new genius baby. The fanwai were actually a nice breath of fresh air which is quite nice since I tend to get bored with the lack of plot in most extra chapters in Chinese novels.

So yeah, highly recommend this novel. <<less

I am sure the story is great however the translator that took over this project is no better than a poor mtl.

Apparently (after reading the comments on one of the previous good translators websites), it seems like she was asked to stop translating because the new one has started.

I’ve said this time and time again, if English isn’t your first language, then ask someone to help. There are several readers who would love to assist. You’ve take a good story (potentially) and butchered it.

Couldn’t get into the story so had... more>> to drop it. <<less

Honestly, I love the family dynamic here since the relationship between step mom and step son are more of room mates at first. Not only is it refreshing to have a teenage son as the child in question, but I love how the step mom knows how teenagers can be affected by things adults would brush off as trivial. And that despite what his teenage rebel son thinks, his father does know him very well.

Not to mention the tacit understanding between husband and wife. I love a couple whose EQ... more>> level is very high that they make genre savvy moments even more hilarious with how outsiders are already speculating in the background but they already solved any possible misunderstanding with one conversation over the phone.

Really love how the family of three interact and grow closer.

Also love how her alternative counterpart, the original owner's own regrets gets tied up. She's truly a pitiful girl.

Unexpectedly Good! Truly.

This story is full of warmth and love. This love is very slowly formed and the journey is worth it.

ML is 12 years older than MC. ML is 39 and MC is 27. ML son is 16. This dynamic family of three is really making my heart burst.

Especially when reading all the extras! So warm!

A short, sweet, funny novel. Just look for the raws and use Google translate to read it, because that appears to be what the translator is doing and there's really no difference in quality. The MTL version is still quite understandable, and I really enjoyed reading this.

For what this story is, it really is quite complete and I don't really have any complaints or feel that anything was left undone. I thoroughly enjoyed the story that was told, and all the characters were grounded and there was no over-the-top drama... more>> or anything like that. The main trio - the MC, ML, and the stepson - were all characters with their own personalities, and it was nice to see them open up to each other and develop their relationships with each other.

The MC starts off very concerned with money, which might seem strange to some considering she woke up a billionaire's wife, but she doesn't consider his money or properties hers because she's not the one who married him and she wants to have her own money to rely on. I liked that about her, it was quite refreshing and more aligned with modern ideas than "bank on marrying a rich husband, " and it made sense in relation to her past. Can you imagine working hard all your life to create a business and finally make enough money to buy your own house in this economy only to end up back to square one? Yikes, lol. So, yeah, her desire to make money was perfectly understandable.

The ML is very refreshing in that he's not the typical cold, yandere President. He's an older man who actually acts like an adult, one who is reserved in personality but that's just because he's an introvert, lol. He's still considerate and thank goodness he's mature, and both he and the MC like to talk about things to resolve little things before they can become big things. No unnecessary drama here. The MC is also older and has had relationships before, and I consider this to be a breath of fresh air. <<less

This is a gem. Everyone is given a great characterization. I especially like MC's personality. The romance progression is so nice, slow but not suffocatingly slow, just slow enough so you can grasp the decision-making processes of the MC and ML. The whole reading experience is pleasant and there are no conflicts between the family (MC, ML, and son). The writing style of the author is stable imo.

It's amazing! Definitely 5-stars - for the plot, the pacing, how well it's written, the characters, everyone's favourite- character growth, and my personal make-it-or-break-it criteria- the ending. And there's romance too!

Isn't that all we want from a romance fiction? Strong female lead, no angst, the most lovable male lead and the breath of fresh air, super cute, FL's own personal cheerleader- the stepson! All wholesome vibes~😊

Starting with the FL, Jiang Jinjin, she finds herself a newly minted husband who is 12 years her senior, plus a teenage stepson to boot.... more>> Being a practical and self-reliant person, her first order of business is naturally to gain some financial security. As for this new wedded life, she lets sleeping lions lie for the time being.

With daily interactions, the stepson, Zhou Yan, and she develop a kind of camaraderie that is just such a delight to read. The stepson goes from being an aloof, rebellious brat to a good child who studies hard and cares for his family.

The ML, Zhou Mingfeng, is honestly the most 3-dimentional character I have ever come across (at least in recent memory). Probably my all-time-favourite now! He's such a warm, sincere and disciplined person. He comes from an impoverished background, a self-made successful individual, and like a responsible adult is very dedicated to his work. Some may object to his parenting style, but personally I think it fits with his character - he's more practical than sentimental.

As for the romance, it develops slowly and steadily throughout the series. Instead of instant attraction it is more of a natural process from interest, to friendship, to love. Very satisfying~

In the background of it all slowly unveils the mystery of the original owner's life, i.e the person FL transmigrated into, and what happened to her, where did she suddenly disappear to?

In conclusion, all the characters are precious and have their own unique traits. Recommended to mature readers, since the main leads themselves are older and very practical, and there's no... fluff? No coquettish behaviour, no endless pampering...

Anyways, read for the romance, stay for the ML, and the curveball extra chapters just make the author worth worshiping! <<less

Slow build up.

It took some time for me to warm up to the characters they were quite indifferent to one another at the beginning. They didn’t develop for me until around chapters 20-30.

Unfortunately this translation stops at 54 and the rest is MTL which is why the rating is on the lower side.

... more>> I think there was potential for this story to be better than it was - I was very interested in the step mother to a teen trope.

Otherwise it’s a good story but forgettable amongst the rest on this platform. <<less
