What do you do when you wake up and find yourself inside the very game that you love?

What do you do when you realize you that you have not only become an NPC – you have even been thrown back in time to before the game even launched!

What will happen when our protagonist’s two realities coincide?

Han Xiao was a professional power leveler before his transmigration. Using his past life’s knowledge, Han Xiao sweeps through the universe as he prepares for the arrival of the players. This is definitely not your typical transmigration novel.

TL:DR - Below mediocre, great if you love evil MC or knowing what's going to happen before it happens.

The Legendary Mechanic wants, desperately, at the beginning to paint itself as a 'new' 'different' stuck in a game universe with that wacky twist at the end. The problem is, the author didn't really write 90% of the novel to account for the ending, but that's ok! The author plot armors everything in this book to prevent everyone from realizing how awful, sadistic and evil Han Xiao is. Because he is. If... more>> you knew someone who constantly acted like Han Xiao, you wouldn't interact with him. But that's ok! Everything he does is swept under the rug, because no one dies from the awful sh*t he does. So what if he modified a piece of armor that prevents you from repairing it in the future then he leaves two seconds later. I'm sure that won't end up in your team getting merc'd if you were in real life and death situations and needed to repair that in the field. And Nero, dear god Nero; Han Xiao would end up being arrested 25 times for what he did to Nero. What happened with Nero is how you hear on the news about how a child snapped and wiped out their whole family one calm weekend.

The book very much wants to merge the beginning premise with the end premise and say "Sure, this works perfectly fine" but it can't. You either have the beginning premise or the end premise, you can't have both. The beginning premise fills most of the book and allows things to happen logically and justifies plot armor. The end premise disproves the beginning premise which means the author wrote the plot armor to make everything else run on rails to the end, which is absolutely jarring when you finally get towards the end and unmask that 'crazy' twist. If you want to say both can be right, I would say that all of plot armor of random people not constantly getting slaughtered due to Han Xiao's actions would be equal to winning the rarest lottery jackpot EVERY SINGLE TIME you bought a ticket. Can it happen? Sure, but I don't know if we have a computer powerful enough to calculate those odds.

The book premise makes it easy to justify Han Xiao, but nothing justifies the plot armor of the characters around Han Xiao which becomes just as hard to stomach as if Han Xiao himself always magically escaped death at the last second by pure luck. Is there lots to love about the book? Sure, but also a lot of promises go unfulfilled as well. <<less

I loved reading this novel. Praise the Great Mechanic Han!

It was a great novel, and although the ending was a tad abrupt, it made sense for where the MC and overall direction of the story were. It's a shame some strings were never wrapped up but were minor and had no relevance to the ending. Overall 4/5 it was fun as hell reading this novel.

Story and worldbuilding are not bad.

But the MC is shallow and contradictioning himself everywhere.

Also while he seems smart that is only because the people turn dumb when he makes a plot or something.

... more>> Writing is passable, plot is good.

The biggest flaw is the terrible MC.

Some people say some readers are giving 1 stars because MC is not mental enough or not h**ny enough. But I say the story lost 1 star because he is too mental. I mean he just went and killed an entire group of young woman smiling like a madman screaming exp, exp, exp hahahahaha.

But then the game is also unbalanced as hell. Skills and tech tree is tr*shed up.

It is either a horrible game or a tr*shed up world.

Despite having the potential to be strongest he is always struggling with fights because despite saying he is prepared for everything he is always weaker and not prepared for what the opponent does for some reason.

Also some player were stuck in labs for months getting sliced still being lvl 1. How has this game not crashed?

Would anyone here log in a game for months everyday getting you organs harvested then getting brainwashed over and over and over. <<less

Overall I'd say it's a fairly good novel that would appeal to people who like level up based novels. I'd probably rate it at around 3.5/5 but rounded it up to 4. However there are a few flaws I'll point out.

Firstly I think the game terminology with the MC as an NPC doesn't really work that well. When reading the novel it feels like the players are NPCs. Basically the existence of players is just used to farm XP and justified to give the MC knowledge of future plot points.... more>> Since their level cap is well below the MC's they basically end up being pretty much irrelevant to the plot so the whole aspect is at odds with the rest of the plot.

Secondly this novel also suffers from Chinese Nationalism syndrome that manifests itself during the player interactions. This means that the Chinese players/teams always have to win and any evil acts are always done by foreigners. This is used to justify that China is the best despite the fact that only reason Chinese teams win is cause the MC gives them cheat items.

After a while I basically skipped most of the plot involving players for the above reasons. <<less

A legendary novel. Without spoiling too much, it starts of as our protagonist, Han Xiao wakes up as a no-name lab rat (Human experiment) from a very popular VR game he used to play called Galaxy. He used to be a pro player at the game before transmigrating. He has the same system that he used to have in-game and also sees that the actual game will launch after some time. So he is basically in the beta version of the game.
Spoiler

In the future, players from the real world come to play the game and our protagonist is a NPC with the payers system.

[collapse]
explores various elements of the game world that he didn't know existed when he used to play as a player and realizes that the game has a lot more to it than what he knows. The butterfly effects caused by his actions are also very well thought out.

I really liked the story but at some point in reading it just cl**ked, that this is now boring. This point was when the pro player competition started. I really enjoy leveling aspects and getting stronger, but at the pro competition I realized that I would not be getting any of that—since he basically gets billions of xp. It removed the entire slow grind for levels, grinding for skills, and getting xp at all. At least he cant instantaneously advance, but its just going to be him getting max then... more>> having to complete some difficult advance task.

Another reason was that the whole mechanic theme was basically gone, in the beginning of the story it goes through all the process and information of him making things, and displaying how he is gaining all this knowledge and applying it in real time; however, at this point in the story it seems to just be “Ahh, I have all the prerequisites... 7 days later the machine is built” or “Now he can enhance all his machines” Like there is no elaboration, isnt this a story about the legendary mechanic? Why not show the mechanic process and more?

Anyways, apparently if you get past this point in the story it all gets better and resolved—thats what they always say—but I cant hold on that long 😴 <<less

1: Evans and Karlot. They wboth recruted and trained from ordinary person to beyond grade As, it took more than 400 chapters of training and they don't even have that much screen time once their training is finished, even more so for Evans since Esgod is the same as him but better.

2:MC's daughter and Ames. Ames was the first to think that MC was reprodution material but it still took her something like 1000 to get on with having a child (they had 'normal' s*x in between, if destroying passing by planets counts as normal, of course we don't have the s*x scenes, just the destruction scenes.)

3:The ending. This ending where MC get all emotional and says "my hometown, I'm back.." was a bit disappointing honestly. Personally I think an ending in the sanctum would have made much more sense, something like: On the sanctum's light curtain MC writes "Civilizations of the past, civilizations of the future, the Information Strpping Plan was a success we survived the Great Reboot and entered the following Iteration. However, the Information Strpping Plan isn't a definitive solution, only a temporary one, we must strive foward to find a definitive solution."

Never thought a mechanic class would be so interesting and powerful. Really enjoyed following Han Xiao as he levelled up in this mysterious world. Ending felt abrupt but at least it wasn't bad. Definitely worth the read. 4.5 Stars

This is basically a cultivation novel with sci-fi background lol atleast the pattern seems like it, yet it did better than many other cultivation novels I've read so far, there were no power imbalances and progression of MC's power is fairly reasonable, story pacing is good, no annoying forced plots, fun MC, no rushed endings and ending itself is also pretty good.

Romance is as small as the female lead's chest (sorry Ames)... Though there are subtle hints here and there about romantic subplots it's still very subtle to the point... more>> where some might not even notice them.

Overall if I had to give an alternative name for this novel I'd call it "The Legendary Leak Farmer"... If you read to the end you'd know that this name is more suitable for this novel lol. <<less

5/5 love it!

Tbh I didn't know how I made it through 1000+ chapter. There is nothing absolutely special but it hook me up that I can't drop it.

I keep reading it without noticing how far I have been.

... more>> - it's entertaining due to the MC. It has a comedy vibes in it since the MC is pretty fun of a person himself.

- there's no romance tho. I mean, the MC isn't in love with anyone yet, but I may or may not think that this one girl from Germinal like her.

- MC is on his path to become strong so that no one can threaten him anymore, who wouldn't want to live free from danger and risk right. Plus his main goal is to get him out of the Game, hoping to be able to come back to reality.

- he became a mechanic first of all due to it being his original choice when he played the game before. And also to understand the gameworld and by being a 'virtual' mechanic and find a loophole or way out.

- highly recommended. Let's join him on exploiting new players to get rich and strong XD in a fun way.

This novel is one hell of a journey/adventure.

I quite like it.

Advantages:

  • Lovely storyline. It's exciting and interesting.
  • Character from weak to strong (MC has golden finger 'tho).
  • Good development and world building.
  • Not too much politic (more or less only a general politic; I mean, ordinary people like me can understand xD).
Disadvantages:

  • MC (and any other characters in this novel) doesn't leave much impression on me. The characters building aren't deep enough. From start 'till finish we don't know what MC's thought are. In a simple word, it's all superficial.
  • Plot armor. I don't really mind this, but the use of plot armor here is quite significant because the traces are everywhere.
  • The romance is... blerghh. It's better without romance, really. In my opinion it's more like friends with benefit, but somehow everyone view it as romance, which I don't know why but it's just feel... odd to me.
As for the ending, honestly it can be a little bit more. One or two more chapters are fine.

Spoiler

I mean, what will happen to the players? You can't just cast them aside after using them (harvesting their experiences) ! I really really know what happen. Can they still have the power? Will Earth be like Planet Aquamarine or what???

Overall it's so amazing. Just, the romance really make me irksome and the characters don't really make connection with the reader.

This has become one of my favourite novels. Totally worth finishing it.

A lot of the criticism this novel receives is irrelevant much later in the story, but I'd understand not wanting to commit for so many chapters. Everything else is just thinking too much. Even the MC isn't taking stuff too seriously, why should you?

Of course, it has its flaws. So many characters, so many settings, so much OP, but it's all so memorable. I read this novel over a long time, taking long and short breaks because I couldn't... more>> help but cone back to it. 'Twas all worthwhile, as everything was so beautifully tied up in the end that I felt sad that it was over. <<less

A very enjoyable story with level-headed MC. It's the "transported-into-game" story done right. There's clear plot and characterization, even for side characters. Awesome world building. And the ending is nicely rounded. Love it.

Long story short: Read it. It's good. You can start skipping paragraphs in the later parts and just focus on the dialogue as the info dumps become too long, frequent, and sometimes unnecessary.

There's also excessive Chinese nationalism during the Pro-League but that's to be accepted since the author is Chinese and he probably did that to please the Chinese government or something. Just skip these few chapters and you wouldn't lose anything.

1/5 for choosing Ames in the end. Could've agreed with Hila, Aurora, or even Sylvia but not Ames. I mean I get why she would be the one based on her "contributions" to Han Xiao but I still don't like her.

Scale

That's the single best word for this novel. Every arc builds and expands till you look back and realise how far you've come.

I enjoyed the uniqueness of the mechanic class and INT based build. MC was a pretty generic CN MC but still likable.

Unfortunately the last 500chs were a slog (too much politics). Nationalism was very toned down but still present. No character stood out and it wasnt fun when a girl you enjoyed got left behind.

Would definately recommend but it was not a perfect experience. Essentially a space murim.

TLM follows the MC that has transmigrated backward in time into the game he was playing. The novel has a sci-fi backstory with "Supers" that has power ranging from muscle guy to magic and a technology based galactic community in the background. The novel world is connected with the 'real' world as players do still exist in the story and actually became the source of power for the MC.

Although the background of the story is quite cliche with the MC having future knowledge that gave him an amazing edge, I... more>> have to applaud the author on his amazing pacing. This novel is not short, running at 1400+ chapters, but I didn't get bored for the whole read and keep on reading consistently. The crisis introduction, climax, rewards, and time skip were delivered in a way that managed to keep my interest on the novel properly anchored.

Even so, I'd have to say on how artificial the transition between arcs can feel most of the time. The MC always ended up needing the players as the transition tools and these players pretty much come and go as the author feels. This 'artificial' feeling also impacts the level progression of the MC as most of his "exp points" came from players and it really is up to the author.

The battle in the novel itself is pretty good with power levels between individuals quite clearly determined. It is especially so when it comes from the MC perspectives who had the game interface to read the stats and descriptions. The battle scenes are explosives and quite fun. The author also didn't always solve problem with pure beating, but also incorporates some political maneuvering and smart decisions.

But this thing pretty much stops at personnel levels, when it comes to space battle between fleets, there is no benchmark and the author tend to go by the feels. I really can't tell how strong a galactic fleet is, sometimes it can stop opponents, sometimes not, most of the time the fleets are just there to be the background. It really is rare to find a good space battle novel.

The side characters are there and developed well in the early and middle part of the novel but it kinda fell of in the later part with characters only taking one sentence in the bigger stage. The villains are quite okay, most will be baddies, but some do have political depth. There is no meaningful romance and there is no harem.

Overall, this is an enjoyable novel. It has some drawbacks but the author redeemed it by making sure that the story keeps on rolling in an interesting way. 4 stars <<less
