Meng Chu is the fiancée of the male lead in the romance novel. She knows that the female side character is gentle and kind. Everyone thinks that she has deep affection for the male lead, even if he is extremely cold towards her.

The day the male lead and female lead reconciled, the male lead went to find Meng Chu to break the engagement with her.

Meng Chu heard a wonderful voice: “Congratulations to the host for successfully completing the female supporting character’ story.”

Just when everyone felt sorry for Meng Chu, she was busy buying planes and yachts to date a little fresh meat.

It's such a hilarious novel lmao. You just need to turn off your logic and just enjoy it.

Personally, I don't really like the ML. He is the male version of the stereotyped teenage girl in shoujo manga who is in one sided love and just cannot take a hint. ML seems to think that he needs to support MC (stereotypical male thinking). He still hasn't realised that MC doesn't really need his help. Still he is not a bad ML

This story is best when you're bored, don't want to think much but still want to read a Mary Sue character with laughs every chapter. The ML's motivation is a bit sketchy so far, but the MC is really cute.

Not for people who want plot/3D characters/to use brain while reading

3.5 but rounded down due to the odd writing style which often makes chapters hard to follow.

This story is about a woman who has transmigrated into an engaged woman bound to a "Side Character" system. She has to act like she is hopelessly in love with her fiance and cannot be a mean person. However, once the fiance breaks up with her, she can begin acting however she wants. The plot is honestly bonkers and not at all serious.

Upon breaking the engagement, she becomes an immensely more outgoing person and regularly just throws money at problems. She relies on the knowledge from the book to help herself along as well as the system she is bound to.

The ML is an "ordinary" guy who is really the CEO of a company. He's very cute and subservient when it comes to the MC, having fallen in love with her at first sight. While he does do some manipulation behind the scenes, he doesn't do anything truly black-bellied.

The story follows the MC's journey from the engagement all the way to the ML revealing he's the CEO of a company. Along the way, we see her try to reeducate her family into better people, the utter deconstruction of the ex and his new/old paramour and finally the MC's happy ending. Nothing the MC does fails so it's a fairly straight path to the happy ending.

We do get to see some face slapping but it feels more because the intelligence level of the rival is pretty low. The interactions dealing with the ML are also fairly entertaining. However, both begin to get tedious towards the end of the story as it's almost the exact same story beats on repeat.

The Rival just doesn't learn. She keeps getting money from the MC's ex to fund her water armies and help her get roles but the MC has more than enough money to deal with anything the rival throws at her. Any time she tries to step on the MC, the MC either has the perfect response or someone comes along to help the MC.

The rival is literally a money pit for the ex.

We do have some slightly enjoyable ends for the ex, his white moonlight and the other miscellaneous characters. However, it became pretty hard to care about them by the time we got to the ending. I will say that it was nice to see the character growth in the MC's family and how they all got mostly decent endings.

So this is kind of a mixed bag. Read it if you want to read a comical story about a woman getting her Happy Ending after completing the task set by some unknowable system and can tolerate some nonsensical paragraphs. <<less

it has a novel starting plot but the protagonist is just hands offish in everything, and she gives off the feeling that she does not care for anything which makes the novel a little bit boring. The ML is infatuated with her and it is insta - love for him and I don't like that trope.

The plot makes no sense. FL cries she will be poor after canceling the engagement and hence must find a job. Right after ending the engagement, she buys two villas that are astronomically more expensive than her previous apartment. After her plot ends, she continues messing with the novel's FL. The story is aimless and our FL is too frivolous for someone who longed for freedom while living as someone else. Trust me, you can not find a more illogical main character

And things like that. However, it's understandable because the story started at the middle (in media res) and to the latter stage of the supposedly novel that the system is bound to. So I feel like it's not very detailed and kinda incomplete but ignoring all those things and all those questions, I quite enjoyed the story since it's funny, especially the ML. He's supposed to be a domineering CEO (just like what he wanted to be) but he's such a wife s*ave so he's like a puppy to me HAHAHAHAHA. Anyway, the conflict created by the antagonists are repetitive but since the FL, Meng Chu, will immediately retaliate against her in a satisfying and funny way, it's still fine. Also, I really hope that the FL and ML have more sweet interactions (ML is my favorite!). Overall, it's 8/10. <<less

This is the kind of Mary Sue novel that other Mary Sue novels diss.

MC is OP. Everything she invests in generates huge amounts of money while slapping her family/ex-fiancée/OG-FL in the face. But the most mind numbing thing is idg why the ML likes MC? He’s a rich CEO, secret heir of a super big company but he just fell in love with the MC at first sight so he’s pretending to be a poor person to fit her taste?? ML has no IQ when it comes to FL. And... more>> MC is supposed to be restricted in her actions like she even has a system and missions or what not but she OOCs so often and the system doesn’t give her any punishment like there is absolutely no point in having the system as a plot point. <<less

I wonder how this shows up on my 'series ranking' 1st page?

The story is awful: it felt like the unfinished 2nd draft of a novel--plenty of ideas, the plot is moving, but it was not cohesive. The translator needed a help of an editor: not only there were typos, also the TL was hard to comprehend. It felt so raw, that I even think mtl novels are more readable than this :')

Dropped at 36, not entirely dur to translator fault, but also because the dog blood drama is too... more>> much.

Not only the antagonists who were s*upid, the ML is also one lol I mean how would you like a man who fell in love with a complete stranger on a first sight, stalking & talking her every word as if it was gospel (including when she refused) ? Oh btw the man is supposedly not a braindead teenager, but I guess some sort of an ultra successful species, never before fall to a woman's charm except for this stranger who is supposedly so beautiful, she is beating a true celeb with adoring fanbase that would rent a plane for the said celeb--all the while being so lowkey, humble, and invisible. How is someone so pretty be so invisible? How impossible

Good translation ✔️

The first 60 chapters felt like it was written on crack. It was very fast paced. One second she got a 1 billion as compensation then the next she won another billion from lottery.

Definitely contains face slapping ✔️

Romance is so-so. ML felt like a canon fodder from the start to ch 100. But their status very slowly changes.

You will get fluff in the last 5 chapters of this novel.

Agree with the other reviewers that it's a light and easy read. It's pretty fluffy and has decent pacing. For people who are looking for a dog blood drama, this is really not the fic. It focuses on MC's (Meng Chu) journey to becoming a successful career woman. The characters are okay but lots of empty content? Romance is a bit forced and doesn't make sense.

MC asks the true male lead why he likes her and he literally goes 'do I need a reason'? Also the synopsis is pretty misleading because the whole ex-husband plot is pretty pointless, it's really the ex-husband's first love that is really the focus and stirring sh*t up. Would have preferred it more if there was a greater focus on the ex-husband and him trying to make amends with MC (and utterly failing because he was a d*ck lol). Both ex-husband and his first love just serve as fodder and foil to show the sparkling lives of MC and male lead.

It's a fun read but you have to compromise on a smooth reading. The chapters are a bit choppy to read. Plus in some cases there are some loose ends, like what happened to the brother? The story is a bit fun to read at the start but then the story telling gets a bit sloppy.

Boring.. I cant take it anymore. I give up at ch. 67.

Its interesting at first, but then... No

I dont understand the system in this novel. After completing the mission, it's not clear what reward the system will give. And whats more is I think the author make the OG FL not like FL should be, she's too stup*d!!!

... more>> Is the author amateur? The reason why ML chases FL is also not clear, I cant understand why he likes FL and chases her..

In conclusion I didnt enjoy it at all, reading until ch. 67 was my limit. For anyone who finished reading this novel, I'm amazed.. <<less

I would say it's a good comedy story. There are no fluffy romantic moments for FL &ML but only hilarious funny moments. There are many plotholes but those plotholes made it more fun. I like the ML but he didn't have many appearances. The whole story is mostly about how former FL trying to suppress FL but FL face slapping her. But the plus point is that FL is capable of counterattacking by herself and not relying on ML though ML is a hidden overbearing president, FL was like 'I... more>> am also an overbearing president myself'. It's really hilarious how he trying so hard to pretend to be an ordinary person. He is really cute. I really wanted to see more of ML times in the story. Overall if want a story that makes you laugh after a long day it this story would be great. But if you are a romance fan then you may feel disappointed.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 <<less

I think the story is not bad, the MC view in this novel not to much attract to personal feeling because I see maybe this is not something real just follow the novel plot. She's need to restrain herself and can't be herself to much breaking the original novel plot. So the character is not really her and she's just play the character to make it alive. MC just try her best fulfill the novel plot but not want to be pity character maybe that why MC overwhelm showing her... more>> wealth. To find husband MC need to follow original novel plot MC can't decide it by her personal feeling but by mistake she's marry someone not following the original plot. This novel is just tell a story about a reader need to accomplish play a character in the novel until finish based on the plot already write down. Even MC don't like the plot in the novel nothing MC can do, MC need to finish the play until the end. For MC novel world is not the original world for her where everything happen not naturally. She's just get push by the system to play the novel plot and not accept it as real world for her to live in. MC life need according to the novel plot. But I like some character is funny. <<less

A good, short story. Well translated, sometimes funny and has a happy ending. A light read for mood lifting.

Plot: 8/10

+ short and yet satisfactory

+ transmigration into a novel and system (role of the system diminishes with time, but the fliw is there)

+ satisfactory face-slapping/karma without dog-blood drama

+ quite satisfactory evolution and ending of side characters (Meng Guang and their parents, Chen Jinfeng or He Xiu)

+ funny moments (chapters 114 and 121 especially)

- short (I could read more although the story feels complete)

+/- not a lot of action (fast cars, blood, drama). It is more focused on story and characters which actually feels right <<less

Lots of face-slapping. Once the MC is free from the engagement, she becomes super OP and the story becomes very repetitive and brainless.

ML is overshadowed by MC who is too OP at throwing dirt at the Original FM and Original ML.
