I'll be completely honest, I'm not very invested to the story. The plot is nothing too fancy. Though I was not looking for complicated plot when I picked this up and simple story is enough for me, but the thing is, the plot can't keep me well-focused.

I've always loved sly, clever and scheming characters. One best example of that kind of character is the MC from QWFOD, and in my opinion, he's up there on the list. I don't know why but Zhou Yang, the MC in this... more>> novel, is just too scheming for my taste. His manipulation isn't sitting well with me and I can't point out exactly what's wrong. The romance between him and the Moodys (ML, which I think has a weird name) is a bit awkward and cringey for me. It's not actually bad, and their interactions made me smile sometimes, but most of the time, it was nah.

Full of face-slapping moments, which I loved. But overall, this novel is just so-so for me. Not really bad, but not that great either. You should decide for yourself if you're going to try this out. Don't let my review deter you from picking this up, maybe you'll like this <<less

The initial part of the story was interesting enough. However, the later parts felt rather boring and rushed. The premise of the story is quite strong with a revenge-scheme based plot, albeit with a few plot holes. And the relationship between characters and how they are related to one another actually makes sense. Nevertheless, I could not read this story without cringing and being pissed at the MC. I understand that MC’s gentle approach and over-indulging sentences are done due to the ML’s tragic situation, however, I really wished the author had worded some of the sentences better. Not to mention, the repetitive use of the same sentences whenever ML’s life is in danger makes the situation boring.

Moving on, another thing I was pissed about was MC’s so-called “one of a kind in the whole empire” SS mental power. MC boasts about how strong his SS mental power is, and how he has killed people by messing with their brains. However, MC’s op SS mental power fails to be useful in dire situations. All in all, the translation was great but the only reason why I finished reading the whole thing was because I felt obligated to see the story to it’s end. To be honest the number of hate comments for this story is a bit to much... I mean the story itself isn't too bad, the plot and and the story itself is pretty good (although it's a bit cliche)... But, overall it's still considered good, so I don't understand why there's so much hate for this story.

The story is not bad but not very interesting. As it’s quite cliche in most part, so it’s not bad but for me just like passing time when reading it.
But I do love MC character, MC is very cunning and super op, lol where usually the ML is. But MC quite dominate, scheming in the outside world and super clingy and coquettish with ML. And ML for one is the pitiful one and the kindest one. The story touch alot of politics, and supper s*upid villains. A good past time read, but for people who read alot similar story may find it just so. Tq

I'm just kind of detached from the characters so far. The MC has no personality or career other than being incredibly green tea, and also being the best looking person in the galaxy, to where his father, grandfather, and everyone else oggles him every time they meet, but on paper just generically chinese (black hair, good skin, and that's all there is to him, even though a chunk of every chapter goes into describing how captivated everyone is with his looks). For me though, this story was a little too...? I can't put it to words, maybe cringe? Not that it's that bad, but just the way the story was executed made it like some sort of a childish story. The idea is pretty good but I feel like the author forced some stuff in here.

I’m refraining from rating this novel because I do feel that how much I’ve read is still toolittle to judge this.

However, personally, I’ll be stopping at this chapter because I feel like I wouldn’t enjoy reading this novel further.

At first glance, it seems that this novel is about revenge. I expected it to be angsty and scary, full of face-slapping and drama, but actually it is pretty light reading. There is revenge and a fight for the throne, but they aren't too detailed or dragged out. There was a lot of face-slapping, but everything was achieved too quickly without long chapters about MC plotting and hidden agendas. Actually, at the beginning, chapters about face slapping and chapters with sweet encounters replaced each other and were pleasant to read. Most of the intense scenes were at the end, and there were some good plot twists that the author had foreshadowed beforehand. It wasn't bad.

I would detect some stars because I don't think it was the best-written story. Yet I liked MC too much. He is a willful, scheming, thick-faced, and sarcastic person. He is a bad person who has only ML in his eyes and is nice and honest only to him. It was funny that such a two-faced person became clingy and qocuetish with his lover. He definitely isn't a good person, but I think his actions are justified. From childhood, he was surrounded by scheming people who wanted to harm him, and he did what he had to survive. I enjoyed his shaming and how fast he changed his face. It was really interesting to observe. And ML is a righteous person who would never use those underhanded methods that MC so loves, but still, they love each other for who they are. I loved that because ML is such a good person, MC tried to be a decent person himself, but most of all, I loved that he never lied to ML and was always open, and on the other hand, ML too never persuaded him to change. They have no secrets and respect each other. From the start, it reminded me of the story of beauty and the beast because of their appearances. I just loved that ML isn't beautiful and that MC loves his character and ignores his appearance completely. It never mattered how he looked; what matters is that he is a kind person and a hero. Also, their quantum-beasts are adorable. There was one moment that made me laugh uncontrollably.

In short, it's a decent story. I expected that there would be more details about how the investigations went, what methods were used, and how exactly the protagonist got the information, but it wasn't bad either because instead we get lovely and sweet interactions between MC and ML. I wouldn't say that this is the best work I have read, but it was entertaining; it's a light read, and the MC and ML are too likeable. The plot isn't bad either, so I quite enjoyed it. <<less

NOT a novel BUT a history book!!

This isn't called storytelling! This is just a summary of the events that might have happened. This is way too ridiculous honestly. It doesn't describe what the MC does or plans and how he plans. It just shows that he has a plan, he meets someone and then starts something and then in the next paragraph, it's over. There are barely any dialogues between people. No one knows how the face slapped people suffered. Nothing to be happy about. A bit of childhood is described and it was extremely heart breaking but it doesn't go into detail about what all was done to him, so the revenge plot feels flat. I was excited about the romance but mo just falls hard in a few days. Things just happened super fast there as well.

I do think this story deserves a five star. Imagine a relationship where both parties are equal. Such a rarity in BL novels.

MC is very cunning with a questionable bottom line, while ML is the holier one, though he is no fool. I find their relationship very heartwarming.

It's not a very incredible story in my view. I have nothing against shrewd or far from white lotus protagonists, but this MC sincerely waved a red flag at various times in my mind. It's... uncomfortable and unnatural, I don't know how to explain it. And yes, I understand his whole sad story and why he became that way, but that's it, having justification doesn't mean it should be accepted.

Probably many people will like the MC being the "active" shou in the story, but honestly for me it's just another... more>> story with an exchange of power and roles in a relationship that definitely sambas in a fine line of manipulation where it gives the illusion that for both being "honest" with each other their relationship is healthy.

I abandoned the story, but I really liked ML, being insecure and pessimistic, but at the same time someone who clearly shouldn't be underestimated. I would have stayed to see it bloom if I'd had more patience.

One more point I liked was that the spirit animals gained more attention in this story, the interactions between the fox and the ML made me sweet inside. <<less

The less than satisfying parts were the rest of the plot which was jagged and stitched together. In some places the author simply skimmed over large sections to focus on the main characters. In a slice of life story that would work, but this is an interstellar/mecha/empire setting. Why bother with the setting if the only use is to invent a fake royal family and use the sentinel setting? (Which barely plays a role)

Also, I'm all for the bad guys getting face slapped, but after the third or fourth preachy speech by the MC to the villain of the day, which they just nod and accept and sometimes have a personal revelation (unlikely) it gets stale. If I start to get impatient for the story to end, for me that's a flag that it's not holding my attention and the problems for me outweigh the enjoyment.

It might be different for others but I still can't give this much of a recommendation. <<less

I loved the equality in this book and the strong shou. In fact, I generally love the main relationship in this story, except where the shou makes the gong say some cringe-worthy things.

I thought there was a lot of interesting plot in this story, and a variety of different couples.

It was definitely an entertaining read, though the ending and some plot points remained unresolved (there must be a related novel...)

an okay read, I loved both the protagonists characters but I must say that there always seems to be something missing to this story...i don't know what-its good. Alright. everything that should flow, flows... no plot holes or anything but... hmmm anyways.

Story is no brainer despite it having "mistery" which I didnt like much, but over all is enjoyable, well written and really enterteining.

Would give more stars but somehow I really didnt find funny the superficial jokes about ML at the end and well it was like a really weird and rushed end of things.

It's fine. Not like amazing and captivating for me, not too exciting. But it is an easy read if you want a book to keep you company for a few days.

However, I really feel like this book is anti-ace. There is a character that is it is revealed they simply lack desire. Idk genetically or whatever reason given. They don't like touching people. And like all that is fine, folks come in all different ways and make all different decisions.

What I don't like is that the scene where this is revealed it feels like there is a lack of consent from the Ace partner and I am very uncomfortable with that.

So lower star rating for that.
