Honestly, story is kinda mediocre. It seems like the modern businessman/underworld setting with some element of royalty / empire / political conflict as well?? I can't really get a grasp on the setting, like they mentioned patron saint of the empire, etc. On top of that, there's half-assed cultivation elements, so....

My absolute favourite thing about this story is that MC is the top hahaha.

Also, excited about the Nie brothers couple. Although it stinks of dogblood & drama.

I admit I with that title I was hoping for a cultivation focused novel where the bad-*ss evil MC just happens to be gay, with a decent romance secondary to the actual plot (like Earth is Online). Yeah, not so much.

in reality, what we have so far is a typical romance genre BL transmigration+scheming rich families+high school melodrama+spy stuff with lots of heightened nationalism and plenty of dogsblood, where the MC happens to have been a cultivator in the past and might be one again in the future if he... more>> can solve a few issues. The MC himself has some basic abilities which makes school easy to breeze through and he's decent at face-slapping, but he's a bit of an idiot when it comes to the single-minded pursuit of the ML. It bothers me that in over 200 ch there has been very little progress on either the cultivation or the romance side

he broke through once on the cultivation side and just became the ML subordinate, which I guess is a step sideways, if not exactly forwards.

due to a few issues I have with the MC, as well as the story pacing, I'm going to rate this at a solid 3 for now and come back to read more at a later date, once the translations have caught up. also, the translation itself is good so thank you to the translator. <<less

First of all, let's talk about that tag - "Seme Protagonist", which, this is definitely not. I don't think this is a spoiler since the tag is so blatantly labeled. So if you are one of those who thinks MC (Ye Xuan Chen) is top, forget it! He's not. DO NOT be fooled by the summary!

Some may argue that it's simply a mislabeled tag, so I shouldn't give this novel 2/5 stars. But that's not the only reason.

It started with a strong MC with cultivation and what's not. The story... more>> introduces cultivation but then rarely use it. Instead, it is used so poorly that it feel like the ending is written in a rush.

The main villain of the entire book is just a fish in a small pond... and the whales are the ML and MC. It's almost anticlimatic how easily the MC took care of the villain.

The genre completely focus on romance and the romance wasn't even that well written!

The tension is there for the first 200 chapters or so, but that dies off once their relationship "starts".

There were moments leading up to the big reveal that ML is stronger than MC. Well that is acceptable and all, but this wasn't revealed until it was 300s chapters into the novel. And even then the final villain wasn't even beaten by ML but the MC. So why the need for this trope?

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that. It only becomes wrong when, 300 chapters in, it suddenly seems like the author ran out of ideas and simply followed all the tropes there are in all BL novel. "The MC is badass, but the ML must always be more badass than MC." Trope.

I wouldn't have been so upset if I didn't feel so cheated after investing so much time leading up to that point.

Especially in chapters 600ish, the MC is intoxicated after a large party, and of course, there's the supposedly hot steamy action afterward. But it completely kills the mood when the ML asks MC if he prefers top or bottom. Well, obviously he's feeling pleasures so naturally he would answer whatever on his mind at the moment, which he said he "likes to bottom". That was extremely low of ML. In a fair relationship, does it matter if who's top or bottom? If the MC already expressed that he wants to top sometime, then is there really a need to ask this question? Not to mention, the ML techniques suck! As pointed out by the MC. Who the heck does it without using lube!?

Then we have the narrative part of the novel. Therr are 2 Side Pairings in this novel. Both of which receives ample screen time. While they are "somewhat" crucial to the plot, I do not want to spend 100+ chapters reading about their sappy heartbreaking stories. I would rather the author focuses more on the cultivation aspect and the main CP previous life. There are some explanation here and there, but is defnitely not enough. There's simply not enough reason to justify their love simply because their past life loves one another...

The author introduces new things, but we don't get to see it at all.

For instance, what happened to treating Jin family's heart problem using elixer? What happens to their pets, the snake? Up to chapters 750s and those plot points wasn't resolved at all.

There are some good parts such as scheming from the MC, but it's not enough to save this novel.

So fair warning to all, do not expect too much cultivation in this novel. And for those that comes here expecting a seme protagonist, looks elsewhere. You will be disappointed 200 chapters in. <<less

Good so far.

There is plot which is certainly a plus. It looks like there will be some emotional development from the ML's side. Which is also good. To say more I'd have to read more chapters, so I shall wait for them with anticipation. :>

I just wish the translator would use less exclamation marks... It's so confusing (つ；△；) つ

There hasn't been much of the main couple so far (till ch33), I guess we'll see more in the future... But I can already see another couple on the horizon! The Nie... more>> brothers! They are certainly a couple material. I have high hopes for them even if they're to be just a secondary couple. Please author, make my ship come true!

Unless the big brother is just that complicated and mysterious that he fooled even my sensors and actually has no such feelings for his younger brother. In such case I'd have to swallow my sadness and just focus on the main couple... <<less

the story ain't to bad. The romance is slow and has only really started a little around ch 80 (and I mean a little). The title is a bit deceptive because MC isn't evil (just acts tricky when provoking ML) the only evil thing about him is his bodies previous life.
