So far it's a bad rip-off of shikkaku mon and kenja no mago. The MC's personality is either being condescending or obtuse, or a combination of the two, and the fact that the chapters are relatively short only serves to accentuate that aspect of the novel.

Because it's pretty much a carbon copy of those two novels, (though I can think of a couple more novels and mangas that this series has been "inspired" by) there's not really much to say about the plot and themes. • The resemblance to Shikkaku Mon... is remarkable: a protagonists who was alive 1000 years ago, and since then the (better) magic that he had mastered has been lost to history. It's as if the author said "I can do something like that, " and did so.
  And the result has a lot of similarities: MC sees old magic everywhere, and he and his friends shatter common sense every chance they get. Being OP apparently is normal by his standards.
  If that sort of thing appealed to you in the other story, you may like it here as well.
  Or, the differences could irritate the heck out of you. You don't know until you've tried.
