The Young General’s Wife Is Mr. Lucky

Description

Yu Jinli* was a koi fish who had cultivated for a thousand years.

He had taken the shape of a human being, and possessed the ability to predict fortune and change luck.

He was supposed to be a popular Mr. Lucky but who could have thought that…

“Sir, your forehead is covered by gloomy air. I’m afraid there is a looming threat of fatal disaster waiting for you…” Yu Jinli said with all seriousness.

All of a sudden, a big flower pot descended from above and hit that man directly on the head.

“Buddy, the top of your head is green. I’m afraid that…”

Before Yu Jinli finished, the young man opposite him received a call and headed to a hotel nearby to catch his girlfriend in the act of adultery.

“Brother, you…”

Everyone cried: Lord General, please take good care of your wife and don’t let him throw curses around… TAT

Yu Jinli felt frustrated: Obviously, I’m warning them with good intentions.

The nationally acknowledged most perfect man, the young general: Dear, don’t get upset because of those shortsighted people. Come home with me and I’ll make you chestnuts roasted with brown sugar.

Those “shortsighted” people: …

*Note : The two Chinese characters “Jin Li” in the name sounds similar to the two Chinese characters for koi fish. ‘Jinli’ is now a symbol of luck in internet slang.

If you want to catch this novel. This novel is already completed in the Flyinglines app.

This novel has a lot fluff, and also funny. If you are looking for a lot of action then this is not for you. If you are a person with a lot of logic and likes to think critical then it is still not for you to read. You can only read this novel when you want to loosen up from reading heavy dog blood drama novel.

There's the premise of a buff guy calling... more>> pokemons and plant vs zombie. Cooking and good lucks in the story. Mechas, ML and classmates with a lot of filter for the MC because he's just so cute and adorable.

I love this novel very much so, it just makes me happy and laugh with the characters antics. So please do forgive me for disagreeing with some of the reviews. I just feel like it unjust to give it a low rating just because it is illogical, impossible and unreasonable plotlines.

Novels are suppose to be unreasonable and entertaining, that is why you don't need to be logic when encountering a impossible plot line 😉. It is not a documentary after all, that needed facts to be proven feasible. All you need to do is go with the flow. <<less

This is one of those stories where one actual event occurs in a chapter, and then the perverse author has to spend the rest of the chapter making sure everyone properly reacts.

MC: *Breathes*

Everyone: "OMG So adorable!!!!@#"

"His watery eyes are so cute!!!!"

"His expression is SO loveable"

Mother: "Yes, this cute child clearly loves my son."

At first, I am completely fine with the innocent, s*upid, oblivious MC. But as time goes by, it get's very irritating. He kept on praising the ML with simple things that are sometimes common sense. If you traversed into a new world, the first thing you should do is to do some research about the world and some common sense so that you won't be s*upid enough to reveal your identity. The MC always needs to rely on the ML regarding common sense. Sometimes I just want to knock the... more>> MC's head out and shout to him "You have a terminal! Do some research s*upid white lotus!"

Also, the ML is a typical-turned-to-waste-but-was-saved-by-the-MC. Many chinese stories are like this so it becomes cliché.

In short, story is dragging, characters are cliché and annoying. It's really not my cup of tea. <<less

As a person who usually read 100 something chapters and 200+ is the limit, me seeing that this novel had 528 chapters made me feel:

(OoO) / *shocked*

But I decided to read it. Why? Since it has all the things that I like in an interstellar setting.

... more>> There's also a unique profession in this novel. (My first time reading about it.)

There is no heavy conflicts or drama. It really is a light read. I spent 3 days reading this novel and it would've been shorter had I not forced myself to sleep early.

The ML is very possessive but he's also very sweet. He's very thoughtful about our MC.

The MC is a lucky koi fish so... *laughs* there's also a comedic tone where they needed to find something and it would just appear. ?

I really liked how thoughtful the ML's family is to the MC.

Honestly, I can't really find the right words to express how I feel since I'm still wrapped up in a warm cocoon of honey (*coughs* dog food *coughs*)

The plot is quite smooth. The characters that were mentioned in the earlier chapters did appear and were combined well in the plot.

Yes, I did kinda find the other characters mindset the same and quite repetitive. (The envy for the ML and MC's achievements and them plotting how to ruin our MC and ML; including the hate of the envious people to the family of the ML) but it's quickly resolved.

The chapters are quite short so it's very engaging.

I also love how kind the MC is. (It's probably because he's an animal spirit.)

I'd definitely recommend this if you like a comfy, warm, long read.

I just wished that there was an extra chapter. I'd like to read more of them, including the master and older brother of the MC.

I'd like to thank the author of this novel and the translator/s and editor/s that took this novel up. Please continue it. I'll still support the translated version. ?✨ <<less

Well.... don't mind Mr. Lucky novel's fans but I must say that this is downright copied version of in the future, my whole body is a treasure. At first I was confused who copied whom.. after surfing it is stated that the treasure novel has been listed of 2015 in nu. And as you can see this lucky novel is of 2018.

Though you can give it a try if you enjoyed in the future, my whole body is a treasure. But mr. Lucky has a lot of unrealistic loopholes🙂🙂

It's a cute story, but some scenes are exactly the same as "In the Future, My Whole Body is a Treasure". The chapters are also really short and you need to pay for the rest of the chapters 65 onward. I didn't really want to MLT this so I hope that someone might pick up the translation.

Cute at first... Especially with how he fits in his class, all his classmates liked him except for one which got kicked out of class later, it was 'okay' with how his classmates teach him common sense, and was a bit pushing it with how his classmates view every incredible thing he does as: it's MC so such a thing can be accomplished...

Everybody in here is a foodie whether it be humans, animals or cultivators, who'll fall upon MC's feet after having a whiff of his cooking....

But then it became... more>> kind of awkward with the insert of pokemon, and became ridiculous in how he made elemental energy cards without looking on how to it was normally made. He wanted to be low-key after all, so, he should've searched it first before making it.

Then things became even more ridiculous when...
Spoiler

MC's class became the best class of their grade in the whole school and skip grades (the author justifies this with the other classmates teaching the others). I mean doesn't the other students in their grades study or even practice at all? Or are the others just s*upid?

[collapse]

ML is your typical sick ML who gets cured by MC, and becomes the strongest amongst the other ppl...

MC and ML's interaction are cute and fluffy, which made me read a few more chaps...

But I decided to drop this novel after reaching the part where MC decides to...
Spoiler

hand over the technique to increase mental power (he got with permission from his shifu and senior brother who were betrayed by humans, yet MC still wants to help because 'not all humans are bad')... I mean it's okay for MC to teach others the method to cook, how to make the cards (since it wasn't his own creation, but which he personally spends time making through trial and error), but this? Next it'll be on how to cultivate... Other readers might like such MC but I don't

[collapse]

All in all it depends if it's your cup of tea... <<less

Maybe because I’m used to superb danmei novels, I keep getting the feeling that this one is too shallow like those brainless transmigration novels with Mary Sue’s MC.

Things happen way too fast and way too easy. Oh, they changed the fiancé? Ok. He knows my secret sickness that only few people know? Ok. Just meet and he is doing something that can easily kill me? Go ahead. Just. Too. Much!!

The author don’t take time to construct the history, nor the character and even less a whole idea! The story keeps... more>> changing the focus all the time! Seems like the author woke up and decided to write about food. Then few days later, forget food, let’s make cards. Then again and again and again...

If you really don’t mind all those details, go ahead. Otherwise, well, give it a try anyway, you won’t even have time to deceive yourself that this novel is to your taste. <<less

This is the type of novel that you have to conciously turn off your logic centres to read. Otherwise your cpu may explode XD

Also, I liked this way~ more than "My Whole Body is a Treasure" - I don't really get those who claim it's a copy/paste. Apart from a broken ML, there's not much else to go on. But that's objective opinions for you.

The MC is a good koi, and he doesn't really have the capacity for evil machinations, so that's left up to those around him.

Things that bother... more>> me so far: (or, I'm half way through, so let me go off on one)

Spoiler

Supposedly in the future, people no longer rely on 'natural foods' - which are rare and only available to the noble class. Yet everyone still knows the names of 'flavours' and can still wield chopsticks like a pro. This bothers me the most because the evolution of our species and society is strongly tied to our diet. We are hunter gatherers - it is even shown in the novel that planets have organic life that can be eaten. Humans have been trading in salt/ sugar/ spices forever. It's a strange plotline that is poorly developed, like seriously. Even then dishes that the MC prepares are not 'simple'. Then it's that everyone invariably enjoys the same tastes, everyone eats spicy, everyone eats offal. The re-introduction of food culture is better presented in other novels. Only liking and presenting Chinese cooking does not make one a foodie. And people, who have been weaned on nutrion drinks and appetite suppresents are suddenly drooling and can't fight their hunger.

Then the ML's family is supposedly a big deal, but they are constantly tricked, oppressed and nearly killed by evil forces, that they freaking know, because 'it's the wrong time' to confront people. Rebuttal finally happens when the evil forces instigate it themselves, which leads me to think that they were waiting for a funeral.

4) Despite the 2, 000 years that have transpired since the Federation (China) left Earth, 'filial piety' is still in place. It's inexplicable. As usual there's a yin and yang attempt to say the Federation is the best, while pretending that the real social problems that plague Chinese society are 'normal'. Yes, the hatred of illegitimate children is strongly pushed, but not the hatred of the fathers of the poor bastards, it's all their who*e mothers fault. I'm serious, the gross 'comments' of some of these interstellar folks that pass for writing make me seriously doubt the century.

[collapse]

Finally finished, that last arc is a boring drag. Also the ML really made me disgusted how he competed with his unborn children for affection. That's a mental problem. You need help, not encouragement.

Zombies! Oh-effing-my

Spoiler

As usual the hatred of the US (that is still called the US/American Empire despite no longer being either of those things, but the shallow thinking of the author also extends to all European survivors being called European Empire, lol. So it's really comical to use Pokemon (Japanese) and Plants VS. Zombies (American) cards. Can't think up boring Chinese cards? Also I really hate seeing Pokemon being used as tools of war. For f*cks sake bro.

Well truthfully this story was ok. At first I was planning on skipping this due to having so many chapters, but after seeing a review saying that it was similar to 'The general loves to collect little red flowers' I gave it a shot.

Since the story at the begging was quite interesting and I was impatient, I actually bought all the chapters from flying lines to read.

So for all those who are curious if the $5.99 USD was worth it, it truly wasn't.

The translation was extremly sloppy and the naming... more>> of characters was horrendous. At some point I was not even sure who was who. Like that step brother of ML. And due to this naming problem by the time goes, you have no idea who is who so it makes you hard to have any affection to the characters.

I mean i've read longer stories, such as 'tr*sh of the counts family' which has more than 600 chapters translated by now, but it was so well done. So I couldn't even justify this bad tranalation and naming problem was due to how long it was as there are so many other long novels which are done very well. So compared, this story gets 0 out of 10.

I mean I truly don't like flying lines actually locking these chapters when they are actually duping people with lacklustre MTL. I think those other translators who have done such a good job deserve rewards unlike flying lines who are just using half boiled MTL to boot.

Anyway, story wise, its ok. Not too interesting. ML & MC has a good relationship but its no way in hell can be compared with 'The general loves to collect little red flowers'. Coz this couple doesn't make you have the feeling of realism. It's might be due to translations being bad, but at the end it felt 2D. The who story ended like this.

And story wise, I feel like the author tried to add all the variants of stories in to one book and it kinda made it like a serialised drama with so many irrelevant plots added just so it could get dragged on a little more. I would have dropped this half way as it bored me soo much.
But I just read it so the money I spent wouldn't be wasted. -_-

so if you are looking for a book to read for time pass, may be this might be ok. But overall I still cant say that this was worth the time I spent on it. <<less

Initially, a bit interesting, but is getting repetitive and kinda boring now - becoming a generic face slapping, OPness and food fest novel... And the food p*rn is not even that good - the live cooking telecast is just forced into the story and taken out whenever author remembers it...

The Gary Stu-MC is way too clueless about the world and things happening around him - and after months of living in the new world, it's neither cute nor funny anymore... The super-OP ML wants to, as usual, monopolize MC- to... more>> the extent that he makes excuses to trick the unsuspecting MC to just concentrate on him, preventing him from forming bonds with others...
Spoiler

Ex - ML tricks MC into leaving his friend waiting for him in front of a closed door in the virtual game for hours just because he (ML) was jealous of said friend...

[collapse]

I don't understand how a person who bullies his subordinates for nonsensical reasons is a good ML candidate in C-novels... nor why people who are so technologically advanced that they can travel (warp?) from galaxies beyond milky way to Earth in four days! are so backwards when it comes to food - the genius five star cooks have no idea about using salt or pepper or oil in their foods! <<less

I keep thinking I am reading In the future my body is a treasure. Like everyone says, it almost a carbon copy of it. The author is kinda... racist? Or hates foreigners.... its uncomfortable, it's like they have never met exchange students or normal foreigners and assume all of them are sh*t people. It has a very VERY strong "China is the Best" patriotic vibe which kinda kills the mood, cuz now I am wondering if I am reading a novel or am I being brain washed into thinking it.... more>> Not saying it's a problem but it just gets in the way of the story... but then again if you want a story it better to read "In the future my body is a treasure" cuz that at least has a story to tell and it's OG.

ML is hella creepy. Eww to him I say <<less

Now I know why this novel got low rating despite of main plot idea is really good.

Don't get me wrong. This story is really good. But after reading so much chapter, you'll find sick later although you seemed to like this novel begining...

Lots of cannon fodder jumping around becuz of jeaousy (from the start to the end, one after another cf died becouse they're jelous or afraid of ML's family and history repeated itself again). Racistism.... you know ppl from Main Land China hates American for no reason tho they... more>> can't be blamed for being brainwashed and blocked from the world, all of the things happened to China are because Americans are behind them' mindset included in this novel.

(Btw, I am not even American)

For just reading it's a good read tho later it became boring tho.

But for many reasons, I can't give this book high rating although I decided to give it in the beginning. <<less

I don't know which story between this one and In the Future, My Whole Body is a Treasure was written first, but they are very similar. A spirit transmigrated in a futuristic world, there they were given to be married to the world's hero who was dying after being poisonned by the Zerg who tried to invade the world. The hero's family, the innocence of the MC, even entire scenes are the same.

At first, I really liked the story, so I read the MTL, but the number of plot... more>> holes was too much for me and it bored me so I haven't finished it. The idea of fortune telling fish intrigued me, but was quickly abandonned by the author and the MC just became a lucky charm who gave bad luck to people mean to him.

And let's speak of the people mean to the MC, they are everywhere, for no reason and after he has proved himself time and again. That's the basic chinese novel, everybody being interested in MC and ML affair, being mean for no reason and lot of face slapping. The villain was boring too, lot of schemes and the ML too lazy to investigate and again lots of plot holes.

The ML wasn't very interesting, popular, physically strong, handsome and jealous (even of the MC's friends) bordering on possessive or obsessive and that's all, nothing to say about him.

What's weird is that a lot of things happen, but once the author finish speaking about it, they are forgotten. So what's the point?

Finally the author doesn't seem to like foreigners. First all asian people but Chinese disappeared, then these Chinese founded a democracy while the (s*upid) surviving people of Europe and USA had to submit to a king. Then each and every foreigner is arrogant, blond, tall, s*upid, full of evil intentions and insulting every Chinese people he meets. Haa.... Why? <<less

Finally done with this 💙 I MTL’ed it, and it was okay. I won't prolly read it again even if a better translation appears tho.

ML was supposed to be a Male God. The author failed to justify this title or give the ML a chance to shine. I think the author forget about this too.

Spoiler

It’s kind of irksome how the people in this novel often have amnesia. For example, tho chestnut competes with power Mecha competition and the three worlds are watching, when chestnut went viral again because the Cardmakers Association learned that he was the one who made the Pokemon cards and the netizens were so amazed, the netizens were still shocked/floored when someone commented that he could also build a power Mecha. This happened so many times throughout the novel that it made me wonder if the author can’t remember what she wrote anymore.

[collapse]

The last chapters and ending seem abrupt. It will leave you wondering what happened to the other characters of the novel. <<less

I like the story but I personally really hate the trend of having a super strong MC who suddenly becomes weaker. I understand you want him to rely on the ML and the ML to be stronger than him, but I just don’t understand why the MC has to be weaker than the ML just because he’s the shou. It’s basically just everyone looks down on the shou and can’t let him do anything by himself. He’s a fish that freaking worked hard for years to cultivate. Even if he... more>> has a master he shouldn’t be useless and it’s stated that he learns quick. I understand that he’s naive but if they actually took the time to teach him stuff instead of sending him off to school without knowing anything half of these things wouldn’t happen <<less

I got sick of waiting for the chapters to be released and just decided to MTL the raws.

To anyone who plans to read this: You're in for a wild ride jfc.

This novel actually has me a bit conflicted. Like, I personally loved the story, but I am aware that it has plenty of flaws and it's not something I'd recommend to others when pulling out my list of must-reads.

For instance, ML's mother's "her son grew up fast and could do everything himself from a young age, making her feel like... more>> she never really got to be a mother" was repeated so often I wanted to bang my head against a wall a couple times. The face-slapping got a bit repetitive too; someone would come in, automatically hate MC for some random (usually unnecessary) reason, be annoying and go a tad too far, then they'd be crushed after a short while. Rinse and repeat.

MC was nice and soft tho. I like the occasional naïve protagonist. There were also some nice cute scenes like:

Spoiler

ML learning to cook because he knows that his lil wife loves food.

ML kissing MC's koi form and the latter being so smol that his entire fish body fits in the ML's hands and feels like he's been kissed all over because of the size difference.

ML saying he wants to "eat" MC on the day of their engagement, and MC tearfully extending his arm, fully prepared to allow ML to take a bite out of him.

Pretty much any time ML and MC are together sprinkling dog food lol.

[collapse]

What really threw me for a loop was:

Spoiler

the sudden appearance of zombies after 500 chapters of nothing. I mean, there were a little more than 20 chapters left until the end of the novel and then BAM, ZOMBIES!

[collapse]

Overall, this novel was definitely a barrel of cliches sprinkled through with some surprises that appeared so fast they gave me whiplash, but I did indeed enjoy reading it. <<less
