On the day He Sui’an transmigrated into a book, she hit her head and had nowhere to go. She wanted to follow a young man, and then he took her in and cared for her. This young man who took her in came from the mysterious and legendary Miaojiang.

She didn’t really like the insects and snakes on him.

But she didn’t know anyone else, so she chose to stay by his side.

As they got along, Qi Buyan found He Sui’an to be fragrant, so she let him smell her as much as he wanted.

Qi Buyan didn’t understand why men and women needed to hide their intimacy and was curious about what it felt like, so He Sui’an stood on her tiptoes and kissed him.

Qi Buyan liked the feeling.

But she was anxious because he seemed unsatisfied with just a kiss.

Qi Buyan once said to her with a smile, “People from our place cannot tolerate betrayal.”

He Sui’an stammered, “I-I won’t.”

But one day, He Sui’an hit her head again.

She regained her memory and realized that she was a transmigrator, and this young man from Miaojiang was a character not to be messed with in the book, or else he would easily feed his gu to her.

He Sui’an fled.

On the third day of her escape, she saw the young man again.

In the pouring rain, Qi Buyan’s pale face looked eerie and terrifying, and the snake he raised climbed up her leg and bound her hands.

That night, the young man fed her something.

“This is called Zhongqing Gu.”

“Remember, He Sui’an, you must love me…”

He Sui’an agreed, and before the gu took effect, she looked up and kissed him. Qi Buyan chuckled, and the curtains around the bed slowly fell.

(4.5/5 rounded up because Qi Buyan is terrifyingly fabulous)

Imagine wandering into a desolate, snow-covered fortress city, only to be saved (if you can call it that) by a snake-wielding, bell-jingling, gu-cultivating teenager with the face of an angel and the moral compass of... well, someone who never had one. That's Qi Buyan for you. And trust me, you'll never forget him.

This book is dark. Like "your candle just got blown out and the Gu spiders are coming for you" dark. But it's also... more>> oddly tender and poetic in a way that sneaks up on you. The relationship between Qi Buyan and He Sui'an starts off like one of those "Will they kill each other before falling in love?" dynamics

and then evolves into something far deeper. Watching Qi Buyan learn how to "raise" a person like one of his pet snakes is both chilling and strangely heartwarming. He Sui'an's survival instincts are also top-notch

because you need them if you're hanging out with a guy who uses centipedes as backup dancers.

What I Loved:

    • Qi Buyan's Vibes: Picture someone who can calmly say, "Apologize or die, " and you believe him. Add jingling silver ornaments and a killer wardrobe, and you've got a Yandere who's equal parts fascinating and horrifying.
    • The Setting: Snowy wastelands, decaying cities, and mystical villages it's like a Gothic fairy tale had a baby with a survival drama.
    • Butterflies?!: Oh, just your average supernatural tattoos that light up when you're feeling mu*dery. (Is it weird that I want one?)
    • He Sui'an's Growth: Watching her go from a scared, crying orphan to someone who learns to coexist with literal venomous creatures is oddly satisfying. Girl deserves an award for courage.
Final Thoughts:

This book is like being wrapped in a cozy blanket

while venomous spiders crawl over your feet. It's unsettling, mesmerizing, and packed with emotional depth. If you're into morally grey characters, intense survival vibes, and romance with a side of what the heck is happening, this one's for you.

So this novel was definitely mindblowing and heart fluffy sweet filled romance novel.... first of all its a happy ending so yes... no tragedy

Now talk about my review its too sweet ML slowly learns to understand, than like and love the FL he doesn't understand emotions these feelings were indifferent to him until FL filled him with tge understanding of love and happiness and intimacy the fruit of closeness..... it's very simply and precisely told and described by the author how they live together fulfill their daily lives while continue... more>> to depend on eachother... they are very open to eachother like in other novels sometimes misunderstandings do happen but here both didn't hide anything towards eachother.... FL is too cute sweet cuddly and likeable character... I also like ml' character he kills those who attacks him and never treated FL in a wrong way.... the side characters are too awesome creating a harmonic balance in the story itself but I wanted to know what happened to them in the end but overall the pace of the story is equally balanced with the increasing romance, love and ending so definitely recommend it....... read it and yes if you like cuddle and cute couple stories it's for you.. <<less

Novel was super sweet and had potential to be a smut novel.

it's a novel that is full of fluff however there are some plot hoes and some thing that just didn't connect well thru out the novel.

I also I agree with Izzybot'sw statement "Although ending was HE, it felt out of place, didn't quite blend in. As if author forced an HE."

the ending was kind a forced into the novel.

i gave it a 4 star cause I did enjoyed the short novel but would not read again.

Added to Re-Read. Loved this story. I am going to read it again when translation is done. ML is soooo very cute. Saying absolutely shameless things with no expression... there's a certain appeal to it :) FL is plain and simple just like all the other reviewers commented, and I liked the FL for it.... because any of us normal folk can relate to it.

If I were to pick one thing I like the most in the book - it would be the relationship and trust between the leads. FL... more>> trusts ML so much, she doesn't hide her transmigration and warns him about coming up dangers. Even her separation from ML (mentioned in summary, so not really a spoiler), also she discussed with him ahead (tho ML didn't really agree to it). For those (like me) that have anxiety about long separation of the leads, don't worry it doesn't last long.

The things I had a little complaint with:

    • Mini-recap filler paragraphs. - Ex: "Woman had 2 tall men standing on her either side" gets repetitive when that sentence is followed by "Woman in the middle and a tall man on her left side and a tall man on her right side" or recap of what happened few chapters back - redundant verbiage like this felt a little annoying.
    • Although ending was HE, it felt out of place, didn't quite blend in. As if author forced an HE.
    • Time-travelling back and forth was un-explained.
TLDR: Recommended to read if you don't mind simple and normal FL. Read for sweet romance. <<less

It's quite a sweet novel with good plot. The romance and plot went side by side so both were the focus. I really like how author depicts them falling in love. Little by little they slowly but surely fall for eachother.

Specially ML his falling in love journey was shown so well considering that he is a psychopath. I mean literally ML is a psychopath. He has no empathy, no emotions and he gets excited by killing. He likes killing. So I liked how even though he was possessive at the... more>> end he completely fell for her it wasn't just his possessiveness that held on to her.

I was surprised that this infact had a bit of spicy scenes.

Overall it's quite a balanced novel though it is quite low on angst. <<less

*sobs* It's soooooo sweet!!! There's nothing more I can really add that all the other reviews haven't already. I guess I'm a sucker for overly possessive, yandere-ish, MLs who would stop at nothing to keep the MC tied to their sides but when it really matters, they'll willingly give up their own lives than let MC suffer. Ahhhh it's great! The story is pretty good too, not like genius-level that'll blow your minds but we're here for the romance anyways. There are a few side characters that help add to... more>> the story but the main leads are your main leads and what we want the focus on. I do agree that MC's time traveling power isn't really clear and at the end I still had a few questions on it but this is just a minor issue and it doesn't subtract heavily from the novel itself. Overall, I do recommend this to anyone who's looking for a sweet, short romance read. <<less

I'm just blown away. I don't even know how to describe my feelings. It's like a roller coaster. Sometimes you're sad, sometimes you're happy. When I first read the translated chapters, I thought I wouldn't like this kind of male lead. He was just too extreme for me. Even though the female lead is sometimes a bit too dense, I think she's actually quite suitable for the male lead.

I appreciate how the author made this novel accessible to casual readers like me, while still maintaining a level of depth that... more>> allows me to engage with the character development throughout the story. This is the kind of magical fantasy and romance story that I enjoy reading. While I'm not a fan of the martial arts aspect, I often find myself just passing them by and getting to the point where I want to read it again.

In short, I highly recommend reading this book. I guarantee you won't regret it.

I've read the novel via MTL and it was sooo goooodd it hurts. I only read until the ending and not the extras T_T. But still, it was already enough to prove that this is a gem. I love the main character's relationship dynamics and the whole novel centered on their character development and growth. There are no unnecessary plot or d*mb characters which is very refreshing for this genre. Each character are well written and I thoroughly enjoyed the novel, it was lighthearted and has some lowkey sm*t aspects.... more>> Also if you're into yandere/black lotus sh*t, don't expect so much blackening from the ML. In my opinion, he was genuinely a good person but you can't deny that he was also morally grey. Anyway, I'm just giving heads up cause I know my people and my kind, we were too attracted to red/black flags. You might find him bland XD. Let's just not be extremists for once and hope for a healthy relationship <3 <<less

It's not lighthearted because their adventures were full of action and blood. But somehow, I feel like it's relaxing. Maybe it's because of their personalities. The FL is big hearted and the ML is indifferent. So come what may, they won't ponder too much. There were schemes and conspiracies but then again, it didn't make the story boring because the romance and intimacy of the MCs are in between. A little bit of blood and a little bit of sugar. An odd combination but it balanced the plot well.

The FL... more>> isn't strong nor very smart. But I like her character, mainly, her attitude towards the ML. But speaking of her character, she comes off a little flat. Her character from beginning to the end didn't change.

The ML, on the other hand, is more dimensional when it comes to character design. We can see his growth and changes. It was cute to see him so direct about his desires. Wuwuwuw love him a lot. I like his straightforwardness, his possessiveness, and his clinginess.

As for the supporting characters, I'm not that disappointed that there is no follow up about their lives. After all, they are more or less passerby to the leads' life.

Anyway, I don't have much to say. Plot wise, it's not bad. And romance-wise, I like it a lot. I just wish there are more extras about them (oh, I like the childhood sweethearts side story the most).

Overall, it's quite a decent story. 9/10.

P. S. The synopsis is kinda misleading tbh. Yes, the FL run away when she regained her memory and yes, she was scared. However, it's not because she's scared of him or what. The synopsis is giving such interpretation that the FL run away from the ML because she's terrified of him. Anyway, you'll find out why she really run away. <<less

This novel isn’t doing anything totally new with its plot, but the way it’s written really makes it stand out. The romance is slow and tender, but that’s exactly what kept me hooked—it’s gripping without being rushed. While the brand of seduction presented isn’t new, the way it’s portrayed really worked for me—well balanced, especially how it weaves light smut in a way that artfully avoids censorship. It’s just the right amount of subtly explicit to be artful.

The relationship between the leads develops from something innocent into something much deeper... more>> and more complex, and I really enjoyed watching that unfold. Plus, the fire avoidance book scenes were hilarious, but they also added a strange, intense depth to the story. I particularly liked how the story handles consensual play, which I think is rare to find done so well in this kind of setting. The tension and chemistry between the characters, mixed with humor, made it all the more enjoyable. It’s a bit of a slow read at times, but the character dynamics and the way they interact kept me hooked.

There’s this eerie elegance to the ML, Qi Buyan. His costume design and the butterfly symbolism gave me major Hua Cheng vibes from TGCF. The silver bells were an elegant touch. The hair symbolism throughout the novel (whether it was tying it up, untying it, or untangling it) was all done well.

As for his Gu pets, I couldn’t help but picture them as cute chibi cartoon versions with big watery eyes. Honestly, this would make a great manhua—visually stunning, especially with Qi Buyan as the focus.

The story does end a bit abruptly, though. The extras, which continue the story, should’ve been incorporated into the main plot rather than being tacked on later. <<less

Please read it. I love the story soo much. The relationship between ML and FL is sooo sweet. The dynamics between them is intense. My heart flutter every time ML thinking about FL. At the end I didn't see the plot ending like that. But I love the ending. If there's only more extra about their life. Maybe if they got child.
