The story hooked me from the very beginning. This is NOT your usual "golden finger" system novel. The MC receives future stock tips from his 'system', but it only tells him if it has a good or bad future. He still has to do all of his own research, put in proper work, and think smartly to make use of the stock tip.

The MC is a genuinely nice person who is in it for the money, but he doesn't only think of his own profits; he thinks about his clients—your... more>> everyday people—who have entrusted their savings and earnings in his care. He is passionate about his work and his actual dreams and goals other than just money. He's polite, likeable, makes genuine friends, and also knows to stand up for himself when the situation asks for it.

The story moves along at a perfect pace and doesn't get bogged down in the technical stuff that could've made it difficult for people who aren't familiar with business and investing jargon. You will be able to understand and enjoy the story regardless of your knowledge—the story does a competent job to ensure that the reader isn't lost.

I will genuinely recommend giving this novel a read. <<less

Generally a fun read, although the ambiguity from the support system makes me question why it was even necessary to include it as a plot device.

The vast majority of the work is done by the MC, and as the story goes on, he actually gets less detailed info for the most part. Instead, he's fulfilling philosophically motivated investment quests to unlock more features, but most of the benefit of those features - if there is any - is not even covered by the story.

The most tangible effect is the small... more>> bits of luck he gets as a reward. But he might as well have been written as a regularly skilled investor with a lucky everyday life.

For the most part, the novel emphasises reliable investments, even if the value occasionally falls, or doesn't rise as much as alternatives. While just about every investment the MC makes is a success, it's not always the greatest success that he could have achieved if he really had supernatural knowledge.

Aside from that characters and dialogues aren't particularly deep or engaging, and there's no overarching story other than the MC's gradual success and career.

While it's good enough overall to still deserve 5 stars, I'd say it's at the lower end of that bracket, squandered some of its premise, and leaves much to be desired. I like it as an investment / finance novel, but it's certainly not going to be among my favourites in this genre.

Edit: I noticed that scrolling on mobile occasionally submits a rating for a novel when I happen to tap it. If the rating shows as 1 star or something, that's just accidental. <<less
