That day after the depressed-looking Cen Jin had dropped out of his school, he noticed a little enrollment ad put on a streetlight post outside the school entrance. When he saw that the third-rate technical school advertised in the paper didn’t need an admission exam, he enrolled.

Cen Jin, who only wanted a miscellaneous diploma, found out that the usual lesson of this technical school was: teaching them how to slay a god!

There were three codes for new students to adhere:

-Do not trust all the Gods.

-If you encountered the mysterious (Grim Reaper) and failed to seek help, then adopt these actions: Negotiate, pounce, dominate, and kill. Do not stop until you’re on your last breath.

-Please use up all your strength to convey your feelings, and pray for the gods’ favor.

Cen Jin had no option but to address the gods and deliver a totally committed, passionate confession in order to survive, despite his embarrassment.

Until the first Freshmen’s Skill Competition Conference, at the critical moment of life and death, he confessed before the public, attracting the pity of 100,000 gods.

Only then did he come to know that what he had drawn was a satirical version of the freshmen codes, and the object of his confession was superior to all the 100,000 gods.

Students and instructors all around the world had simultaneously witnessed the chaotic uproar of the Freshmen’s Skill Competition Conference – that tumultuous day, 100,000 gods were inspired to come and, uniformly, cheered to the inconspicuous gloomy yellow-haired in the center of the crowd: Wife teetee!!

You wouldn’t be able to see that sort of scenario unless you leave Earth.

Let me do the honor of being the first reviewer.

Warning for the Novel: GORE!

The Grim Reaper can't be tricked takes reference from Lovecraftian, something that adds a lot of charm for me, it piqued enough of my interest to read it in MTL (which apparently is a bit hard).

Anyway, Our MC is someone who I really relate to ... more>>

(after going through my upheaval of being too poor I can only eat once a day)

, poor to the bone, will take any money given, and most of all content with staying mediocre for all his life. He tried his best to really stay mediocre, but sadly he is not mediocre at all. His qualifications is good, his sequence is good, his brain is just too good... So the next best thing to do is of course using that brain to set up a facade that he is mediocre.

Our ML... Well I don't know enough about him at the chapter I am in atm. He's a God though. What is a God? Read it if you wanna know.

Anyway, the story tone and flow is a bit like Lord of the Mysteries, which I like. I like it even more since this is BL, which yay!

Similar novel I will recommend here in case you finished reading this is:

    • Fourth Perspective (a BL on going novel exploring post apocalyptic setting with Logic Factor, special abilities and such, which is just another words for pollution. It is the same author of The Earth is Online, so expect a not very good romance, lmao. Unfortunately, no one is translating it now)
    • Daily Disposable Persona (BL Finished novel, heavily influenced by Lovecraftian tale)
    • Lord of the Mysteries (first part of the trilogy, fortunately a no romance novel)
    • Since the red moon appears (another post apocalyptic Lovecraftian influence, no romance it seems, I haven't finished reading it but it was quite good since there's enough questions to leave me wanting more. It's also 800s chapters)
I will continue reading this in MTL, and will reread it once somebody finished translating this. So I do hope it is finished.

You must either like gore or not dislike it to be able to read this. I've read a lot of supernatural and this takes the cake for gore. There are more disclaimers: you must either know Chinese to read this, or have a really good translation with detailed footnotes and good grammar (if the original translator continues it would be great). This book would be confusing otherwise.

It's quite unique / creative imo. It's like academy meets gore meets ghosts meets supernatural meets Chinese spirituality meets the underworld meets real... more>> estate meets powers. The concept of a god in here is so different from what I usually think. But it makes sense I mean.... still. What is a god here?

The MC is an interesting character. A promise abiding "migrant worker" who is very smart and responsible but also is a bonifide salted fish character who has no ambition. He isn't actually physically strong until he gains that ability by questionable means. But he always is morally good but his actual action / decisions against the rules of his world/school are questionable; so it creates this interesting contrast about him that just I can't put a finger on him. He is wild ngl; the Chinese word would be "pe*verted" but not in the English s*xual way. It's more like he doesn't care at all if anything is gory or reaction to it in a normal way. The way he cleaned the bloody walls and slept in there... Stuff like that. He's such contrasting character.

The ml? Definite mystery as of what exactly his intentions are. Good looking tho lol.

I haven't read anything specifically like this before - it's like a combination of things I wouldn't think to put together. Unfortunately, the cons are the prevailing Chinese nationalism and slight undertones of xenophobia within the novel.

Spoiler

ngl the novel lost me at the "story game arc" and I'm not coming back. I cannot get a grasp on the pacing and movement of the characters anymore after that. I'm officially lost. I might come back to finish this or not but yea. I just started skimming and I just couldn't care anymore. I thought it was only gonna be a brief section but it kept going on and I already skipped so I dunno what the f is going on lol. I think this author is slightly all over the place. They lack a sense of focus. I need them to focus more on the MC / family hut.

When they focus on the other characters (outside of our family hut group) for too long, it loses me bc it doesn't really add much to the plot of the novel anyways because they don't know more than either the MC or the ml. If they're there just for background explanation then please shorten it. Chop chop. My attention span is not there. Their paragraphs aren't even exciting to read ok.
