It good. Very good. But... it was just an utter turn off when Zhang Guofu (ML's oldest brother) started seeing a young girl almost at the same age as his oldest son while he was on campus to further his belated studies. He never returns home to his wife and 4 children in the village. Forgetting that it was this wife who supported his family of 5 and his younger brother while they were still in poverty and starving of hunger. Yes, ofcourse the wife has make mistakes.. but it was also his indulgence that things came how it came to be. He definitely had known his wife's character which was naive as a baby, s*upid, easily swayed but other people's word but a hardworking lady, but never helped correct her instead indulged her even further. Now he hates to see her and communicate with her, and continues to delay his side chick from her marriage when he could simply say to her 'I have wife, who has been with me since the days of our poverty and 4 children, oldest is only a year or two younger than you. Even though there are some differences, we are not going to divorce. So you should give up.'

But instead of saying those he dresses up for her and waits for her to sneak up on him. Its disgusting. As the oldest son he can't make his father relieved, isn't doing performing the duties he should have, he's indecisive and now he doesn't even goes to home to see his children and communicate with his wife. I hate this type of character the most!!!

Let's talk about the side chick he's seeing outside. According to Zhang Guofu she's a serious, good girl from a good family and isn't like others. But she still goes after a man with a wife and 4 children knowingly. How can this character be good? Are all good girls now home wrecker?

The wife isn't bad at all, just needs someone to guide her from her s*upidity and boost up from her inferiority. Even our protagonist can forgive her mother for abandoning her infant himself self to the demon relatives, what does the wife's simple and s*upid mistake count when you where the one who kept indulging her.

This book is very life like... and I simply love it. But it was also because of this same reason that I came to hate a character so much that I simply wrote an eassy on it. It was a simply turn off at this point and can't calm my mind enough to continue reading. Every time I pick it up to the point from here I left... I keep remembering what Zhang Guofu has done. I simply can't forgive him and I don't even know the reason why I was offended by a character in a drama novel.

Can someone tell me if he really ended up leaving his wife for the little mistress? I'll kill him if he did.

first of all this only my personal thoughts of the novel and may not necessarily represent how it really is or how other readers feel about it.

The novel is actually good for now I like the main couple, especially the ML, he is not the emotionally handicapped type you usually see in this type of novel, he smart, caring and hardworking.

I wanted to give the novel 5 stars at first but I was disgusted by 2 characters in the 50 chapters I read and from the spoilers there is still... more>> another one in the coming chapters so I just gave 3 for now

Spoiler

the writer make the grandfather of the ML before crossing over look like a good guy as if all the suffering the ML had gone throw, the separation of his parents and destruction of his family has nothing to do with him but is that even possible? the grandfather was the head of the family and has full control, without his agreement who would dare to force ML's father to leave his mother and agree to arranged marriage. he knew that the ML is thrown at an orphanage but left him there using some lame excuse.

another one is MC's mother after crossing over, she just threw her daughter out, never cared for her or visited her once, she was even cold to her on the phone and most disgusting is that she knew what kind of hard life her daughter was living but stayed silent. her daughter was forced to find an outsider and marry at 16 to escape this h*ll and her 'loving' mother didn't even show up.

the writer dare to say that she did that because of motherly love. what kind of sick love is this? if she didn't know her daughter's situation it would have been even worse. When I read the excuses the writer wrote I only thought what a load of bullsh*t. If a soldier goes on a secrete mission will his wife throw her children to h*l and go look for him everywhere? I almost vomit when she was crying and asked for her daughter's forgiveness. the MC hates her grandfather the most but in my opinion the main cause for her misery is her own mother ignoring and cold attitude to her that gave the others the courage to bully her

I just can't accept it and more I can't accept that the couple forgave them easily. I really don't like that the MC dislikes and hates poor ones while trying to find lame excuses to forgive the rich ones even if they are main reason for the most part of their suffering or how the author created such a tragic setting, build up drama and suspense to end up with everyone haha laughing in mere seconds like nothing has happened

there is still the ML's oldest brother that other readers mentioned

i'll keep reading for now if the rest of the story is good enough to make ignore what I wrote above, I'll raise the score

edit:

sigh. I'm dropping it, I can't take this kind of plot development any more, build up suspense and settings then sillily finish everything in few sentences. It's just not for me... sigh..I had high hopes for it at the beginning.

I might come back later after I forget the messy settings of the story and be able to treat the plot more casually <<less

OOOF, the author of this novel pays very close attention to detail -- which is good, but in MODERATION. DX omg. The dialogue and the exposition of this novel are so long-winded. Sometimes an entire chapter is just one long monologue. Picture it this way... A person speaks continuously for the entire chapter (barring one or two breaks for exposition). That's how crazy it gets. I think I could have continued if the story was a little interesting, but the slow-pacing and the constant telling vs showing just wasn't working... more>> for me. *sigh* anyway, this novel just isn't for me ig (especially not in MTL form -- the MTL is only 65-70% readable).

This is my second time reading this novel and dropping it early. So I won't be rereading this in the future, don't be tempted future me! As for those who may want to try out this novel regardless of the MTL quality and the author's writing style, the premise goes as follows: The FL and ML are from Modern Day China. The FL has a blood-sucking family that wants to suck her dry for everything she had for the sake of the only boy in the family. Meanwhile, the ML is an orphan with a mysterious background. Their relationship is established early on (they even have a baby in the stomach), so the romance development is non-existent. The main focus then is their marriage life after being sent to the 1950s with their newborn baby. The times back then were rough, famine is right around the corner. And, even though they have a magical space golden finger, it's a storage type. Not a growth type.

Sounds pretty exciting right? I honestly wanted to keep reading, but ahhh too bad my patience is not enough T.T As for my rating, since I don't intend to come back to reread later, my current rating would be straight up 2/5 (and that's me being generous, in reality, it's probably at 1.5/5). <<less

The first 7 chapters are a waste of time. The author gave elaborate backstories for their relatives but they will transmigrate soon enough and those details won't even matter for the rest of the story. I skimmed through and just started actually reading from ch 8.

I'll make it clear, Zhou Jiao and Zhang Guo Qingn are a lovely couple and the novel is not rubbish, is just that is not good enough to be a long novel. The couple is smooth sailing most of the way. The bumps in life, what makes a novel interesting, mostly focus on the rest of the family members expecting the ML to solve their problems.

The author should really work on it's pacing. He goes through the climax scenes really fast, but drags an uneventful day conversation for more than... more>> 20 chapters. I wouldn't read it again. 2.5☆ <<less
