The description up top is pretty vague but basically MC (who's the CEO of a big company) gets into an accident and finds himself in the body of a new born puppy. ML (15 or 16 yrs old) buys him from the pet shop and takes him home, and later MC becomes ml's guide dog.

Spoiler

There's actually only a two or three year difference between MC and ML because MC went back in time 10 years.

[collapse]

I mtled this so my understanding of the story might not be 100% accurate, but overall mtl was pretty easy to understand. The novel also only has 60+ chapters so it's a fairly quick read. MC and ML are very sweet and the ending is happy but there are some sad moments, especially in the beginning and towards the middle of the novel.

Spoiler

MC notices that ML is going blind fairly early and feels helpless because he isn't able to do anything about it. Ml's family is also pretty dysfunctional and after his dad and mom divorce

Spoiler

His dad learns that ML isn't his biological son

[collapse]

One thing I really liked is that even though MC helped ML get back on his feet, ML isn't dependent on MC.

After dog MC dies He saves ML from a car accident that involves his human self and dies in the resulting crash. This part was really sad because not only does he leave ML in a foreign city all alone but no one else seems to understand how important dog MC is to ML Also, MC dies after being with ML for five years but he wakes up is his human self before he became a dog. So there are five years after dog MC dies that ML has a bad impression of human MC.

[collapse]

Also, MC is basically a wife s*ave who'd do anything for ml's praise, and ML is definitely in charge in the relationship. <<less

okay I'm the translator so I mIGHT be biased but hush hush let's get on w/ the review

this novel starts off happy, quickly gets sad, then gets happy again. I'm translating as I read and I'm only to chapter 7, but I'm loving it so far! MC is cute, ML is cute, and I absolutely despise all the crap they're going through, I just want my babies to be happy!

but, yes. You should read this. Not because I'm the translator, but because it's adorable.

edit: I'm the current translator bearly translating,... more>> I'm too lazy to make a new NU account and change the username lmao <<less

A decent slow pacing BL with a kind of rushed ending which was wrapped in two chapters, one was the last chapter the other was epilogue/after-story.

Reasons why I suggest you to read in your free time:

  • The characters had potential being a reversible CP, probably because it was told from gong's pov, even hinted once iirc. But there's no explicit/detail scene of interc**rse.
  • The plot, it was slow pacing until +/- last 4~6 chapters which the last chapter (60) was too rushed. IMO the ending of MC's enemies could be not written in detail as the story was focused in ML from MC's pov and how he always on ML's side. But it would be more satisfying to have a more detailed stories since since it's also related to ML. Meanwhile, after the last chapter, the extra chapter was about PDA in short...
  • Probably just my own opinion, but this couple shared a similar typical loyal-to-death and you-only-one-for-now-and-in-another-life with Xie Jing Xing x Shen Miao from Rebirth of The Malicious Empress of Military Lineage (? yeah, I don't remember the exact title).
  • MC was a typical possesive, arrogant, black bellied gong but it's understandable because it was pointed to ML and half stories was enough reasons of his undying love for ML
  • ML wasn't a soft tofu but he was still kind
The only reason I... more>> give 4 star is the rushed ending and shameless PDA. But if you don't mind those, I'm sure you'll like the story :) <<less

At first, I really hesitated to read it. I’m not fond of human x non-human relationships at all. But like, the story is too damn good!! There is plenty of fluff, but there’s also angst. The characters aren’t s*upid and annoyingly naive, instead they’re already quite mature, they grow even more mature after experiencing the ways of the world. I feel very sorry for the ML and what he’s going through, but I know it’s going to get better.

The main character becomes a dog after all, I didn’t quite like... more>> it, but that was before I actually started reading the novel.

Spoiler

This can’t really be considered a spoiler since I didn’t MTL, but I have a hunch that the MC will become a human later, it’s just a hunch of mine.

Well, I hope you give this novel a chance. I rarely write reviews, but this is just that good. <<less

A beautiful and heart wrenching novel. I would highly recommend reading it. Such a beautiful and immersive story. Just like rollercoaster, the author is able to take you on a myriad of emotions—through the ups and downs—touching your core.

Though do be careful, you’ll need quite a lot tissue boxes.

Aww that was so cute and well translated! At first, I didnt know who was gong or shou I had to read to comments first. So MC (LCY) was gong and ML (ZH) was shou.

I dont know why people are saying that after MC turned human, the story became too fast and boring.

For me, it's not. The progression after MC changing was very acceptable.

Why? Because,

  1. 1.
    Spoiler

ML would doubt MC's actions at the bar (because he too had doubt MC's OOC attributes since he was a dog, and therefore read transmigration/rebirth novels) so it naturally entered his mind that "maybe" it is real.

    [collapse]
  1. 2.
    Spoiler

ML then, as rational youth, searched MC's human information. Then, knew his birthdate because of the lottery win from 5 yrs ago.

    [collapse]
From then on, it's obviously not so rushed that he kind of knew already. At that point, it wasnt that smooth sailing either.
Spoiler

They had ti deal with their own problems with their family and had to create angst on their relationship. But ended very soon.

[collapse]

Im very thankful that in later chapters, the MC and ML showed progressions in their relationship without hiding something. I mean, it's been 10 freaking years already! and 40+ chapters already TT. I dont hate it, but the build up is just making me anticipate so much.

What I like abt the MC is that he is so protective, cute, smart and yet cautious. Despite his original overbearing temperament, he became a dog and had an overturn hehe.

ML is not the typical supper OOC type of characters. ML is very sensible and strong. Not out of place. His hardships and life story were rightly emphasized. Truly admirable.

The first parts were long drama but had great significance throughout the plot as it's relate to ML and MC's past before the accident. I wont lie, but it was so shocking, they had lived and died for each other... and had given a chance to restart again. :)

The smexy chapters were not detailed enough and I was sad. It would've been one of the novels that I've read that has perfect combination of drama+smut without overtugging each other.

Just FYI, there is no bestiality depicted in the story. I had to say it. I've read some books where it just smacks you in the face out of nowhere and I've put this off for a while because of the reviews about bestiality. I regret it now. At most it's when the MC struggles with heat in his dog body and restrains himself. The rest of the edgy scenes are of him perving on the ML's teen body lol. But he doesn't do anything as he thinks he doesn't... more>> have a right to like the ML as a dog. Most of the scenes are basically dog sticking to teen and have a licking fight and staring dazedly etc. Everything is within the realm of normal dog behavior. In fact, even nasty behavior like humping during spring season, the MC restrains by using his willpower as he is after all a human in a dog body.

Anyway, there was too much heartache, too much sweetness and too much poignant feelings. I can't take it anymore! I cried too much but I really appreciate the author for not dragging on meaningless drama. Everything is concise and just right. Although the angst was a bit much. sniffles But it was worth the tears. <<less

I enjoyed the story when Lu Chengye was a dog. It was sweet interaction between a teenager and his pet along with some intense drama and angst. Fluff and sadness goes hand-in-hand. But then Lu Chengye got back his body and the story lost its charm.

The translation is great. ML is one of the most amazing main characters to be written in CN. ML suffers so much at such a young age but he never gives up. Even when dog MC dies, ML continues to live as best as he... more>> can. <<less

Cute and bubbly. However, once MC turns into a human again, everything is rushed. There are also moments where the romance seems borderline beastiality, which was real uncomfortable. Also, whilst MC's IQ deteriorates, ML gets smarter. Not much struggle or strong emotions, honestly.

I’m not quite sure where to even start. This novel shattered my entire heart and then piece by piece, put it back together again. I wasn’t expecting to bawl my eyes out within the first couple chapters, I was thinking it would be more mellow than it was.

This novel, I had been putting it off and putting it off because lbh, by the title alone, how interesting can a book about a dog be? I was under the impression that, at most this was like tyrant raising a pet palm... more>> fish and he’d end up turning into a man later. (This was before I read through any reviews or finished the summery) Although I really enjoyed Tyrant raising a pet palm fish, it was slow at times and the idiocy in it annoyed me.

But man oh man was I wrong. This was the antithesis of pet palm fish. First of all, even ignoring the fact the setting was different and cause and effect was different, The ML and MC were so much smarter than any other story I’ve read, and I’ve read many.

This was the first time I’ve read a novel where the MC is able to deduce that the dog and human are one in the same on his own within the same chapter without too much back and forth. There was no crisis of “this can’t be real” or “you’re lying” and I was sooo thankful for author jumping pass that trope of having the MC act like a crying damsel in distress and accepting that it was totally possible. I was even happier with the ML’s trust and understanding of the MC instead of blowing up and blaming MC of cheating, because lord knows anytime a MC/ML is seen with another human being in most novels the other is immediately jealous, uneasy, upset etcetc and while he was jealous it wasn’t because he thought they were together rather because in his dogbrain, someone was encroaching on his territory.

i absolutely loved the MC his weak to strong was perfect. It wasn’t s*upidly op and he didn’t become overbearing ceo, but rather built up a small empire that helped others and was enough to live on. He took what dog ML gave him and ran with it.

If there’s one thing that bothers me it’s probably the ending. It was so sudden and clipped that it was a bit underwhelming. I feel like more explanation is needed as well as a better understanding of exactly who else was behind it. But it wasn’t so bad that it would ruin the reading.

Oh and Bai Super-Professional-Personal-Dogfood eating-Assistant Xiyu is my favorite character. Like, he was barely in it and probably takes up about.1% of the entire novel but even so. I love him and wish him the best in his endeavors of being a professional personal assistant. <<less

A very well-written and heartwarming story.

At first, I thought it would be something like a comedy, but the author's care with the main characters' issues and confrontation with disability felt pretty realistic and well-researched.

Spoiler

ML becomes blind and has to work very hard to learn how to survive with his new disability. He was previously from a well-off family and was a very athletic and intelligent youth. Suddenly, his entire life is turned around, his parents divorced, and his future is completely changed.

He only has his dog as his sole companion.

[collapse]

I like that both MC and ML were very strong characters who both tried to support each other. ML depends a lot on MC in the first part of the novel, but in the second half, ML was able to help MC a lot with resolving issues in his life.

Be warned, the relationship is very co-dependent. It's played off a bit as comedy, but both are very aware of their not-the-healthiest obsession with each other.

Spoiler

One small issue is that all of the really crazy villains are the women. Whether it's the ruthless-gold-digger mom, the evil grandma, or the manipulative second wife, literally every single one of them are ridiculously horrible to the MC. The male villains are portrayed as "bad" but with some redeemable qualities, such as the ML's dad and the MC's uncle. The author even specifically wrote that the MC's uncle was "a just person", except he ended up committing a crime to mu*der the MC from desperation.

Not a big deal, pretty normal for BL, but still a bit of a disappointment for a novel of this quality.

Translation is excellent! Much appreciation for their efforts. <<less

This is becoming one of my fav novel... I have only read until 12 chapters and I fell in love with this (basically when I see the title, picture, and synopsis, I have fallen in love with this novel but after reading 12 chapters, I fall deeper XD)

I like their cuteness, relationships, actions and reactions. I am hoping that the story will not become boring because I really like it now...

You guys should prepare some tissues cause I believe you will need it :')

I love this story a lot, it’s written well with generally realistic portrayal of life (well not really but like... realistic enough that you can believe things can happen irl to different people except the rebirth as a dog part), and the translation was also done exceedingly well. Characters are written as individuals, some of course with less importance to the MC’s opinion but each of them with personal quirks. MC and ML are extremely well written too! I love ML’s maturity and I love MC’s overall character as a... more>> tyrant prez.

This is really good. So many fluffy, heartwarming moments but also so many heart-wrenching, tear-jerking moments. I seriously smiled and cried a lot (a lot!) reading this novel. You get really invested in the struggles and triumphs of the ML, and the bond between them and the MC really warms the heart.

once the MC turns back into a human, I feel that the story became rushed. The author really didn't explore much about the adjustment from dog to human, both on the MC and the ML. I wish they took the time to explore the changes in their relationship caused by that adjustment, plus their 5-year separation, before jumping to them becoming lovers. I would've really loved them having the chance to become normal (ish) friends first and just, getting to know each other as two humans, instead of becoming lovers almost immediately after the conflict between them was resolved.

The sudden romantic relationship is just a bit incomprehensible. I just... can't understand how the ML could easily turn his feelings of love for his pet/family into that of love for his lover?? I know he knew how extraordinary MC was, but he still thought of him as a dog for 10 years. I would think that there would be quite an adjustment from thinking of him as a dog he raised from a puppy to a human being with his own life and family and past. Their dynamics as lovers is just iffy considering that half the time (except for the very end), ML still wishes that MC was back to being a dog.... >_>

For new readers, beware of the angst in th first part of the story. The adults in this story is so infuriating that I really want to go inside the story to slap them hard

I really enjoyed reading this story. I was sad for the most part but seeing our Hang Hang so strong after all those hardships while having our puppy gong by his side, it is all worth it

ok, I thought this would be like a fluffy and cute story. (Yes. It can be considered as a fluffy story because there's a dog. AaAAaaaA I love Big Black)

but this is a trap huhu I cried almost every chapter. Y did u do this to me?

Honestly, this is an excellent story. The plot and the characters are well-written. The angst and fluffiness are balanced.

Give this a try and you'll know how good this story is.

This book is so good. I was a bit skeptic in the first few chapters, but later everything just hits like a truck. All the problems and everything is very realistic, especially for me cause I experience almost the same thing as the ML, be it separation or not a legitimate child, so this book touched me very deeply. This is cute, but it's pretty clear that this is one of the author's earlier and less well developed works. Somehow, MC and ML are both strong, yet end up in some weird rushed and co-dependent relationship. About half of the novel is fluffy pet times and the other half is some strange business/family face slapping drama. If the latter half didn't pull sh*t out of nowhere, this would have been a better novel.
