I like rebirth themed stories, its always satisfying how they face slap enemies, or correct their wrongs or do better for themselves. I have read the story until chap. 26 only but I really don't like how the story is progressing (so I read spoiler).

The story for me is very heart wrenching, I know the ML was wrong but I don't believe that its a wrong that cannot be forgiven especially since ML was working hard to do good. I also don't Like that both ML and MC broke each... more>> other and until the end there was no true happiness.

Its a good read actually, just don't wanna torture my heart. <<less

This is actually my first review ever which also makes me pissed! It's 3:13am and I'm so annoyed! What sort of MC is this??? They should've called this novel the angst shou novel because it's just to terrible for my tastes! I actually had chest pains reading, I had to stop for my sanity!!

Gosh I need to read Jubo or The Legendary Master's Wife to be happy again!

  • at first I really enjoyed it cos there were lots of drama and basically both the MC and ML were in the wrong
  • ML was scared to love MC too deeply cos he was scared to have a weakness and wants both of them to stop tormenting each other emotionally but also he did not explain any of his plans to the MC making the MC lost and in the dark which is pretty unfair to the MC
  • MC loves too deeply and he had his reasons (aka his mom etc misunderstanding) and people behind the scenes were using him as tool and manipulating him so he fell into that trap tbh in his second life I though he would be a little bit smarter even if he stood up for himself more he was still somewhat in the trap like where is ur braincells hunny cant u see someone is tryin to set u up real time? Anyways he is also very stubborn like ML
  • in conclusion this is a very toxic relationship both the MC nd ML were in the wrong and both of them did not want to let go each other (one-sidedly) in each life time which I think is unfair to both in both ends
  • very frustrating anyways I could not continue reading anymore

This is of those love it or hate it trope and I’m not a fan of this trope but its execution (plus translation) was so well done that just read it. It was an emotional wreck but the temporarily becomes m for it so one can enjoy it wholeheartedly kind.
I didn’t like the main characters for obvious reasons and wasn’t that sad about their toxicity towards each other but gradually my dislikes went through seven stages of grief and acceptance and I learned to be fond of their relationship. Of course there’re flaws in their characters and a lot of simple miscommunications and misunderstandings that led them to misery.
Won’t read it again but would recommend to a friend and watch them go through the same suffering as I did.

Was super hard to finish, it was extremely hard for me to distinguish the memories, reality and both lives apart. Don't go in expecting the MC or ML to be redeemable, they are both extremely s*upid, especially the MC. They tried focusing on so many different elements at once, very confusing.

I really like the story, I love all this drama and suffering... But the truth is, ahrg! ML, are you dumb!? She is your wife, what is hard for you to speak words!? As always pride and stubbornness running over people since ancient times... Agree with @a mere canno... The MC is so annoying. I dont know why I still read this story and make my heart burn.

The MC is selfish, he thinks about himself, if he suffer he want other to suffer more than him. He dont want to listen, he only thinks that he is the only one who suffer.

A couple of times I got angry with the MC bad mouth, he is cruel, really cruel indeed. He can make others vomit a thousand bucket of blood.

-1* because I don't actually like tragic story like this.

Tbh, I was so abused when I read this one. The main characters just torture each other like eating candies.. It's kinda creepy if their love story isn't your cup of tea.

And at the end of the story I was asking myself, do they love each other?!! I was seriously questioning my 3 views. Lol.

It's not a cliche story, but too damn tragic and I wouldn't read another with the same type of story ever again. It's not my preference, but... more>> this story actually made me stay through the abuse. Yeap, I'm abusing myself reading this.

PS. I actually understand the story and the background on why they did what they've done, I still question this kind of twisted love (in their 2nd life) tho, just bcoz. <<less

Those novel warnings are there ⚠️ for a reason ⚠️ Source: I almost stopped reading this novel multiple times because of the heavy themes. But the story is well made and everything exists in it for a reason, I also like how the two didn't immediately make up with each other to how they were before. I really loved it and I hope YQC and LY live a happy and full live afterwards 😭 What they went through was INTENSE

I was rooting for MC to keep hurting ML, to not forgive ML that easily and to punish him more. But I got hooked with ML's infatuated and remorse. I didnt want to see them hurting each other no more.

The author is brilliant in writing such sympathetic ML and cruel MC. That it made me to give my cheer to ML instead. MC was loving ML very strongly that he couldnt see beyond his love. He couldnt even see and understand ML. What MC sees is his love. That's the... more>> reason they failed once.

It the fault of strong clingy love. It can only contain one's love. It needs understanding and equal respect from both. Thus when they manage to be equal and respecting each other, they can be at peace to love. <<less

I actually enjoy reading a toxic relationship like theirs but the MC is way too childish which makes it hard to root for him at times. I like how the author end the novel and I enjoy reading the side story too. Kinda wish the author started the novel with some part in the side story so that I can understand why the MC is the way he is from the beginning. Overall, it's not a bad read but it's not that great either.

At first I didn't mind their personalities too much because I've also read something like this but there they both know their mistakes and admitted it and change for the better, but this one just— I can't take it anymore. I also didn't agree with that certain comment that they're both crazy psychos before but now, crazy would be an understatement. They admitted their mistakes but never really did anything about it to make themselves better, instead they just blamed the other for being like that. I get it their... more>> childhood upbringing is probably one of the factors that made them who they are, but you could also chose not to be like those people who did harm to you. But then again they probably won't even have the chance to change knowing that their whole surroundings and environment is full of scheming and malicious people, even their own families. The only thing that I like in this novel though is that this novel shows that every person has both bad sides and good sides and sometimes the bad always prevail and it's mostly because of our own emotions. But I don't think I could finish this one. Angst and chasing wife crematorium is my taste but I also want both of them to realize that they have their wrongs and not just blame the past and the other. <<less

It started out pretty good, but the middle was not to my taste. The MC just kept on going and going, hurting himself, the ML, and so many other people. The title is misleading: the shou never really moved on. He was always, constantly, sinking in his past. The author made it seem like he was trying to move on, but really, it just seemed like he was burying his past behind rather than forgiving and forgetting, which are the very cores of moving on. Honestly, the story was hard to read. Not that the translation or the language used (the translation was very well done), but it was the plot and the characters. I really tried to read it through but I got to chapter 47 and was too fed up with the MC to continue. I rated 4 stars because of the translation and the writing itself, otherwise the story would be a 2.5 for enjoyability for me. I went from 47 to the last chapter and finished the extras so I have... more>> an idea of what happened in between.
I know that there were warnings every where that the MC was paranoid but I really underestimated how paranoid he was, and to me, he is the most hateful character in the book.
Everything arose from miscommunication or more precisely, lack of communication. If there were ever a tale to remind us to remember to voice our thoughts and communicate with our partners or suffer the consequences, this would be it. <<less

MC commits su*cide and comes back some 2-3 years in time. Starts to see things more clearly and realises he was too devoted to the MC with no returns. Learns to love his own family which he neglected in the past (& tentative future). ML also comes back in time, who regrets MC's death. ML realises that MC has changed and realises the deep mess he's in. Later, they learn how both of them kept a lot of thoughts from each other and that things were not as they seemed.

Running into this novel after I tried reading it (and dropping it) in the beginning of last year, I created this account just to give it a review.

I really wanted to like this danmei and see the ML trying to redeem himself, but the protagonist was really unlikable. I'm not even gonna pretend that I read a lot of chapters and that the reason I dropped this was because of the way the MC treated the ML (although I have no doubt I would end feeling like this if I... more>> were masochistic enough to torture myself by reading more chapters from this novel).

I dropped this because it infuriated me how the MC was even dragging innocent people into his schemes.

It's made very clear right at the start that ML lost his head after MC committed su*cide in his past life. MC is aware of the fact that ML is acting differently now, although he doesn't know the reason why. Despite that, what does MC do? He keeps getting close to this qin player, Ruan Lian. The story takes place in a time period where those in power could do anything to those below them and things could end badly for someone in MC's position if they tried to seduce someone else, except that now that the ML is a yandere, the only one who'd end drawing the short end of the stick would be poor Ruan Lian. MC's callousness and ignorance of the way his actions could affect an innocent servant was the last straw for me.

I think some of the emotion got lost in the translation. It’s a very good translation tho but I feel like the author would have wanted more of that raw emotion to come through.

This is a heavy emotional/psychological romance story. There were some (quite a lot actually) mental health issue triggers and readers should be aware of that.

[IMO, both MC and ML are red flags. Both had a pretty rough childhood even with loving family in the beginning. They grew up depending on each other emotionally, thinking that they only... more>> had each other. I partly blame the Prime Minister (MC’s father) for leaving the MC grew up alone. I know he felt guilty for MC’s mother’s death and also the stabbing. And I know that the MC himself couldn’t accept him after his mom died. But, he was a child. He shouldn’t be left to live alone. The PM should’ve tried harder to show that he’s there for MC even after everything.

Hnggg I have mixed feeling for this novel. Please note that these are my personal thoughts.

The shou is a pampered flower that raised carefully in green gold house, so when he meets palace's politics, he became... useless? Annoying?

Altho I admitted, I quite enjoyed this novel in the first quarter. I even cried. But... the novel kept become more unbearable... and unbearable... The author keep justify and clarify the MC's reason for his behavior.... At first I was like, "O.. yaya, I understand his point of view and feelings. Okay I... more>> can understand." But it later kept being worse and the excuses are being repeated and repeated... ugh.

Actually the ML has his own reasons. Even after the ML explained it, the MC agreed that the excuses sound right. It just that the MC is too paranoid and crazy. Even everyone and the MC said so (repeatedly too).

At this point, I really pitied ML in the later chapters. The author keep emphasis that the MC is just wilful, he just wants to not listening, so what? He just wants the ML to follow his wishes and got his right amount of love dosage, no matter how crazy the amount and either the other party is capable. All he knows, I paid you this much love, so you must also give me that much love. Hey, the ML is emperor, he not only has to give 1000% himself to you bruh. He's not like you who only has to think about harem, with the emperor secretly helped you with harem fights. He just reaally kinda... egoistic. Please note, even the MC started to thinking like this too, but he dismiss it. Hnggg, really, quite hard to explain. Tbh I'm sleepy after reading this rn. I gave up
