Yu Shu died once, only to realize that she was nothing more than cannon fodder in an ancient tale.

In her previous life, Yu Shu was the most favored princess with the renowned war god Xiao Jingyao as her fiancé. Her status was unmatched, and no one could surpass her.

But a sudden turn of events led to Xiao Jingyao marching his army into the imperial capital, toppling the dynasty. Yu Shu became his captive, a golden caged bird in the harem.

A bowl of medicine took her life, and when she opened her eyes again, Yu Shu had transmigrated into the Ninth Princess of Xijiang, once again destined to be sent into Xiao Jingyao’s harem.

Reborn, Yu Shu no longer harbored any thoughts of Xiao Jingyao.

Yet, when she met Xiao Jingyao again, wearing the same face as her previous life, her veil slipped, revealing her features. What she saw was Xiao Jingyao’s incredulous expression, followed by a suppressed, tender whisper, “Yu Shu…”

Emperor Xiao Jingyao had one true love, but sadly, his love was dead—a painful, irreversible wound in his heart.

Xiao Jingyao’s harem was empty, and he lived a life of abstinence. No woman who tried to climb into his bed ever succeeded.

Until the Ninth Princess of Xijiang entered the palace. Xiao Jingyao’s demeanor changed drastically. He doted on her excessively, demanding her presence by his side every day and even naming the child she bore as the crown prince.

Everyone said it was all because of her face. Yushu covered her face: in truth, it was her soul that won him over.

The Tyrant's Adored Darling: A Weak-Willed Princess and Her Overly Obsessed Tyrant

3 stars (Because, while the male lead was a tyrant, he wasn't a nasty scum. But was he good? Not for my taste...) (·•᷄‎ࡇ•᷅)

Let's talk about this story. We have our male lead, Xiao Jingyao, your classic overbearing emperor who once loved and lost. And then we have Yu Shu, the beloved princess-turned-captive-turned-dead-ex-lover-turned-reincarnated-princess. With all that history, you'd think this would be a tale of revenge, power struggles, or at least some intense emotional turmoil. But nope,... more>> what we get is... well, something else entirely. > (ভ⤙ ভ ") <

Not exactly spoilers... but can give some hints of the story development...

Spoiler

So, Yu Shu is reborn. She remembers everything. She knows this guy poisoned her in her past life. She despises him. I mean, she has every reason to hate him, right? And for a moment, you think—yes! Finally, a heroine who's going to turn the tables, escape, make him suffer, something!

But then... he recognizes her as the lover that died, so he forces her into his palace, and... that's it. Just like that. /ᐠ - ˕ -マ⁩

No grand revenge, no cold indifference, no attempts at escape. She just accepts her fate and starts acting like her past trauma never happened and acting coquettish...

okay then ദ്ദി (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵) ✧

[collapse]

I sighed. Loudly. ('''– ⌓ –) =3

Spoiler

I love strong-willed heroines — someone who takes charge, holds grudges where they're due, or at the very least, makes her captor work for her love. But Yu Shu? She just... gives in. And not even in a slow-burn, emotionally complex way. It's like after she gets dragged into the palace, glares at him for a moment, and then, okay, since it's like that...

What ca I do? ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭

So, one minute, she's supposed to hate him, the next, she's acting all coquettish like she didn't literally die in their last relationship.

And Xiao Jingyao? Oh, he's still the same cold, brooding tyrant. Sure, he's obsessed with her (to an almost unhealthy degree), but has he changed? Learned from the past? Maybe even apologized? Nah, he just forced her and showers her with attention like nothing happened... of course he treats her better... but I wish I could see him suffer and have more heartache...

And then there's the ending. Whew. I checked twice to make sure my copy wasn't missing chapters. It was that rushed. No real closure, no satisfying confrontation, no big emotional payoff—just a quick wrap-up as if the author suddenly ran out of word count.

[collapse]

Would I tell you not to read it? Nope! Everyone has their own taste. If you enjoy devoted but domineering male leads, heroines who are more on the soft side and lack both emotional and physically strength, and romances that seems at first to be high on drama but aren't, this might be exactly what you're looking for. But if you, like me, were hoping for a bit more strength from the heroine and a love story that acknowledges past betrayals instead of sweeping them under the rug... well, then... sorry (•̯́ ₃ •̯̀)

Well, you know,

Happy reading! ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́) ✧ <<less
