tbh I didn't really like him at first, he initially approaches mc's friend (bcs he is the reincarnation of the person ML loved thousands of years ago) but due to an unexpected thing he bonds with MC with his other identity (fox). guess what he did? after making mc's friend

fall in love with him. ML (fox) actually gives hope to mc!! and even confessed to MC that he likes him?! if ML will prefer his old lover-, he should not give any hope to MC and focus on your old lover!!MC didn't even know at first that these 2 ml's were the same person :) another comment says MC is third wheel but he wont be third wheel if ML doesn't give him hope. ML should also be more assertive between choosing his old lover or MC but he keeps undecided

pathetic human. hiding behind his usual mask he is a person full of envy, jealousy, and loneliness, never feel the feeling of being loved. after he met ml/fox he finally understood what it was like to be loved. when he blackened after ML preferring his old lover/MC friend, I'm not too surprised. if only ML wasn't mc's obsession in his 2 lives, I hope in his next life MC much more trying to love himself +finds someone who is more sincere and loves him.

innocent and cheerful character. that is sad, compared to MC that looks more like side character/villain. mc's friend is much more suitable to be the protagonist lol, MC is also envious of him but he always considers him a "friend" bcs he is mc's only friend, even though in the end it's all in vain bcs MC killed him. Hopefully after reincarnation he meets someone who sincerely loves him

all the characters in this novel are pathetic, they are trying to chase something they never got.

My rating is 4.3 it's rare to find a realistic/relatable MC like this.

This is a very good novel but it has a very unlikeable and realistic MC. The MC reminded me of my ex-best friend. We were both outcasts in elementary school so we became best friends up until high school. I was the most unpopular kid in class, while she was the 2nd I think. After I began to become to be more popular, she began to distance herself away from me despite my efforts to continue being friends with her. After graduation, I saw her drunk in the local bar... more>> and I found out from her that the only reason why she became friends with me is because I made her felt better about herself and she liked it when I was most unpopular kid. Which is what the MC and MC's friend's friendship is like. Tbh if the MC was in any other novel he would have been the jealous cannon fodder that took advantage of the protagonist. I also think I know who the fox is; if its true, I'm going to be disappointed. I am probably going to wait for the TL to be completed to see if I'm going to continue to read this novel or not.

Edit: Changing my 4 stars to a 1 star. Mlt'd the rest and can I say something, this MC is genuinely such an unlikeable character and I feel so sorry for the ML and Lu Ming. The TL is amazing but MC is such a scummy person that I wanted the MC to fail and have a miserable end instead of the hopeful end. Tbh I'm still so dam salty about Lu Ming, he deserved so much better. The best way to describe this book without spoiling anything is if the villain (our MC) likes person A but that person A loves person B and person A and Person B is dating. The villain kills Person B to get Person A to fall in love with them instead. And through manipulation and lies Person A falls for the Villian. Honestly if you like seeing good people (Person B) losing and bad people winning this might be the novel for you <<less

Don't be fooled by the simple summary, the story is hella complicated.

You like angst? Relatable MC? Your heart felt like rollercoaster when reading the drama? Hey, this is for you.

Sure, MC's not the best MC out there, but that's what made the story perfect to me. And as usual, Lanxi laoshi's story ending made me :'))))

Wow... idk how to feel about it, it's probably a really good novel, but I just can't bring myself to enjoy it... mostly probs bc of the... side cp?? (I'm not too sure if they're one, bc I skimmed over those parts, wanting to avoid side CPs, but yeah, they make me uncomfortable...)

All in all, I think, without the side cp, I'd enjoy it a lot! I think I'll drop it now, but I would have loved to see MCs progress, the romance between MC and ML and the... more>> ending... I wonder in which way MC

That genius Hai Huan, who's always better than others, the cold CEO type of person. Then we have the idiot, the class clown, the last in class that probs everyone laughs about/with, but is also really like. He's a people person, and at the end of the day, he'll still make it, Lu Ming. Btw that's the side cp I mentioned. And yeah... idk, seeing someone who's always been the worst in everything suddenly get better, seeing them get all the attention... I can understand MCs frustration, bc I also feel so... and also, that naivety, that kindness, that smile... it kind of pisses me off haha... if it's not the MC I don't want others to be that ways... idk ^^' Anyways, these two are like the protagonists of some story... and MC can only be a passer by, somebody who's name won't even be remembered... and that's so sad. It's like how he described at some point in the beginning. He's very average. The geniuses can be as arrogant as they want, they will be liked and admired. The last one in class mostly as well. Despite having bad grades, they still get along with everyone. Only someone who's average in everything, won't get any attention. They aren't good, but but are also not too bad... tbh that's unfair, but I guess that's just how it is... Anyways, I guess that's why I can relate, but also why I feel uncomfortable... it's like, normally I read novels trying to escape this reality, trying to put myself into the roles of the MC who can do anything they want and will achieve their happy ending without much trouble. They are kind of vicious, but only to the point, where ppl will like this kind of trait... but here... I have to face reality, that not everyone can always be good, have good thoughts, won't ever be jealous... so I'd really love seeing MC succeed and show them, that he too, can do it... no matter how... sadly I just can't stand watching that side cp

This was heart-wrenching.

Endless mistakes, regrets, and wrong decisions. Most of us have made some kind of wrong decisions in our lives so for me the story was so realistic. Feelings of envy, jealousy, and comparisons may not be healthy but are in human nature.

The MC is a deeply flawed individual, just like a normal person, and unfortunately, he was manipulated, disregarded, ab*sed, ignored, and abandoned again and again so in the end he became a twisted man with too much blood in his hands.

But reading his story, just for a... more>> sole man's obsession to be treated that way is too pitiful.

I pity him. I really do. He only wanted to be loved and to be cherished by another.

The ML was so stuck in the past that he didn't see the present (as lots of the characters in this story) and I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad that in the end, he saw the light. It was too late IMO. <<less

If you like angst, this is definitely for you. The story is really complicated, when you think everything is alright some extra plot comes smacking you in the face. The MC is so f**king relatable. As for the ML, I have plenty of mixed feelings about him. Not gonna lie, I actually hated him at one point but his attitude is understandable.

It's a very good novel, the world building is great, so is the characterization, and there are so many side characters that are surprisingly well-fleshed and really relevant to the story. Overall the novel is packed with the MC's tragedies, when you think he has suffered enough something worse will surely happen next, a novel packed full of the MC's struggle, it's really heartwrenching especially knowing that he really only was a miserable, innocent child that only wanted a little love and attention, that was all it took to make... more>> him happy. I loved his character developpement though through the end I was kinda disappointed it seemed rushed and not planned well enough, there could've been more to it, it deviated from all his previous character developpement, it felt somewhat self-contradictory. And I wish there were more flash-backs to their past lives so we could better understand the settings and get more into it. The ending is the only thing that disappointed me about this novel, I don't accept that HE. I don't like the ML throughout the story, he is a good lover but not a good person, he doesn't know basic decency, he's a cruel and cold-hearted person that is way too rigid and rational. His lover is number one, everything else is dust in his eyes.

I wish MC could've been a little bit more cruel towards ML at the end, the ML really doesn't deserve redemption from the MC, he kept disappointing him again and again. The last betrayal really shouldn't be ignored in the name of love. I wish MC had moved on, forgiven and forgotten ML, I wish he had rejected him. "Now you finally choose me, but I don't love you anymore, let bygones be bygones, I spent all my life chasing after something that I coudn't get, now I learned that it's time to let go" I would've been more satisfied with such an ending, much more satisfaction. In the novel's ending, it seems as though after much suffering inflicted on MC by ML, when ML finally decided that MC suffered enough bcs of him and that he let down MC enough times, he turns around, declares that he finally "loves" MC, and MC tearfully accepts ML's love, everything that happened before gets forgotten in the dust, swept under the rug, all of the previous MC's suffering gets forgotten. That is disrespecting and down-grading everything that MC went through. MC really deserves better
