There is a certain restaurant in the first basement level of a multi-tenant building in one corner of a shopping street near the office district. The historical 70-year-old restaurant, marked by a sign with a picture of a cat, is called “Western Cuisine Nekoya.” This restaurant looks completely normal through the week, but on Saturdays, it opens in secret exclusively to some very unique guests. During these hours, doors in various areas of a parallel world open to allow customers of many different races and cultures into the restaurant. This “Restaurant to Another World” and its food hold an exotic charm to these highly diverse customers. This is a story of the heartwarming, once-in-a-lifetime encounters between our reality and another world, between the restaurant’s customers and its owner, and the food shared among them all.

Thank you, Fox's Coffee Time for picking up this gem of a series. I was so sad when the initial series stopped being translated at Chapter 15.

In general, I love this series for its simplicity and ability to give you tantalizing glimpses of a world beyond our own with a backdrop of the familiar.

This story is excellent it's true. There is copious amounts of food p*rn, actually it's all just food p*rn, but I'm pretty sure youshuko translations already got up to chapter 15.
It's a 5/5 if you're looking for a short light hearted mini shorts about people eating.

Extremely comfy read.

That being said, it's clear that this web novel and associated light novel were written either by a food critic or food blogger rather than anyone who's had any experience working in food service.

Wound up talking about the novel with a couple of friends who've actually had experience working in/running restaurants in the Tokyo metro area and most of them scoffed at a lot of the calculation errors and what-not regarding pricing, operating costs, and number of employees needed to maintain a functioning restaurant in Tokyo for several... more>> decades.

Especially the number of items on the menu (given the high food cost and food waste inherent in large menus) and the fact that nothing is over 1000 yen (this got a huge laugh from all of them).

So yeah, either this is alternate-universe Tokyo where the cost of living and real estate prices are sitcom-tier improbably low, or somehow Red Queen is secretly subsidizing the place with the occasional gold ingot.

But if you ignore those points (and the fact that whoever animated the animu has no idea how to properly hold and use knives-- according to Tokyo sushi-chef guy, it was pretty embarrassing to see a seasoned chef hold a knife like an inexperienced housewife), it's a fun, comfy read what is also very heartwarming in places (tsundere Elf getting herself an adopted daughter, all the Aletta bits).

Plus well-written food blogging, even if the author has no idea what goes on behind it to make the food possible. <<less

It's a great and fun novel to read. A true gem and a must read one too.

What I really love on this novel is that it will let you immerse not only on the daily happenings but it also includes his customers, and how interacting with the restaurant affect the "otherworlders" lives.

Edit: So pretty sure those people who loves pov chapters/reaction chapters will really like this novel

Ah yes this one got an anime version and I strongly recommend this one to any of you guys who are reading this review.

This is one of my favorites.

It gives you the same feeling you get when watching a live cooking izakaya vids in youtube. (Although this one focuses more on the ones eating rather that cooking itself.)

It is oddly addicting which will make you want more.

This is without a doubt food p*rn of the highest caliber. I believe that this WN is the best food novel on novel updates. Its also quite refreshing to read something slow paced and relaxing after reading all those fast paced xianxia and op protag novels. A pleasent alternative take on the cliched isekai genre
