I'm really disappointed with this novel....

It started out excellently presented and was very satisfying to read.

The MC was smart and cautious, the family loving and warm and was showing signs of being a great read...

The ML is the typical cold, perfect, overbearing specimen with no 3D qualities.

The moment he showed up, MC was reduced to only blushing, gnashing his teeth and selling meng (in ML's view).

What's even more unbelievable is the change in MC family's attitude after meeting ML

1. The sheer disrespect ML shows MC by always teasing, touching and humiliating MC in front of people without considering mc's feelings.

This will be my first time leaving a review because I found that several opinions below didn't give this novel enough chance.

The beginning starts well. With his knowledge of past life and wit, MC slapped faces here and there, made it very satisfying to follow his journey. Then ML came and fell in love at first sight with MC. To be honest I think this part is a bit too cliche, but whatever, I've seen worse.

Plot wise, I can already predict the end of all the s*upid antagonist characters, so I really hope I can just skip to their wedding. Reading these chapters, I can see why so many readers decided to drop this novel.

However, when they finally arrived in the capital from MC's hometown, that's when the real good sh*t starts. With all the intricate plotting that happened from all directions plus the improvement in dog food quality, I found myself enjoying the story more and more. Funnily enough, compared to the beginning, ML starts to act shameless which actually makes him more human in my opinion.

What makes this novel different is that compared to other rebirth stories where the protagonist was reborn just for the sake of correcting what had gone wrong without any explanation, there's actually a reason why MC is able to be reincarnated again as part of the mysteries start to unfold. Believe it or not, even the reason why ML fell in love at first sight sounds believable to me now.

Last but not least, I'm not saying that this story is perfect. No matter how much I want to complement the plot, it is really hard to power through that first arc. However, I can see that the story is improving and you should at least give it a chance until chapter 140+ before making the judgement. <<less

So for people who said Ling Zhang (MC) turn useless after ML show up, well, if ML did not show how competent he is MC won't accept him lol.

Ling Zhang is badass. You need to read until they finally got married to see how badass he is so yeah, chapter 4xx ish lol which is long I know. But this story is good you won't regret reading it.

Spoilers: this has something to do with his hidden bloodline xD also love how the ML is very supported to MC and let's him do his own decisions because he trust and love the MC unconditionally. Ah I can't wait for them to conquer the whole world, because this is what it seems to appear as I further read. To others who read the summary, just don't stop there. The starting was awesome, then I had my doubts for some time.... But then the story took a different turn after about the first 150 to 200 chapters! And the MC who initially seemed weak in comparison to ML, then slowly became quite powerful! It feels awesome to see the MC's kick-ass growth and the chemistry between the two works up really well...!!!! 😍😍

the story is very interesting. But I'll drop the story only because trying to read the story is really complicated. It's easier to read it on Flying Lines but you have to have points to unlock the story but you dpn't get enough points in a day to read through the chapters. Then you will have to result in buying points so that you can continue to read it

First of all,

I'd like to disagree with all the ppl that says ML disrespecting MC and that MC is reduced to smart to dumb once ML shows up. And some other matters.

1. 1. MC is only a normal scholar who grew up in a small city. Even with the knowledge of his previous incarnation after rebirth, he's still the same normal scholar, just with a bit more future knowledge. How could one expect him to suddenly become a super cunning person after rebirth? That's just silly. After rebirth,
      MC changed his timid and trusting self and got smarter in dealing with ppl, but that still doesn't make him a sudden know--it-all. He still have to learn it and improve himself.

1. 1. ML have more life experience than MC being that he became a soldier and experience both the battle of power struggle in the capital as well as fighting at the borders at a young age. Of course, MC's newly acquired cunningness won't match that of ML's.

1. 1. After MC and ML meet, ML have been nothing but supportive of MC while trying to get to know him. He helped MC with his matters and even helped MC with martial arts. All because he truly fell in love with MC. He's also very patient and wait until MC wants to tell him his secret.

1. 1. As for the matter with their engagement and marriage, what MC felt at the beginning about wanting to cancel their engagement is from what happened with his previous incarnation. However, that's only what he got to know from his previous incarnation. In fact, after his rebirth he was able to learned that he misunderstood the ML and mistakenly taken the ML as a jerk because

1. 1. As for the matter of public teasing, PDA, I'm sorry but that's just silly to think that ML should be a monk and not touch MC at all. They're engaged and everyone in the kingdom knows it. ML is seriously in love with MC. Of course he wouldn't be able to hold back and want to stake his claim.

ANYWAY, at the end of it all, it's still personal preference. It's a little silly to want every MC/ML to be from the same mold. Instead of pushing my own ideal standards on the MC/ML, I'd rather tried to understand why and what they like about each others. Plus, how the author write their story.

I actually found this story interesting and am anticipating what is going to happen next. Furthermore,

I like that the first to falls in love is ML. ML is very sweet to MC without being overbearing. And he make sure to let MC (and the public) knows that he think MC is very beautiful and is the only one for him.

This is my first time writing a review because I deeply felt injustice for this novel. It is one of my favourite. This has great plot, good translation, very absorbing character interaction and lastly my favourite couple dynamic. They really love each other which is shown throughout the novel. They are literally my golden couple (along with FOD couple ☺️).

Many may feel a little difficulty at the start to really get into the novel but trust me patience is all what we need. Characters' individuality and their relationship develops throughout the story. I mean please this is a underappreciated gem. You cannot go wrong in here. Trust me give it a try....

I usually read the reviews before starting any novel to not waste time but reading the reviews of this novel makes me doubt about everything. I may need reconsider every novel I abandoned based on it now😞

I’m not sure why this doesn’t get a better rating. It’s 500+ chapters in total not 50+ that’s available here, though it’s marked as complete. I read some reviewers who hated the ML but I seriously don’t think he’s that bad, since he patiently tried to find out why MC has such negative prejudices against him when they’ve never met before (even in the past life they didn’t have any contact with each other & MC’s dislike stemmed from things ML didn’t do/ wasn’t aware of)

I like that MC... more>> didn’t just instantly get a gold finger & leveled up from 1 to 10, or knew every single plot or happening/ incident. He continued to better & grow himself, while slowly falling in love with ML keeping in mind love is not the be all n end all. ML also offered MC an equal partnership, helping him to improve his martial arts, political power, personal growth etc - things did not end at just the grand wedding.

I love that both a loving family (Lìñg) and the atypical nasty relatives family (Yuwen) was both portrayed for contrast, and I actually cared about the side character of the family.

The plot was not repetitive and each incident was carefully resolved through smarts not from just depending on knowledge of the plot, and the characters actually needed to do work to resolve it which makes the resolution so much more satisfying.

Overall, I recommend giving it a go as it’s a BL that’s satisfying on plot, political intrigue, a lil smut later on & sweetness of a healthy relationship. 50 chapters is really just the intro so please don’t rush to review it at that. <<less

Guys don't drop the novel just because of bad reviews it's a really good novel. I must warn the story is long and the plot changes are kinda slow bec'z the author write a lot of unnecessary details. Honestly up to today this is truly one of the best BL reincarnation novels I've read. This was a monster of a danmei to consume. Admittedly, I've had it on my to read list for the longest time. Starting and stopping then forgetting about it before starting it again.

But because of a serious dry spell from some other BL I'm waiting to be completely translated, I decided to give this one last shot. And I am so freaking glad I did.

Its broken up into volumes but I like to break it up in my mind as arcs. It's not an altogether perfect novel but the things... more>> I loved about it outshines the issues I found (which honestly weren't that big of a deal lol compared to some other problematic BL I enjoy).

Each arc developed and helped build up the overarching story as it grew and expanded in scope arc after arc.

1st arc - the Tanyang arc - - 8/10

Also called the courtship arc in my head lol. Getting to know MC and falling in love with him. Setting up some solid character work. It wasn't my favorite and was where I got stuck reading before I came back to the novel when I was in a better mood to read. I also almost dropped it again several times because I was kinda getting frustrated with MC but eventually cooled down because his thoughts and actions were still understandable. His rebirth wasn't just a way to give him a bit of a gold finger. It had draw backs too because it became a basis for his prejudice against the ML which gets cured in later arcs.

2nd arc - The capital arc 10/10

finally getting the throne arc and getting married arc lol. I honestly thought things would end here but nope I was so wrong hahahaha. It was frustrating for me because MC keeping secret of rebirth from ML really rubbed me the wrong way. ML wants to know. And like all their development based on communication up to this point was being jeopardized by this s*upid thing. Like MC couldn't even trust it to ML and I couldn't understand why because MC doesn't rationalize their decision to keep it from ML until later where it boils down to MC being afraid ML will think MC is a freak.

Like, I get it people can be irrational but wtf this dragged on too long in this arc for my taste.

Despite that, after they resolve things the rest of the court drama is pretty enjoyable if you like that sort of thing. Which I do lol fortunately I really do. I'm the type of person who enjoyed All the Star Wars movies. Even the ones where all they do is sit and talk hahaha

This novel so far is doing a pretty good job at attracting my attention and completely deserving of my 5 star rating.

The few things I have to say is that the Translator has done a wonderful job at translating this, the English is clear and easy to understand which makes the novel even more smoother to read and follow along.

The story line even though there's only 12 chapters is interesting and pulls you along for the ride.

This story has a great plot for a story that have a lot of chapter... But for the characters... The characters are really destroying everything.

I mean I don't mind if the MC was portrayal as naive or s*upid, and same for ML portrayal as domineering or possessive...

BUT AT LEAST PLEASE BE CONSISTENT WITH THAT...

The character that author portrayal in this story is absolutely tr*sh, I don't even know how to explain it anymore... This is probably the worst character portrayal I've ever read.

The main focus of this story is politic, scheme, world building and how our couple, hand in hand, get to the pinacle of life. I recommend this for who enjoy a heavy plot about politic/scheme, with some romance.

I don't recommend this if you're looking for a FULL story that FOCUSED on MC who looking for revenge for his past live.

That's basically the earlier chapter about, then ML appears

I like to see how our couple defeat their enemies with their plan, but ML is so OP, smart, and calm that everything looks and solved easily. I can hardly remember them having a hard time when they face any problems. Sorry but I love seeing the main characters suffer lol.

ML is OP smart, handsome, and slightly possesive and protective towards MC.

In the beginning, our MC doesn't have any OPness/advantage beside he knows the future events that will happen to his fams and suddenly remember this secret formation knowledge from his deceased mother.

MC is smart, hard working and willing to learn. Yeah most of the part ML do the job and makes the decision, but we also get the sight of MC learning, getting matured and stronger as the story goes on.

There's no characters arc, so pretty 2D characters for me.

It's in the late chapter that we get to see MC as OP and as fierce as ML, and has his own underling/organization.

There's no love rival. Our couple love and trust each other. They fight sometimes, but they quickly make up. No major fight that depict their relationship development. People who want to get between them usually get face slapped, before they can do anything further. About our CP relationship dynamics, I recommend you to read Shellbee's review. She explains it better than me.

MC's family is loving and peaceful. ML's family is the opposite, you got those annoying family member and inner family conflict from ML's family.

For the plot, it's good. The world building seems legit. The story is long but I can accept it. Imo, knowing how the previous emperor rules the country and saw ML as a threat, it's logical things go that way. I'm not joking when I said our couple, hand in hand, get to the pinacle of life.

1. First off, I rated this 4 stars just because I find it more pleasing than others with ratings of 4.1 or 4.2 and up whether by translation or something else. If you're the type of person who hates the normal rebirth of an OP MC after their previous life, this ain't for you and that's that.
   But for those who like rebirth stories, maybe you'd like this and take it as a light read or something.
   Other than that, MC appears to be smart at first but the impression goes down in regards to ML's involvement.

• Since he can come up with a lot of calculations against his enemies, determining what may be true and what may be false, how can be s*upid enough to think that ML is directly and really involved with his past's shame on and on even if hints prove otherwise?
• Also, there's that part of ML going overboard by being too suspicious of the secret between MC and his father that his behavior becomes too unbearable as if he has to know each and every secret of MC even if he has to forcibly do so.

first of all, finish the novel before you write a review. If you don't then don't comment on it because sometimes your biased comment is misleading to other readers.

It started up pretty promising and is one of my fav bl-rencarnation type of novel... BUT... MC does goes from bad to worst, he comes to life once again and it seems he is wiser and all that, but then he meets ML who is a tipical know-it-all-powerful-marshall-handsome-pice-of-meat that falls in love just once in a lifetime and MC goes back to be a little boy, he sometimes seems smart but everybody else is smarter... more>> or he just forgets all the relevant stuff when ever something important is going to happen like all those pregnant women he asks about at one point, like... Dude, buy a brain!!

ML on the other hand starts pretty plain and then goes better and better, he does starts being a prick to MC, not respecting his opinion and patronacing him like crazy but then he changes completely and is respectful and tactful and all the -fulls you can think of.

Sad to say, till this point one of my favorite characters so far is a pseudo rival in love who is openly gay, smart (more than MC), has good Kung fu and has in fact some character growth.

Reminds me of Comeback of the Abandoned Wife but worse.

lets see how this ends, altho I dont know how long it will take me because it takes a toll on me to keep reading
