Actually really fun to read fanfiction that includes basically dragon ball + z + gt +movies and mixes them. Probs for actually putting thought into the power level system etc. Even though I reduce half a star for the fact that the main protagonist kinda goes pretty chill through his life. No real hard fought wins in my opinion. The battle parts come too short.

Also - half star because the naming sense of the characters is not that good. Author choses english names for sayan instead of abrigation of vegtables... more>> and main protagonist got a chinese name. Would have ignored that fact if he would be born/raised on earth since there are people like tao bai bai etc but as a sayan himself that is kinda a no go. Especially when he goes around calling Son Goku Kakarott nonchalantly.

Another - Main protagonist/author seems to give a sh*t about the main plot what makes this interesting but some parts do tend to be too short and completly useless.

Well, all in all. Worth the time to read. 3.5/5 Stars. <<less

Ignore the rabid fanboy below me.

This novel is remarkable, and it's a nice spin to the main plot. The story follows a guy who reincarnates into the DBZ universe with foreknowledge of what happened in the main plot. Its funny, remarkable and exciting. The Translator is great too; 10 advance chapters for only $1 monthly donation on his Patreon. Fans of DBZ should definitely give this a try.

Interesting start, give it a try if you like DBZ universe.

MC is born with mid level talent, though it won't stop him progressing faster than high level one due to his DB knowledge. My only gripe is that the MC and his sister are not named after vegetables.

It is a really interesting story and the only real problem I have so far is that the MC just randomly gets time control and teleportation powers like ten chapters in. I can understand the teleporting since the author needed a way for him to get to earth without using his ship but, the time stopping power just seems excessive to me.

Also it bothers me they say cultivation instead of training

This novel is terrible in many ways but at the same time superb in others. I also found the ending to be terrible, extremely rushed and have a high strung wtf moment, so what I would originally give five stars for the overall story gets downgraded to four.

The strength system in this is much more systemised and reliable compared to the dbz animation where characters strengths can get random boosts or nerfs to suit the storyline. Here everything has a quantifiable value.

Another excellent part is that this fanfic contains characters... more>> and plot events from the complete db universe, which means db, dbz, dbz movies, dbs, dbgt, dbz xenoverse etc... Its all tied together at a steady pace so you won't lose interest in any of it.

The butterfly effect of the mc's actions which had many people complaining it is taking away goku's future enemies is extremely well done, and is a baseless concern. The same goes with complaints that the MC has a twelve year head start on Goku and Vegeta and that they would never be able to catch up.

The author designs the butterfly effect based the conceptual river of time. While certain action may alter the path of the river, it still heads toward the same destination. Goku and Vegeta aren't any weaker in comparison to the original works, and in fact, are actually stronger. They also walk a completely different path to the MC so comparing who is better is wrong.

other things that I highly praise but are spoilers

Spoiler

Vegeta finds his own path in training rather than always chasing goku's footsteps. He even surpasses him and defeats him on two occasions.

Goku ends up with Bulma and Vegeta with Bulma's older sister Tights. Despite this, their children have the same name as original works, enforcing the river of time principle. Poor trunks coming back from the original future only to find his dad married to another woman and his mom doesn't even know it.

[collapse]

At the same time I will point out the major flaws of the novel.

It has an extremely slow start. Goku and Vegeta get basically no exposure for the first few hundred chapters.

MC doesn't take proper advantage of having knowledge of the future and the author even makes him a complete idiot sometimes who as someone knowing future events, can't figure out what's happening despite the beginning or even mid plot happening in front of him. He could stop many plans in their infancy if he wanted to, but has dumb moments where he can't figure out what's happening.

There is very little earth time except when the MC is visiting. As the central area for dbz plot lines, I expected much more time on earth. The MC formed a survival colony on a new planet, which I enjoy, but isn't what I ideally look for in a fanfic

Worse of all was the ending. It was terrible, all other opinions moot. <<less

Honestly, it's pretty good, especially if you like these types of novels based off anime/manga.

MC reincarnated into a baby Saiyan several years before the destruction of Planet Vegeta. He knows how the story went and the general strength of people, like Frieza, so it's nice seeing his preparation for things.

He's pretty mature I'd say and definitely not stupid. Not a genius, but not a moron either. He progresses in strength and age, and though he obviously will become the strongest Saiyan, much like Goku and Vegeta, he's also not the... more>> only one to develop high strength.

Many characters you know appear throughout and it's super interesting to see how it's gonna play out. How it starts diverging from the original story and the fates of certain characters that change due to his existence.

Anyway, those are the points to know right away. It's a really fun story if you know the series, with a good translator as well. Check it out and see if you'll enjoy it. I definitely do. <<less

I enjoy it so far.. If only the MC is more mature, it would be better.. I dont get why MC has so much love for saiyan species. If I were him, let them die, they just brute. Save your family, and select few friends is enough. Power in DBZ is determined by OP individual, not by number of people.

So far I've read 212 chapters (and counting) of MTL (on LNMTL)

Like someone mentioned space & time powers are a bit much (though author kind of realised this as well and hold back on the time stop stuff afterwards), he also randomly gave MC 70k Senzu Beans which obviously made the novel go a bit haywire. To scale back on it and not just make every fight trivial, it's mentioned that using senzu beans make use of your potential to restore yourself. Basically borrowing power from the future to... more>> save yourself in the present.

In that way, at least the MC won't just constantly eat senzu beans and automatically win any fight as it will have negative consequences and slow his progress.

There's some other questionable things, but overall the MC isn't too bad. And honestly it's quite good for a fan fiction. There's plenty of (much) worse original novels as well, so the bad rating is undeserved.

Actually my largest concern is that because the MC is born several years before Goku & Vegeta he has such a long headstart that I fear they might not ever be able to catch up. Plus he seems to be eliminating many of the villains they require to fight against to power up. Personally I don't want the MC to be so strong that Goku, Vegeta, and the other main characters are irrelevant. Rather I think that the MC should at least be within reach for them instead of completely overshadowing them... Of course there's still plenty of chapters to go so I'll update this later when I find out.

Some really good things to say about this novel however, perhaps guilty pleasures (p.s. includes minor spoilers) :

  • Saiyans, MC is a Saiyan and rescue a portion of the Saiyan race from the destruction of Planet Vegeta. Because of how they were basically all exterminated by Frieza in the Dragon Ball canon the author can freely create other Saiyan characters of his own as well.
  • The author 'save' some of the characters that more or less faded away from existence in the original works. For example the girl who change hair color whenever she sneezes: Launch. Maybe she'll even be a love interest in the future? (Probably not.) Then there's Tien Shinhan, the MC show him that there's way more powerful guys out there in the world so that he won't get stuck in chasing Goku. Hopefully this leads him to become much more powerful instead of an irrelevant side character.
  • There's some more interaction with other minor characters, and hopefully more to come.
I probably forgot some things I should have mentioned, but anyway, the novel isn't bad. It has some faults but it does it's job of properly fulfilling the fantasy of how you would change Dragon Ball if you were to be a Saiyan yourself. Which I'm sure plenty of people has thought about. I say, it's definitely worth to have a look. <<less

Guess what he do after he sense cooler coming to wards him?

He fking waited, he have instant transmission

He decided to fight against cooler blaming saiyan blood and sh*t even though in early chapters MC flipping clearly can restrain himself especially when he is only at 160 k BP when cooler is 150 million BP a different of flipping one thousand BP.

So I kinda liked this, read up to around 80 something and figured it would take ages to wait it out on current translations, so I went to the bane of all translations. That's right I read it on lnmtl, what can I say it wasn't a pleasant experience and it kinda felt like a kick on the balls, but I powered through and finished it. All I can say is that the story follows the DB universe pretty closely even up to Super and there will be some GT... more>> cameo involving universe travel but I won't get detailed because of spoilers. Anyways it's a fun read and the story is fairly well paced so hope you all enjoy it. My one gripe with it is the very end but you guys won't get it till you read it yourselves so yeah. Hope you all enjoy it since it's a good story and well made. =DDD <<less

There are some editting mistakes here and there but its not at a level where its hard to understand. And the story and the characters for me atleast is very interesting. Im waiting for xiaya to meet goku later and his power level at the time. But most importantly when he will become a super saiyan. Until then im giving 4 stars.

It's okay. It's a Dragon Ball SI fic. If you like Dragon Ball and power levels, you'll probably like this fic.

It's... not bad. Like, there's no harems or bashing, and the power levels and everything feel consistent with Dragon Ball. But I'm not seeing much that stands out as good. It is flavored with munchkin, so if you like that sort of stuff, then sure.

Some people rate this low for just their dissatisfaction of disruption in dragon ball world but if you see this from an enjoyment and fan fiction point of view it is an excellent novel. I won't say much, I wrote this review just for my little contribution for the undeserved low rating of this novel.

it's ok the power scaling is better than the original but
Spoiler

it seem like the author slowed down his super saiyan forms making take 41 years to reach 3 but take 8 to reach 3 level good. He doesn't use his future knowledge in the most efficient way I can't believe people think is smart. He could have teleported to any cold family and one shotted them while sleeping because somehow they always transform and away beat death

Incredibly simple-minded. I haven't watched the anime, but I assume that it matches. Had to drop it at c43, just couldn't take the simple-mindedness anymore. It was like reading about very young children playing with dolls.

Hmm... Although it's interesting but when you think about it htis novel is just like a simple minded child writing a fan fiction.. no let me rewrite what I said it's a simple minded CHINESE kid who is writing a fan fiction loosely based on db universe and again consider it's a fan fiction shouldnt be taken seriously.

Yet the dumbness, grammatical errors, rushed pitiful ending, Chinese specific mistake which I don't want to point out and much more makes me unwilling to rate it good and feel like I have... more>> wasted my time reading this... hoping it would get better but alas it's still a really under average fan fiction.

This story is decent if you only have surface knowledge of the Dragon Ball series.

I rated this novel 3-stars because I actually watched DBZ when I was a kid and read some of the manga.

I rated this novel 2-stars because of the constant grammar mistakes that drag me out of the story.

I just want to warn potential readers that if they know a decent amount of Dragon Ball lore, then know that you will be pulling your hair out from some of the stuff that the author states. Not to... more>> mention the strictly Asian names of the two lead characters.

Just treat this novel as a loose interpretation of the Dragon Ball series. <<less
