There was a big scandal in the Mu family.

The real daughter of the Mu family was switched by the nanny since she was a child. The Mu family didn’t bring her back from countryside until 17 years later!

After the true daughter returned – There was no affection, only sympathy.

The Mu family parents asked her, “We have a deep relationship with Yaoyao. We can’t let her lose face. We can only announce you as an adopted daughter to the outside world. You won’t blame us, right?”

Her fiancé also said: “My fiancée can only be Yaoyao! Get out of here country bumpkin.”

The attitude of her older brother Mu Qingyi was even more complicated.

Yet despite all that, the real daughter, Xu Xinduo, said indifferently, “It doesn’t matter.”

***

From a young age Xu Xinduo could swap bodies with a certain teenager. That teenager would always exclaim in an annoyed tone, “Let’s switch bodies, I just don’t feel like taking piano lessons.”

Xu Xinduo helped the teenager to win various trophies, become a top student and honed his noble temperament and talent after taking over his body.

***

At a banquet, everyone in the Mu family watched as a rich young master strode towards Xu Xinduo and said, “Be my girlfriend, although you are from a small family… you are very beautiful.”

With a smile Xu Xinduo replied, “I’m starting to miss my parents already.”

Such a quick change of attitude?!

The romantic story of the indifferent real daughter x a filthy rich despotic young master

Note: Here “switching bodies” means swapping of souls. It’s temporary and doesn’t involve any physical changes.

I believe this is how teen love should be written. I just wanna fangirl on both the ML and FL!!! ML is the ideal boyfriend uwu. He takes care of FL very very well since he also knows the body conditions of the FL. He might have a vulgar mouth and is very arrogant, but he is a kind, soft boi on the inside. He was pretty dense at the beginning so when he realized his feelings for FL, he ended up being causing a minor drama between the two... more>> of them lol.

FL is just great. She does come across as a Mary Sue character but she definitely isn't. A lot of her excellent skills were skills that she worked hard to learn prior to the novel's beginning. She seems quite cold and indifferent, and also very lazy in dealing against people who hate her. In reality, she is just someone who grew up in a difficult environment and interchanging with ML was the only reason why she was able to learn a lot of things. I felt so sad for her and I just want to protect her :< Thank God, FL can protect herself and she even loves protecting ML too.

The relationship between the two came about pretty naturally. A lot of the conflict was due to the FL's inferiority to ML and her not wanting to be completely dependent to a man like her useless mother. ML also just wanted to hold her and raise her but later on decided to respect her decision.

And can I just talk about how realistic it is that ML's mom and FL's grandma was able to recognize that FL/ML was sort of their other son/granddaughter and spoiled both of them lol. That's how moms and grandmas in novels should be!!!

Also, what I really liked about this novel, aside from the main and supporting characters, is that some of the FL's family members had their own redemption.
Spoiler

From the very beginning, FL's twin brother was on her side and wanted to help her in anyway that he could but he was powerless to do anything so he let her leave the house. FL's mother also felt guilty for not being able to raise FL and that FL suffered hardships when growing up so she divorced her husband (which was difficult since she really was like a dodder flower wife) and decided to be independent for her children. FL wasn't really used to it at first but she gradually warmed up to them. FL's dad deserved his end of being alone since he seems to never really love any of his family except for some remaining affection for his ex-wife. I even felt sad for the fake daughter since she only realized in the end that she had no reason to hate FL at all and that FL really never schemed against her. I'm glad she sort of redeemed herself by not stabbing the ML and FL and voluntarily giving herself up to the police.

I'm surprised I haven't wrote a review yet since it's been a while since I started reading this.

Right of the bat, the chemistry between the MC and ML is amazing. They are so in sync and there's no frustrating misunderstanding because they are both straightforward. The concept of the novel is nothing new but it's the interaction between the two leads coupled with the people around them (from the classmates, to the family, staff, etc) that makes this a worthy read.

I don't really like leaving reviews but I think I should at least do this much for this novel.

This is one of the best novels I have read.

MC and ML have good chemistry. Both aren't perfect and have their own shortcoming.

MC's family (except brother) is quite bad.

Anyway, it's worth reading.

This is a sweet novel.

It might not compare with the best novels in terms of writing or plot, but it's a fresh read.

I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy read and a good time.

Objectively, its not exactly realistic, the MCs are amazingly perfect yet nonchalant people and the "villains" are basically all 2-D punching bags lol. Characters the author wants you to hate will make super dumb decisions while characters on the MC and ML's side are able to come to surprisingly smart realizations.

Spoiler

how did the grandma guess the body switching secret the first time that she and the ML actually talks?? Normally ppl would think that its a split personality disorder or something. Also the brother bringing the water tank for the FL's constitution.

[collapse]

Still, it manages to be somehow kinda enjoyable despite the overload of cannon fodder. Relationship between the FL and ML is nice ig. Writing isnt very detailed though and is sometimes hard to follow <<less

ML was a top tier ML, really doted on his woman and even taking her place and swapping bodies when she's having a bad period, or even in the epiloge when she's giving birth.

ML himself said it in the novel and it's kinda true, If MC was the male in the relationship he'd be kind of a scumbag, but he cant help but dote on her.

overall a cute novel, and pretty good read and only barely missed the perfect 5/5 score for me, this one is more like a 4.4... more>> rounded down rather than a 3.5 rounded up. <<less

Really like the MC and ml.

Don't know why people hate the ML for stealing mc's achievements. ML doesn't steal any substantial achievements from MC. ML is good at studying atleast in international couse and he is pretty good at piano. And in the end, he actually doesn't want to go to piano competition (the price and achievement is practically useless for him as a future businessman) but goes just for MC.

ML is very lazy and only work hard when it's for MC. And he care more about his experience... more>> in village than any piano competition.

The only problem I have with is mc's mother. I understand when MC forgives her but I really hate that MC treats her like a mother

Spoiler
  • She didn't do anything for MC other than crying when MC was in mu's house. Like never care about her health or give her gifts. She didn't even give her birthday present. I know she's a Coward but she didn't even talk to MC. They are practically strangers
  • And she have the nerve to ask MC to stay with her! Like she suddenly can't live without MC. And even tried to hug her, even though she never did anything like that when MC was in her family
  • Finally she literally abandoned her daughter (adopted) because she disappointed her. Like she left her her daughter in the care of the abusive father even though it was the daughter's decision. Like how she can even blame the girl for snapping. Will she abandon the MC in the future because she "disappointed" her? Thankfully the MC has a great mother who care about mc
  • I think MC too soft hearted for letting mother in to her life. She hadn't done any bad things but she is too fickle about her care and abandoned her daughter that lived 17 years with her for s*upid reasons. MC has to take care of her even though they are practically strangers and she never done not even a small good thing for the MC when she could

I think the best part of the story was the setting. Like in "Your Name" the main characters easily swap bodies.

The author was very logical about it as well and so the MC wasn't gendered into different types of activities (for example, she was good at fighting and riding motorcycles, etc.) which made the MC pretty fun to read about.

Overall the worldbuilding / logic for the body swap was done very well. The ML also wasn't your typical ice-cold / aloof / arrogant / CEO type. Instead he was more... more>> of a bad-boy / fighter and would whine a lot in private with the MC which was super cute and gave his character a lot more dimension.

Spoiler

Also the MC is portrayed as more mature than the ML which is actually pretty accurate to real life. Especially the pampered young master ML who wasn't used to suffering or enduring things. When he easily felt discouraged and gave up some things early, very realistic!

[collapse]

I would say the first half of the story is definitely worth reading, but a lot of momentum was lost in the later parts.

Plot was overall predictable, but the relationship growth and transition was fun. The side-characters were cute as well, though I wished there was less about the MC's family.

Spoiler

they were super hardcore pieces of shit, to be honest, I thought the way the author wrote them was a bit fantastical to the extreme, especially the ending with the stabbing that came out of the blue

[collapse]

One of the side-characters dealing with depression was lightly (but not s*upidly) touched upon. For me at least, his story was very relatable and it gave a lot more depth to the novel to have characters like that going through tough decisions.

Translation was okay. It was pretty good at first, but not as good near the end, I am pretty sure I caught multiple weird MTL-like phrases that shouldn't have passed editing. <<less

General: 8/10

A good story overall. A bit of revenge, forgiving, sweet and cute moments. Nothing too special, yet an enjoyable read (minus the alternative story in the epilogue).

Translation: 9/10

... more>> Plot:

+ switched at birth and depised by biological parents get's her own life straight

+ a bit of face-slapping (satisfactory, not bloody)

+ supernatural trope of body switching and related funny situations

+ really good ML. A nice and caring guy, not spoiled by his rich family

+ ML's mom who is smart and caring

+ FL and ML's friends are a good bunch

+ family reunion and working to repair the mistakes made (biological mom and brother are actually ok)

+/- epilogue (only liked last chapters, not the beginning of the epilogue)

+/- they are all really pretty and many people are written to pay attention to looks

+/- no bloody drama

+/- a good read, although not the best (some parts are a must-read while some are "nah, fine" <<less

The premise of this story was interesting, but I just couldn't handle the characters 1/4 of the way through.

Perhaps I've read too many novels with the "switched at birth" trope, but this novel creates an especially unpleasant MC. I guess because she has routinely switched places with the ML throughout her life, she handles her problems in a very stereotypical male-cancer kind of way. She is stoic and un-communicative about what she actually wants or feels. She tells everyone she doesn't care or doesn't want something but then quietly throws... more>> people away when they don't realize she actually does care and does want something. I don't particularly like the dad, but he is right - they've been trying to treat her as well as they can, why doesn't she try to understand their situation? What do they actually owe her? It's the person who switched her that owes her, but somehow she seems to get more disgusted by her biological family than the maid. What's wrong with trying to promote a consensual relationship that could benefit the family business? What's wrong with not arranging a private driver immediately? What's wrong with trying to have a conversion during dinner? I was quite baffled by these secret scores that the MC seemed to be calculating. The author tries to portray her as forced into reciprocating her family's indifference, but her brother and mother seem to actually care for her. Or at least try to care for her. It's sort of hard to do that though when the person they're trying to interact with has already scored them and found them lacking.

Then, the MC mentions wanting to not owe too much and be on equal footing with the ml, but she was never in equal footing. Everything impressive about her is because switching bodies gave her an opportunity to learn through his resources. He regularly helps her out, and she regularly contributes her diligence to burnishing his image. Before she was accepted into her biological family, she had no hope of actually living in his circle without his help. After being taken back home, she at least is in his same school, but still doesn't have the same freedom as he does.

I also think this story's focus on superficial things like appearances, money, and status was over-the-top in a boring way. Intelligence isn't really a quality that anyone values or possesses in this story.

Anyways, the translations are fine, but I just couldn't finish this story. <<less

I really tried my best to not mind the dog-drama aspect of this novel, but after the so-called "44 chapters" (I just wished the real chapters weren't split up so many times) I just couldn't take it. I lose my sanity (and IQ) anytime Xu Xinduo is being gossiped over. It was so disgusting to read how much the people in that school obsesses over status and wealth. It's like they have nothing else to do but to continuously monitor what one person does in their day-today, criticizing every minute... more>> actions and flaws. Not to mention, a lot of the things (like the fact that you're from the country-side or that you're adopted) is so overly exaggerated. It's so frustrating to not find a rational character besides the main leads.

This aspect of the drama really ruins the mood. It's incredibly disappointing as the romance-plot had a lot of potential as Xu Xinduo and Tong Yan had a good set-up (swapping bodies, childhood friends, etc.) I found them cute and the interactions between them as sweet.

... but the gossiping? even the MC's friend, Luo Xu (or smth?) seemed so "sincere" but so shallow and cold in my opinion. There's nothing wrong with liking pretty things, but if you ONLY like pretty things, then you fall short on a lot of things. But, that's just my opinion so far. After all, I've only read up to the 44th chapter.

There's too many guys pursuing over the MC, which is expected of an overly exaggerated "beautiful" MC. But, there really is too much of them ;;Q;; that I can't keep up with all the names being thrown around on top of the gossiping.

The pretty privilege is strong on this one. I might reread one day, but only when I'm desperate. Regardless, I give thanks to the translators. <<less

Honestly I loved the fact that the FL liked the ML first or at least recognized her feelings for what they were first. It was very realistic because women do mature faster emotionally. I also loved the ML despite the fact that he was immature. I tend to not like immature MLs but this one was just too cute. I also liked the ML female friend who liked the ML (but actually she liked the FL when she took over the ML's body.) The whole situation was just too good.

The title of the story, implying that she doesn't care, simply isn't true. She just doesn't want to be hurt.

It's very stereotypical in some ways, but refreshing in others. Smol rant:

Spoiler

I think the author has a very skewed view of how rich people acts. Sometimes I see what they say, and I'm like "ah, this is what a prejudiced person would think." It's as if they become s*upid and clueless as long as money is involved, when the truth is they should be more educated and aware when it comes to money management than a commoner. People also don't always think "the more expensive, the better", like a fool.

The MC is very Mary Sue, which isn't too uncommon, but I don't understand how she can beat people in for example tennis, when they literally do it every day and she's just done it now and then. It's in so many subjects that I don't understand how it makes any sense. In sports you have to exercise certain muscles too over and over, so even if you have the knowledge it should still be hard.

[collapse]

As for the positives, I really like the backstory. Even though I normally avoid soul switching stories, I could bear with it and it's entertaining at times. Tong Yan (the ML) and her grandmother have been the MC's only support growing up. She had a harsh life and I think she's downplaying it a lot. It's really nice to see her come out of her shell and become more confident.

While her blood related Mu family are full of your typical scum, I'm glad and surprised there's one person who actually cares for her. Her brother slowly turned into becoming my favorite character. He's affectionate, but starts out so awkward in showing it that it's just not too obvious yet.

I wish you could follow Xu Xinduo when she's in Tong Yan's body, and not just the other way around. I really want to see her act more boyish. They are so close and personal about each other bodies too, it really makes me laugh sometimes. Tong Yan texts her saying stuff like "hey, your period is coming in 2 days." and she's complaining about things like "why won't your little guy lie down after half a day?!"

Anyway, it's an enjoyable way of passing time. <<less

4 stars it's a good read with some problems.

Before anything else the synopsis is misleading. The story focus is the romance not the family infighting. While the family problems are there they are at most 10 to fifteen percent of the story. The MC is also pretty damn well pissed about her family situation.

A better way to view this story is an ugly duckling that's a hidden swan. From that perspective it's a good take on the the genre with some notable problems. The writing in the earlier chapters is... more>> a bit painful to deal with. The plot events rely far too much on authorial fist, and don't seem organic. The side characters go from zero to insane without much development. What's more their actions have no feeling of impact on the story. Finally the ending is unsatisfying. The feeling is that the author lost interest <<less

Oof. I’m only doing this for the bonus chapter, but here goes.

I love this novel. The ML and FL are truly a match. They didn’t just get together because of their connection, although it definitely helped.

The FL is a badass, but not the annoying type that snaps back at every dumb comment or has bad manners just because. However, when she takes a stand, it’s so reasonable, easy to understand, concise, unique... I could go on. She could literally run me over.

The ML has a temper, but in the cute... more>> angry puppy way. Well... it’s intimidating in the novel, but I find it adorable. “Go get your girl!”

There’s no huge imbalance of power in the relationship. FL’s brother is heartbreaking, but I try not to feel bad for him.

5/5, totally recommend. <<less

I really love this book. The FL is very strong. I love her attitude she is very indifferent to things she doesn't care about. Especially her so called family though she yearned for a loving family like the ML's she doesn't let that get her down.

pros:

  • Characters are well-written
  • She's not sympathetic to her tr*sh family, but she's not that stone cold either. She forgives when appropriate.
  • Male lead is very caring and female lead is very straightforward with others when asked who is more important to her.
  • Their friends are adorable and definitely a good support system.
Cons:

  • The relationship of the female lead and her twin should have been explored more. It's a waste of what could have been a cuter story.
  • I'm kinda disappointed that she chose modeling as a career. I get that she lacks money, but girl? Idk with all the talent she has, the author could have tought of a more original career.
    Spoiler

although maybe the author did that so the 1 year dating ban can be imposed, but still, I'm disappointed.
