Hello, I am the translator of this series, Calvis.

The series is a personal all-time favorite of mine, and I have thoroughly enjoyed this novel so much. Hand-picked by me with the help of my fellow members in forum from NovelUpdates, this novel is only one of the few that I have read without stopping, and is titled an instant classic in Korea as one of the best fantasy novels. The author is female (the only Korean female author whose works I've read), but the elements of literature - foreshadowing, allusions,... more>> expressions, and imagery - are amazing. I will try my utmost best to keep the quality of these translations high for you to see and appreciate these elements as much I did.

The story itself is quite breathtaking and suspenseful a lot of times, and had made it hard for me to stop translating while re-reading. The amount of character development the MC undergoes, as well as the descriptive world-building of this novel provides so much depth. (This is only one of the few novels that allows me to actually draw a map in my head and pinpoint where exactly the MC is). Although the prologue may be a bit long, once the pace picks up, I assure you that you will start to get attached to some of these characters (well for me it did). The author, despite this being her first work, had written this novel beautifully, and it was an honor to have found and read this. The story is written in first-person view, and allows you to indulge in the story as if you are actually the MC itself. I'm currently re-reading the novel at the pace I'm translating (Not going ahead since I want to place myself in the readers' shoes, although it's hard to stop myself at times), but I have to admit that I'm having a blast. I hope that all of you can enjoy this gem of a novel as much as I did.

Also, a shoutout to my PRs, Sai101 and Kajin, that are proofreading and enjoying the novel as much as me. They're such a lovely group of people, and I'm honored to be working alongside them. Thank you.

P.S: I have started this series with the intent of finishing one way or another (university studies, don't smother me please). Releases will be active, and I hope that you will enjoy this journey with us. A sincere thank you to all.

P.S.S: The reason why I started translating was because I wanted to return the contributions that many of the translators have done while I indulged in their work. Another sincere thank you to those translators and editors that take their time to prepare and upload quality work.

Sincerely,

Calvis <<less

Quite early but I really enjoyed the first 10 chaps. The MC is cheeky and so far all the side characters seem to have a personality. Not much is revealed yet of the plot or the world but the character interactions will keep you enetertained for now. Mom ftw.... : D

The story begins with our protagonist's dream to become the greatest merchant. However, it seems fate has something else in store for him.

With some of the absolute best characterization I've ever seen in a novel, fairly decent pacing, and an intriguing setting I would consider this to be one of the rising stars of the newer translations. I would absolutely recommend it.

Promising start as the end of the very first (mini) arc closes. The story is revealed, characters are memorable each with their own quirks, and you get glimpses to the overall world.

Right now the story and the world is not the most interesting but good enough to keep you going. However the narrative (although a bit jumpy and hard to follow) and the characters and the story bring this novel up to a 4 or a 5 making it a treat to read.

Well first of all.. Author use too much boring sarcasm and lame inner thought "boke and tsukkomi". It feels kind of forced or maybe it was just the translation.

Anyway, story wise pretty immersive and enchanting. Don't try denying, I know majority of us were fond of skimming and scanning however for this novel such thing is impossible to use. In a first glance you can see that chapters were really short however unlike the other novel which has a 1000+ word count. This novel gave you a magnetic attraction making... more>> it hard to look away to skim and scan as if afraid to miss some info and description which makes up for the short chapters. And to have such magnetic effect is impressive considering how nowadays majority of novels being translated were either a junkfood or a fastfood.

With all that said not a perfect work, gave a minor japanese novel feel and a novel with its own flaw but even with that a good read nevertheless but because of translation quality I could only give.. ? ? ? ? At best

P.S.

I also feel that Tl's afterwords were sometimes extremely insincere like when he said "Please go save his mother. Don't let her die!" or when he said "Glad to see Doctor Nauke alive, but it's pretty sad nevertheless." why are you doing this? To build an hype? Its insincere reading it from you when your own review states that you have completely read the novel so it meant you already knew all the future events. Meaning because I know that you Completely read the novel, your afterwords gave me an impression of nothing but empty words. No offense. <<less

I love how this story is written. Its not too heavy too read with a light info dump. Though the prologue is a bit heavy but after that all is fine. Don't judge it by the few chapters cause you need more to love the characters. Lastly all the characters that have been mention now have variety of colors.
