“I hope you don’t fall in love with me, because I won’t be taking responsibility,” warned the young man. “Don’t worry, I won’t fall in love with a body double,” the employer dully replied. Yet, both of them forgot what they had said.

One entered the play and couldn’t come out of it. The other one was willing to act with him for the rest of his life.

The synopsis made me not read this novel for a long time... it really doesn't do justice to how good the novel is, so here is a little summary

A good body double needs to have multiple skills. So of course the number one Golden body double is far above the average man! Hired to play the role of an actor & lover of President Su, things

may not be as easy as it seem...

Watch as the danger rises while the past & present interconnect.

MC is cool, but I couldn't stand reading (who I'm guessing will be) the ML.

Spoiler

ML already has a hospitalized, in-a-coma boyfriend, whom MC is playing a body double for.

ML declares he wouldn't fall for the body double, but then starts viewing MC ambiguously.

He accuses MC of trying to seduce him—reading too much into the MC's actions—and that just left a bad taste in my mouth around chapter 11.

I persisted for MC, but ML continued to be a jerk with degrading moral integrity, pointing in the direction of a cheating bastard. No matter if the original boyfriend is actually "evil, " that wouldn't excuse anything. ML's boyfriend deserves better.

MC deserves better. <<less

One of the best BL I've ever read! It's too bad that I can't read the rest of the chapters. >.<

The story revolves on Ran Feng Ge, the 'golden body double', as he takes on the identity of an actor — Jing Qiu Han (not sure if I got it right) — who was recently shot and currently in a coma, as of his employer's wishes.

Spoiler

His employer, President Su, is Jing Qiu Han's lover. Someone wants to take Jing Qiu Han's life, and in order to protect him, President Su hired Ran Feng Ge to pretend to be JQH while the man was still recovering in the hospital.

[collapse]

It looks like a lighthearted romantic-drama (with comedy) during the earlier chapters, but then we got a glimpse of Ran Feng Ge's past....

Spoiler

he was involved with the organization, the "Chasing Hawk", particularly the leader, and the story takes a turn into a more deeper path.

[collapse]

There's a lot of mystery going on and some hints of a dark, 'tragic' (at least for me) past that makes things get spicier... there's sign of dangers for our MC!! >_<

Anyway, give this one a try. I highly recommend it. You won't regret it. <<less

The main character is so competent! He is skilled in so many aspects, and I admire the composure he has. Definitely different from the dumb main leads of other novels, this main character is intelligent and doesn't let emotions affect him.

Mystery slash yaoi, that was Ti Shen. It’s one-of-a-kind plot showcased a very skillful MC in proper pace and narrative. There were suspense, titillating atmosphere, and a nice pair of leads. Very solid, plenty hooks to tempt readers coming back for more. However, I found myself doubting some of the characters’ decision making process and at some points it felt like the plot was a bit forced. Those who have read “True Star” might also read this one and consider both... more>> as equals due to the aforementioned pluses, but I think “Ti Shen” is a notch below the other, although I’m still opening my mind for the possibility that further chapters will reveal what the disjointed plot actually meant. <<less

The ML is scum and the MC, supposely heteros*xual is too ambiguous. Please, he cant wait to jump in the flames ! I mean, when you are non gay (like he clamed from the start) you dont end intimate with 3 guys in least of 25 chapters.

And there is too many plot holes :

Please be more coherent and start with a least a bis*xual MC. I hate this kind of story where the MC just win over the straight MC. You dont bend easely, especially with a guy against who... more>> you need your guard up. If you play the body double and that you dare to call yourself "golden body double", you should have a professional ethic. He seems far from it....

Moreover the ML came out in front of journalists and the MC (the lover's body double) is "such great man to come out for his lover ! This is a man". This is a scum ! His lover is an actor and in a coma so did he just revealed his private matters in front of the world ? How selfish ! He may have just destroyed his carrier (the lover) without his permission.

And the last employer just find a professionnal as the MC in least of 12 hours after his first outing ?! And find his friends (who used to work in the same field : a underground field of work !!!!).

But if you can ignore all of it, it's not badly written. It's just that the backstory is too lame. Worse thing, I think that I was reaaly soft on my review. But I prefer drop it out. Too lame for me. <<less

The development between the main character and his love interest is tooooo slow. BUT! I've read from the machine translated copy that the next chapter might be a turning point for us readers and would reveal a lot about the story so far. Lol!

I ended up reading a lot of this in Chinese simply because I was curious about how the two main characters were going to get together when Su Yimo was so stuck on whats-his-face. And it's all right? I did skip a bunch of parts though, namely most of the actual recounting of Su Yimo and Ran Fengge's past (which they later go over again anyway, only in less detail) and most of the Mo Xiaobei's scenes (since I'm interested in Lan Kuang only insomuch as he's involved with Ran... more>> Fengge). I'm currently at the bit where they're detailing what happened between Ran Fengge and Lan Kuang and An Mu two years ago, and I think I'm going to throw in the towel here. Namely, Ti Shen is a whole bunch of dogblood drama, and I'm burned out on it.

Another thing that I'm not a huge fan of with Ti Shen is its propensity to try and generate sympathy for some of its more detestable characters. It definitely seems like the author mistakes a "well-fleshed out antagonist" for "a sympathetic character that readers would feel sorry for". I'm sorry to say but I definitely don't want to feel sorry for some of these guys.

Spoiler

Namely, freaking An Chen. I felt somewhat sympathetic to him up to a point (especially since the author is super insistent on it). But when An Chen r*pes his brother?? Uh, yeah, nope nope nope. All sympathies gone! Yet the author still keeps trying to push "oh look how sad this boy is" at us readers, even going so far as giving him a terminal illness! Like... no. I can't imagine An Chen and An Mu actually getting together, because I can at least admit the author isn't that terrible of a person, but the way that the narrative of "poor An Chen" keeps being pushed just irks me.

[collapse]

I also liked Lan Kuang as this kind of antagonistic wildcard whose a terrible person, yes, but at least knows he's a terrible person, but as the story goes on, it seems more and more like the author wants the readers to sympathize with him and actually feel bad for him. Well, sorry, but I can't feel bad for someone who locked up our main character and tortured him until he escaped! Stop pushing forth this "doomed love" narrative at us; Lan Kuang deserves all the hate he gets!

Spoiler

I feel like this "boo hoo Lan Kuang" sympathy thing that the author puts forth becomes more apparent with the appearance of Mo Xiaobei, who seems specifically designed to 1) give Lan Kuang a love interest other than Ran Fengge (so Lan Kuang isn't all sad and alone) and 2) make Lan Kuang seem like a better person than he is. Yeah, sure, he helps Ran Fengge after he learns the other's true identity, but, dude... you traumatized him for life. If he hates you, you completely deserve it! Stop this "woe is me" act! Ugh. Honestly, this is why I can't read any Mo Xiaobei and Lan Kuang scenes because it just feels like the author is trying to push "see, Lan Kuang isn't that bad!" in the readers' faces, when, yeah, he's that bad, the author just wants you to overlook it!

[collapse]

Also, yeah, it follows the formula of dogblood drama followed by fluff followed by more dogblood drama, rinse and repeat. I'm not a huge fan of dogblood drama, especially in Ti Shen where I felt they overdid it sometimes. And the fluff isn't fluffy enough to make it up for me imo lol. And I kind of have a hard time buying some of the feelings in this too? Like Su Yimo's initial feelings for Ran Fengge felt like it came out of nowhere for me.

Spoiler

Yeah, I know the author tries to explain it away by "they're actually childhood friends"! But, uh, both Su Yimo and Ran Fengge has said that the other has changed from childhood which is why they didn't recognize each other initially. Like... I just didn't feel the author really had the ability to write a realistic love forming so it felt more like insta-lust instead.

[collapse]

TLDR; Super drama. Much dogblood. Enjoyed bits of it, but more parts of it frustrated me than otherwise. Decent read if you're looking for popcorn entertainment though.

EDIT: Forgot to mention (and idk how many people this will matter to, since I think the translators do a lot of work fixing this), but the author BADLY needs a proofreader. There are so many typos in the original, it is lowkey hilarious. (My personal favorite was when they accidentally typed 台灣 (Taiwan) instead of 太晚 (too late) or when they typed 'tucking the person into the [杯子 (cup) ]' instead of 被子 (blanket) lmao. Must be some really wild MTL out there.) <<less

For me, this was worth the read, so much so that I mtl-ed it and finish it after several days. It's a modern settings so it was quite easy to understand the main point of the story/chapters. The reason for why I love this novel so much is that: the MC has a very great personality, he's homeless and had been degraded a lot of times in his life, but he have a positive and optimistic mindset it was easy to like and admire him. But the best thing is,... more>> at the end of the day, he got what he deserved all along and got his ever-happy ending.

As for the ML... he got a lot left to be desired, I myself think he's quite a bastard a annoying person, like most MLs are. But he did make our MC fall for him so I guess he got some kind of good quality worth loving... yes, I'm not a fan of him.

As for the original boyfriend of our ML, he's a green-tea bastard through and through. He makes you say, such shamelessness (ego at the end of the day) and I kind of pity him (kind of), but at the end of the day-not so much. He's crazy.

As for the main villain of the story, I forgot them cuz they're just some stepping stones to make our MC and ML back together again (like the olden days).

As for the friends of our MC, they're the best and I might even think that they're a better person than any of the main characters for this book.

So what I'm trying to say is that our MC is great, and so are his friends and they make the book worth reading plus the mystery and little bit of emotional rollercoaster ride also it help with the overall rating of this novel.

Hope you guys have a nice read, cause I certainly did :) <<less

Well, compare to vol 1 vol 2 was rather long 97 chapters T.T But though MTL almost killed my eyes it was worth it.

This volume was more focused on past I think, As of ch 11, they are focusing on how MC and Lan Kuang met.

then there will be MC's past which includes how he met ML.

Though it was a bit astonishing for me that he was using Jing Qui Han as a substitute for "little liar". Vol 2 was great though I'M still not sure about their relationship state... more>> but its better at the end of vol2. Look forward to vol 3:)

MC said (more like thought) at the end of the volume something like "having ML accompany him for the rest of road/life he won't feel lonely" though he says his character is same as before, unpredictable, go with the flow, only listens to himself. BUT I cant imagine ML is the same person from CH1, Childish nature when it comes to MC, also his possessiveness reached new level and ALL the love he had for Jing QUi Han for 7 years have vanished (which is good), well he once said since -HE and MC cant get married now fine but they can get engaged.

I like it. The MC is so cool, he's smart and strong and talented and handsome. Ok, that sounds like a Mary Sue, huh.

Yes the MC is seemingly perfect but he's a well developed character that comes with a past as well as a hard worker. He gains respect for that, as well as not falling in love in 10 seconds after acting in love with the employer. The introduction of side characters are not all at once, they have personality, and adds to the plot instead of just being... more>> thrown in for more drama.

I won't officially rate it yet because of two things.
Spoiler

First, the story has 3 volumes but the relationship between the MC and his love interest is a little...I don't know how to say it. And they don't either. But isn't that why we're all reading this? Doesn't help that the chapters are not the longest ones around here. So hopefully this won't become a rush job.

--Update-- So chapter 47 is actually the end of volume 1 and we have around 200 chapters to go. This is comforting. I think we might have enough time for a decently paced development in their relationship, but we'll see.

Second, the relationship between the boy the MC is being a body double for, and the employer is also a little vague. (minor spoiler) Apparently the boy and the employer are lovers, but I feel like the employer's feelings are not as deep as the author claims they are. (end) That's my little complaint, but we haven't even met the boy yet, so there's something to look forward to.

Love it!

Love the MC, his attitude, his awesome skills and brain.

Love his friends, how strong their bond is and how they are willing to help each other to such a great extent.

... more>> Love the ML, his swift actions and honest love.

And love the story, it's amusing and very enjoyable.

I had to MTL after the translated part, which was very difficult for me as many sentences just didn't make any sense (unlike the other novels I MTL-ed).

I stopped at the end of Vol 2 after making sure that our main couple finally got together (mission done), and now I'm waiting until the translation is completed to continue haha.. <<less

It's so good. I love stories with dialogue, and this has plenty. The author did a great job creating the atmosphere. The story was really smooth and easy to read. It was like watching a tv show. It's not an emotionally stirring story or even a dramatic angsty one. It's just a really good one to read. Strongly recommend. I only wish the updates weren't so sporadic.

Update:

Flashback arcs are usually good to read, but this one was meh. I thought it was a too forced to make the two characters... more>> know each other in the past. Wish the author didn't use this arc. <<less

Gosh, this is one of my faves! The second that you start reading this, you're s**ked into the story.

First I thought it would be like all those other stories about models like RS and True star with the main story focused on their acting career but at this moment Ran Feng Ge hasn't even set a foot into the entertainment industry.

Body doubles are what this story is all about and it gives this one a unique flavor!

It is filled with plot twists, action, a little bit of drama, cause a... more>> body double has it tough and has to bear a lot on his shoulders and of course there are also some kissing scenes!!

You should definitely give this a chance if you're looking for a interesting yaoi read! <<less

Ugh. Honestly, these kind of idiotic MC and ML are kind of hard to read. MC is "straight" but shows zero attraction to females ever and only has ambiguous relationships with men. Also, he starts crushing on the ML for no other reason than - uhhh, ML seems like a good lover to the person he's impersonating. Like, if he's really so talented and has been the body double for tons of people, you can't tell me that's all it takes to make the guy fall and change his sexuality.... more>> Also, ML is an idiot who doesn't realize his lover is a green tea bit*h disguised as a white lotus even when MC shoves evidence in his face. And he's a shitty employer too! Seriously, he's a body double you hired, not a s*ave. Seeing the MC and ML interact is the absolute worst. <<less

Idk why there are some bad reviews but personally I like this, there is just something about the writing style and the characters that makes it entertaining and makes you continue reading. The MC is competent, cheeky, and very considerate and nice. The ML is not the possessive type that gets you hooked at first but then fed up with the constant excessive affection that it makes the story feel rather dull which in my case is how I feel in some of the bl novels I read that has... more>> possessive characters. That may be the case because he currently has someone in his heart (I get irritated because it really does cloud his judgement and only instigate further conflict with MC) but trust me he does come to recognize and develop affinity for the MC and to me, during the process of development, it gave me butterflies. I sometimes scream because of their interaction, not scream scream but fangirl. So I highly recommend, And people should give it a try, this is not an overly mature novel though if people are looking for that kinda thing, itś more like a wattpad content story XD... The only downside is that the translation are a bit arbitrary and slow but nevertheless, I'm grateful for the translators hard work. If anyone wants a recommendation on websites to use to find the raws, just reply to me or sumthing XD and I also have a very reliable translator (if people dont want to read mtled version since this translator is relatively 10x better than your regular mtl conversion). <<less

Hello. Dunno who will answer my question... but i'd be happy if you will.

I am planning to read this but I saw there's a harem tag in this novel, and True Star too. And I don't like harem type novels. However, from the review I read here this doesn't seem to be a harem? Please tell me that I am wrong that this is harem, coz I feel this novel is good.

Harem or not? Thank you!
