Some say Jiang An Lan is cold and aloof, unsuitable for spending a lifetime with; some say that though you could provoke the entire world, but you should not provoke Jiang An Lan as you will be made to regret it for an eternity. Some say, even, those that Jiang An Lan associates with are on the level of gods.

In Yao Yuan’s heart, she agrees. Jiang An Lan is an existence to be observed from afar, not to be trifled with.

Until that day, after he forcefully buys, sells and yells at her. She felt that this world had become very strange.

He said: “After you see me, you will never look at anyone else again.”

He said: “You were the only one that I forcefully pursued to become my girlfriend.”

He said: “I don’t know how to pursue someone. If you would like to take it slowly, we can slow down the pace.”

He said: “Xiao Yuan… I am cruel but I will never hurt you.”

Dearest, are these words blunt enough?

At this moment, snowflakes landed lightly on his black hair. There is a glimmer of happiness in his eyes, tempting and tender, afterwards, I belong to you.

If you are able to leave, it is not your beloved; if you cannot leave, it is fate.

Quite good. Interesting in some parts but I only gave it 4 star. I don't know how can I point out those parts who lack for me, but yeah I like some personalities of the characters especially main leads.

Disclaimer: I read the Chinese original and haven’t read the translation.

This is a story about a slightly oblivious great beauty who suddenly has to deal with the persistent in-game courtship from an in-game PK god. Not only that, slowly but surely, the courtship seems to be blurring the lines between reality and game. And strangely enough, though there are other men who wish to chase her, the heroine’s heart seems to be only be touched by her suitor who is so stubborn in his pursuit. A nice and sweet story... more>> and the slight dip into bittersweet territory serves to be that malodorous note in order to offset the rest of the aromas to make the perfect perfume.

Spoiler

This is essentially another take on the rich and handsome scion of a powerful family chasing after a poor commoner girl but in a sugary sweet vein. There is a later conflict introduced where the reason for the heroine’s orphaning can be attributed to the hero’s family and it is handled respectfully in a way that serves to underscore how stubborn the hero is and how that quality of his extends to his love. Superficially, just describing the setup will make the hero appear to be a creepy stalker with an obsession with the heroine but because of how well-written the entire thing is and how generally respectful the hero is, whatever obsessive undertones his love might have tends to be softened into something more like obstinacy, which actually speaks to how loyal the hero will be in his love.

Really, the lengths that the hero will go to is because he wants to guarantee his success in courting the heroine and whenever she shows any signs that she doesn’t take the strategy well or is at her limits, he changes plan or adjusts accordingly. It’s just he is very focused on being with her so they can be together always. For example, there is actually a sweet and funny moment where he is thinking back to his thoughts during the incident that caused him to fall in love with her (that she initially didn’t recall). At the time, he was too pained to feel anything but anger at the heroine so he was thinking spitefully that if he dies, then they (including the heroine) should all accompany him in death. Then, thinking back, the hero muses wryly that he still literally thinks this because his ambition is to be buried together with the heroine after they grow old together and that is how twisted his personality has become. So I feel it was an amusing moment that encapsulated the nature of the hero’s romantic obsession.

All in all, a very light read that is fun and sweet that won’t give you sugar overload. Even if the main romance isn’t your thing, the hijinks of the supporting cast provide enough entertaining fodder for amusement. <<less

So far, the story is shaping up to be like Gu Man’s "A Slight Smile is Very Charming."

Basically, a guy seems to be pursuing the heroine in an online game. It’s a lot less creepy than it sounds. Based on the synopsis, I would have thought the series was more straight up romance with a bit of angst. Right now, the story reads like a comedic drama/romance.

This drama really got me good. Heads up, there is some part in the story that is really heartbreaking. Well, maybe not for all of you but that part of the story broke my heart. It was a really good story though I could see some obsession issues on the male lead or maybe he just really loves the female lead. Anyways, it's worth the read. A refreshing modern story where its not all just the male lead chasing the female lead but issues surrounding them affect their lives.

For story progression read ch1, 7, &8+ although I mean story very lightly.

I suspect this author doesn't know how to frame a plot/story/romance progression. Maybe I'm wrong but it's like they're kinda trying but it's obvious they have little experience in doing so. It's honestly not that bad but also is not that good. You can probably do better eating a tomato to spend your time.

The game parts are as expected boring to read imo. Perhaps it's more relatable to a Chinese audience to be fair but also to be... more>> fair, I think it's due to just ok writing.

It's very not romantic to read this MC be basically coerced into this relationship. The ML doesn't give her a way out, she never explicitly says no, neither ever says yes, maybe she's tsundere but she also internally is reluctant, low-key is written that she doesn't actually want to be associated / or do what he asks, so ultimately if the author is trying to make her seem tsundere, it's written poorly = equals to a shining romance that we all want I'm sure. So so effortlessly cute, said maybe someone.

I just also want to note I feel absolutely no emotional connection to any of these characters as another marker on this writing.

It's really not that bad, but like I said, eating a tomato may be more conducive to your life. <<less

The premise seemed promising, but the name dropping at the start is horrible. Just within the first few chapters, I think nearly 20 people are named (I stopped counting). I just don't care, you know?

Also, the plot seems pointless. What is the purpose of telling us about PK battles with unrelated people? The connection to the plot is negligible and the descriptions are so vague you can't feel any thrill from it.

It's possible the novel will pick up later on but the start doesn't do it for me.

It's a mess. It's... disjointed.

First, the novel starts with elaborate descriptions of the game as if it's in 5D, like how the game character's reflect their owner's facial expressions. How does that happen?

Then they get together real quick, if I'm keeping with the timeline correctly, they've been together in 'real life' for weeks. And then the sudden melodramatic plot drops. And it wants me to be convinced that she fell in love so deeply with him she can't let him go? When in the first place she was reluctant to... more>> be with him?

It's not relatable, and I wanted to try hard to root for them, but the whole time I'm reading it, I'm just "pfft, get over it". <<less

A dramatic and heartfelt story about the romance of our main leads. FL is an orphaned teacher, your typical (beautiful) but plain Jane. She's protective of others, but is extremely reticent and honestly, doesn't have much personality. ML is your typical C-novel handsome, rich, powerful man. He's been in love with FL for a long time and decides to approach her first via the online game they both play. ML is really overbearing--I mean *really* overbearing. In all of his interactions with FL there's a feeling of him bullying and... more>> manipulating her into being with him. Eventually she comes to fall in love with him, but in the beginning she feels very uncomfortable with his pursuit (so if you can't handle this kind of this, you may not wanna pick up this novel).

There's lots of funny side characters and interactions. There's a big plot twist in the middle that keeps our leads apart, giving FL a chance to work through her feelings and decide she really does want to be with ML.

The story seems like it should be fluffy, but actually there's not a lot of fluff. Most of the leads interactions are dialogue--with very little physical contact.

The story was objectively good, but just not my cup and tea. <<less

Absolutely loving this so far. I was looking for a drama similar to Love o2o (One Smile Is Very Alluring) and landed on this novel. Hope they make it into a drama series as well. Anyways PLEASE CONTINUE UPDATING!

EDIT: so I actually finished the novel a long time ago. I really liked it. It was really similar to OSIVA in the beginning then took a totally different route from what I was expecting. I do kind of wish it was longer especially the ending. I need some extras or something... more>> about them. It's still a really great novel and definitely recommend. <<less

I've just started reading this novel and as already mentioned by other posters up-thread there seems to be similarities to "A Slight Smile is Very Charming". But I'm liking the premise that the hero or our male lead falls in love with our heroine or female first.

So I'm looking forward to reading the translations.

I’m giving this a 5 star when in reality I feel it is a 4 star story

The extra star is because I am a gamer and the gaming portions of the story were believable to me

One review mentioned that the game characters were displaying emotions and they thought that was unrealistic. In reality, most of us game with a voice chat program open and you can hear the emotions of the other players (one of my gaming buddies gets very frustrated with me because I talk to myself while I... more>> game, and you can tell how frustrated he is through his voice)

Also, the drama in the middle of the story shows that the ML really does respect the FL
Spoiler

When she told him she didn’t want to see him, he left her alone and tried to find a way for them to be together

He finally decided to change his family name to his mother’s because the FL hated his paternal uncle, which is a huge concession for the eldest son in a family (he wasn’t the eldest grandson, but he was his father’s eldest son)

[collapse]

I found the story enjoyable and recommend it for people who like gaming romances <<less
