What use is power when your a s*ave?

This has so much potential, but in the end of the day for all of MCs cunning, ruthlessness and cruelty - he is but a s*ave. He has to obey his mistress, and help her house rise at any cost. What does he get for his help? Nothing, it's like the family simply expects him to help from the goodness of his heart (which he will, since his soul is basically ens*aved...).

Disappointing waste of potential. Don't read if you came for 'Evil Protagonist'.

The main characters personally and story is really good, except for 2 issues.

1. The main character takes a declining clan of 2 spoilt as sh*t kids to ruling the country. However, there's NOTHING they've done to show they deserve it, they do the bare minimum whilst smarter people are putting their lives on the line just to end up working under them cus of plot. The girl is the most generic of female characters serving 2 roles, 1 getting jealous of his interactions with other girls and 2 getting worried... more>> when he's losing a fight. There already exists a girl more "pure" than her doing the EXACT same roles. The smaller brother is too naive and there are already people (3rd prince) with better qualifications who actually earned the right to rule the country.

2. The point that made me drop the novel; main characters personally get absolutely ruined when girls/romance is involved because of his tsunder bullshit. E.g. In the latest instance the main characters team is fighting in a tournament where people are dying left and right (MC kills a whole team without batting an eye). But God forbid one of his 'evil' team mate hits his love interests on the opposing team. Before the fight he even asked for permission and the MC said its fine, but after the fight MC beats him up for it, cringiest of romance. Also, EVERY love interest is a burden in every competition, where they do nothing except blindly holding faith the MC will show up to save the day (even though they don't even know if he's in the country). <<less

FYI: I have not read the first few 80 chapters because of the manhua which led me to read the novel, assuming it's the same content in the novel, we can say it's very good, I'm currently at chapter 550+ in the mtl.

Pros:

-Bloodthirsty MC, if offended/betrayed will not pu*sy out and kill. Not nice but repays small debts.

-Doesn't start acting like a teen after rebirth or acting morally after meeting a certain X.

-No truly righteous elders or persons, everyone seeks benefit and do not follow the MC blindly because he saved them once or twice, and villains are not one dimensional, although the MC has obviously more experience.

-People realize their errors, a lot of mind games, a few good quotes from time to time.

-Basically a master in everything.

Cons:

- Pretty much like every novel, a few plot coincidences left and right.

-No harem although it might give the vibe of one.

-Slow cultivation (pretty fast in realtime in the novel and compared to other younglings, but

After reading the Manhua, I was wondering why the LN wasn't so famous. The manhua was phenomenal, what about the LN? And so I read the LN, only to find it a Garbage Tier.

This LN is not about "Evil Emperor" the novel wants you to think in the first few hundred chapters. It's about love drama, damsel in distresses always waiting for their "hero" to save them. The harem is always ready to cry and wail for someone to save their "Hero" even when the MC is a literal god... more>> and his enemy an ant. Ohh, wait, you can't even call this LN a harem cause MC is a badass and he ditches all the girls that are wet for him, and let me tell you, every girl in this LN is wet for our big bad devil, what could be cooler than making them fall in love with you and then ignoring them, right?

Really thought I was going to read a good Xianxia but I only got disappointment. I feel like I was cheated of my time and expectations just because Manhua was good and so I kept on hoping that LN would get better but alas that didn't happen. If you are here from Manhua then you should just stick to it, at the very least the early Manhua chapters are really good. And it is also likely that they will change the future cringy drama. <<less

'Evil protagonist ' that's what was promised from the very begainig of that story. But, in the long run I was disappointed. This story is amazing in It's first 200 chapter, really. I was attracted to read its novel on mtl because of its manhwa adaptation. First, I was wondering why this novel is not famous though it is great story about soon I discovered that.

MC will always ditch womens. Yes, I was in rage when he ditch that Lolita girl that saved him and his friend in a fores.... more>> Which is around 90 ch. In manhwa. And you know reason why he do so? Simply because he is a weak tr*sh. He stays weak throughout the story. Even though he was a great demon once, but in his second life he was garbeg. Writer always introduced 1 or 2 beauty in every ark who fall in love with him, but in the end all of em fate was either be ditched or forgotten. It is like creating something painstakingly not use but to throw them to dustbin.

Total waste of time. Those like me who got hooked to it because of it great manhwa (around 120 ch). Please note that he will eventually kick all womens out of his life, so it will be no harem

Even in 500 ch, he is still weak. Once greatest demon my %%%%. <<less

Love it, people complain about the MC being bound to serve people weaker then him but it is a redemption and character building, the MC was always alone, no friend, no champion, not because he don't want to but because they will make him weaker, he will learn alot (emotionally) from helping people.

There is no such thing as a free meal in the world, so servings a girl (that the original body was in love with) is a small price to pay for being brought back to life.

The "ruthless, evil, cunning, emperor cultivator" MC already died at chapter 37 while playing around with some low cultivation gnat, except some dude unexpectedly came out to save him (like the MC literally closed his eyes and waited for death) —this is the kind of idiotic main character you'll be following. He dies again like 15 chapters later and is deus ex machina'd once more. MC is forced to drag 2 annoying kids around for no reason other than the author wanting it to happen. In ch. 42 he is... more>> literally in a "bento-box-between-two-girls" scenario straight out of a cheesy anime; the romance in general is extremely childish. Every attack is shouted out like "Second tier martial skill, Thunder Skies Punch!" as tends to happen in most terrible cultivation stories, because that's how smart people fight. General character depth and interactions are pathetic at best. Awful writer.

All-in-all, just another poorly written, overly cliché xianxia. Not worth your time at all. <<less

Story: 7/10 (a bit rushed at the end but still fluent progress)

Characters: 6/10 (i feel like except some real fast introductions there isn't a lot of background work on characters except the MC)

Enjoyment: 9/10 (i love this genre, can't blame me lol)

I litteraly just finished reading the novel 30min ago and wanted to see what other people thought about it and share some of my opinions.

First of all it isn't as amazing as the manhwa makes it look imo but it is still nonetheless worth reading (the cliffhangers are really painfull in the manhwa xD) ! The story become more centered on the MC than the Luo family itself later on which I think was kinda unexpected considering the title but still expected considering the wuxia/xianxia genre.

Unfortunately it becomes very rushed at the end although the author does his best to explain things to kinda make sense.

the final revelation of the MC's background was absolutely amazing, I didn't expected him to have such an identity

Throughout the whole novel there are quite a few parts where the plot armor is too obvious and some wtf moments that make absolutely no sense BUT on the other hand I loved every single time when the author takes his time to explain in detail the cuning, ingenious and treacherous plans of the MC, that made me shiver in excitement every time.

I feel bad about the fact that the MC being a regressor has absolutely no idea how to manage romantic affairs although there is some progress along the line and he learns what to do.

All in all, it was definitely an exciting and good read, not as good as other novels I read in the past but if I had to do it again, I would, without any second thoughts! <<less

This is bad.

I'm starting to realize maybe the genre is just not for me, there's times when stuff like this is good, fun n enjoyable, but is the fact that the MC gets out on top n out bads the bad guy good enough?

The story does nothing different then any other sh*t story nothing NOTHING, as generic as possible but if u wanna read some beat ppl n get babes br my guest, but the plot? What plot nothing really happens.

Read something else if u give this 5 stars... more>> why?

It's exactly the same as a million other xianxia. MC gets betrayed by trusted person, bunch of people covet some magical garbage the MC recently picked up and so he gets BTFO in an ambush... but wait! He's still alive because of course he's still alive or it would end on chapter 1. Main draw is that he's not a goody two shoes. he's an a**hole, and he doesn't really pretend to be holier-than-thou while engaging in his monstrous tendencies. So none of that "I'm a good person who doesn't... more>> look for trouble, yet always seems to mu*der and steal from everyone who looks at me sideways" hypocrisy. Alright for a generic style, shithead on a revenge-path plot, but awful as anything else. <<less

Like the above post, I also started reading this because the manga is just that good. I already knew most of the plot so I could figure out what was going on with MTL and I must say I love it! The MC is evil, scheming and doesn't care about his friends so long as he gets stronger. Not a fan, I thought the MC was a anti hero, but he's not, he is a psychopath only restrained by his relative weak state.

Dont read this novel ok. Just stick to the manhua. The early chaps are acceptable, but become garbage later on, there are few reasons:

1. Almost all the side-characters in the novel are a hindrance to the MC. Other comments only states the female because its just so obvious that ways. But man, all his allies at some point will just become useless and need to be saved all the time. As a demon cultivator, this guys really have the hearth of saint. Willing to kill thousands of pp but get... more>> insane when one of his girl is killed. Wow.

2. MC get absolute wrecked when it come to woman. A dense demon emperor that behave like a 9 year old when it come to romance. How this guys not get destroyed by honey trap in his past life?

3. The bullsh*t scheming. PP in the novel always say all mc's actions are carefully calculated, but that's just nonsense. Most of the time, his plan consists of extremely convoluted sh*ts that had to have plot armor and unreasonable power-up to success. Its sound ok at first, but then you realise if this guy is not the MC, he would have been killed long ago.

4. Speaking of power-up, this guy just go hyper mode when it comes to cultivation and it didnt feel earned at all. Most of his times is just fighting people above his realm and then fused with some beast body parts or rare materials and then boom, jump stages or go straight to another realm so that he could fight pp above his realm, rinse and repeat. No "cultivating" or training involved.

If you want to read a real evil cultivation novel, I suggest reverend insanity. Dont bother with this tr*sh. <<less

Overall, I enjoyed this novel. The first major story arc was amazing. Although the quality of the story lessened later on, it was still pretty ok. Towards the end of the novel, the pacing was accelerated and it felt like the author was rushing to end the novel. Regardless of the rush, the end had good amounts of detail and was even a little satisfying. In the end, I dont regret finishing this novel.

If you finished the story, you'd imagine there'd have been more sinister villains and schemes. Looking back im glad that the story isnt, for a lack of a better word, "rapey". As unrealistic as most of the villains were, you kind of appreciate how mild and "scholarly" they were.

MC is a cunning and nasty guy. Sinister and strong. There reviews about the story being a joke and what not are dumb. MC is great at plotting and a lot of the opponents aren't idiots. Its just MC is an abomination. A real demon.

Anyway MC revives in a body and the consequences is a heart demon. He needs to raise the family hes in to the top before he can confidentlacend to the next tier world.

The reviews saying he's a s*ave didnt bother reading more than a few chapters.... more>> MC quickly takes over the family makes alliances and kills strong opponents and makes the family powerful with his own strength techniques and experience.

MC has some crazy fights where you really don't know if he'll die. Fights look crazy and you see sinister plots against sister plots. Sacrificing allies and ploting against your allies to kill an enemy its great.

Still this is a typical arrogant Chinese xianxia type story and MC is over powered in techniques but never in cultivation. He needs to constantly plot and scheme to win fights since he's always weaker.

I know this isn't a huge plus to people but the story never has any s*xual violence. I know that's a weird thing to bring up but while there are some misogynistic enemies the MC actually uses that against them to defame them. The enemies that want to use women to their advantage dont use any type of s*xual violence they'll coerce them and threaten them or even poison them into doing their bidding but the story never goes to r*pe.

In fact the enemies who are interested in women never use s*xual violence they'll try and coerce them with alliance, flirty words, power and status but they never directly use violence. Its a little surprising this genre usually has some r*pe and this one doesn't. <<less

This MC is a mess, I know that the author wanted to make an evil cultivator type MC and to lighten the mood made him a dense dunce that doesn't know why the girls act like that around him dunno what the author want introducing so many love interest to just make the MC be like : HUUUH? WHY IS SHE BLUSHING?? HUUH? POTATO?. This sh*t is definitely not funny.

Very good novel. MC truly awesome, can't be compared with the MC of the other novel in the same style (Martial World). There some part who are average but there quite rare.

I sincerely recommend this novel.
