If you've read one "transmigrate into novel as married villainess-cannon fodder in entertainment industry" there's nothing this novel brings that is more interesting, well-written or fresh than all the other ones out there.

It's more a less a 'sweet' entertainment story with generic MC who never acted but is "spiritually suited" for it, ML who is rich, handsome and cold and a bunch of side characters who only exist to hype or be bad. And of course, the ever present netizens who jump up and down (why did they even hate... more>> original MC though, she's an unknown star who was seen with an idol a few times, doesn't seem to demand vitriolic hatred)

MC's past life is irrelevant, she doesn't care she's in a novel, she's silly in front of her husband and doesn't seem to care her personality did a 180 or bother finding out anything about her original MC self to understand her situation. ML is the usual cold ascetic man who is only interested in MC because she's different.

Like I don't get why original MC is so villified, she's not great but if your husband is obviously disinterested in you and you have a business marriage, I understand why she can't get along with the ML who doesn't seem to have bothered with her pre transmig.

Tl;dr, mediocre entertainment novel. Not particularly fun to turn your brain off to read, no point turning your brain on to read. <<less

Maybe I've just read too much abusive tr*sh, but this? Wasn't bad?? Kinda refreshing.

Yes, it's not exactly original. The entertainment industry tropes, the hyperfocus on wealth, the use of beauty as a sign of character, the usual, not-so-great cishet standards of C-novel, the allusions to bigoted beauty standards, etc. They're all there.

But something about the way they start showing romantic interest in each other? The unexpected compliments & flustered blushing?? &Amp; when they start being a little honest with each other (slash reading each other's dishonesty better)

Listen, sometimes the dog food is Good, okay? I'm lowkey crying screaming frowing up bc Alooneee but. Still. I'm enjoying the fluff.

Also, I realize this exposes how low my standards for MLs in online novels have become but

That's not to say I don't think standards should be higher though!! He def should have asked for consent, & never even given her the slightest impression he was going to force her. Much less reminded her of their matrimony, causing her to be like, "oh yeah, considering he's my husband I have no right to refuse"

but again. Standards low.

"Would I recommend" rating: 4.5 or 5 out of 10. Not Terrible, but (again) not particularly unique or well written. A good junk read for a low brain energy mood.

  • TW: insinuated threat of marital r*pe. Beauty standards (colorism, fatphobia, looks=value, etc). Uber luxury/wealth romanticization. Braindead netizens. The ush.

There's not much conflict, it's almost slice of life, but not quite. There are problems that arise, but these are too simple and can be resolved very easily. There's not much up and down with regards to the plot. There's lots of dog food (displays of affection between MC and ML), if that's what you're looking for then this is perfect for you. It's an early romance and the s*xual tension between them greatly helped.

MC is VERY rich, yet she doesn't use her wealth to avoid speculations about affairs.... more>> All that is written about her wealth is buying bags and jewelry. It's illogical that she encounters a lot of problems that can easily be solved by money. Something that irked me:

MC's agent emphasizes that MC might be the biggest star she has brought yet, but of course never bigger than ML. I don't know why author wants to emphasize that ML is better and will always be better than MC. 🙄

The main character made me laugh so many times, she is so funny. I love the relationship between her and her husband. It is so sweet it will give you diabetes. I wish the novel was longer or had a more detailed epilogue. 4.5 stars!

Below average. The characters are made of the worst quality paper, has zero depth and personality. This is not like those entertainment novel because this doesn’t even have any positive quality to speak of.

The MC is so dumb but author keep trying to tell us that she’s smart and almost everyone likes her because apparently she’s so “pure”. But compared to the antagonists negative infinity IQ, MC could be considered as intelligent with her negative a million IQ. All the plots are very ordinary, copy and paste from other novels;... more>> the author tries to be smart but end up writing the most snooze induced plot compared with other novels. Don’t even get me started on the plot-holes, just piss me off!

This novel could possibly cure insomnia, I keep on falling asleep whilst reading.

The ML is the typical cold, borderline rapist type. Also have less personality than pig’s faecal matter. <<less

It is good for a light read, definitely fluffy and has great mutual affection between the leads. Huo Shen respected Li Yining, protected her from being criticized due to their nature of relationship, and gave her the love they both deserve. To see more positives, just read czeihne's and kimchi759's review.

I'll admit that entertainment trope is my favorite and secret relationship between the two really piques my interest; however, as what I had said above, it really dampened my spirits.

Sigh.

Anyway, to answer some of Ecirteab's points:

(1) They hate Li Yining because she was an 18-tier artist that kept on clinging to Jiang Yuan (promising male upstart) and pushing away other actresses i.e. That white lotus gal (promising female upstart) I forgot the name because she's hardly there. It was also because the OG was urged by that other 18-tier "friend" who kept on putting oil to the fire and kept giving OG ideas to suppress other artists. Basically, since OG kept her real identity as a rich woman, they didn't know that she was one of the top supporters of Jiang Yuan (I think she was the one who practically advertised him to the exposure tbh) and she kept the holier-than-thou attitude.

(2) Huo Shen is the somewhat movie emperor there. Li Yining going near him can be said to be for "hype" since netizens don't know the relation between the couple.

(3) The Li Yining transmigrator didn't care she's in a novel because she's rich. It was emphasized that the only thing that made her even tolerate Huo Shen from the start is because she doesn't want to reach the same ending as the OG which is going bankrupt. Her main priority initially was earning money. Don't ask me why she just didn't ask her parents who's affluent too.

(4) Yep, too many filler characters who do not give a big impact to the flow of the story. And the usual "you're not who I thought you were, I'm interested in you now" is on mark. Lmao, the reason why Li Yining is being vilified (at least in the eyes of Huo Shen) is because she's close to cheating. The only thing missing is her giving a big diamond ring to Jiang Yuan while holding a shiny LED sign "Will you marry me?". She's using Huo Shen's money to support her other. :&Gt; Yeah, not gonna refute the fact that their marriage has already gone the drain by that time though. The OG was really devoted to Huo Shen before being so disappointed by the lack of care or attention of the latter. Ahhh, before I forgot. The white lotus and that Jiang Yuan were public couples by that time. <<less
