Xia Zuoyi traversed and became a beautiful and delicate little lord in a fictional Western medieval fantasy novel. His gender was male, he loved males, and the role was cannon fodder. Under the shining halo of the Mary Sue heroine, in order to promote the development of the plot, he was constantly mentally disabled. He was, eventually, convicted and hanged to death.

After passing through, Xia Zuoyi touched his white and tender neck and thought, ‘I don’t want to be gay. I’m going to do infrastructure. It was better to do infrastructure than to fall in love! Please let me be beautiful alone! Thank you!’

Pope/Duke/Leader: Did we agree?

Here, the upper class was distinct from the lower class. The hierarchy was strict. Here, food was in short supply, medicine was backward, and city-state disputes continued. The prosperity of the nobility and the depression of the common people flourished together. Here was the romantic capital, but also the wild world.

There were rumors in the Western Continent that the Pope had the favor of God, the Grand Duke had more power than the king, and the leader of the chamber of commerce took over the wealth of the empire. However, Xia Zuoyi, in the name of Lord Rose, promoted the civilization and economic development of the whole Western Continent, unified city-states, and created a powerful industrial empire. He was the glory and the most vivid rose of the empire. Rumor had it that the Pope, the Grand Duke, and the Leader all bowed under his pants, but Lord Rose was dismissive.

Xia Zuoyi: The rumors misunderstood me. Q_Q

Oh my God the ending is one of the sweetest!!!! I'm glad he end up with the one I'm rooting for~ and those that says the ML come out of nowhere, r we reading different novel??

Spoiler

He met the ML the earliest among those 3. And its so obvious there's so many hints everywhere and MC clearly treat ML differently !Yes ML is Saigalot! The pope~❤️ I was heartbroken at first when Orville appeared n translator said here comes ML #3, , I thought #3 just like an emoji like :3 x3 so my mind read "here come ML", n since I was rooting for the pope I was so so heartbroken 😂😂😂 n those against the pope, do u realise the pope is probably the youngest among the 3 ml???according to translator their age is very young too. He was just a young boy himself when they first met. He inherited the pope position when he was young.

[collapse]

I just love world building story u know so this easily one of the best read for me~ full of fluff with those cuties toooo ❤️❤️❤️❤️ sad we didn't c their cub QvQ

Ofc it's not perfect, like most of the building part author just skim over it but still pretty interesting. <<less

So with this story, the MC is an adult, who turns into a child and becomes cute, but he does incredibly evil things that wouldn't be cute if he was an adult protagonist for even a.02% chance of surviving in the future where all he has to do is not be gay when he isn't gay originally. Someone betrays him, slightly, and he kills them. He takes no prisoners. Every character in the story is either insanely loyal or they will die. The age gap also makes me somewhat uncomfortable... more>> because it's kind of obvious and the mc's body is very young. The main conflict in this story is with the church of h*mophobia, but it's not completely fleshed out. It's not like gay people are even being accused of stealing babies and boiling them like with witches. Idk, maybe it's fine. <<less

Misinformation but the word choice is just beautiful it's not irritating. Not as in expansive description, it's fairly fast in regards to that.
It's an obvious feels good series with drama that resolves quickly and comfy themes.

Notabley the best feature of this novel is that it's CN using JP industry tropes. So it's available for MTL. I grew tired of JP series cause they would propagate and turn town-building into a cultural agenda, and this series? It gets around.

I love everything, except that the MC got a brain damage whenever the romance between him and ML happened. The MC didn't even notice that something was wrong nor didn't even think of what favor should he return back TO ML.

Also, I got a little bored in the latter chapterss

This Novel absolutely good I'll give it 5 stars because the story well written and fit with my taste.

  • The MC smart, hardworking, lovely and charming
  • The system not annoying like other isekai novels but allow the MC doing what he wants plus always gives MC good gifts when come back.
  • Story of the novel concentrate on building the economic, politics, infrastructure/structure, healthcare, ect.
  • Slow romance

I'll just preface this review by saying: "it's not that deep, bro"

I was really enjoying this despite a few things that bugged me. It only got until a certain part and I came back here to check for spoilers because I have a Hella long TBR list, and I don't want to waste my time on something I know will disappoint me. But again, it's not that deep.

It's an enjoyable city-building type. Haven't read one in a super long time. It had the added perk of being BL. There are... more>> a few (a lot) farfetched things but neglible in the overall story. Don't read this if you're looking for something super realistic. It's entirely more enjoyable when you suspend your disbelief.

The thing that ticked me off, that I was able to ignore for the most part early on but then made me eventually DNF: the whole Pope and religion thing.

I'm not a catholic and I do understand that most asians who grew up non-Christian backgrounds have a weird idea and depiction of Christian churches (see multiple animes and other depictions in entertainment). Just like how the western world mixes up a lot of different Asian cultures and conflates it all in one big mess when it comes to depicting it. This isn't a deal breaker for me. I get it, and I can distance myself from it as a reader and go along for the ride. (lol multiple QTs with that random arc with priests and stuff hahaha)

What was a deal breaker was: the ML being the Pope figure. The story used Pope but his background was more of like how a Saint would be in other similar fantasy novels. I would have been able to overlook the author just picking out titles (bishop, priest, etc) and using the hierarchy of it. A few other stereotypes and stuff.

But then the author went out of their way to emphasize that homosexuality is a big No-no in the novel's main religion. And then the Pope guy just kept creeping on the MC. Because it's what it is. Just creepy. I'm not gonna say outright grooming buuuut...

Also, again, I'm the type who usually gives stuff like this leeway but confirming that the pope was going to be the ML just gave me a huge ICK. I give leeway to a lot of illogical things but this just rubbed me the wrong way, compounded with ML's position, plus weird grooming vibes.

Super super icky. Like seriously. But if you can ignore that, it's a fun light and enjoyable read. Just not for me. <<less

I honestly didn't expect to like this novel a lot. The theme is new to me and I actually feel hesitant to read it at first. Just like how I came to like apocalypse and interstellar stories that I avoid before. Even tho the romance part sucks I think author made a good decision to focus more on MC's mission.

I have few concerns about the story that I'd like to point out. There are times that author made some unnecessary scenes longer while the interesting ones shorter, although not a... more>> big deal I can't help noticing it. Also about the exploration, it would be great if it didn't end just there, I hope they could explore more like MC himself participating in the exploration, I think it would widen the world building more. I feel bad for Wright because his lover have to kill himself just to protect Wright (apparently same-s*x love is a sin there and they could killed if exposed) but Wright ended up realizing that having the throne is not really for him, really a tragic love, we ended up not hearing about him anymore after the black plague arc where he left with the prince of Ami to travel around.

As for what I like about the story... A lot, that I already forgot some of it hahahaha. Number one... The plushies! I love the cuties a lot and author didn't deprived us their cuteness at all, all of them have their own personalities. I also love the last extra a lot but I won't spoil it hehehe. Actually just read other people's review about what they like about this cuz I'm the same. Ah! And it's kinda nice that the OG!FL is not evil, just kinda naive but at least she find a good man even tho she actually got a crush on our baby 👀

Regarding MC's OPness that no one noticed? I quite understand because he's inside a ridiculous book itself and logic mostly didn't work since the plot deviation haven't reached 100% yet so they just see it as out baby MC being a genius.

Its quite funny how Pope act like a pe*vert before when MC is still young but at least he still kept his distance and didn't open up until MC reached adulthood. And if I were MC, I'll pick Orville in a heartbeat, he's just so frickin cute. And Archie? He's such a bestie material hahahahaha. Btw I kinda feel bad about the OG!ML but at least he's still alive ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯ <<less

If you're the type to enjoy stories focused on infrastructure-building, then this is definitely a good novel to check out! I was initially hesitant about it because the reviews looked like they were half-positive and half-negative. But I guess that worked out in my favor too? Anyway, let me explain... The MC of this novel transmigrates in a novel as the 6yo Little Earl of a small territory in the Western Kingdom (the novel is historically set in the Middle Ages). He's equipped with a SYSTEM that gives him access... more>> to modern and futuristic technology so that he can deviate from the intended plot of the novel. If he doesn't, he runs the risk of getting the same bad end as the original Earl, who died as canon fodder because he dared to chase after the heroine's main lead.

Ironically, while this novel satirizes the fact that the original protagonist of the novel was a Mary Sue, the MC of this novel ends up being a bit of a Gary Sue himself. Because of the SYSTEM, he is able to accomplish practically anything, and with his beauty and skills, he manages to wrangle a number of male leads who inexplicably fall in love with him along the way. Anyway, because I was pre-warned about this OP-ness and the poor romantic development, I didn't mind it so much and just focused on the way the MC slowly advanced the development of his territory with modern technology and practices. I enjoy that kind of thing~ Though I understand some people may not people the same LOL.

The TL is a little bit difficult to understand at times, but its quality is pretty stable. I would definitely have preferred to read it completed, but since it's not, I ended up going for the MTL -- which actually was not bad. The mix-up with the names (translation of Western Names written in Chinese back to English is... well >.< not good) kind of confuses things, but the general text is about 80% readable (definitely better than most novels.)

CHARACTERS: 6/10

As an infrastructure novel, there are of course lots of characters! The focus is not on developing them, but the large cast does leave some impact. The author shifts perspective occasionally to show how the changes the MC makes affect the people around him, which I think was handled pretty well.

Xia Zuoyi (MC)

Transmigrator! His background is kept primarily ambigous and is not very important. He's just very driven to make sure that the plot deviates, which requires a lot of hard work on his end. I don't really feel much for this MC though, because he was primarily a vessel from which things were done.

Pope - Segalot (ML)

His appearances are smaller than the MC's little fluffy babies, so I don't feel much for him either. Much like the supporting MLs, he was mostly here to be eye-candy lolol

ROMANCE: 4/10

Ooof the romance... is a bit problematic because of the ages involved. And even, if you put that aside, as a Shounen Ai work, the romance itself isn't really the most developed. It's not the focus of the novel, after all.

SETTING: 10/10

I like the setting of this novel and I think the author put a lot of thought into it! This kind of infrastructure-building novel reminds me of the "Sand Sculpture Demon King: Online Farming" novel, but it's a little more grounded because it doesn't have Western Fantasy Elements. As in, a lot of the infrastructure is more realistic, or true to the times. Of course, I have no real way of knowing how much of the research is accurate, but I found it very interesting!

PLOT: 7/10

The plot of this novel is a bit of hit or miss. If you like infrastructure novels, then you'll no doubt enjoy reading this. As a bonus, there's also lots of eye-candy (lolol) and cute and majestic animals. However... if you're the type to prefer character-centric novels with a lot of drama and romance, then this is not for you.

PERSONAL ENJOYMENT: 8/10

I think this rating will skew things quite a bit, but I can't help it~ I like what I like.

RATING: 3.5/5

My overall view of this novel is positive -- because I was prepared regarding its disadvantages LOLOL. I'm glad I read it in the end, even if it took me a while to pick up the courage to because of the reviews. <<less

I've caught up!

Reading this makes me nostalgic about "A tale of strategies for the throne". I really love MC being kids and even if I have to suffer before the romance starts, it's worth it.

It's worth it.

I like this one.

I MTL-ed it and it’s easy to understand.

I like how MC ruled his territory. There are also some things that the author didn’t elaborate that much but it’s still okay.

Although MC has a modern knowledge advantage, he still gave the chance to other people who has the talent to discover or invent things by themselves. He only gave hints or advices and then let them think about it by themselves.

Spoiler

I'm also amused when MC fell into a conspiracy by his pen pal without him knowing it (only when the conspiracy was revealed did he found out that he was used). I thought that won't happen to MC but it did hahaha.

[collapse]

Although I like the plot, there's some things I'm not satisfied with. For example
Spoiler

why does Samuel didn't go on voyage again? What about the previous alchemy tower where the alchemy association started, what happen to them? What about the North? Something like that.

[collapse]

All in all, It's a good novel. <<less

a good novel.

it's shonen ai, not yaoi...
but it's cute.

the MC (shou) is very cute and the story begins when his body is 6 years old...

it will be 150 or 160 chapters before there is romance

the ML (gong) is super adorable from the start.
he loves and supports the MC.

there are "a lot" of ML but the MC is only in love with 1 ML.
so he rejects others and remains friends.
and for some, the MC doesn't even know they are "in love" with him...

this is not a harem novel,
shame :)

it is therefore a sweet story on the MC which expands its territory and advances technology.
it's not annoying.
but love... is very, very far...

thanks to the author

thanks to the translator

Main story completed.

The ML is the pope. They get together officially around chapter 180 but there's kisses before that.

Love the kingdom building and the development of technology etc from handicrafts to steam engine, medicine, clothing design, sugar making, salt making etc. Most of these skills are developed from books the MC exchanged for points from the system.

The system is pretty absent but everytime it shows up it brings a fluffy animal as a gift! The cuteness is overload! Critical hit! Lion, tigers, husky, white wolf, giant eagle, white fox, panda,... more>> honey badger, and even a killer whale!

Transmigration from modern times to historical western times.

Our MC is beautiful and cute! He starts out as a kid (around 6 years old). It's so cute to read about him growing up. Being carried around by servants because he's too young. But don't worry he grows up pretty fast so it doesn't feel dragged out.

MC and the ML gets married at the end of the book (at a respectable age modern legal adult age of around 18?). <<less

A very good historical-building novel, at the beginning when I saw the negatives comments I just shelved it until I felt like reading it. And I wish I did long ago, it's the second time I am reading it. (Since then I will read comments but don't take it too much 🙃🙃) anyway. This is a story about the MC traveling back to the Middle Ages as the lord of the poorest city and trying to rebuild everything with an infrastructure's system. It mainly about the MC building his... more>> territory, so if you are here for romance you may be disappointed.

Some people say that the system is what make the MC Op but I think it's okay compared to what I had read (in which the system tasks the host and the host will use point to redeem this and that to become super OP and everyone will feel regret that they don't know the host was this amazing, or when the host is already OP and the system is a cute mascot) long story short, the system use points redeem books about everything you can imagine and that's it, the system isn't even with MC most of the story it's busy traveling with other systems and only come back to give the MC gifts which is the cutie beasts he has so I think at least the MC did seem like a real hardworking college student reading and collecting informations, although without the system things wouldn't come so quickly like this indeed. Especially when it come to engineering, machine, and medicine, so yeah I agree and disagree with this opinion.

the characters are really good I like the MC friends, and the butler I love him. But when it comes to romance I think it's no good, it was very fast and at the ends of the story while in the beginning it's just glimpses, but it is not that bad to it's disappointing so yah it was okay for me since I came mainly for the building part and some romance. <<less

I didn't have much expectations for this cause of some of the reviews but this novel is definitely interesting and worth reading imo.

Though I do agree that it's very smooth sailing for the MC im not mad since that's exactly what I was looking for.

A fulfilling, light-hearted story with a slow and steady approach to daily life!!

I'm looking forward to more ~

My feelings on this one are a bit complicated, so I thought to sort them out through a pros and cons list.

Cons

    • Writing needs work. At times, the unnecessary parts are detailed and the necessary parts are not, leading to quite a bit of confusion.
    • This strangely felt like a Gary Su novel, which is ironic considering the point of the plot was the prevent the Mary Su developments

      ?
    • The plot was stretched out in an unreasonable manner and even contradicted itself at times. The fact I can summarize what happened in half a page yet the author took 200 chapters to do so

speaks for the plot complexity itself.
    • The ML romance isn't developed that well at all. Most of them didn't really contribute that much to the plot They seem to serve as solely love interests.
    • The main love interest: the pope. Like what exactly did he do that was significant? So confused on that. He was the most useless character and offered only occasional help and advice. Not to mention he made me uncomfy when he started having an interest in the MC at 10-14 years old?
    • No one questions the MC. He lacks obstacles that adhere to common sense. No one questions how young he is when he's doing so much shit? And does his animal collection that legit is full of exotic animals not spark any suspicion?
Pros

    • The animals. They're adorable.
    • The plot isn't too badly constructed, it's just poorly written.
    • Unique western settings with good visualization
    • Steady and nicely done world building
    • Strong MC (albeit with plot armor)
    • I really don't have that many pros to list. Like my rating suggests, it's purely an OK read.
Conclusion

I think I made my conclusion obvious, but it's a un-exciting novel and a bit lackluster at times, but overall an OK read. My time feels a bit wasted though

Anyways, yeah. I don't really get the high reviews here.

i managed to finish this one after searching for the MTL version, for someone like me who cant stomach MTL much, it was easy to read and understand. I love the plot, world-theme building and the likes, esp it includes beasts. Maybe in the beginning I was hoping for an "MC with 3ML troupe", but yeah overall I love this one.

11/10! The plot is very interesting. It is like a Kingdom-building story but with a touch of bl romance. The MC is cute and intelligent. The male leads have their own edge, good in different fields. I am flustered and giddy because the MC and male leads are so cute. But, most of all, I love all the plushies (Xie Xie pet beasts). Though, I don't know yet who will end up with our MC. Maybe it's a harem? But who knows. My pick is Segalot.
