The Legitimate Daughter Doesn’t Care!

There was a big scandal in the Mu family.

The real daughter of the Mu family was switched by the nanny since she was a child. The Mu family didn’t bring her back from countryside until 17 years later!

After the true daughter returned – There was no affection, only sympathy.

The Mu family parents asked her, “We have a deep relationship with Yaoyao. We can’t let her lose face. We can only announce you as an adopted daughter to the outside world. You won’t blame us, right?”

Her fiancé also said: “My fiancée can only be Yaoyao! Get out of here country bumpkin.”

The attitude of her older brother Mu Qingyi was even more complicated.

Yet despite all that, the real daughter, Xu Xinduo, said indifferently, “It doesn’t matter.”

***

From a young age Xu Xinduo could swap bodies with a certain teenager. That teenager would always exclaim in an annoyed tone, “Let’s switch bodies, I just don’t feel like taking piano lessons.”

Xu Xinduo helped the teenager to win various trophies, become a top student and honed his noble temperament and talent after taking over his body.

***

At a banquet, everyone in the Mu family watched as a rich young master strode towards Xu Xinduo and said, “Be my girlfriend, although you are from a small family… you are very beautiful.”

With a smile Xu Xinduo replied, “I’m starting to miss my parents already.”

Such a quick change of attitude?!

The romantic story of the indifferent real daughter x a filthy rich despotic young master

Note: Here “switching bodies” means swapping of souls. It’s temporary and doesn’t involve any physical changes.

At first it's likeable, I can enjoy MC and ML keep swapping and how MC struggle with her family. I expect some face slap or something, in the end I feel it's just like that. All villain will get their own retribution a forced one without MC doing anything.

MC who supposed to be cold gradually become kind and forgiving easily. When she said can't get along as family now, I expect it will be at least 2-3 years, turns out 2-3 chapters....

Third disappointment is the swapping, I thought it would... more>> be a highlight in the story. But it only showed on early story then seems like forgotten and suddenly at the end author adding it again.

So far it's passable if you don't have anything else to read. <<less

The novel's good, although there are some loopholes but nonetheless a good read. Novel has your typical scheming sister with an idiot fiancee. What I like here is the MC's character and ML's gang group.

Also hoping that MC's brother treats her well.

Thanks for translating this novel!

Really don't know how to describe this novel. Obviously the body switch aspect already makes it not grounded but there's a charm to it.

Both of the MCs are charming although the ML doesn't appear most in the beginning. It's slow, sweet, and good to savour.

This book is just everything! The leads are so in sync and work so well together and it has so many fluffy moments. The MC is Xu Xindou is super smart and well rounded - she’s the abandoned legitimate daughter who’s real parents don’t want her. She knows how to face slap as well as cherish those she cares about. The ML is Tong Yan and he is so cute it makes you want to swoon hehe. I though I was not going to like the body swap aspect but... more>> it just adds a bit more spice to the story that is otherwise nothing crazy unique but has a really nice warmth to it. The romance is so delicious! You will definitely be eating it up. Tong Yan is the one who often needs to be consoled by the MC and their interactions will have you squealing.

Great balance of drama and humour, I MLT’d most of the book and it is super easy to follow and the humour translates well. No crazy misunderstandings either yay!

You won’t regret the read! <<less

This looks to be a treasure! Interesting plot with body switch between the MC and ML that can be controlled at their own volition.

MC is pretty cool with never care attitude. She matches well with the MC who has fiery personality. They are like hot and cold. Pretty well matched. :)

The relationship between the two is so funny and one of the sweetest I have ever read. He switches bodies to help her deal with the pain of her period or when she is sick. He treats her so wonderful. The body switching made me laugh several times. I love this story, Thank you for the translation!

I really liked the first few chapters and couldn't stop reading because 'a secret that only the two of us knows' is sooo interesting, but it quickly fell as the chapters progressed. The body switch disappeared quite quickly which is a bum. I liked the face-slapping though.

The gradual relationship between the main CP is, well. Good, and OK. Not that interesting actually. As the story goes, it gave the feel of 'oh, its that kind of cliched novel' instead of the first feel 'of, I know this is going to... more>> be different!'. SO while, a good premise, it fell through quite quickly, but of course still better than most t of those overflowy cliche novels. <<less

Fk Xu xinduo and Tong Yan. I want a novel if Tong Yan's parent's love story. They r so cute. FL is a typical Golden Finger protagonist, good at everything, and lucky at every corner. But truthfully I didn't particularly appreciate how the author blackened Mu Qingyao. She is a B*tch but she just went red without a trigger, and some triggers weren't even that great.

Have you ever read those transmigration/rebirth novels where the blackened cannon fodder suddenly gets reborn and realize they r the cannon fodders who got unreasonably... more>> blacked in some novels and decided to turn their life around? And they realize they don't have a gold finger like the protagonist. For me, this novel is like that novel we never get to read in the novels with the cannon fodder turned protagonist transmigration/rebirth novels. (If u get what I mean).

I kind of sympathize with Mu Qingyao. <<less

What I like the most is how the novel mentioned the difficulty of switching bodies with different genders.

Like morning wood, different range of fingers reach when playing piano, menstrual pad ML had to change, etc

They can swap since they're kids they don't feel awkward naked in other's body.

... more>> If you only read the first few chapters you'd be mad at ML but FL also gets benefits too if you read more. You can't judge the novel if you only read few.

Also there are some realistic aspects about ML character, although they switch bodies it doesn't mean that they can completely understand each other.

Spoiler

Maybe to ML going into FL's body when she was poor is similar to camping in a mountain. An interesting experience but he wouldn't be able to fully understand true hardships FL had. At least he knew to some extent.

[collapse]

Relationship between each characters are very unique especially ML's parents.

The fake daughter isn't good and unreasonable probably influenced by dad. But her ending was actually surprising because she was actually quite rational on some parts oddly enough.

Other characters also have interesting growths in which keep the story interesting. They have their own circumstances and opinions.

I like how author portray things from perspective of 3 parties about conflict in FL's family:

1. The one who apologizes and

2. The one who receives apology.

3. The third party who watches it unfolds.

The FL family is complicated but not all of them are bad. From the third party's point of view, the one who apologize are also victims. But if one apologizes the receiver of this apology is not obligated to forgive. Wounds take time to heal, and sometimes it wouldn't heal and reopened instead. What's the point of apology if the receiver is forced to forgive? Thankfully people have brains so they're quite reasonable.

Some are probably confused with names:
Spoiler

Liu Yating (ML childhood friend)

Li Xinning so (a b*tch), and

Lu Renjia (she was out of the competition early after the birthday party)

They liked ML but I was surprised to see someone doesn't like this childhood friend despite the fact that she nvr hurt anyone so I figured that there's some misunderstanding between readers. It was also hard for me to keep tabs on who is who.

Liu Yating the childhood friend has fiery temper but she never schemed and was honest. And there was actually plot twist at the end of the day.

Li Xinning is a greentea bit*h fighting with the fake daughter and likes to spread her net of fishpond. (She kept men)

Lu Rujia liked ML but her appearances was short and didn't appear anymore because she was pushed out of the advanced class (top 50)

Then there's ML's friends both have "Wei" in their names.

[collapse]

About the class system

Spoiler

International class is another different category as the lessons aren't the same as others because they're for students to exchange abroad.

The difficulty is more or less like advanced class but the Chinese subject is different. And all of internasional class teachers are foreigners so everything are taught in English.

[collapse]

Though it's true that ML is grumpy but they get along pretty well. ML is probably better than his dad.... Maybe. Well, the ending is good and ML takes care of FL very well when she isn't feeling great. Their interaction is adorable and fresh like normal couple, not perfect but sweet. <<less

Trigger warning: Domestic abuse and violence, mention of suicidal thoughts and attempts
Spoiler

Domestic abuse and violence are frequent features not only in MC's life but also in some side characters. The struggle with suicidal thoughts and attempts happens in the side character's family.

[collapse]

The novel itself is a tad too Mary Sue and follows most tropes.
>Swapped at birth
>Legitimate daughter coming back home to a toxic dysfunctional family
>Fake daughter cannon-fodder butting heads with MC
>Richest, best looking, over-protective ML
>MC is trying to establish her own footing in the upper social world as a jack, but also, an ace of all trades

Tropes aside, it's a fun read when it comes to the main couple's antics but sweet potato alert when it comes to the family relationship.
It's quite enjoyable so far to see MC flourishing and ML growing as a person.
The flow of the story was natural until the ladder half. Plot progression was too aligned with plot conveniences instead of weaving it in more naturally.
Spoiler

How a side character finds out about their bodyswap at the right time and place, how a very short-term modeling contract (1yr) of MC to earn money for her part-time job with the no romantic relationship clause hinders her from confessing, it's has been ridiculously drawn out (booo, stalling!).

[collapse]

If it didn't stick too hardcore to the tropes, it would've been much better IMO.
The cons of the novel are how it is almost like a novel setting fit for a transmigrator or cannon-fodder regressor. (Spoiler sections rant/analysis will be long, sorry in advance.)

The cannon fodder, though with all her character flaws, was also a victim and product of her upbringing.
Spoiler

She is narrow-minded and primarily insecure because of how the love of her caregivers comes with a price tag.

It was always something she had to fight over. If they'd been more of a normal family, I doubt she'd been this rattled at MC's appearance in her life. She was far gone enough to be willing to sacrifice the rest of her life to marry someone for business relations and delude herself that she loves the douchebag they set her up with.
It's quite realistic and childlike of her to push all the blame on the seemingly easiest target, which I can give the novel props for until her cannon fodder role became too forceful.

I hated to see how she put elbow grease into whatever the parents expected her to achieve and accomplish, but just to get indirectly stomped all over and upstaged by the protagonist (School Score Ranking & Piano Competition Arc). She will be always a few steps behind the good guys, never failing or underperforming, but doomed to be overshadowed.

It is also unpleasant to see both author's narrative and others characters compare her to the real twin sister in looks, academics, and talents. Talents and academics aside, how the hell is she supposed to compete in appearances...?? She can't help how she was born as. (o*。_。) o
The narrative focuses more on the comparison in which of the sister's likeness is more fitting to be the brother's twin, but from time to time, it'll mention how her looks are indeed inferior to the MC's.

The parents are a lost case, so I won't bother going into details there since they're too self-absorbed and too classic 1-D villains.

Dad's power/fame/money hungry and has strong domestic abusive tendencies. His ego is so overblown, he would easily stomp anybody, including family, underneath him to be the sole one to triumph on the self-made pedestal.
It's easy to tell how strong and far his own insecurities and self-loathing go when he blows his top over having to grovel and brown-nose a more affluent family.

Mom's insecure and pathetic, partially because of her spouse, but hey, she made her own life decisions. Own it.
She chose and settled for a more comfortable lifestyle of suppression and submission than living as her own person.
She settled as being a housewife who's only good at spending money, whereas she could've chosen to pursue a career/hobby or attempt in building up social connections in the meantime.
After seeing parents like that, it's unsurprising for the cannon fodder to prioritize finances over family ties.

The sole ally didn't fall too far from the family tree either. Though somewhat caring and supportive of the main character, he turned his back on his cannon fodder sister real fast.
Instead of communicating or attempting to calm her down, he chose to temporarily run away through an exchange program and only return when things had long derailed. This is where he's similar to his own mother.

He chooses to blame his entire family for being disgusting, yet he's the one who'd turn a blind eye to most of the abuse going on in the family that turned his mother and cannon fodder sister partially like that. I'm not expecting or demanding much from a 16/17-year-old teenager.
Even if he didn't care for the other women living under his family's roof, he could've shown at least that he cared about the real twin sister, which he does.

It reflects again how similar he was to his mother in cowardly stepping back, wallowing in guilt, and giving themselves all kinds of excuses to not approach MC. At least he should've made the effort in approaching her and show some care, yet he didn't.

It didn't even mention him showing up at the hospital when she fainted from pain, which was widespread enough for her friend to rush over in a hurry instantly, but nope, didn't see a glimpse or a shadow of him. Sure, he might've been busy, but not even inquiring afterward? Yeesh.

The affection MC had for him should've been clear, in the short amount of time of them living together, she had given him, and only him, a gift.
When she left, out of all the gifts, it was his that she took with her (taking the water purifier and leaving the clothing like tailor-made dresses behind).
This should've been apparent if he'd only cared enough to bother.

"The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb."

The mother and brother sell the pathetic pity act to curry themselves into MC's life again, I personally, hated it.

More subtle signs of them being a**holes like the mother whining about her own incompetence and shortcomings, dropping one courtesy concern for MC, and doesn't inquire further how she's doing physically or if she's happy, etc. It's really obvious if you compare the main couple's mothers next to each other.
MC is the one who has to mother her own estranged mother while ML's mother is giving her real concern and love while also respecting her space, but wouldn't compromise when it comes to her wellbeing.

Brother basically emotionally blackmails MC to interact with the mother, overselling the mental state and indirectly pointing out she'd watch her mother kill herself if she didn't intervene and act chummy with them again by comparing their mother to the mother of his best friend who has already attempted su*cide by now (who has also pushed another son to su*cide with her antics and is on the brim of pushing her second son/bestie on his way to it too, ironic, if you think of this, can't help feel like the brother might be the worst one here).
The brother is prioritizing his own mother and himself over the sister if it means saving him some trouble from hearing the mother's whining which adds to his emotional baggage.
I see it as forcefully making her accept them with an underhanded method.
The victim doesn't have to compromise for the culprits' mistakes nor does she have to accept them because they put in minimum effort.
Frustratingly, this has also been canonically pointed out by the ML as well.
I can't help but see the worst in the Mu family (parents + brother). Either the perspective given was too little (mother + brother only, the father figure is obv. unrecyclable garbage) or what little was given is not nearly good enough to be worthy of forgiveness/love.
MC is still a teenager who'd like any normal human being yearning for family love, that's her weakness, and that's what Mu mom and brother are targeting.
Even if their gestures come from a good place, it doesn't change the fact that they mainly do it for their own peace of mind and of no true concern for their family member, which should be obvious if you'd simply look at it.

That's grossly overshadowed by the 'fluff' and as someone who is critically analyzing the family dynamics at this point, can't help but glare at it with concern.

[collapse]

The co-dependent relationship of the protagonists isn't the most healthy relationship either. But maybe that's what they need? It was quite a struggle to watch the ML at times when it comes to his willfulness, but he definitely showed character growth for the better over time. Give him a chance.

MVPs are ML's mom YH; and face-con buddy LX.

The face slapping is refreshing, direct, and immediate. If MC decides she had enough, she'll act in retaliation, sometimes directly sometimes schemingly.

And the unrequited love relationship was never too frustrating, even sometimes amusing, to read. Though I have to say, ML's Ouran High School Host Club of Suoh Tamaki level of ignorance was a bit hard to bear.

For those with less patience, ML's awakening comes around
Spoiler

in Chapter 187-188, he finally feels something for MC but it's only around Chapter 278 when they finally make their feelings clear... somewhat.

Main character doesn't care. Its in the title, and proven through her actions she doesn't care about anything. So why is it she is "good" at basically anything. Once or twice, okay I get it. Maybe she just so happened to be talented at them therefore the "uniqueness" of the story would mean she was given the opportunity to learn it and make her talent shine.

Takes less than 43 chapters to find out this is in fact not the case, this "I don't care" is someone who apparently cares about... more>> what others think.
Spoiler

Not sure its a spoiler, yet it is written as if main character has had a rough life as her caretaker was not of great health. Therefore all these "random" things she is good at, that take practice are somehow things she is amazing at. Appears she can swap bodies and stop time to give her all this time to do literally everything in the world amazingly.

[collapse]

A lot of things don't make much sense, many things feel realistic and modern. While at same time many things are brushed over and ignored. As if they're normal that give the reader huge questions and really take away from the enjoyment of the story. Enemies of the protagonist are sometimes disliked, though this story does a good job. Instead of enemies being unlikable they make the story unreadable tr*sh. <<less

Excellent novel. No transmigration but the protagonists can body switch voluntarily. It's a fluffy novel but you have to read several chappies to get to it. The MC is not really unfeeling or uncaring. She's just a little cold because of the treatment of her biological family.

She'll move out but there's no revenge. She won't scheme her family although her family will break apart.

I love the MC and ml. They are one and has deep relationship. Although ML was dense at first. He treats the MC as a brother. My... more>> fave character is ml's mom. She was smart enough to figure out the body swapping and so treated the MC as her own daughter.

Spoiler

The fake daughter is a little pitiful but she kinda deserves it. She went to jail. She kinda went crazy for a moment. I wish her family should have given her some kind of emotional support.

This does take a few chapters to get into. If I hadn't read comments Bout how it gets better, I would have dropped it.

However, I am glad I didn't.

The MC, ML, her grandma, his mum and the group of friends they have are wonderful. They are funny and sweet and have such interesting personalities. Her friend that likes to look at beauties is a delight.

... more>> There is all the typical drama and dog's blood of these stories and the awful blood family troupe, etc.

The gossip and focus on her at school makes sense if you consider the way it's set up. The school has students that have been together almost forever. Due to similar family and social situations, they all know eachother. So 1. A new person entering their school is different and shakes things up and 2. Because her position with the family and friends is confusing. She doesn't have a place to fit into and it's not something that she cares about, so it ruffles feathers.

I adore the ML and his relationship with the MC.

I laughed quite a few times. <<less

It's been a good read so far. Although Tong Yan (ML) acts very childish sometimes, I liked how he and his mom cared about Xu Xinduo (MC). Not only that, Xu Xinduo won multiple competitions in her own body and is getting recognized for her skills. Tong Yan is also supporting her.

Spoiler

Her brother is also trying his best to make up with her.

The story's kinda all over the place. In one chapter they're skateboarding and then the next chapter they're eating at a revolving restaurant and then they went to the nursing home when I thought the MC woupd be going back home to deal with the evil grandma. The time wasn't specified so it's a very confusing read even in its translated form. I only kept reading because I like the trope.

Extremely funny! All of the characters are very well rounded, though the main villain, the MC's adopted sister is a bit two dimensional. I think the author does a good balance of keeping the story moving without it moving too fast.

For those confused by the intro, the MC was switched at birth and raised by her poor grandma (who doesn't know she isn't actually her grandkid) in the countryside. However, she's got a special connection with a rich young boy of the same age and has been involuntary and voluntarily... more>> switching bodies with him since they were seven which is why she's very well educated despite being from a rural area and the two of them are very good friends.

The reason she's indifferent to her birth family is because she loves her adopted grandma who raised her and just wants to get a good education to succeed in life and take care of her. Her birth family has their own motivations, which vary by person.

I liked this novel because the ML has a good family that is nice to the MC (so far) and he genuinely cares about the MC even before he realizes he likes her romantically. <<less

Actually really awesome novel.

MC seems indifferent but actually she cares a lot but is just kinda resigned and doesn't want to fight with her family.

Also the relationship isn't really that one-sided. MC helps ML a lot but ML provides MC protection too and MC totally benefitted from the body switching in terms of exposure to lessons only the super wealthy would arrange for their children and like ML is honestly really good for the MC. He really cares for her and its a pretty cute relationship.

Although wish MC would just... more>> pull out her piano skills and slap the b*tchy adopted sister and control freak of a father in the face. <<less

I was put off by the negative reviews for a long time, but so glad I finally gave it a try! The story is adorable and I love both the main characters- also to everyone complaining about the ML getting the credit for the piano competitions, you weren't paying attention. The story clearly says that he just asked her to take a few piano lessons and SHE did so well he had to compete 😂. Also, in the most recent competition at one point is says that she wanted to... more>> compete but "didn't think it would be believable in her own body." So the situation is more nuanced than some reviews made it seem.

EDIT: after MTL'ing ahead, who ACTUALLY wants to compete is stated even more explicitly. It's more like she has been taking advantage of him 😂 <<less
