First off I want to say that the translator is doing an excellent job, so my review isn't to do with them at all. I read ahead using google translate and discovered that this book is very much PWP. More time is spent with the ML trying to get into the FL's pants than anything else interesting. If you're looking for political intrigue, palace fighting, face slapping, complex family dynamics, or anything besides snu su, this isn't for you.

The story is pretty much the description itself. Though it was good enough but I was actually expecting more than what was already said in the description.

I mean, mostly the description is only there to give insight of the story itself but not the whole thing, so maybe that's why I expect too much.

Anyways, it was a good read. Though I was expecting more extra side story or atleast much more well written ending as it seems rush to me.

This novel is what I would describe as okay. It doesn't excel in anything (except for maybe having more romance than a lot of others of this genre) and there are things to critique such as: many plotpoints being resolved very quickly without building up sufficient tension (although this sometimes felt relieving) , many important things happening but instead of letting the readers experience it, we get told of it in a few sentences, some characters not really being fleshed out / being very tropey etc. This novel does not... more>> focus on intrigue or politics as much as many others, romance is a focus and although the tags would imply differently, this is not really an erot*c novel; the scenes are mostly kept very vague and short, if you read it for that, you will be disappointed.

There is an age gap, our MC is 15/16 and the ML is 20-22, not the worst I've seen and yes, I know it may be historically accurate, but still. In general the story was ok, there was drama, romance, schemes, family struggles, a little bit of everything, but nothing really stuck out to me. The ML is, while a few of his actions were questionable, generally good; loyal, attentive, etc., always prioritising and protecting our MC, except from himself.

I'd say, if you want a novel that's a little bland, but not straight up boring, with a focus on romance to maybe clean your palate without expecting a masterpiece, you could give this a try. I wouldn't read it again, but it was entertaining enough to read it once. Wouldn't exactly recommend it, but wouldn't say to not read it, if you've got nothing else to read, give it a try maybe. <<less

Good story, though it did seem rushed towards the end, especially the political intrigues. It was just one narration after another of what happened, instead of the story actually unfolding. Seems like the author had to wrap up. In any case, it's still a 5 for me because I've rated lesser stories a 5 and I only read for the romance, which was very satisfying. All in all something worth reading if you have time to waste.

At first I thought the crown prince is the ML and I ready to curse coz he already got crown princes and child but then I check it again that the summary wrote that the person she like is some else which ML (Xie)... fuhh
