Upon waking up, Ruan Xia had transmigrated into a webnovel that she had stayed up all night to finish reading. She had become the villain’s mother.

In the novel, after the death of her first husband, the original owner of the body had hooked up with a Mr. Perfect at the fastest possible speed. Worried and discontent that her son from her first marriage would become a burden on her, she heartlessly abandoned her son.

Having once held the best quality script and informed of future events, Ruan Xia looked at her still alive first husband as well as her future villain son. She sighed. She wanted to apply for a different script!

A pretty solid slice-of-life romance. It works as a simple feel good story. I find the brief thriller interlude a bit much for the overall tone, it sticks out a bit oddly, and I personally find the FL a bit silly and annoying in some ways, the son isn't my preference in personality type either, but that's just my own likes.

As others have said, the story is pretty dull. The MC has no character, the child is completely unrealistic even if he is kinda cute, and the ML has nothing going for him except his looks and money. Add on to that the complete lack of anything happening so far and I can’t go on. The first antagonist appeared but no one cared and she appeared and disappeared without making a single difference to the story except reinforcing what we’ve been continually told: we are a plastic couple and don’t... more>> care about each other. <<less

Spoiler

I love the male lead he is honest and supportive with his partner, respects her opinions and decisions and knows boundaries and morals. Only critique would be his views are a bit conservative at time (like men have to protect girls cause they’re weak and stuff). But thats not only him but all characters in this novel. (I think the author is a bit conservative)

Now to the MC tbh I don’t hate her she’s not a bad human nor a bad mother once she decided to treat the boy as her son. What I don’t like is how she is in a relationship examples are that clearly she has positive feelings towards the ML and knows about it after a certain point (I know not love in the beginning) but unlike the ML she always stays passive and doesnt like to take risks because she doesn’t want to be a clown for having positive feelings while he sees her as a friend/ buisness partner and nothing more (I know it may be due to insecurity and because she relies on him for her livelyhood (although she stated multiply that she doesn’t fear for it even if they broke up anyway) but like I said she doesnt wants to take risks and personally I dont like that trait) and even after she confirmed that he likes her (after having pushed all responsibility of confession to the ml) she still thinks that its his responsibility to “pursue“ her alone (like I said I think the author is a bit conservative) and doesn’t think that maybe she could pursue him and try to learn more about ML herself to see if she can love him. Basically I dont think her personality is bad nor is it particularly good, because it do is a bit boring, lazy and passive if she were to continues living alone but I think that it is imperative in a relationship that she takes responsibility and initiatives this is why I dont see the merrit in having her as a partner except that shes pretty and so that my child grows up with loving parents. Tldr to me her personality is not attractive, I’m not sold

The child is simply unrealistically smart and considerate I dont think the author did a good job there. Also I dont think children after reaching the stage past being dependent on a mother will instinctively be more likely to like their mother than their father but will simply like the one who gives them the most time, love and attention which is most of the time the mother.

The second ML I dont know enough about him yet but momentarily he a bit unnecessary in the story.

This story is so good. Even if someoneone would say it doesn't have that much twist than other novels. It made me realize how important it is to have a right attitude on bringing up children. Children are not just mushrooms that you can leave to grow on their own but the plant that you need to cherish all the way to their maturity. I like this 👍. Thank you translator-sama for picking this up. If it weren't for you we would be in the dark that this novel exist... more>> XD Much love <<less

I guess this story was okay. It's quite entertaining and ML successfully became a highlight of this story. I don't know if a man like him was really exist in the reality or not but still I admire his character so much.

Spoiler

He was a very responsible man. It could be seen when he married the original MC after she got pregnant even though it wasn't entirely his fault. I said "wasn't entirely" because ML was actually sober at that time and could prevent it from happening but he still chose to get along with MC's scheme.

After their marriage, ML treated MC well even though he disliked her. He respected her and gave her an extravagant life because she was his son's mother and also because she was his legally wedded wife. Even though he made an agreement with MC to not intervene with each other's life, he never cheated with someone else during their marriage no matter how bad his relationship with MC.

When MC changed for the better (because she was literally a different person inside), ML didn't fuss over the past and although he was curious about MC's sudden change, he didn't force MC to tell him the truth. He also always supported MC's wish even if it's against his own wish.

Aside from being a good husband, he was also a good father. Although he was busy, he always made time for Little Wang and often took care of him himself. He didn't get angry when the original MC ignored Little Wang because he didn't know what MC went through when she gave birth to Little Wang so he didn't want to judge MC easily because of that.

[collapse]

As for MC, she was a realistic character that we seldom met in transmigration novel. She didn't instantly get into wife and mother's role right after her transmigration even though she had a good husband and a cute kid. She chose to treat ML as a roommate (and an ATM) and Litte Wang as a nephew.

The romance between MC and ML were well developed. We could see the change of their relationship from being a stranger, friend, lover, and then a genuine husband and wife.

Although the plot wasn't something new and often used by other transmigration novel, I still enjoy this story at some point but it didn't mean I don't have any dissatisfaction.

Spoiler
  • Little Wang was overly intelligent and sensible for a kid of his age. He was like miniature adult and wasn't like a preschooler at all. It's not just in this story. I also often found similar "highly intelligent" kid in other transmigration novel and for me, it was a bit unrealistic.
  • I don't know what the author intended to do by making Qin Yu (original MC's 2nd husband) reborn. If it's for making MC fell in love with him, it was futile because MC wasn't the original MC and in this timeline, ML didn't die. If it's to make Qin Yu got his retribution after hurting his deceased wife, he could move on rather quickly from MC after seeing her not the same MC that he had in his heart. He also never regretted hurting his wife back then so I don't know what's the point of making him reborn. If the author wanted to make him repented, he should reborn before his wife's death so he could treat her better and make her happy.
  • Although the current ending was okay, I still want to know about Little Wang's future. In the original plot, Little Wang was supposed to be a villain and also the female lead's first love. Now that the plot has changed, what will happen in the future? Well, we could only leave it to our imagination.

Very slow romance. It's because the ML has no expectation from the MC. It's a marriage of convenience. Original wife schemed the ML and gave him a son. Because of that, he's very tolerant of her, even if she doesn't take care of their son. He lets her do whatever.

When MC transmigrates, first thing she did is save the husband so that she won't experience the bankruptcy and the other subsequent things in the plot after the husband died. I didn't like the MC at first. It's because of her... more>> treatment of the son. She wanted to treat the son like a good auntie instead of a mom. It's kinda reasonable because she did not gave birth to him and hasn't been with the son for a long time. But it's good that as the story progresses, she becomes closer and becomes a real mom to the kid, and slowly like the husband.

The husband is really good. He's loyal eventhough there's no intimacy between husband and wife. He's a very good dad. And treats the original mc's parents really well. According to how he used to interact with the original MC, he's always rewarding the original with tangible things. This ML is very different from other ML, I think. He got schemed willingly. As he said, it's a one-time indulgence, he never regretted it and never blamed anyone. He's just very thankful for getting a son. He's also very open and level-headed. Both husband and wife talks about things and is open if there are other lovers. (Where even if they're married, he wouldn't be angry if there's a boy toy, but fortunately the original MC only cared about money and things and not interested in others so she stayed loyal to her husband). I just wish he's more aggressive with the transmigrated MC because it's a very slow progression. But the process of falling in love is a good read.

Spoiler

Aside from preventing the son from being a villain, the plot also includes people trying to force MC and ML to divorce. This includes the original's 2nd husband who was reborn. It was funny how he plotted and coveted the MC till he saw her shopping and bargaining at the market, his image of a goddess fell and he completely gave up.

It was short, well, I felt it short, I liked both protagonists, and not to mention their little son. With the only thing that leaves me with a sea taste in my mouth, it is the author's thought about Ruan xia's second pregnancy, but in the end it is only a novel, and it fulfilled its objective, which is to entertain: 3

So good and so refreshing. The FL is not the kind of FL that after transmigrating she already adapted in the new life and already want to solve the problem between the original owner of thw body and the ML.

Slow burn romance but so worth it. And the interaction between the FL and the baby is so cute. Highly recommend!! 5/5!!!!

I found this novel kind of underwhelming. I read the reviews with a lot of expectations, but it kind of fell short of it. I kind of felt the romance of it all just wasn't there or barely progressed. (It's really slow in pacing.) I kind of expect some sweet scene of romance, but there wasn't really much of that. The only saving grace is the ML I guess. He is mature in terms of his reactions and responses. He's well thought out person and doesn't make assumptions. I do... more>> agree that this type of reaction from the MC is the most realistic out of all novels. You can't expect someone to play someone they're not perfectly. But let's be honest, we read novels for flamboyance and overexaggerated scenes. Reason why we watch tv or movie with superhero with powers. To experience the point of view of someone else's life that doesn't typically happen in real life. The MC was just... normal. Beside the beauty that she gained when being transmigrated, but she's really normal. : (Maybe I missed some nuances through when it's through MTL as it went through google translate. The only comedic relief is from the son. But overall, it an okay read. Not sure if I could sit through it again though. <<less

I love the FL but I adore the ML. He gets jealous but never takes it out on the FL, he hides how he is feeling and tries to act normal until she pries it out of him. And how he takes care of her during "that time of the month" is so sweet. And of course the cute kiddo! Really a lovely family :)

It doesn't bore. It is interesting to see how the couple interacts. I am not giving it a 5, because for a 5, I need to fall in love with the characters, and while I find the story interesting, and I like the relationship dynamic between the two, and I want to see a happy ending, I am not especially attached to either of the characters.

The pace is certainly quite slow and a lot of people probably have opinions about MC's character, but I felt it was a pretty enjoyable story. I like that it's genuinely focused on the child; many stories end up forgetting the kid eventually when the MC starts a company or something. This one is about how MC slowly becomes a part of their family.

Characters: 4/5

The child is super adorable and smart without being a freaky super-IQ alien. The ML has all the qualities of a stud, but he's not overbearing... more>> nor overly cold. He's a very responsible person and the perfect father (and husband honestly, except the fact that he may not be able to offer romantic love). I actually like the MC; she's a lot more realistic than the ones we normally read about, who have crazy thoughts about revenge or wild ambitions. She's realistic and practical and loves to enjoy life. Is she a bit too cold sometimes, particularly the beginning? Sure. She might not be a great person, but honestly, her reasoning makes sense and we see her grow to be more loving and caring towards people she is technically entirely unrelated to. Romance is very very slow, but I enjoyed this type of story where the bonds gradually form.

Plot: 4/5

It's very slice of life, which I'm fine with, but at the same time nothing spectacular. It's a nice change to all the crazy drama that other stories would have.

Writing & Translation: 5/5

A commenter pointed out flaws in the grammar so I thought it'd be a crappy translation, but I haven't had any problems. Maybe not every sentence is perfect, but as a whole it flows decently and the update speed is great. Thanks for the hard work! <<less

People with perfect looks and body really have it easy complimented with just an okay personality.

It has a realistic side of story in which the MC didn't accept (in her mind only) to be d mother ofthe child, rather she would be a good aunt and at least take responsibility for th pitiful son. The ML also, didn't fall for MC easily. He also admitted that he let himself be pitted just to "indulge a moment" with the beautiful MC.

Probably, the downside is the monotonous story since this is a... more>> slice of life. A little entertaining since this is not the so usual shoujo novel.

Will rerate after I finish (only chapter 43 in the actual or raw novel) <<less

It's good, watm story, and quite rational

I love the FL character, she is true to herself, including her mother-son relationship. I mean that was how true it is, "You can't just accept another children. There will be a different about your feeling."

I don't about others, but for me, her feeling to her son is more true

This story has its moments and it's quite a good read. The development of their relationship is interesting because of both protagonists' mindset and their initial relationship dynamics. The scenes with their little boy is also very cute and funny. A good read for everyone who likes family stories.

I MTLed the novel and finished it within the day.

If you are looking for a short and sweet story then this novel is for you. There’s no heavy conflict/ drama in this novel which kinda makes it a bit boring. But, the story is sweet and the interaction between the FL and ML is just right, you can’t help feeling a little bit unsatisfied with the ending.

Overall the story is good and is a nice read if you want to past time while waiting for your favourite novels to update..

It was ok I didn't mind in the starting that author wanted to keep it real not like other QT novels.. However it got boring like really boring although ML was good but the protagonist is really boring.. No drama, no feelings, no ambitions, no talents, nothing. I was keep on waiting that now we will have some drama some romance some fluff but there was none I read till 98 Chapters ?

Other thing I don't like : exaggeration of how beautiful ruan xian is like dude there is limit... more>> but author keep repeating same sh*t of portraying her as goddess of beauty

Also I don't like was how mature they showed the kid like bruh ? Ain't no kid is like that <<less
