There's not much of a synopsis, so I'll give a description here to give an idea of the story as of chapter 23.

The protagonist is an immortal man who has lived as the Duke of a remote territory for the last 300 years. In this fantasy world that includes elves and dwarves that live for hundreds of years, this isn't what's notable about him - it's that he's not only old, but ageless with wisdom that makes it obvious he's much older. The viewpoint character is Roberta, a priestess who... more>> is newly-appointed to his territory. The reader learns more about the protagonist, his philosophy and mindset, and the world they live in as Roberta follows him around. The plot is told not only through Roberta's point of view but also through telling the stories of the people they meet along the way.

Because of the prologue chapter and reader expectations, it's obvious the protagonist is more remarkable than what is commonly known about him in-story, but what exactly that means is revealed slowly over the course of the story. Each "arc" of the story shares a little more history about him and more world building. The novel is all about world building, and it's really good. Not too much of an information dump at once, details revealed a little at a time. The world has history and side characters have history that aren't overly detailed, but just enough is revealed to tease other stories and journeys that you want to learn more about.

The atmosphere is calm and even kind of melancholy. Time abyss as he is, the protagonist lacks an attachment to the world, but this doesn't mean that he's apathetic. He doesn't hesitate to help others and cares deeply for the people around him. His people also love him in turn. But he's also transient, moving on from people and places he's grown attached to, revisiting memories but looking forward. He's written very well, and realistically for an immortal character, I think.

The novel is written in a style that's more like a traditionally published novel rather than a typical webnovel. If you like fantasy novels with a focus on adventure and world travel, with interesting world building around the setting's history and religion, this is a novel to try. I'd love it if this novel was translated into English and given a physical release - I'd definitely buy it. <<less
