if you’re like me, don’t read the comments on the story. OgMC r*pes the ML and that is how their son is conceived (this is not the spoiler) the spoiler is that this is more or less swept under the rug? By the narrative but also by the people in the comments. Just bc he sent money to her that means that it’s over and doesn’t need to really be revisited.

MC is seemingly not at all interested in genuinely co-parenting. She assumes the absolute worst of the ML despite him giving her no reason to and does not communicate with him when he proves that he is more than willing to defer to her and listen to her input. The ML is perfect but like, considering he was drugged, r*ped, and entirely unaware that he had a son for 4 years (a product of said r*pe) he’s very willing to be in his son’s life. And not in a demanding way. He doesn’t force her to let him in. He doesn’t just show up. He works from behind the scenes and only when they run into each other does he confront her.

He gets flack from “skulking” around to meet XingXing but like, at first he had to make sure that they were actually father/son. Then did his best to talk his son without overstepping boundaries or scaring him. He just wanted to see his son at first but wound up interacting with him. Again, not forceful. And when he needed to, he retreated. I just don’t find this aspect as “creepy” as the comments were trying to make it.

Also... Okay so he definitely didn’t need to follow behind Cheng Huan and scare her. But like, he recognizes that? His intention was to watch over her bc she’s all alone in a high crime area. But when he realizes that he scared her, he immediately pulls back. He regrets his actions.

Basically, he’s not the villain that the comments want him to be/are making him out to be. He’s surprisingly thoughtful given the position he’s in.

“Why are you only taking his side?” Bc the comments are 100% on her side and any comment that tries to point out her hypocrisy or how her selfishness can negatively impact her son, are disliked. I’m just trying to add perspective bc while he might not be perfect, she for sure isn’t. At all. And to act otherwise would be akin to reading with your eyes half open.

Plot holes galore. Or, rather, just nothing is fleshed out. ML was r*ped. He doesn’t have any negative feelings toward the MC? Like he’s more so apathetic and distant than angry or repulsed (which would be more than fair) ? He doesn’t have any apprehension or hesitation regarding XingXing? Speaking of the baby, there are no lasting effects from his neglect? The MC so easily accepts transmigrating. I’m a big proponent for reading the story for what it is and “suspension of belief” but cmon, this is a lot to suspend belief for.
