For twenty years, Bai Luo had been thinking that he had been reincarnated in an ordinary world, until one day, a black book appeared in his mind.

“Is there magic in this world?”

Facing Bai Luo’s question, uncle Saros decisively said: “No.”

“But there are miracles.”

“What is a miracle?”

“It can be a sword that can release flames or a pot that can create gold”

“It can be a beautiful girl that was born from a fruit.”

“She can control fog, manipulate storms, and dominate lightning.”

“Magic!”

Bai Luo slapped the table and shouted

“That is definitely magic!”

“No!”

Uncle Saros said,

“This is really a miracle.”

Many years later, Bai Luo looked at the magnificent scenery of the country he had built. He agreed with what uncle Saros said,

“This is a miracle…”

Hi, I'm the translator of this novel.

This is a Miracle is a novel that is heavily based on kingdom-building, so don't expect an action and adventure-packed plot from the beginning.

It's about a reincarnated man who gets an opportunity to stand at the top of the world and he takes it. The beginning is rather slow as the main character and his clan get out of their predicament and start building their kingdom. There are some action and suspenseful events, but the true action won't start until the MC and his... more>> clan starts to have contact with other people and forces.

At that point, the point of view gradually shifts from mostly the MC's and more towards the side characters.

The kingdom building is naturally present throughout the entire book, as we watch the MC, his clan, and his subordinates slowly build their kingdom, build infrastructures, set rules, etc...

Of course, there's a dynamic between the MC's kingdom and other kingdoms. There will be diplomatic relationships' development and there will be wars, but I won't spoil anything about this, you have to read yourself.

The world-building is quite good, with many countries and forces throughout the world, and the author presents them in an impactful way that doesn't make them feel irrelevant.

However, what I liked the most is the power system. I have long since become tired of the cliché cultivation BS, so a fresh power system is always welcome. I found the miracle system rather unique, especially as more and more details about it are unfolded.

The main character is granted a rather unfair advantage, but as the author gradually unfolds this system, you'll realize that the MC is far from OP. While the MC has the advantage in quantity, he had his miracles for a short period after all.

The character development is very good in my opinion, as we can clearly see the growth of most side characters, both in terms of power and as characters.

Overall, up to the chapter that I've last read (chap 270), this is still a very good kingdom-building novel. <<less

Looks good, sounds good, OP-ness is also okay

but the author likes to stretch unnecessary parts of the story and makes it boring, each 'miracle' have their own power system behind it, but the MC will have at least 10 of them and no way to explain everything in detail only to be forgotten in the future (details of miracles is okay, but is it necessary to make their own power level for all the 'miracles' and never mentioning it again?)

How the time progression flows is also unreasonable, up... more>> to c151, only half a year have passed and the MC becomes strong only because plot armor keeps on advancing his kingdom's growth

The author could have taken it slow and made time skips but no, lets describe all things to reach the chapter limit everyday

the war have some boring parts but great parts too, not the fighting part but how they try to resolve the situation, they didnt do the "kill the son-kill the dad-kill the patriach-kill the ancestor" troupe

but can actually make peace with the current enemy by taking hostage and using the rules

so some parts are good, some parts are done albiet poorly, overall 3.6-3.8 <<less

The author loves repeating things over and over. Although the chapters are already short, each new chapter contains repetitions and infodumps. The more lore there is, the more author repeats it. He treats you like an idiot who can't even remember basic concepts. I can't say I'm happy about it.

In addition, characters are a bit too flat. Each is, at best, a set of some basic character traits combined with a favorite hunting style or lack thereof. I think the author is just inexperienced. He keeps missing great opportunities to... more>> flesh out characters because the story is mostly told from MC's POV and it's done rather passively, like some summary. I'm getting tired of it.

Spoiler

Let's take for example the latest translated chapter. The tribe is undergoing a groundbreaking change, but MC is just "I detect magical power in girls" which was followed by another boring grandpa-infodump about lore, and it was a repeat of what we already know. Why be so blatant about it? Why the author won't shift the POV and show how the kids experience awakening of magic? Flesh them out. Turn it into a magical happening.

[collapse]

Also, I don't like the power creep. I'm afraid there won't be any tension or suspense if MC will keep collecting miracles like pokemons. Although I'm glad the novel isn't about cultivation (+1 star for just that), the story still feels shallow, like most other Chinese novels do. I'm not ready to read another 500 chapters like that. <<less
