The Support Magician Who Was Kicked Out of The Hero Party Will Begin His Adventure

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

The Sage, Eto, who belongs to a hero party, was being treated discriminately because his party couldn’t recognize the value of support magic, which he is only good at.
Even so, Eto still tried hard to be useful for his party. However, when he was being misunderstood and shunned by his childhood friend, who was also the master swordsman in that party, he began to think it was the time for him to leave the party.
Then, following the words of the hero asking him to leave the party, Eto finally decided to leave the hero party.
Thus, Eto begins his adventure, freely using support magic that was forbidden because of how useless it was.
“Eto! Where did you get this much power!”
“Haven’t I said it was from support magic? It’s the power that I already had from the start, just like the ‘hero’ title you have.”
When they met again, Eto’s power had grown beyond his own imagination and beyond the power of the hero.
※This is not a story about revenge. I just hope you enjoy watching the characters that appear in the story grow as the main character begins his adventure.

Begins pretty decently and is entertaining for the first few volumes. Volume 1 is basically the description in longform and after that most of the focus is on the MC and his new party which I enjoyed. I read ahead with MTL and ended up dropping at the end of volume 4 though.

As the description says, if you're looking for a revenge arc, you should look elsewhere. That said, I expected *some* justice and was disappointed. I personally also just find the hero character incredibly annoying and all over the... more>> place.

Spoiler

The hero loses to the MC in a mock battle but is never really punished for mistreating the MC or kicking him out. From skimming through later volumes, it looks like the author tries to redeem the hero with some self-pity chapters where he regrets his actions. Then, starting volume 10, there are entire volumes from the hero's perspective. I don't think it works very well given how cartoonishly bad the hero was early on--it's just impossible for me to empathize with the character at all. The only person that ever really gets punished for mistreating the MC is a liason (a super minor character you forget even exists) that embezzled the MC's wages--everybody else gets off pretty much scot-free. Also, the childhood friend stays with the hero party despite everything, and as far as I can tell, she stays for the remainder of the series.

Not really bad, but not outstanding either.

The point that bother me is the author try to justify why X character act that way, but that stay sloppy in the end.

MC was kick out of the team for 2 reasons :

  • The mage see him as a threat for her, since MC was better valued at the very start of the journey
  • The hero wanted too for... reasons, officially because he believes in the individual strength, that clash against MC who is specialized in supporting others.
The hero motive is really unclear. He tries... more>> to appeal reasonable, but in opposite of his "reasoning" there is no real motives for him to wants MC departure. When we see him again later, he appears childish, act like a snob and ask for a duel then claim MC cheats because he used his support magic to win. But there is no real grudge or purpose to his action so far. In resume, the hero act as if he has a personal grudge against MC, but he didn't know him for long and there is no event mentioned at all who could have trigger an inferiority complex, that weird.

MC's childhood friends is "supposed" to be better than others because she really didn't notice MC's harassment. But it's hard to swallow. She didn't notice MC change his fighting style, but he was mage banned to use his magic. His work in battle was to keep potion safe and give them when needed.

Everyone around them spreading rumors about MC behavior with girls, alright, I give her that. If 30 peoples say something, it's hard to believe everyone lied, but when she did confront MC about it. It's not to listen to his version of what going on, but to him admitting his fault. And somehow, after MC left, she learns that all the drama around MC were lies, but still, she believes in the hero and his party.
Spoiler

She has still faith because the hero truly believes that forbidding the MC (a mage) to uses magic was a good idea.

Also, she understood that Lana the mage behavior toward MC was directly the reason why everyone in the team look down on MC. She sees her treated him like a s*ave, but she still likes her, worse she appreciates her combative trait. At this point, childhood take apart, I wonder if she was a friend to begin with.

[collapse]

MC claims that he can't be in a team anymore, because he was bullied in the hero team, he can't have trust in other anymore. That why he bought s*ave as teammates. But it's never show in the story, MC has no problem to communicate at all. He doesn't have a negative view of the world, even a little, or just being overcautious around peoples. That make me think the author just make him bought s*aves like needed accessories in the setting. Because MC didn't buy them right away, but after a year of being solo. He didn't talk about the need of teammate at all before he decided to buy them.

Good points :

  • There is a MALE TEAMMATE
  • No ecchi stuff with the girls
  • No instant love after girls meets MC
  • The hero isn't entirely the culprit in the bullying, some unrelated people add their salt too. It's a bit of realism I like

Just... pointless and boring.

Starts off with a revenge novel premise, which spoiler alert, works itself out and everyone grows slightly as people. Which is such a bullsh*t bait and switch, because #1 the original reason for the betrayal was so idiotic in the first place (they don't understand party roles and how levels work, plus they act like high schoolers), and #2 I want to see blood, revenge novels that screw this up fail (at least there was that one fight).

Story has... issues.

Author has some weird ideas on how s*avery... more>> works. MC buys some friends s*aves, becomes a famous adventurer party, people praise MC as a pioneer for buying s*aves and not treating them like crap (eyeroll). Later on there's a detective arc where MC goes after some bad s*avers, and at the end the good s*aver chides the bad s*aver for giving the slaving profession a bad name (I just can't).

There's a monster stampede arc which was alright, in which the author introduces the concept of a dungeon in this setting, then completely ignores it. After that there's the aforementioned detective arc nobody asked for, then the next arc is some kind of altercation with the neighboring empire? I stopped reading then. Oh right, there was supposed to be a demon king or war against the demons the hero's party was supposed to be fighting, that was completely ignored for the past 6 (7?) volumes.

Translation's good. <<less

Forgiveness are great, if it's not so manipulative. And this novel is so obviously manipulative thats it's disgusting me. At first the author make you hate hero party as much as possible, afterward he diminish hero party's deeds and slowly trying to force you into forgiving the hero party. I won't be surprised if the novel end with hero party and MC's party working side by side defeating the demon king, or whatever enemies boss they are supposed to defeat. Dropped it.

The translation quality is good but unfortunately the author had an idea but knew not how to execute it.

I have nothing against slow paced, but this drags too much, the first volume (14 chapters) is just about him leaving the hero party, the author spends a lot of time just repeating himself and when the MC actually do something different it is actually off screen.

Very minor spoiler bellow:

I mean, when he actually leaves the party and when he goes adventuring, we see nothing. Just a mention that he actually has... more>> the strength of a B rank now, but arent even shown how he fights..

He buys 3 s*aves and doesnt even show the sleeping accommodations, at some point it is implied they were in his inn room.. But why would his room fit 4 people ? <<less

Not good, not bad. The usual. A problem I have with this novel is that when reading these kind genre or story, we usually are hyped for the revenge again the Hero and his party. The problem is that the volumes are too short. And that the author immediately describe the climax scene in the description, raising our expectation of that sweet sweet scene of revenge, but take a long time to reach that point. By the time we actually reach it, the feeling is already gone. Since, even without... more>> reaching that point, the author already spoilt it for us.

The chars are, ok I guess. Nothing noteworthy. You got your usual cliches of arrogant hero, corrupt nobles, s*upid childhood friend, etc. MC is also meh. I like his take on revenge, which is living his life to the fullest, to show that what the hero party said about him was a mistake. But that's all. There is nothing really different from your run of the mil MCs in these kind of genres. Anyways, this is a light hearted novel, so dont go in expecting tension and seriousness. Good time killer, but very2 short. <<less

While it still follows a fairly generic story structure, one thing I like is that the MC's earlier party are not two-dimensional villains. They get some character development, especially the 'hero', and gradually come to realise their mistake and improve their relationship with the MC.
