The only thing that I strongly dislike is that the author heavily relies on the damsel in distress trope. The FL, a modern surgeon and martial arts practitioner, although strong and capable and funny as hell, is always in mortal danger, over and over again, always in trouble, and needs to be rescued. Never a dull day!
I got bored with it eventually, when it became all about noble people, princes, etc. I turned a few pages to see what's ahead and dropped it. Mostly because even by then, although the ML and the FL see each other frequently practically since chapter one, there is no love. They help each other a lot, but for her he is just a piece of fresh young meat, anyone else could be in his place, no problem. She freely goes on blind dates, for example, in search of more fresh meat (eye candies, beautiful men).
The ML, in turn, has more feelings towards the kids than the FL, no intention to make her his, to marry, etc. He kisses her as he would kiss a girl from a brothel, or maybe an outside concubine (a merry young widow with kids) for example.
