The Virtuous Omega Disguised as the Vicious Colonel

Colonel K is a legend of the Omar Empire. He single-handedly destroyed the Star Pirates Warship, with mercilessness and cruelty, and everybody trembled at the mention of him. Lan Yu, dignified and elegant, the model of thousands of Omegas, mistakenly became the black-hearted Colonel K.

In order to keep the persona from falling apart, from then on he punches the intergalactic beasts and kicks the bandits’ out of their nests, tore a mecha to pieces with his bare hands, and the corners of his lips picked up in a cold smile. As an Omega who is thinking about getting a husband and having a child, Lan Yu feels like he’s suffocating.

But the good thing is that he was once a movie star, with his amazing acting skills, no one noticed any difference between him and Colonel K, whose name was used to stop children from crying.

Except for his nasty rival, Lu RanKong.

Lu RanKong could always find the “Interstellar Butcher” Colonel K’s unnoticeable changes.

With the corpses of Star Pirates under his feet, the ion gun leaning on his shoulder, his hand on his hand-knitted woolen holster. With the wind still in his face, a corner of his uniform’s shirt lifted, showing an embroidered yellow flower. With skin scuffed fingers, a grim, bloodthirsty smile, his eyes filled with tears.

At night, he would only fall asleep if he was holding a teddy bear? He drank the nutritional supplements with no expression, but the bottle was labeled with ‘orange’ and ‘mango’ flavors.

Lu RanKong slightly narrowed his eyes. Why did this black-hearted K become more and more like a ♥ K?

Yet he found the other man f*cking attractive!

I meannn its cuteee but I dont like how the omega was goin to retire and stuff. MC really made me frustrated time to time making me annoyed to the core. But... the MC and ML are indeed a cute pair I ship haha but will not be re-reading this but the concept was so cool though. Like the mysteries and missions were interesting. It was my favourite part of the plot.

Completed this and just wanted to say, I have no idea what that 1 person who reviewed this negatively is talking about.

I didn't feel any of this unserious writing that they're talking nor do I recall any scenes where the leads are in tense moments when suddenly their appearances are praised and if there was, it wasn't even noticeable enough to break the immersion of the scene.

I was initially put off of reading this because of this review but after reading it, I can say with full confidence that the... more>> author had me engaged and on the edge of my seat every step of the way. And I lose interest in things very easily.

There are minor plot holes and the MC does lose some of his momentum after he gets together with the ML but it's not too bad. <<less

When I read the first chapter of this novel, I wonder why an omega living in a modern world with only male and female gender? Maybe some didn't realize this but it catched my interest so I keep reading. I know it was for some purpose but I didn't expect how this piece information was used on the later part of the story.

Almost half of the novel is prison event but it didn't destroy the story. This event is so important since it was the time where ML and MC cultivate feelings while in mission and recognize their feelings after the mission.

This is where the identity of MC slowly revealed.

Their enemy can enter anyone's body. If you read it, MC is actually from this world and was push aside by the enemy for years and forgot everything about his past after arriving at the modern world. Unexpected event happened, MC came back without his memories. The important part was, MC and ML actually know each other way back when they were still a child before MC enter the modern world.

Maybe the reason why they fell in love with each other is familiarity and sense of longing. After all ML didn't forgot the boy, which is MC, and continue to remember until they met again.

[collapse]

It's actually not bad. Just some event actually didn't sit well for me like the time where MC went in heat. I don't know how to explain but I think it's brain dead moment.

It was fine that the author didn't include the life of MC in modern world. It was stated that MC is an actor so its purpose is to act perfectly like a cold and ruthless person in interstellar world.

This story didn't need much detail about how they become more powerful and how they will build a big happy family. This story is more like uncovering the truth behind what happened at MC and ML when they were young. And how to deal with their enemy that made everything a mess.

It's a worthwhile read. When I arrived at the middle part. U suddenly felt deja vu. Now that I think about it, I may already read this one before.

Generally, the story was entertaining and had enough different elements to make it stand out from other omegaverse novels. There was a lot of action and suspense, too.

I only have a few minor complaints some of which might just be a problem of my preference differing from what was provided in the novel.

The MC, for one, left me feeling conflicted. At times I felt like he had a brain hole, lacking common sense and not having his priorities straight. He was supposed to be a good actor which entails remembering... more>> his lines properly. But then he goes off and keeps calling the injection medicine the wrong name for almost the whole novel, not just once or twice. At least, his behavior improves as he gets settled in into his new role of Colonel K. He grows from a spoilt princess in iceberg disguise into a more steadfast princess with stripped off vests.

Another thing that bothered me was how confusing the standoff between the antagonists and the main CP + outside help was during the climax. People kept switching in and out of each other's bodies in the middle of combat. It gave me a headache.

Then there are the children of the main CP. I dislike genius children in Chinese novels. It's my pet peeve. At least, we have a mild case here since the boy was only ahead of the average by roughly three months and the sister was ahead by about a year or two. It still irks me a bit, though.

But overall, the novel was still an okay read. Fast-paced, suspenseful and full of second hand embarrassment. <<less

It was charming story I really like when they are stuck in prison together. The characters were fun to watch. The story was different from the usual. Now what holds it back is world development in this was 1 star. It barely existed nor was it explored. A lot of world events never came back up again.

How does nobody question at the end that he was an omega in the military? How come friends from prison never visit? Also is it not a big deal when a prince marries his... more>> mortal enemy? <<less

If you’re looking for an actual plot, relationship building and a lot of funny bickering then you’ve found the right piece.

This is something that you might actually need to use your brain though! And in a fun way!

No dogblood, no vengeful exes or love rivals, no sh*t from in-laws. Just a fun read all around.

I liked aspects of this story; like how the MC transmigrated and was an actor in the previous world which helps him as he navigates the new one. I liked the prison arc, and I liked the ML. I didn't follow all of the plot lines regarding the lotans and felt like the author was all over the place wanting to put too many things into one novel.

I did not regret binge reading this holy shi-
Action, comedy, romance, mystery, and fluffiness, you name it. This novel has it!

I definitely enjoyed this story, so much. Of course, this one had plot holes, specially around the early chapters (first arc). I have so many questions but I just did not hardly think about it and patiently read --- boii did I find myself immersed! I'm actually quite curious on why many reviewers stated about how exciting the prison arc was, and it really is!
Spoiler

It was action and mystery packed, and made me doubt almost all of the characters. That's also where the MC and ML developed their relationship, unlimited bickering here and there lmao

[collapse]

Regarding the characters; MC and ML's dynamic are top notched. They suited each other pretty well, may it be their mission or romance wise! MC is OK, did had character development also but dang the ML.. ML is just chef's kiss!
Spoiler

Like who does not want a guy that will take over your consciousness when you're giving birth, and twice at that!! Lmaaaoo

[collapse]
Side characters are and antagonists are ok to so-so.

TLDR; If you want to read a light-hearted romance with action and mystery, with a loving couple and super adorable and respectful ML, this is worth the read! Definitely recommended. ( ̄︶ ̄)↗

A very worthwhile, totally recommended read.

This author has a lot of skill when it comes to combining humor, suspense and romance. Plus while each individual plot arc is a complete piece of the story the underlying main mystery is tightly held together and has few plot holes, if any, by the time the big end scenes come around. It takes planning and skill to subtly seed the pieces of the bigger puzzle through those individual events and not lose track of the development of the main characters. Also an additional... more>> shout out for having such a lovely relationship between the MC and ML. There aren't any big angsty scenes when secrets come out, they talk things through. Both learn to compromise and work as a team. They even address the whole both partners in dangerous jobs- if you don't respect your partner's competence you aren't respecting them. It always makes me happy to see this resolved with mutual respect.

Did I mention it's funny? Make sure you don't skip the extras. The #3 is especially hilarious. <<less

It's good.

I consider this a lighthearted comedy for the most part, with an actual plotline and a focus split fairly equally between the missions and the romance.

The MC and ML's relationship is really enjoyable, rivals to lovers and comrades-in-arms, and the relationship progression/the falling-for-each other very well written.

Spoiler

I also have a soft spot for unique Alpha-Alpha or Omega-Omega pairings in ABO settings, which the ML seriously thought was the case for some time (hahaha).

[collapse]

While I definitely agree with some of the reviewers who complained about the unrealistic army scenes (the fact that the MC is a Colonel and was more worried about his own image than realizing that his zero command experience might cause the death of his subordinates), I think it becomes pretty obvious that the author is writing a very fantasy-land military experience.

Spoiler

The MC is known throughout the land as a crazy psycho dude; his only squad leadership is overseeing their training. There's very little strategy or command in the first place (all the fight scenes involve the MC and ML doing their own thing and their squads automatically knowing what to do to "support" the two heroes).

Obviously, in a real military situation, this would be pretty absurd, but it's clear the author didn't research or chose not to include realism in favor of the humor and lightheartedness.

[collapse]

Otherwise, I personally very much enjoyed the overarching mystery, the different cases/mu*ders, the MC's lost background, and so on.

It's refreshingly different from many other interstellar romances and the banter between the ML and MC are some of the best I've read.

I also enjoyed the MC's character development. He goes from being extremely nervous/paralyzed with fear when anything happens (since his background is just normal-guy-actor), to gritting his teeth and doing what needs to be done despite that fear, doing his best to support his teammates and the ML.

Spoiler

I also love that even after the ML finds out the MC's "omega" status, they continue to be comrades-in-arms. The MC even confronts the ML about it, telling the ML not to treat him differently just because he found out about his status.

[collapse]

Author's other work (the Vampire one) is fantastic too. Highly recommend.

Kudos to the translation team, it was pretty good overall with only a few small issues. <<less

It's a good read with some weakness.

The adventure/ action and romance were blended rather well. It's a slow burn but commences to a pampering relationship. Though it is an ABO universe there is none of the usual angst and suppression and it isn't exactly the focus of this story.

The main story line centers about MC and ML chasing some undercover invaders while doing missions. The speed here is rather harsh. The action and mystery part is well lined out and makes sense. The romance part is OK, I especially... more>> like the flow between MC and ML, they are highly different but mix well together.

The things I dislike about this novel are the "ooc" of MC and the too long fights.

About the OOC... well the MC was an omega actor that transversed into an omega which pretended to be an alpha in the military and for reasons unknown (there will be an explanation later) rather crazy and feared by everyone. So MC decided to act out this character while in private being the total opposite. So when MC and ML work together he is acting out less and less... which is ok for the relationship build but he doesn't even act out in front of others anymore. vice-versa some of the cute things from MC seem to get lost too... like the knitting fable.

Perhaps that is due to the next thing I didn't like.... so high density of fighting and chasing. Yes it makes sense and is appropriate in the story but later 4 chapters for a fist fight were too long for me and I started to skip read. It tiered me out to the end. While the story itself hand had real dog blood I felt like those fights had it a lot. Can't exactly describe it but yeah... was annoyed by it.

So... it is a good read and entertained me but since the action and mystery are solved it doesn't feel like worth to read a second or third time. <<less

A great novel.

Really liked it and was pretty amazed by the plot.

Ended up mtling

... more>> I loved MC and ML character. Especially the ml, I would love to order one for myself. I mean he is so sweet to MC but MC doesn't get outdone by him. The reaction of people to MCs cold character are hilarious.

What got me sold was the plot twist at the end. All the loose string ends comes to a close. Pretty amazing.

The love between ML and MC is smooth. The transition is great, I mean it's not immediate fireworks. The more they get to know each other, the more it becomes clear that they are interested in the other. The inner turmoil of ML is great and it is well written and gives mls perspective properly. And how he comes out to MC and says that he doesn't care if he's an alpha or omega as long as it's him, he loves him.

The arcs of cases is also ok. But I was just like the previous K didn't have much interaction with ML but as soon as MC takes over, we find them going through the same missions. I mean really? What is this? Someone you have worked with more than 2 years but haven't interacted or have the same case. But then MC takes over and just for the longtians theylltdo the same mission. Well that felt kinda like a plot plan. I mean they know K is crazy and ML and him don't get along well but the higher ups still send them together for a mission where you need to avoid innocent victim killing. I mean what?! K is crazy and he doesn't care about killing innocent individuals.

Woah! I am pretty sure if the previous K were to do it, he would have killed all of them. The higher ups are careless. Although ML is strong but he can't really control K if he wants to kill a few.

Well just saying. Good thing our MC is a baby who doesn't like killing and is scared of blood. <<less

More like 3.5, but rounded up because it left me happy.

It's a feel good novel. It's not deep by any means and everything comes easy to the MC and ML, not necessarily OP, but thick plot armor.

I only had a couple of complaints. The romance goes from 0 to 1000 in like 1 chapter. The MC goes from acting like the cold original K to losing the act pretty quickly and the ending was abrupt. I think the author just isn't good at transitions. Not a big deal, but was... more>> a little jarring.

The last complaint I have is about the MC. He isn't a bad MC and I really get why people love him, but him going from bad ass military omega to virtuous omega just isn't my cup of tea. He isn't necessarily weak, but kind of a fraidy cat who cares more about face products than anything else. ML is a goofy alpha, but is very respectful to MC. No actually means no to him. I think there was maybe 1 forceful kiss, but definitely top tier ML for an Omega verse novel. Only part that I rolled my eyes about is the birthing center. I think ML's adversion to babies, was annoying and not cute/funny.

I think this novel was a pretty good length and the author never kept us hanging for too long. I was never really impatient for them to get together or the secrets to come out, so in that sense the author's pacing was really well done.

For anyone curious about how long it takes to come out MC's omega status:

Spoiler

chapter 82 is when the ML finally discovers MC is omega and it's all due to the MC going into an intense heat so lots of implied papapa time.

[collapse]

I would have liked more about MC's past in the extras. I wasn't a fan of the birthing extra, was just bizarre to me. The other extras were meh. <<less

If you haven't read it yet, READ IT. NOW.

I will put a caveat that the writing/translation style may not be for everyone and that it's not a perfect novel, but it's a solid adventure.

I don't know how I'd want it done, but I want a movie based on this. Or at least an animated mini-series.

The romance is cute adorable and the main pairing and their relationship from annoyed at each other to trusting each other to loving each other was done very well and moved hand-in-hand with the plot. I... more>> also really enjoyed that there is larger story plot holding everything together, one with mystery, adventure and action. Romance has a big part in story, but the adventure/mystery is what drives everything forward.

There are some cliches and a decent amount of inconsistencies, but the novel was just so much fun and a great time that I'm willing to overlook it.

I may edit this review once I'm done basking in how much I enjoyed it, but seriously, take the time to read the first 3-5 chapters first before evaluating. The novel truly worth giving it a shot. <<less

It's about 3 1/2 stars.

I enjoyed this story. I really liked the main couple and thought their personalities were well developed and the dynamic between them was entertaining as you saw them bicker and also be attracted to each other. The omega wasn't weak and frail and the alpha wasn't overly macho and h**ny. The possessiveness was at a nice level, it didn't feel creepy or like some where they are a second away from locking their partner up in a room. There was a real partnership and the mental... more>> domain part gave the dynamic some really interesting and unique parts of the story.

Spoiler

the giving birth scene was great and unique

[collapse]

I wish that there had been a bit more of the grandpa in the flashbacks and the ML's brother and housekeeper.
Spoiler

The Luo Yang and green alien relationship was fun and wish there was some more of that

[collapse]

The prison assignment was my favorite.

The bonus chapters, especially the very last one felt a bit off to me. I think that they probably needed to be fleshed out a bit more and be twice as long. They were ok, but because the rest of the story had set a standard that they fell short of, it was like they were rushed or missing something.

Will most likely reread some parts of this because of how much I enjoyed the main couple. <<less

First review ever.

I absolutely loved it. First thing I noticed was how well-written the characters are. Both the MC and ML have their own quirks and are such well rounded characters that don't fall flat. Both of them carry the story (admittedly at some point it's the ML carrying it) and it's very refreshing when most novels follow the same formula for the MLs (cold, aloof, arrogant). Loved how they tied all the loose ends and has significant foreshadowing. I'm used to reading novels where the romance is primary and... more>> all other things come later but here the action storyline was the driving plot and romance was secondary (but not forgotten). The action is long winded fir those not used to reading it but it's definitely well-written and the climax had me in the edge of my seat.

According to some reviews, the MC had a shift of character after his secret was exposed but I think it sits well with the background we were provided with; that the MC wanted to get married and have babies and all this military affair was never his thing. To me the changes were drastic enough to drop because the story still had a lot to offer. Pre-identity reveal bickering was my favourite though, wish they had kept it.

Spoiler

The ML taking over the pain of MC going through his heat was a new concept but when he tools over MC's mind and basically delivered the child himself, that was crazy but lovely

[collapse]

Honestly, the action was so good and the couple's interaction before MC's identity reveal was fabulous (even though that wasn't what I was here for) I want to see this adapted to an donghua. This has lots of potential. <<less
