The World Without My Sister Who Everyone Loved

“I hate you enough to want to kill you, Sienna.”

I was my sister’s shadow all my life, and I was betrayed by her and died. But… people have changed since the day I came back in time.

“You’re the only child Nacht chose.”
“Your Highness recognizes you as family.”

Something’s wrong. These people seem to mistake me for my older sister.

“I beg you, believe in us for once, that we care for you.”

I once wanted to be loved. Now I fear that this mindset will become my weakness. One betrayal was enough.

Everything is over when you bet everything in love. I just want to get my life back so…

Whatever I say that’s new or different from other reviews will spoil the novel, and that’s really something that shouldn’t be done for this novel. Just know that nothing is what it seems, and I feel like we’re supposed to see Sienna and the rest as characters, no room for self-insert.

I saw a few comments saying the translation is weird or separation of past and present isn’t clear, and I wonder if we’re reading the same novel. But I did notice that there’s a change in translator from chapter... more>> 1 & 2 and the rest. So, maybe that’s why?

edit: tysm translators, for finishing! <<less

Yeah, it's your typical regression novel. But I must admit that this novel has the mysterious and its uniqueness characteristic in a good way (once you read it, you would easily notice its uniqueness).

The MC's past is really the bitter one. But, how the author illustrated MC's painful memories is how I rated this one 5/5.

If you're searching for anything with some mystery, revenge, and some emotional moments to read, this is might be the perfect one. The plot is more on the slow side, but its worth it bcs... more>> you would be served with more intense emotional experiences. 👌👌 (P.s. I think I cried almost every chapters that explained MC's bitter past life.) <<less

I had this novel in my bookmark for the longest time but haven't started it until just a week ago. Now I'm beating myself why I didn't read this one sooner. It's such a gem!

This novel deserves its high rating. It's very well-executed. All the characters were fleshed out and had their own growth. TBH it didn't go the way I expected at all. From the premises, I thought it's kind of a horror story where MC entered another world where her sister didn't exist and there might be some... more>> ghostly elements or something ominous of that kind.

But it's actually an adventure story where MC went on a journey to become who she supposed to be. It's a coming of age story. And it's a fantasy love story.

I want to compliment the author for writing trauma so so well. Not just the MC, but everyone in Nachts as well. If you go to any sites hosting the manhwa adaptation of this story, you would see so many rude comments that said the MC was weak and pathetic and she should be grateful for the second life she had. What these comments fail to realize was that the MC didn't ask for it. She was at peace when she died and by turning back time and making her face people who abused her for decades one more time was a cruel and selfish act she didn't ask for.

Imagine you're in a dysfunctional family where you were constantly abused and devalued but you can't go anywhere because your power were taken away from you, no education or opportunities were given to you, even food and clothes were a luxury for you; everyone around you hated you and wished you would disappear. That's the MC's reality for her first life. That's why she committed su*cide when she was forced into the corner and were at peace at the one and only time she ever made a decision for herself.

For spoilers, click below

Spoiler

It turned out that it's the ML who made a forbidden contract and turned back time. While his act of turning back time was a selfish move on his part because he was in love with the MC so much that he became twisted, it was a necessary act since without the MC's power, the world just came to an end.

I also like how his character was written as obsessive and desperate and quite frankly, twisted. And it made sense why the MC would be attracted to his craziness. It's like two people who are broken found a partner that can complete them.

As for the sister in question, while she is indeed a villain, she's far from a last boss. I actually find her to be incredibly human. She has greed and desire so big it overshadowed everything else in her eyes to the point she forgot why and what she wanted in the beginning. Her fate was one worse than death.

[collapse]

My favourite character was hands down "Hesaros" - the spirit that became MC's weapon. He's thousands of years old, so he should be a grandpa, but the way he talks, he's more like a playful big brother who took care of his little owner. MC grew so much after she bonded with him since he was someone she didn't know from the first timeline, there were no bad history. And since he's attached to her, he's inevitably on her side no matter what. Their relationship is so good I'm jealous. He's also the reason she was able to overcome her trauma and embarked on her journey to become a powerful wizard.

Anyway, the only critique I have is - by the middle of the story when the MC is all grown up, she became such a badass and super OP. And she seems to have too much of a heroine halo, always winning, always finding the right solution. It can be a little cringey at times, but overall, it's just a small element that I was not satisfied with. Everything else was completed very well. <<less

It has been a long time since my emotions fluctuated from reading a book, and I'm reading one almost 24/7. I feel so happy and satisfied reading this book. I was crying, laughing, and tensed through all of it. This will be one of the few books that will have me coming back to read it a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time. Thanking the translation team for allowing me to read this gem, and the author, who told a beautiful story. ❤️❤️❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and I'm honestly confused about why this one isn't rated higher - it's genuinely one of the best novels I've read. The story is complicated and layered (and much MUCH grimmer than I was expecting), and while it does follow the typical died-and-woke-up-in-the-past-before-everything-went-pear-shaped there are some interesting differences. The world is in a state of eternal war, humans against these mutated demonic creatures. Our MC has the power of purification, but because of the influences in the past she was misunderstood and not powerful enough as a child... more>> to sufficiently purify her surroundings, which is part of why her "sister" was able to manipulate everything to her advantage. The sister is a complete and utter jerk, manipulating everyone around her maliciously and bringing about the downfall of the entire civilization because of her interference. Because of her interference with MC's powers, corruption spread throughout the mansion and killed a lot of people, which was unknown until the MC's death in the previous timeline. The MC of course has no idea what happened after her death but the family sure does - and they now appreciate everything they didn't know she was doing that the sister took credit for. Once the truth has been revealed to them, there is massive character growth and genuine regret.

What is fascinating here is that the MC's sister is the only one of the main characters who ends up NOT remembering the past, and it is incredibly gratifying that the family who adopted MC actually tries to redeem themselves - and even better, MC DOES NOT JUST FORGIVE THEM. They have to WORK and put in real character growth before she will even bother with them, and it's great to see that. It's not a lot of obvious face-slapping or anything, but the MC despises her adopted family for their past treatment of her and doesn't trust them, and they do genuinely work to regain her trust and appreciation. This tale is grim and gloomy, with a touch of romance but more in a situation where everyone is fighting for their lives in a dark and desperate world where you could be ripped apart by monsters at any moment. It reminds me a little of the Gormenghast books, but in the best possible way concerning how lyrically the world is written with the atmosphere of bleak foreboding. This one is for the people who like to read Poe, and it does not disappoint. <<less

This novel is the type that I love the most: Executing the very the clichés we've all had enough extremely well. After reading it I am noticing how it actually wasn't that original plot wise or turn of events but while reading I was so immersed in it that I didn't feel bored at all. It is so beautiful and emotional.
Spoiler

I was bawling my eyes out at the death of the duke like he is my favorite character in this novel so far. I can even call him the most innocent of them all maybe. I wanted him to be the happiest witnessing MC and ML' s happy wedding as a father that's what he deserved with all the suffering he endured so far and boom he dies and I am crying like the last extra was torture I am dying he deserved everything that shouldn't have been his ending

Good translation but the story isn’t my cup of tea. The story bore tf out of me. Ml, villain and other supporting characters were so bland and didn’t bring that much to the table. Fl’s personality was just meh.

[Edit: I RATED THIS AS FIVE STARS BUT I CAN'T CHANGE IT WHYYYYY⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ this is five stars okay? ;-;] This is amazing!!! It's so worth the read!!!! The characters are so well-written and developed, the plot twists are heart-wrenching, the story is absolutely a roller-coaster ride. I love how the MC's character grew as the story passed by. As for the romance, it's a bit "slice of life" but it's my cup of tea hehe- but it does take a spicy turn soon and it's a happy ending hshs. The event... more>> of tragedies as well are so great and the antagonists caught my heart. It was fun reading this. Though it did saddened me a bit when I finished reading it- :'') BUT! I heard that they started serializing this into a manhwa so I'm really happy >< Thank you for this novel! As for you who is reading this review, it's time for you to read the novel ;) <<less

I wanted to give this a 5 star... it dropped to 4... then a 3.... and so on

Honestly the first volume? Amazing, juicy, heart wrenching, well done.

Volume 2? disappointing, abrupt, bland, confusing, big unnecessary time jump

... more>> The title is misleading first of all. Loreina wasn't loved in the first life just respected.

Secondly, Amazing premise was ruined by poor story. There was a totally unnecessary time jump between first volume and 2nd volume... as if just to justify weaving in the romance.

Thirdly, there was no redemption arc. What was the point????

I gave up reading somewhere halfway through second volume cause it was so badly written and unreadable and the plot was just everywhere. What's with the romance? The moment she appointed 3 knights randomly it felt like volume 2 had a different author. There is good worldbuilding till it goes to the tr*sh in vol 2 with the concept of 'nests' like that just others me logic wise somehow. Anyway just majorly disappointed so dropped it. <<less

The story is good. It portrays trauma very well, and it portrays the process of healing said trauma pretty well. It's a good novel about a broken woman's healing journey. I don't think I need to write a lot of strengths of the novel since there are a lot of reviews about them already. I agreed with most of them, so go check them.

Anyway,

I think the main weakness of this novel is its romance. It didn't happen for a long time, and it's sooooo rushed when it finally happened.... more>> There's no natural development in the romance between MC and ML, not even close to natural development in relationship between Michael and MC. It just happened, the romance. Like, bam. Like, what? Why suddenly kiss? Why suddenly seggs? It really feels like it would be better if there's no romance in this novel, and everyone can just be friends first. Put the romance in side stories or something, to flesh it out some more.

However, albeit rushed, it felt like it's also stagnant. You know, like one time you suddenly having s*x, then after that, the ML curled back down and MC didn't even try to reassure him until much much later. Instead of getting closer, they're not progressing well. There's never a romance so boorish as the one in this novel.
Spoiler

Even post-main story, the ML is still as frustrating as a wood splinter under my toenail. When other people tried to propose to MC, ML just... did nothing. Well, not completely ML fault I guess, because MC is a fcking insensitive btch, tho. She never, like NEVER, assured ML that she wants to be with him, not as a lover. She just told him she wants him by her side, like she wants him as her leman. Only after Countess Gildinak reminded her did she try to make amends. But I swear, there's no worst romance MC as this one.

[collapse]

In conclusion, this is a bad romance novel with bad romance main characters, but a good anything-but-romance novel. If there's no romance, this book would be better. It's better to not do it than to do it so crudely like this.

Romance: boo~!

Everything else: great! <<less

Ok. First of. THIS NOVEL IS SO GOOD!!

The eary chapters, I admit, was slow, annoying, and frustrating. But as you progressed in the story, you realized, "Oh she died just after being betrayed and woke up to the past not even accepting and adjusting to her situation". Imagine you went home from work at 3 am, only to have work at 6am. Yes, thats the kind of tired the MC was and it was portrayed well how trust issues and how her experience is hard to move on.

SECOND! Characters, at... more>> first you will think they are just passing, NPCs. But as you progressed, each of them has an important role on the future chapters.

THIRD! ML... well he has a share of sacrifice and suffering. Age gap, 6 or 7 years? but based on their memories he developed feelings when it was the adult MC in 1st timeline and continued on the 2nd timeline.

FORTH!! MC's character development as well as relationship. The pacing is good, her development is amazing and realistic improvement from pain, trauma, and forgiveness. A lot of lessons to realize and the story doesn't really revolves on what she knows about the future but how to handle the unpredictable. She never focused on what will happen next, but more on "What should I fix and learn more in this life".

Lastly! Thank you to the team! I cant belive you continued and funished it. I started this during the pandemic but stopped cause I got distracted lol. But thank you for this working on this masterpiece! <<less

Oh! This has definitely become one of my favorite stories, I enjoyed every chapter, especially the way the translator chose to post it.

Not forgetting to remember my dear and wronged Duke Roderick, he didn't deserve the ending he got. For me, that was the only negative point of the story, having ended up with such a good character without any plausible justification.

This is one of the very rare novels where I rooted for the Male lead to be the guy who made the FL suffer in the past. I felt no second male lead syndrome as well which is also very rare.

It's a FANTASTIC NOVEL, it's not your typical go back in time o reborn and is very interesting how this novel shows that trauma and PSTD is a serious matters, and just because you go back in time, it doesn't mean that you just got over everything that happened, o that forgiveness is quick, once you release that there is an explanation to the past behavior. This is a WONDERFUL read, very cathartic with characters development and growth.

Art is good. Writing is good. (눈‸눈) the story however is fundamentally unfulfilling & unfortunately repulsive to me to me.

The fact that they were so crappy to her in life 1 right after adopting her, but this life was so different doesn't sit well with me. Despite that, our FL is quite forgiving & ends up with that fam n with the ML

(-_- ) ノ⌒┫ ┻ ┣ ┳

... more>> Is it a regression for her or for the other ppl who have regrets?

I'd rather she have just died, leave the ppl to suffer & regret, n it be a proper tragedy.

I prefer my rebirth/regression/tm stories to be with a stronger character & with revenge being carried out or atleast abandoning such ppl! Not some weird Mary Sue esque story. <<less
