I don't understand some bad reviews, all the characters are fleshed out nicely, they feel human and personally I found those characters intriguing.

Honestly even if the MC and ML swapped gender, I would still read this. I can imagine a lazy ass ML who's so capable but damn petty, and FL who doesn't want to lose face but is still quite shameless when she needs to yet kinda doting.

As someone in business, I can assure you that being too kind with family doesn't make you rich, but being clear with money doesn't really make you gather hatred within family either. Good family understood that your money is your money and you can do whatever you want with it. FL own the money, she can give it to ML if she wants to.

Also, the marriage deal initially stipulated that FL has money and she will support ML, in return ML needs to marry her. ML doesn't even ask her what she needs, clearly he was a Party B with unclear job. Honestly, when had FL NOT helping ML? Except when ML was too shy to ask for money, FL always helped ML albeit not giving money directly.

If I could finish it maybe I'd give it a higher rating, but it just became too edgy for me to read.

theres a rainy arc during the exposition of the past mysteries (parents mu*der) and they just randomly kill off one of the close side characters as a result of the MC deciding to be a virg*n Mary and save random people but also not execute things well at all (random lack of guards, random trusting strangers, random assassins, etc. This SOLELY existed to drive the MC and ML closer and honestly it was just so s*upid I stopped reading. The interactions in the entire arc felt so forced and artificial and out of character. Then they immediately replace the dead character w another character from this arc as if that makes any sense

All in all, I think it could have been good but around 70% of the way through the author didnt know how to start wrapping it up and choked

This is definitely a novel with strong slice of life vibes. The FL is a cold and indifferent transmigrator who had been reborn as the wealthy young miss of the Ji Family. In her previous life, she had spent most of it on making investments and managing businesses -- that didn't change in this second life. At the start of the story, she's fifteen, the perfect age for marrying back then, but she had just been dumped by her fiance and, more disturbingly, she found out that her reincarnation was... more>> actually a transmigration. Namely, she transmigrated as a cannon fodder in a royal intrigue novel with a forgotten prince vying for the throne. Her fate was to be married off to the emperor---which ended up ruining her entire family. to circumvent this fate, she decides to marry--and, by the way, steal one of the protagonist prince's chess pieces (the ML, the future prime minister.)

It's a very slow paced book. The protagonist is not someone I would call very charming, but she's not unlikeable either. She's the kind of FL that does what she does and doesn't care a bit about what anyone else thinks about it. She's also very VERY materialistic -- to the point that the only time she shows any reaction outside of being 'indifferent' and 'cold' is when money is involved LOLOL. Her opposite is a shameless, black belly ML who is pretending to be a pig to eat the tiger. He doesn't hold back when it comes to his acting, and he's quite miserly (he's very poor). They're actually quite a good match, though the development is definitely not 'romantic' in the traditional sense. Between these two, everything starts off a business agreement, and I suppose it takes a while (if ever) before things really heat up.

All in all, I think it's not a bad read. Not really my taste, but I gave it a shot, and was happy to get to know the characters a bit. The character profiles of the main cast is actually quite unique. The author was obviously not afraid of trying new things, and I appreciate that~ the plot itself is rather simple, so the development is reliant on the characters and their own little quirks. If I were to give this a rating... I think a 3.45/5 stars is the way to go. Just short of rounding up to 4 stars lolol. <<less

They remind me of the Addams Family. A strange gaggle of absolutely bizarre people and characters, who don't care or notice how strange they are, and who nonetheless love each other dearly and work as a odd, nontraditional, doting, family.

We have a charming con artist, a stoic princess, a pretty boy martial arts genius, a poison-obsessed hyperactive, a janitor assassin, and others. They become more and more like outlandish caricatures as the story progresses, but they remain charming and and entertaining, so I don't mind.

I think it's unfair to rate this low just because the romance didn't start until the middle of the novel. It's so well written and the characters are so entertaining too. I especially like MC's personality and how she and ML balance each other out. There's a tag for family business but it's not really the focus. You just have to know that MC is billionaire level rich. I wouldn't call the romance a slow burn, just that it went from partners to lovers right in the middle of... more>> the story. Although there weren't much moments of being shy or racing heartbeats before the actual romance, I find the timing and progress of their relationship appropriate. I liked the conspiracies too as they aren't that heavy, but you understand the weight of each event. I would recommend this to others. <<less

I loved it.

I really loved the dynamics between the MC and ML and the character growth *chef's kiss.

Definitely one of the best historical novels I've ever read.

Don’t really like BG cause the FL are usually brainless and act cute. But our FL here is none of that! Not bothering with useless emotions and men, only striving to capture the things that she wants - including our ML.

I like this novel. This novel is a little bit different from others. In this novel, the story’s plot flows with more logic and common sense. The romance’s flow is smooth and natural.

This is not cheesy or cringy romance novel. Both the MC are smart and scheming. Their interactions are funny and also cute, they are scheming each other to get what they want. The characters in this novel are three dimensional with their own quirks.

This novel is hella gooddd oh myyy each of the character is very special and has a strong characteristic.

The plot is very engaging and not draggy AT ALL, the romance is slow burn but its hot 😭😭 the tension is firee.

i would say that its a solid 3.7 for me.

the story had an exciting flow throughout and the Ji family (MC's family was quite cute) a pity the second brother was not mentioned in detail unlike the other brothers but it was nice. when it comes to the court dramas it was solved really well.

the side characters all have unique and interesting personalities and really enhance the story. It's a perfect blend of characters that make the story whole.

  • I read translated version till 46 rest I mtled. The novel is definitely different and more captivating compared to cnovels of this genre, no brain dead characters

    But some way or another the female lead gives me cold feeling It feels like author hasn't allowed the reader to know deeply about our MC may its because I mtled still the plot is solid 3.9

    The emperor is the person who acts like holier than thou but a real fool he definitely doesn't have qualities of monarch Maybe power got into his head I can't help but think that emperor and his inability to keep himslf in control has led innumerable emotional and vengeance entanglements. And hatsoff to empress she really did endure and laid back to strike. To think princes were swapped it's hilarious.

The characters are quite shallow. This novel feels like a mix of stereotypical Chinese novels minus the weak MC. Not only making fun of someone's personality, the author tries to bring down other people to praise another's appearance. For example, "even though he's handsome, he can't compare to white, jade like face of seventh ji" which just makes me cringe tbh. It’s a good story with some funny moments. FL is money oriented and ML is an expert as pretending to be a tiger in a pig skin. There is romance though it doesn’t seem to be the main focus of the story somehow. It feels like FL and ML are more in a friendship/business partnership with benefits kind of relationship, especially at the beginning of their story.

The FL is super calm comppsed competent and kinda cold but warm to her family she's very rich and ML completely relies on ner money so he needs her but he's not useless, there's a perf1ct bala ce between them and the romance politics and business talks are just right also the comedy is really present and makes the novel serious but also lighthearted and a fun read
