Ten years after her parents’ divorce, the grandmother who raised Chu Tingwu passed away, leaving her to be shuttled back and forth between relatives.

At this moment, an entity claiming to be a “Cub Rearing System” suddenly appeared, wanting to bind itself to her and cultivate her into an outstanding graduate of its program.

Just as Chu Tingwu was about to refuse, she saw her personal attributes on the system interface—

[Name: Chu Tingwu]

[Species: Cat]

Chu Tingwu: Something’s not right here…

Due to a bug, the system had identified her as a kitten.

Her stats were those of a cat, but her appearance remained human.

How should an exemplary human-cat be raised? Sleeping, causing mischief, eating until she became as round as a pig?

However, the reality turned out to be quite different: extreme sports, expert bird-catcher, master mouse-hunter, catching invasive fish barehanded with dynamic vision, using camouflage and tracking skills to film documentaries of rare birds, nearly making the social news as a suspected retired special police officer.

For the first lesson in cultivation, the system said gravely:

“A cub cannot live alone. We need to find you a cat mother… I’ve already detected a suitable candidate nearby. Go to the target location quickly, little one, and let the cat mother adopt you.”

Chu Tingwu looked up as an advertisement fluttered into her hand:

[Sunshine Pet Hospital: Limited-time half-price pet neutering, one month of free food with every pet adoption]

Chu Tingwu: Who exactly is adopting whom here?

It's a slow paced, easy going novel.

The MC gets mistaken for an animal cub and adopted by a system who sets her species to "Cat" allowing her to gain superhuman physique like a cat.

The story is multifaceted though and does not revolve around her being a "Cat" 247. Instead it explores her life as she grows up, meets people, heals of past sorrow and eeks out a future for herself.

I do recommend this novel, just be warned it's not entirely centered around her new.... race? It also tackles many facets... more>> of her everyday life. <<less

A lovely slice of life. The machine translation puts the names and genders all over the place (eg. A single cat can be 355, Three Five Five, Sanwulu, or San Wu Wu, or Er-Wu-Wu), and the author's misinformation on wolves was very annoying, and I got bored in the parts about gameplay (especially near the end), the quality of the overall work is unquestionable. 5 stars.

The System Mistook Me for a Cat is about a young girl who gains a system that gives her the ability of a cats except she's still human. With her newfound skill, she forms heartfelt bonds with the cats in a local adoption center especially with a certain motherly cat, each cat poses unique interaction that make my heart go awwwww. This wholesome, slice-of-life story captures the joys of and dreams of a cat owner, something which would help me alot had I have the system. This story is perfect... more>> for cat lovers like me, seeking a heart warming cat story. If you like cats, this is the story for you! No romance, no blood shed only pure floof and wholesomeness :3 <<less

(c25) Well, this story is exactly what the title says:

A 15-year old girl with divorced parents bonds to a "system" designed for raising animals that have lost their parents... and the system is unable to tell the difference between a human and a cat.

She becomes something of a cat-based superhuman; various types of hilarity ensue.

... more>> I usually dislike Chinese stories, but so far, this one has been pretty fun, though the chapters are rather long.

UPDATE (c128) : This story is more hillarious than ever. Everything from before still stands. There is still yet to be any romance. <<less

This is a very light-hearted story set in the modern world. I'm a big fan of stories where there's a single paranormal character in an otherwise modern world. This story gives off a similar vibe to supernatural slice-of-life anime/manga. However, most such stories intermittently throw in world-ending threats, whereas this story retains its relaxed approach throughout.

I especially appreciated the relationship between Chu and the System. Light spoilers:

It's surprisingly common for wuxia characters to act with extreme entitlement, cursing out the system every time they are even slightly dissatisfied with it. Even in stories where the protagonist gets along with the system, there's usually an underlying air of disrespect. On the other hand, Chu and her System have a far healthier relationship, with disagreements settled via negotiation.

That's not to say the System never makes mistakes (thinking Chu is a cat being the most obvious), but it's happy to accept Chu's feedback. Part of what makes this relationship both interesting and friendly is that the Chu and the System have differing (but not conflicting) goals. That is, Chu wants has a strong interest in becoming a successful human whereas the System wants to train Chu to become a successful cat. Had Chu given permission, the System would have happily helped her cheat on exams, not valuing the process of studying. The System is happy to support Chu in her human endeavors, with Chu generally being the one to tell the System to not go as far. In contrast, Chu prioritizes becoming a successful human. Hence, much of Chu's use of her abilities is either human-focused or focused on improving the relationship between animals and humans. Chu enjoys the system-granted abilities, but she lacks the air of impatience/desperation often seen in other System-oriented fiction.

This story is exactly what it says on the tin. After losing her grandmother who took care of her after her parents divorce, our MC, a young 15 year old girl finds herself attached to a system designed to train orphaned animals and help them grow up... except for the fact that she's a human. The system changes her body to be more cat-like, giving her cat-like reflexes and senses, the ability to speak and cat, among other cat-like abilities. The story follows our MC just living her life while... more>> being trained by the system, becoming close to cats and other animals and enjoying her newfound cat powers to the fullest.

If you want a relaxing, comedic SOL centered around cats then I highly recommend this. The chapters are quite long, but I spent most of them laughing while reading. This used to have a whole host of magic and fantasy related tags (fantasy world despite also having the real world tag, ability steal, magic formations, etc) which I got rid of because they're simply just not accurate. <<less

4.3 / 5 ⭐

I give it 5⭐but actually it's 4.3 ⭐

I want to make it short: please remove the Romance tag from the information.

... more>> A pretty nice slice of life of the one and only Human-Cat on Earth. Her life as a high school student living with her "family" Mother Cat and the System.

Have you read a manga with Male MC that ends up venturing in every aspect of life? Then yes this novel is similar like that. The Female MC, not yet adult, ends up have many projects in so many ventures. Mainly developed because it's related to her love for extreme sport, cat, and a Chinese student (need to make something that's the purpose is learning).

One chapter feels like twenty chapter, each chapter is so long but you won't get bored because the interactions between the MC and the Cats are super adorable.

I learned something from this novel. The novel gives the reader knowledge/science.

The downside is because there's no romance on this novel. I would have dropped this novel from early if I knew there's no romance but after so many chapters I understand why we don't need romance in this novel, because with the FL character, I don't think she's someone who can be in a relationship. Idk, I feel like she's too stoic and stiff? She didn't explain her feeling. Actually this is a downside of many Chinese Female MC, they usually are stoic and pretty cold.

Overall I like this novel but it's just a one time read.

Thank you translator team for bringing this book here. <<less

The novel is good I'll give 4.5/5.

But I really can't thank translator because it is their fault that reading their work infuriates me so much. Th ever changic names is not even the big problem (names of everything but people is not constant and changes between english, chinese and other variations) but the ever changing gender of people (in most cases it is probouns) is trigering me very much because it ruins all the immersion of reading. I'm still not sure of the gender of the blind retired teacher because... more>> of that even after reading more than 100 chapters.

It is readable - very surprisingly yes. If the "translator" had ever read what they post then I wouldn't be writing this "review" now.

If you don't want to do something decently then just don't do it at all. I like the novel but I want to enjoy reading it. <<less
