I wouldn't say perfect rating but wanted to pull the ratings up a bit so 5 it is.

100% DOTING on the MC. If you love doting love interests (and family members), this is absolutely the novel for you.

I actually kept pushing off this novel, which has been in my To Read List for a long time, due to relatively lower ratings. I tend to prioritise reading those with ratings of 4.1 (and above) and only give those below 4.1 ratings a try if the synopsis catches my attention. Unfortunately, this... more>> novel didn't satisfy either of those conditions so I didn't give it a try sooner.

I finally decided to give this novel a try after reading the spin-off of this novel's first arc, 'I'm Not Human'. I really loved the spin-off.

I wish I had read this main novel first before the spin-off but oh well. It's done. Arc 1 here is mostly the same as that in the spin-off but the spin-off is more detailed and cute (LOTS OF DOTINGNESS).

Ok, back to this novel. Although named The King's Game, this whole novel doesn't focus on the 'game' part, as mentioned by another reviewer. The name will be understood if you read till the end. Just know that it has a pretty good plot (super smooth sailing - note that this is not for everyone) and is super cute.

If anyone doesn't find it logical that there's suddenly a system forcing the MC to join this game (which I didn't find logical at first but decided to just accept it as it is due to many novels doing this lol), you also gotta read till the end to understand. There would be reasons for whatever goes on that get revealed later on.

Personally, this novel would have been more enjoyable had there been better translations/edits but I'm still really thankful that there's even an English translation so thank you, translator and editors for your hard work! <<less

I guess I do understand why some people doesn’t like this novel. It IS very smooth sailing, it’s more of a family, pampering, fluffy kinda novel, very different than the usual infinity flow.

but the story itself is not that bad for me tho?? Both MC and ML are op yes, but it doesn’t give you that bad aftertaste...? I don’t know how to explain it exactly... but it has the same vibe as cub raising association.

it was a very good fluffy healing novel with a nicely tied ending.

the antagonist, I think is not resolved very well. When Qiong Qi talked about the fairness of the game, I really felt it. Because it is unfair. No matter the reason, the game was set up and open to anyone yet it is visibly very partial to MC. The reason was explained in the ending, yes, but it only adds to the unfairness. It’s only natural for them to revolt. And even up til the end they receive no compensation, only retribution. Which taste very bad for me. Qiong Qi wanting to kill MC is logical to me because both are players and it wasn’t something that defies the rules. He deserves more explanation.

Stopped for a bit and couldn't get back on it 😫. I LIKED the first arc but the first few chapters on the second arc feels literally like a carbon copy of the first arc and I didn't like it so I paused for a bit and got distracted by other stories lol. I can come back to this, I don't really hate it. Was just surprised by how the concept on the first and second arcs were the same.. Dropping it for now

I normally hate world hopping stories but I made an exception for this one.

I actually first read the spin-off “I’m Not Human” and didn’t realise it was a spin-off until I finished it. If I hadn’t read that I would have kept ignoring this story due to the “world hopping” tag, but since I liked the spin off I decided to give this a read and I loved it.

The summary is completely opposite of the genre it implies, it’s a complete fluff-fest in truth. I’m pleasantly surprised by this fact,... more>> because I initially ran away from this story because of the summary (and also the world hopping setting). <<less

This is a very FLUFFY story.

Not that much action or struggles.

And the plot is interesting. But seriously, this is just CUTENESS OVERLOAD and not much else.

An amazingly cute and fluffy story! The MC is so cute that even the most dangerous creatures all submit to him! A great story for people who want a break or want fluffs.

I don’t know where “The king’s Game” title came from, but this was not what I was expecting. I’m so disappointed in this novel that I don’t even have the heart to finish reading this.

Everything is easy peasy lemon squeezy for MC because he is the king of the most op race or party from the beginning. I guess it makes sense for MC to be a king in each world but “Game” is in the title and there’s literally no thrill or challenge in anything.

MC is the plainest... more>> plain bread ever. I never related to MC as a human being and I suspected that he was a stringless puppet or something. MC loved his words like a gold and never showed what he was even thinking. Ml’s love for MC was also unreasonable and illogical, there was no foundation to build the relationship but ML just took Mc?? I never felt anything romantic at all. I guess something will explain why they were like that but I just can’t read this any longer. <<less

MC meets ml. ML falls in love at first sight. Everyone is surprised by how good ML treats MC. ML constantly doting on MC, ignoring everyone else besides MC, MC passively accepts it. Everyone dotes on MC, MC accepts it.

if someone asks me to describe what MC is like in this novel: "he's just there. The MC is there to be doted on. That's it."

what about the ml? "The ml's life revolves around the MC. His personality trait is doting on MC, besides that, he's just like a robot, doesn't... more>> care about anything/anyone else besides the MC."

I like pampering and doting ml. BUT

what makes this story boring is that the ML doesn't even try to get to know the MC for real; the ML never really ask questions or have meaningful or enjoyable conversations with the MC, he just dotes and dotes and dotes on MC. So all his dotings don't really feel genuine, he's just doing this repetitive thing over and over again and instead of making my heart goes "awwww", his doting actions feels very "programed".

but what makes me drop this novel is how there's almost no conflict and the worst part of this novel is how the MC is so PASSIVE. There's no schemes, no op MC, no nothing. MC relies on others, everyone else besides himself to solve all of his problems. <<less

A really adorable story with a little bit of spices here and there to make you cry a bit. To be honest, I don't feel that the characters are flat at all. To see the developments, you need to be able to have attention to detail and read between the lines, it's quite subtle. ... more>>
Spoiler

MC's a god that started with a little more feelings than others and recently got more personality from being born as a human. ML's MC's creation who, just like the small worlds (or was it the rules), only had the emotion of love towards MC, MC's their entire world. This fact is ingrained into their whole being. They developed in the information department (their knowledge expanded), as well as their emotional department (only related to MC, they cared about MC and all things related to him). -The ML didn't have love at first sight, because he loved him even before all this started, if you've read till the end, he indeed started with high affection for MC, but his affection levels rises with time as well until it become undying love that didn't care about anything but him.

-The game isn't a game to get a reward. It's more of a re-exploring of the worlds he made. ML did this because MC loves the worlds he made and all the residents in it, he made the game to find MC in the countless worlds and reinstated him as God, as well as to make him happy because he could only see the world indirectly before (by bringing him to these worlds, he experienced life in these worlds that he loves and interact with others). MC who was a god, was really lonely even after ML came, deep down, he envied the residents of the worlds who had such colourful emotions and experiences, full of merriment. The game's purpose was only so : to find MC, make him enjoy life, & let him come back to their side again. Also as the healing journey of ML and the small worlds from the panic and loss.

-Lastly, the translations. If you've read the translator's comment on top (which you should have before starting to read the novel), you'll know that the translator is a novice in translating (he/she already said that her translation is basically an upgraded MTL) even if he/ she's part of Chrysanthemum Garden's group, doesn't automatically means she's an expert (everyone goes to the process of: knowing-> learn -> master). Hence, several mistakes here and there, which is perfectly normal. Could you run just after you born? No, right? Even so, the errors weren't to the point where it became hard to read. Even if you're not so good at English, the meaning should've come across. It really wasn't fair of you to condemn her/his hard work even after she/he states her capabilities clearly. You just came into a conclusion yourself and then you blamed others for it. Basic morals are really starting to fade away from humanity...

All in all, this novel's good for healing and light reading. <<less

With the title of "The King's Game, " I expected the story would be about The King's Game, a game where people have to give instructions to other characters as part of the game but somehow strive to win above all others in competition. That is absolutely not what this is even slightly. "The King's Game" web novel has nothing to do with The King's Game, the actual game!

The MC is indeed a Gary Sue, meaning there is no action, no tension, no drama, no horror, and no mystery. There... more>> are also no games, despite the name of this series. There isn't even any comedy! Everyone exists to pamper the MC. If they do not pamper, they get their faces slapped, but it's so easy there's no gratification from it.

The characters are all flat, especially the MC and ML. The MC exists to be pampered, and the ML wants to pamper and possess. That's all there is to their relationship and character depth. With such 2D lead characters, the side characters aren't any better.

The plot is all about the pampering. There is no other purpose to this series. It is painfully obvious from the start that the MC is getting preferential treatment.

The settings are somewhat interesting and could have been the only slightly redeeming feature here. Unfortunately, the writer doesn't flesh these settings out. The cool sci-fi setting with potential has very little of that potential used. The xianxia setting after that hardly has any description to bring the world to life.

This is not a novel I would recommend reading. Even the fluff is weak, and there isn't any comedy. It doesn't have any strengths in regards to the writing, characters, or plotline. If you want to read a light, fluffy story, there are several better options available. <<less

Completely fluffy, there’s zero angst, some people might think it’s like golden finger op type MC tho, but the point of the novel is just fluff and warmth imo.... so obviously there couldn’t possibly be real obstacles and angst.

It was wrapped up in the end on why things occurred, tbh the 4 star is because the translation of some things were a bit off and made reading a bit disrupted... I kept stopping to try to make sense of what’s going on and figured it was a mistranslation or a... more>> the edited mtl was not reconstructed well.

The other reason is because the author had potentially made alot of victims due to ml’s selfishness on finding a loophole in order to not let anyone take mc’s place... if these people didn’t die that would be good, but it still resulted in the “last villain’s” death because he couldn’t except the rigged game he was forced to fail at.

After reading so many counter attack novels, I always end up thinking the so called villains wouldn’t turn out that way if they weren’t provoked and entrapped into it in the first place. <<less

This is your typical quick transmigration story.

Gu Huai: the MC, smart, loved in every world

Chu Chu: the ML, smart, OP in every world

Overall:

The MC is loved by his loyal followers and puppy ML in every world. There is not much drama/suspense/faceslaps, so it can get fairly boring/repetitive/bland. Because the MC is protected in the very beginning of each world, the MC doesn't need to try that hard to accomplish his mission objective.

So I don't usually write reviews, but I came here after I heard that this is connected to I Not Human (after I read finish that book), which is a spin-off (?) Of this book. I have not read this book yet, so after I have read it thoroughly, I will come back and edit my thoughts, but from the first chapter, I think I can safely say that the only difference of these two books is that this book has a system that follows Gu Huai, and the other... more>> doesn't.

Edit: The whole book changes it's plot (compared to I Not Human) and goes a way different direction because it has a System following Gu Huai around (I'm assuming, people can correct me if I'm wrong). Although the beginning of story written is quite or very similar to the spin-off, it has its own story and if I read this first, it would have been engaging.

Thoughts on this book? Honestly, I feel that those who read this book first and went to I Not Human, or went there first and came here, the expectations would rise. And that was what happened to me. While reading this book, it didn't make me feel the way that I Not Human made me feel, which is amused, happy and entertained. Sure, both books have fluffiness and a little angst, but coming here to read kind of made me disappointed, especially after reading it's spin-off first. Anyway, the story is still great, it's just that it did not do the cake for me because as you can see, I dropped the book because I got too bored of it. I felt that the other book could be compared to this. Although some reviewers say it's bad and has no depth, it does have it but quite subtle since it focuses more on sweet romance and fluffiness. If you are feeling sad on a day and you want to feel better, this is the story for you. All in all, both books are great, it just differs from one's taste. <<less

AAHHH CUTEE CUTEE SO CUTEEE

VERYY VERYY RECOMMENDED!

It only has 5 arc and each arc is really long but it's good I love Ah Huai and CHU CHU!!

... more>> The reason why the creature of the world (Chu Chu and the family/subordinate) immediately like Gu Huai is because their soul already know each other in the first place, the purpose of King's Game is only to retrieve Gu Huai back to the throne lol (don't ask, ofc it's Noah's doing haha)

In the original world, Gu Huai make King's Game to appoint new King since he has to dissapeared, with new King, Noah and sub creatures will not disappear too, but Noah thought Gu Huai did that to save the world so when Noah found Gu Huai reincarnated in one of the thousands world, he immediately split himself into system to help Gu Huai be the King once again.

So, system = Noah = Chu Chu = all the ML

Oh yeah by the way, Noah and sub creature is made by Gu Huai. Noah is the ML, and sub creature is the so called family or subordinate in each arc. Remember this. They're super like and loyal to MC.

Doting ML, super duper doting ML.

MC isn't dense and he's smart and quick at judging the situation. It's not really action challenging but it's really heart warming, the villain of course it's another participant of the King's Game but it's not hard to defeat him, and he's only appear at the last 2 arc.

The story ending is not enough aaahhh I need more extras tbh I want to know Gu Huai and Chu Chu everyday routine in the supreme palace!

Oh boy, this was not what I expected at all! For some reason, I thought this was and “unlimited flow” novel... Bkdkdldld to be fair, it was recommended after I read a series of such novels so *sneezing face* Anyway, I digress. This is a quick transmigration novel where the MC is placed in Mary-Sue-roles each time. Giving an example: The first world had him as the King of the Zergs. The OP ML immediately bent the knee for him and the lower level zergs followed his every command and... more>> doted on him. This would be a little suffocating if the characters weren’t so mild LOL. both the MC and ML are the stoic type that don’t express their emotions freely.

This makes it clear that the focus of the novel is focused more so on the setting (the circumstances of all the different worlds) than the romance or the characters themselves. I actually really like this aspect, but it’s not what I’m looking to read rn, so I could only stop and write down this note to come back to it later — for when I’m in the mood for such a novel lolol. <<less

Pros :

The first arc is the premise for I'm not Human. I quite like it but I'm not Human is obv more well written. The whole book is about MC being the treasured baby of the century.

MC kinda smart?? But moat of the time, MC get away with any problems by the help of others soooo

... more>> Cons :

ML is boring... It's the same character setting from start to finish, the baby human arc is kinda cute tho. Somehow, the story is boring and plain. Could be the way of writing or something idk. <<less

The character is 2D? Or is it one dimensional? I'm not sure which is better. The game started and MC just accepts it like "okay, I'm in a game. Let's play then" as simple as that. Maybe it's just the lack of description but it makes him plain. I'm just starting but this is my first impression after reading at least ten chapters

Very fluffy, feel-good love between the main character and his love interest. I'm glad that the small angsty parts are overwhelmed by the cute interactions between the two. The plot in each world is interesting, and though the ending is kind of confusing, maybe due to translation or phrasing, but overall, the story is quite enjoyable.
