“The Girl Who Outsmarts Them All!”

Liliana, a duke’s daughter and candidate for the crown prince’s fiancée, realizes she’s been reincarnated as the villainess in an otome game she played in her past life. She is constantly targeted by her father’s political enemies and foreign assassins, and to make matters worse, she can’t speak due to an illness. Unable to call for help or chant spells in battle, it seems like her fate is sealed—until…

“If I can’t speak, why not just master silent casting? Oh, that worked.”

Determined to avoid being caught up in the story’s events, Liliana becomes an unstoppable force, thwarting monster stampedes and destroying human trafficking rings. With her unrivaled magic skills and intellect, she shatters the predetermined fate of the game world.

Thus begins this otherworldly reincarnation fantasy of clandestine battles, where the invincible heroine defies all odds!

I will go as far as to say that the author is not particularly skilled at writing children, even considering that these characters would have matured beyond modern standards for their age due to their upbringing as noble / royal heirs.

That said, interpreting s*xual meaning into their conversations is more than just far-fetched, to the point of bordering projection.

Yes, even some primary school kids are precocious and pay each other compliments of treating the other gender in such a way is something they have learnt from their surroundings. And no,... more>> none of that is sexual. And yes, young boys will occasionally blush from embarrassment when faced with a smiling beautiful girl. That doesn't mean that pubescent hormones are involved.

And this whole portion is such a tiny aspect of the story that I'm genuinely baffled why anyone would focus on it so much. I normally wouldn't even have included it in my review, but given the accusatory tone of the previous one I felt compelled to defend this work.

I have read novels where children ended up being depicted or interacted with other characters in a s*xual tone, and this is extremely far from it.

Now to the actual review:

It's overall solid, but to me it lacks a hook, or perhaps any source of emotional attachment.

The protagonist is highly rational, and even the previous life mainly serves as a source of information, and not at all as part of her character. However, her initial character and motivations are basically also gone. She likes learning about magic, but not to the point of getting excited, and pretty much all other actions are just calculated for the sake of survival.

Hence I personally found it difficult to empathise.

Most of the other characters are relatively shallow token characters as they usually appear in otome games, but not written in a way that makes their interactions a source of comedy.

As a whole, it feels more like a mystery novel of unraveling hidden information and plots rather than a typical magic or romantic fantasy, though I wouldn't be surprised if romance plays a role once the story moves on from the childhood period (as mentioned before, there is no romance at that age - even the her fiancé views the whole arrangement as political and judges based on whether she'd be a capable queen).

It's not written poorly overall, but it feels like it's missing something to be worth rating it at 5 stars. <<less

The translator is doing a great job. Which I rated it two stars a whole star for the good translating.

Anyways, my main issue is that these are characters that are literal children who are being talked about as if they're "good with women" And scenes where an 8-year-old is blushing at a 6-year-old.

Or literal flirting going on between prepubescent children.

... more>> The author if this was intended is absolutely disgusting.

Every single one of these characters could have been written as 16, 17, 18 or 19 even and the main character instead of gaining her memories at 6, could have gained her memories at like 15. Personally, I would prefer them all be adults instead of teenagers. But it would certainly be preferable than what is currently going on. Literally nothing in the story would need to change and they already act like 16-year-olds anyways.

It is solely the fact that they are literal children that makes me obscenely upset.

Increase their age or get rid of the talks of romantic and/or s*xual nature of their relationships. <<less

I agree with Rcpsycho's viewpoint.

Although interesting, the story still keeps the main cast of characters in a relatively young stage. The protagonist Lillianna is 6 years old, and the crown prince and Austin are just 1 year older yet they show no signs of child-like behavior and thought processes. Lillianna is a reincarnated person so she may have some justification to her actions but the other two is just down right unrealistic. I would prefer it if they just time-skipped and moved to plot to when they are at least... more>> 12 y.o.

And there are also numerous plot holes/frustrations I need to get out of my systems.

Spoiler

the carriage assassination scene should elicit writing a report to the duke, as an attempt to end one of his child's life is made and she is most likely the crown prince's fiance out of all the candidates yet the duke did nothing. And Lillianna's brother, despite saying that he wanted connection, and despite both of the sibling come to the royal palace and chat with the prince, he didn't even try to match is timing with his sister to make a "coincidental" meeting. It seems like the guy just saw his sis like a poor cat on the streets: pitiful but ignorable.

And also The characters here, all including the MC and the side characters, lacked any defining traits. They seem to blend into 1, the difference is that some has more information than others and that's it. They all feels like a lesser version of all the characters in Frieren, all are expression less individuals that possess varying degrees of screen time and info. And because of that the novel lack any substance, there is no emotion being expressed hence forth it feels lacking. I feel like I'm reading a boring diary from a medieval person.

Skippable boring rant:

Spoiler

And Seriously?? The kid is 6 years old and when she said that "My mother sent me a poisonous flower to me on my birthday" all the reaction she got, from a person she DELIBARATELY TRUST IN, is just a simple "your reaction is different than other kids". LIKE WHAT?? This mage and Lillianna already have a foundation of trust and honesty between them and when she revealed her trauma like that you just f*ckin ignore her. Her grandmother, the mage, the brother all does this shit. The grandma even went above and beyond, sure she cares (only a little bit) but the way she cares is soooooo mean. She just went to Lillianna, gave her a cookie, and said hey girl don't hate the papa and granddaddy too much because they only care about 1 person. I don't CARE about what excuses you make lady, if they love a person then they should've love their lover's kids too no cap, the way this family has been acting is just pure neglect ab*se, verbal ab*se, behavioral ab*se and communication issues.

The only normal person in this novel, the only REALISTIC person dare I say is the maid, Marianne, she's the only one who's got emotions, she is the only one who cries for the protagonist, mourns and feels relief for the protagonist. And is the only person who consistently takes actions to help/protect her. Damn, if the protagonist wasn't straight I would've LOVE for Lilianna and Marianne to just have a yuri ending and gtfo outa this hell hole.

I personally love this novel—the storyline is captivating and consistently leaves me wanting more. If there were a paid membership tier offering access to advanced chapters, I would have subscribed without hesitation.

The story flows smoothly, remains coherent, and feels thoughtfully crafted.

Contrary to some other reviews, I find the portrayal of the children to be entirely believable. As a parent of two children myself, and having interacted with children from less privileged backgrounds, I can attest that their behavior and thought processes depicted in the novel are realistic. A child's environment,... more>> upbringing, and life experiences play a critical role in shaping their maturity. For instance, children of divorced parents (my kids) often share different sides and say different things or even lie with each parent—sometimes in ways that are unsettling. Similarly, in many underprivileged parts of the world, children often develop an adult-like pragmatism and emotional resilience far beyond their years, it's sad but they exist. <<less
