When Shu Yian woke up, she unexpectedly found herself transmigrated into a novel and gained the ability to read minds.

Read this a long while ago when it first came out in the raws, so do forgive me if I miss something.

Story:

At first, you think it's just a comedy plot, but no, it goes even deeper than that! Later on, there will be a lot of psychological mystery going on and boy was it interesting!

MC finds out that there are three different versions of her, and each one of them interacted with this world at some point. There is a lot of metaphysics involved with the blurring of three different dimensions, really deep and introspective. The novel also touches upon a lot of mature themes like depression, su*cide, parental issues, etc.

The lighthearted moments with the FL is what makes the novel, not a total angst fest, even if the comedy is a little bit forced.

Characters:

I'm sorry to say, but the MC basically carries the show here. I mean, she seems like the only one who has any IQ among the main characters. She also has some great character backstory compared to the rest and the slow unraveling of that backstory sheds more light on her character as the novel progresses. She's also funny and kicks ass, not afraid to tell someone off if needed to. FL on the other hand could have used a lot more development as it felt like the author used her for comedic relief. There are parts where we do see the affectionate and "good" parts of the FL, but they tend to be in the details and author-sama didn't really expound on them so often it would be missed.

Translation Quality:

Well, there are only 2 chapters out in English so I'm not going to comment too much on the translations yet, but so far it looks pretty good!

TLDR: MC tries to solve a dark mystery while FL chases after her oblivious wife. Stay for the plot and the FL's hilarious inner thoughts.

I finished it today and I didn't know what I expected. The story started out comedic and funny, and FL is obviously a big tsundere. But I felt like she was too much in denial, too over the top, at some points also too mean. MC however is great, she's a very self-confident woman who gives no f*cks about others, yet she's kind when people deserve it. I liked MC the most.

Story:
MC is being transmigrated into a world where she has to keep other women away from FL until the real heroine arrives. However her predecessor was too clingy to FL, so FL came to dislike the person who MC is currently occupying. To help MC getting around, the system gives MC the ability to read minds.

But hold on, the tone shifts later on.

It starts to shift when MC starts to write a novel to earn some money. A bit later she meets Lin Ge, a very sweet woman, who tries to approach MC at an event. MC is shocked because Lin Ge is also a character in her novel, and MC suspects Lin Ge to be the heroine. However the system couldn't give a certain answer. Overall the system seems to hide something, and MC gets closer to the truth the more she investigates.

The plot really darkens when MC gets into danger, and also finds out about her past and why she transmigrated into this world.

I say stay for the mystery and plot if you're curious about MC's purpose in the transmigrated world, the romance also delivered but very late on, so be prepared for some drama.

The premise of this story was pretty interesting (with the MC's cheat). I really liked the beginning to the point that I couldn't wait and had to read the raws.

But the thing is.... it was kinda okay??

Sure tbh I kinda liked the MC and most of the times she was reasonable.

... more>> I expected this story to be something like this:

  • FL: "Ugh I'm a tsundere I hate you."
  • MC: "Hah shut up Ik u love me."
But Ooooooooof was I wrong. I personally do enjoy reading about tsunderes and thought that this story is going to show us with MC's mind reading cheat the "GAP MOE" of the Female Lead...... but it didn't.

The FL was even a tsundere in her mind and somehow the MC only heard the bad things about her and acted rude towards the FL without any explanation. Which is a shame... Ik it was supposed to be "comedic" but for me it was more frustrating than funny. Even tho I love slowburn romance this was too slow beyond my patience.

The only reason I kept reading was bcs I was curious about the original heroine of the story and why she disappeared. <<less

I recently finished the raws, but I feel that the ending ends up lacking a lot of explanation. It feels rushed.

Multiple times throughout the story, especially towards the end, I was always unaware of what’s going on. Everything is just too confusing, even after the author explained everything, there was just too many loopholes and whatever else.

This was one of the best well written novels I have read, I love the FL and the MC, most characters except for the MC act unreasonably but that's probably because of the novel they were living in. If those same characters were to come to our world they would think we are the ones acting weird, so I took it from thier pov and not mine which made thier actions make sense to me.

I love the way this novel was written, it doesn't focus on romance by 100%, it... more>> also adds breathtaking mysteries to solve, there are insane plot twists too which made it even more enjoyable to read.

Another thing I liked is how the translator provides explanation for Chinese idioms which taught me a lot about Chinese culture and thier language, I respect the author for writing such a great novel and the translator for translating the novel. <<less

whew..

obviously we all know the consequences of reading mtl ngl it really was a pain but twas worth it

i enjoyed the ride, tho it was a shame there's no more tled chapters since it would've been better if the "plot" really was explained properly

i more or less stayed cuz of the plot tbh, I was intrigued

Story is carried by the Mc's personality. You are first think it's just gonna be a dramatic romance, but mu*der and "supernatural" elements also get involved to explain the Mc's transmigration. A good read tbh. Skipped a school acting practice for this

The story started out quite light and comedic, and although it got darker as the story progressed, it had a nice ending. An ending which matched that of both characters’ personalities.

In the beginning, the MC was someone funny and candid with great analytical skills, but she depended too much on the ‘reading mind cheat’ and had failed to distinguish that when she couldn’t hear the thoughts of someone (occasionally when she did hear, they were all good thoughts) prove that the person was such a ‘goddess’ with pure personality. The... more>> way she nicknamed her as ‘goddess’ and started praising her endlessly made me uncomfortable while reading... I could tell such a huge plot twist was going to unravel soon. Even when suspecting something was wrong, she still stubbornly held on to this wishful thinking, which almost led her to being mu*dered by ‘her goddess’ not once but twice if not for the interferences of the doctor and the FL. She did, however, live her life with a clear conscience which led to her to choose such an ending in order to reset everything.

As for the FL, she was an ice beauty appeared to have low EQ but was a tsundere at heart, who thoughts that whatever the MC does was to entice and seduce her due to her great charisma. This couldn’t be helped as the previous host that occupied the MC’s body had such a dramatic and histrionic personality. However, when she realized her feelings, she didn’t hesitate to express them and shower the MC with her candid thoughts and affections. She had never fell in love with anyone before, but once she did, her confidence in her unforgettable love and emotions was the main factor that bring the story to a happy ending where she could still be with her beloved and no one had to suffer or sacrifice for their love. <<less

It’s been pretty good so far, and I enjoyed reading it. I didn’t think much abt it and just read it cuz it was funny and a bit cute, but reading someone else’s review really opened my eyes. I didn’t pay much attention to the mind reading thing and so seeing the MC act like she does when the FL is thinking mean things was just funny to me, but it’s quite horrible for the FL. She’s only thinking like a tsun and so even tho she likes MC, the... more>> MC acting like she does sometimes would be f*cking horrible. Kinda feel bad for FL now so no 5 stars <<less
