Such underrated story (only 3.5??) ! This story is wonderful. The romance is beautiful and the smut excellent.

Finally a yaoi story that deserves the yaoi tag. The couple is super h**ny for eachother and smut is frequent, explicit and super hot. The smut is better than those pure smut stories. And dont worry, ML was 17 and MC 23y when they had their 1st time. Its a more than decent age for a historic setting.

The plot isnt thick, but that applies to 80% of the BL novels here. At... more>> least the plot here is well executed and the characters are not too exaggerated or too OP in unrealistic way. The drama and angst are also within a pleasant, enjoyable and realistic range.

There are minor things that could be better. For instance, ML is apparently total ignorant when it comes to s*x, whilst the setting is barbarian country with rough men and warfare. No one explained to him how babies are made? Not so realistic, right? Even if you are not told about s*x, its primal instinct to know these things and how to do it.

ML is truly a little wolf pop that turned into a giant wolf. In the end he is a truly big, tall super masculine warrior king. Super yummy. I felt the testosterone breathing from the pages. He is domineering, but it fits the premise and setting totally. He is the Barbarian King. But he is super doting and totally devoted to his queen. But on the other hand, he also lies to his queen and does things when he thinks MC is too soft hearted. Imo, the overbearing is justified considering the storyline and in comparison even less than in those super OP overbearing modern president CEO stories that are more unrealistic.

MC is kind and a wonderful person. Forgiving. Only flaw is that at the beginning especially he was a bit weak. But the character setting is totally fitting. He is and should be someone submissive. Afraid to be discovered and worried and somewhat insecure about his role as a queen who might not be able to bear children.

The translator is above par and wonderful. And Im super grateful and looking forward to the other BL choices she translated. <<less

It's a plot with p*rn novel

Okay, honestly at the beginning I was very worried with the Low Rating. And lot of lower than 5 stars review. But I still chose to believe the one who gave 5 stars and started to read this novel. And I'm not disappointed!

First you really should understand that our MC is Absolutely Flawed! He's not a Bad Character. He's just Very Soft person and Very Insecure and felt Inferior because his Special Gender.

He was born and grow as a Timid person. Until finally he met... more>> ML.

He was still very Soft and Timid and mostly full of Tension because the secret. He grow less timid after his secret revealed, but still Soft and Insecure.

Most would get frustrated by his softness toward a certain scene, but at least he wasn't s*upid in the end. And his softness toward that one certain thing was Understandable. But still rather Frustrating. But it's okay, ML would make us feel better!

ML always respect MC's kind-hearted personality. But ML also has his own Morality. And we will be so glad with this personality of his!

ML was like a Duct Tape to MC's Flaws. The hole that was Created by MC's softness, he will cover it. In a way he also like a Tape that also would always Stick to MC. ML would ALWAYS Protect MC.

Oh but even with MC's softness, he have not and Won't EVER create trouble for ML!!!

MC will be soft about his own Problem, but everything that relate to ML, he will always listen to ML. HE WILL NEVER BETRAY ML!!!

About ML's characteristic... I have no complain about him. He's no Perfect, but he's Very Very Good and he keep Growing to be Great! In a way he make MC learn things about what was good and bad, and vice versa, he will also listen understand what MC want about things that won't harm them and their country.

Anyway it's a Really Good novel! It's far from Perfect, but it wasn't bad either. It has no Angst, just some Feelings. And lots... I mean LOTS OF SMUT SMEXY SCENES!!!!! Like I said, it's plot with p*rn novel.

I'm pretty satisfied with the ending. So of course will give it 5 stars!!! I Enjoyed it and Loving it!!! <<less

MC is so annoying LOL I don't advocate bullying but this time MC really doesn't know how to stand up for himself at all and deserves it. No backbone whatsoever. Even a cornered rabbit will bite but MC? Nope. Not even in his thoughts.

And ML is just as annoying when they finally had kids. Being jealous here and there.

I don't understand why there are writers who do this to their characters. Is it funny? Is it lovable? Are you okay?

Currently in chapter 29 and the MC is acting so frustrating.

After reading the tool man novel it awakened me to a whole new world of decent direct communication between that novel's MC and ML so seeing the misunderstanding that's currently happening in this novel when it could've been solved through honest communication is so irritating and frustrating.

my rating is still 5 stars since the following chapters before chapter 29 was decent. Will edit and change my review if the novel's couple progress gets irritating or better.

edit: MC is such a... more>> pushover :| what a turn off. The more I kept reading the more I'm fascinated on how the MC is the male version of the usual s*upid female MC in BG novels lmao. Shoutout to kevrui in the comment section for having common sense lmao love reading their comments dissing the MC

I've reread this novel many times. I love everything of Xia Xi and Chu Lan. Their interactions, care for each other and understanding of each other were relatable, simple and understable.

What Xia Xi did was understable because he came from Chinese royalties where every person there knows and follows the rules that has been there for many centuries. It's obviously hard to change them in a short time and adapt to a completely new environment when you don't even know what is normal outside the palace.

I truly loved our little... more>> king Chu Lan. He is a good husband, especially in bedroom ^з^. Sometimes he is very pushy in regards, but he never did someting Xia Xia didn't truly want.

Author mostly used Xia Xi's POV, so we don't get to see actual political struggle or battles. Still, they were there.

Such a wonderful story. Love the fluff and the hot snu snu! The chapter is short so there’s no dragging, and the whole story and plotline went very smoothly. There’s drama and a bit of humour and also alot of hot smut. Love both MC and ML their cute interaction and even the little prince extras. I know alot of ppl don’t like MC saint mary kindness, but logically his behaviour is explainable. Due to his body and he way he grows up, he is extremely timid, shy and view... more>> himself not normal, how can he turn vicious suddenly even ppl want to harm him? And because I feel he was “ sheltered “ he can afford to be extremely kind. Hence ML will protect and shelter MC, and be the villains for him. I should have put five stars but my finger slipped.

This story is amazing! Good characters, good s*x scenes and I’d dare say, a bit thought provoking.

If you like sm*t this is the story for you. If you like yanderes this is the story for you. If you like loyal, no misunderstandings MLs, this is the story for you.

Also, the translation is very good. Give this novel a chance!

Omgh this story was amazing!!!

I have read many Yaoi stories but most of them are not Yaoi they are just Shounen-ai.... This novel made my thirst for Smut satisfy❤

The rating is fairly low, but this was perfect for me, I took a break near the middle but afterwards wow it's hard to stop reading.

I highly recommend people to read becuase even the start is very good. The MC is amazing definitely got me in the feels, the author and translator did a good job, truly understood the characters.

The ML I like, he just makes sense, is loyal and also a actual person not just a decoration or plot device, he seems like he could be a... more>> realistic king.

Anyways read this, characters are awesome, it's hard for me to say since everything was good but arranged marriage folk this one's a gem. <<less

If you're here for the smut, this fic is pretty good. If you're here for everything else though, this fic is a solid meh. While I liked the interactions between the MC and ML for the most part, I honestly cannot stand the MC. At all. If you like gentle and kind and let's people walk all over you type of characters, then MC is it. ML is a much more interesting character, but we don't see him much unless they're having s*x. Because you know, if the ML shows... more>> up, there's some NSFW chapter on the horizon.

Spicy 🌶: 3, 5-4/5

Pleasant reading. Good translation and the flowing of the story never really left space to be bored. A short story to light your mood but not exclusively cute and fluffy, the angst was limited but present deepening the plot. All things considered worth reading if you need a novel to spend your time without ruining your mood. Nothing life changing but I appreciated.

Maybe writing some more chapters could have delve into some aspects that were left hanging ... more>>

Pros:

  • The historical setting was relatively realistic, quite obviously taking inspiration from Mongol empire. The political dynamics even if sparsely depicted were understandable and realistically possible given the setting.
  • Story was really heartwarming specially in their everyday-life scenes. ChuLan is a really sweet ML.

  • Good smut, not very original but relatively realistic for the time, and well written despite the peculiar constitution of MC. It became a strong point in the scenes, being my first time reading about inters*x people in a smut book it was really refreshing.
  • The angst was mild, nothing too traumatic and fastly resolved leaving space to reconciliation, the couple almost never fight seriously it was mostly a misunderstanding.
Cons:

  • The MC is too king and naive, trying to cope with the loneliness he felt as a baby by being extremely attached to the wrong person, even against his well being. Luckily the ML intervenes forcefully taking the rights decision while attempting to not hurt the sensible heart of his wife.
  • The ML has often a childish behaviour that lasts until the end of the novel, probably due the circumstances in which he has known MC. It's not really a fault because it's cute, and he can be a proud adult when needed, but his sometimes trown tantrums could wear you out.
  • MC has too low self-esteem, this causes most of the angst, and his refusing of communication just gives you and headache.
  • Not very pet friendly.
  • Some parts are treated lightly, the side stories are too short. The side couple could have had their own book but didn't, as said in the first spoiler.
  • Even if good the smut is somewhat distracting from the plot that could have been written leaving it a bit lacking.

I personally like it, I agree that this is like shojou instead yaoi, cus the difference was just our MC was inters*x and he identified himself as a man although his biological s*x is close to woman, our MC is holy father and sometimes I hate it, his hand maid want to seduce his husband and he just sad, not angry, and give the maid to his husband, I really got pissed cus of him and this holy father characteristic of him that make this novel more lack common sense,... more>> and I absolutely agree that smut spicy scenes is worth it <<less

I loved loved loved it very much, especially the characters and I must say the main lead is the best one I have ever read. Very rare in danmeis. The consistency of the personality and background story is remarkable

It's heartwarming the scenes with their children and the smut was well written.

The plot is great, the translation is good and the smut is smuting !

Be aware that's the MC is the soft and kind don't read it if you except a cunning and op one.

Nice smut but I wish the MC will have some spine. I get that it's because of his upbringing but him being spineless has made him a shitty mother.

Examples:

    • Spoiler

      When his maid tried to make him have a miscarriage, instead of immediately punishing her, he kept making excuses for the maid saying that he wronged her by making her ML's concubine. I mean, I don't think fetuses are people but he obviously cared about having a child for the ML so I didn't feel he was upset that he almost miscarried. He even allowed the maid to go back to their home kingdom.

This was my third try in reading this. The first time, I couldn't get past the first couple of chapters as the setting wasn't to my taste. The second time I got around to it, I was craving MPreg. Still couldn't get into it.

The third time I tried reading it, it was for the smut tag. I finally got over a few of issues I found and turned a blind eye to it, and surprisingly enjoyed the smut lol

But I'm at chapter 48 and I can officially say I don't... more>> feel like continuing. I didn't mind the MC being weak at first since it usually takes some sort of strength to be like that. I was already pissed at the MC for being dishonest about his feelings of wanting a monogamous relationship, but I get it, he was raised that way blah blah

I drew the line tho at him being incredibly s*upid and obtuse. I kept waiting for him to show off a back bone or to snap out of it when the life of his baby was on the line but dayum I never got the satisfaction I wanted.

Edit: ended up finishing the whole thing. Still didn't make me want to increase my rating. <<less

3.5/5. Really enjoyed the novel until about ch 45. The MC is such a fxxking idiot, really unbearably s*upid. He's kind to the point that's it's just plain foolishness. I really don't understand his love for his og kingdom, I get he doesn't want people to die but still... The ML is great, his love for the MC is really strong, sometimes he's a bit too h**ny. I wish the MC was more like Xia Chun, wish he was more intelligent. I saw the weak to strong tag and thought... more>> it was related to the MC but it's the ML.
