Chi Yiyin is regarded as a top horror novelist, and everyone who has read his books said it was like being followed by fear itself.

What they didn’t know was that it was Chi Yiyin’s personal experience.

While exploring a haunted house at night to find inspiration, Chi Yiyin was dragged into another world.

It’s a crazy and dangerous world, full of ghosts and fallen god. Even if human beings awakened their blood, they could still only survive in insignificant ways, and if they made one wrong step, they will usher in tragic death.

However, when the other players were scared to death and could barely survive, Chi Yiyin took out his small notebook: “This is truly terrifying, it can be used as inspiration.”

The ghost froze: ? Please respect me, thank you.

The next moment, the ghost was sealed into Chi Yiyin’s notebook and became his tool ghost. The ghost was dumbfounded.

All ghosts that were successfully written into words by Chi Yiyin will be sealed in his book for his use.

In the game world, rumor about a human began to circulate——

Chi Yiyin is here! Scared me to death, run!

The fallen god sits on top of the game world, full of loathing.

However, He saw the dazzling starlight, traversing the world against all odds, and came to Him.

He loves me.

The fallen god thought to himself.

Then this world that should have been destroyed has meaning to continue existing – for him, the sun rises.

“Don’t write about those crooks, I can be your strength. Fill your book with my name, and you will become a new god, and I, your most faithful believer.”

The fallen god kissed deeply: “I will give you a god, full of devotion and belief.”

People who were eagerly waiting for Chi Yiyin’s new book discovered, the top horror novelist actually wrote a love story??

Chi Yiyin announced with a smile: “Yes, I’m in love.”

“With a god.”

The instance stories were pretty good, especially the way the stories slowly peeled layer after layer until fully unveiled. It's not really pure horror, but lots of death and mystery

I just find the MC relatively unlikeable. Sometimes he's alright - seemingly empathetic, especially to the ghost that's being targeted in the story, but then he treats everyone else like lesser than the dirt under his shoes for no visible reason (but sometimes it's justified in later part of the story). Even his allies, he treats them nice and then in... more>> some other part, the author sends a reminder he's only doing it to further his own interests. It's hard to like the story when the main character isn't someone you empathize with.
Spoiler

There are also moments where I just can't seem to logically figure his actions. At first, he's a newcomer, a novelist with a little better than the average physical strength that has to run away during a fight at the end, but two instances later, after capturing two ghosts, he's on par with the same person he ran away from on the 'A-list'. He seems enthusiastically into researching how someone died in the first and second instance, so I assume he's a calculating soul, but he leaps into trying to attack the alleged instance boss after accidentally activating the dungeon trigger with no explanation. Admittedly, I read this via MTL, so I could have missed some things, but it feels like sometimes the logic jumps around.

[collapse]

😑 Also, the way these characters just casually judge everyone else for wanting to stay safe and not constantly go through life and death challenges. (Yeah, I know that would mean languishing in there forever, but forgive them for not having main character syndrome and knowing they'd more likely die than do the mental gymnastics of finding the killer and spotting the clue in a bloodstained carpet). Mostly, this is an issue with authors and trying to separate MC's type versus the average person.

ML is a bored god that got hit with "this MC is interesting" trope. He's not bad, but I haven't read very far to gauge — he's bystander A with god-coded immunity in every instance thus far. <<less

The novel is still enjoyable to read if you can shut off that part of your brain that wants to acknowledge/do literature analysis. I think it's... very thorough. The way it's written. The details are there, the clues and plots are all online. Just.. too online? To the point where I don't even know if it's important or not. It makes you think whether it's genius or if I've been beaten so many times by so many minor things that I eventually concede to this idea. Still, it's a fun... more>> novel to read and a rare good time in this genre.

Each arc is interesting and brings something new to the table that doesn't recycle like other novels of the UF theme. I like how it focuses more on mu*ders and human crimes, although the way to get there (understand the situation) is way too cumbersome and messy...

This novel is like, 223 chapters and up to ch 35 I felt like I already hiked up a mountain. It's ALOT and each chapter is very dense. But even though the novel is jammed packed with actions and things happening, it's still moving quite slow. An arc takes about 20-40 chapters and each chapter is.. alot...

Also, side note but part of the philosophy portrayed in the novel is abit... weird.. It's not too much but if you don't agree with the idealogy it can be a little uncomfortable because there's no concessions. Some of the framework, if you don't agree with, it can be hard to get by/read past. Still, as a piece of fiction, the novel is still pretty good it's just.. weird sometimes.

Overall, it's a good novel and interesting read!! Recommend for UF horror lovers... <<less
