I love democracy. I love the republic. Violet is completely broken, both in terms of powers and personality, so she's a super fun character to follow.

Overall the plot flows nicely, with some really great moments- the buildup and payoff to Violet's first revolution is amazing. Not a fan of some recent developments.

Violet starting to assimilate other beings, like animals and monster tanks, is kinda where I draw the line at her power being a fun OP to "wait, this isn't cloning anymore". The side characters also don't get much action- Violet nearly gets completely eradicated and none of her friends seem overly concerned? I'm surprised the regressor isn't treating her as the only hope for saving the world at this point.

Decent fodder if you can ignore some of its glaring issues.

The story is alright, and so are the characters and the plot progression.

I really like how the MC's cloning power was implemented, even if she herself (or themselves) is somewhat underwhelming. She seems really sharp at times and overly s*upid at others, with comments justifying every poor decision she makes "cause she was lobotomized". I can understand "why", but that doesn't make it any more enjoyable to read.

Some characters are also extremely cartoony, like most of the third-rate villains she... more>> encounters throughout the story, though this might not be an issue for some.

I also brushed most of plot holes aside. "Maybe the author left them there for us to imagine the unwritten parts that make sense of it all." He wouldn't be the first nor the last.

What ultimately made me drop this novel was
Spoiler

the fight vs Martina.

The stakes are high. The MC's best friend Daphne is in a coma. Martina's brother has got beaten senseless by the MC, Violet, thrice. It's the strongest opponent Violet has faced so far, and she goes all out, giving her all to win.

But a B-rank hunter is just too strong for the current Violet, even when she's secretly drinking mana supplements.

This could have been a pivotal moment. Violet tasting defeat for the first time since escaping the lab. Maybe this would push her to train seriously and grow as a character. After all, she might have prevented Daphne's coma if she had been just a little stronger...

Yikes. The original Violet —who, surprise, turns out to be a regressor conveniently hiding in her mind— takes over her body and utterly obliterates Martina.

Wait, what am I hearing? Daphne's coma just got conveniently lifted right after the fight? Welp, happy ending!

I know that she ends up learning from the fight, but giving the reader the Deus Ex Machina treatment for almost no reason is just too much for me. "The author may let the MC die and suffer, but he's not willing to see her lose." That's the vibes I get when he turns around a fight like this.

I've read until chapter 70 cause of Sareza's review, but everything I just described takes place right before the turning point he was hinting at, and I've lost the motivation to continue reading, since I don't find the writing exceptional either.

I guess it's just not my cup of tea, but I respect the level of detail Sareza has gone into. It surely made me wanna give this novel a try!

The start is definitely slow, but it picks up later. Honestly, the real "story" doesn't kick off until around chapter 68. Chapters 1-68 are more about setting up the world, developing Violet's personality, growth, exploring her relationships with other characters, and her motivations. Stick with it, it gets way better. Violet is very weak in the early game, but becomes unstoppable in the late game.

This isn't your typical academy-focused novel, most of the story takes place outside the academy. And yeah, it's got army building, military tactics, strategic planning, and... more>> even various technologies introduced in later chapters. It's refreshing to see an academy novel where the protagonist isn't absurdly OP for a change. FL will die numerous times.

This novel is basically dark, academy, and gender bender rolled into one with a morally grey protagonist, and despite its flaws, it has some strong points worth highlighting.

First off, the characters are well-written. Even the side characters, who barely get any screen time, manage to leave a lasting impression. The author did an excellent job making each one distinct and memorable, which adds a lot to the story's overall engagement.

The fight scenes are another high point. The mix of martial arts, magic, and modern weapons is well-executed, with a grounded feel and clear rules that keep everything balanced. The protagonist doesn't rely on sheer power to win fights but uses preparation and strategy, making every battle feel intense and rewarding. From ambushes to teamwork and environmental tactics, the combat is always fresh and thrilling.

Another strength is how the protagonist's abilities tie into her strategic mind. After escaping some brutal experiments, she uses her game knowledge and modern-day perspective to navigate this chaotic world. Her rare clone ability, despite its drawbacks of losing some memories and gets a bit dumbed down, is a unique and clever twist that adds depth to her approach in battles and problem-solving.

That said, the novel isn't without its issues. For one, the pacing early on is rough. After the escape, the story gets bogged down in a repetitive cycle of "I'm too weak → I need to get stronger → let's train." This drags on for over 30 chapters and feels like the plot is spinning its wheels without going anywhere.

The world-building also leaves a lot to be desired. For instance, the setting is this weird "Academy City, " it's cool at first glance, but it quickly becomes clear that the world bends over backward to make the protagonist and her teenage squad the sole problem-solvers. The adults, authority figures, and even major factions seem completely oblivious to massive conspiracies and shady experiments. It's hard to take the stakes seriously when the world feels this contrived.

Speaking of contrived, the villains are pretty laughable. For all their supposed brilliance, their plans fall apart with basic internet searches and some sneaking around. It's hard to feel any real tension when the antagonists are this sloppy.

One missed opportunity is the lack of romance. The author has stated there won't be any, but there are moments where character interactions hint at deeper connections. Exploring that could have added more emotional depth to the story.

Overall, this novel is a mix of strengths and flaws. It shines with its characters and combat, but stumbles in world-building, pacing, and plot consistency. If you're into chaotic fusion-world stories and don't mind overlooking some glaring issues, it's still an entertaining read.

4.3/5 A bit inconsistent, and some events randomly "happens"

PS: I bumped my score to 5 stars because, flaws and all, it's actually a lot of fun. The FL is a total c*ckroach, she's incredibly hard to kill, but not invincible.

Merry Christmas Everyone!🎅❄️🍪🌟🎉🍾🙏

Very interesting. I like the characters, I like the plot, and I like the vibes. MC transmigrates into a girl who is the villain in the story she transmigrated into. The problem is that the villain's backstory is that she is a lab rat essentially. Has a shock collar restricing freedom. Has to eat shitty food. Has to fight monsters to the death. Scientists experimenting with her, doing incredibly painful surgeries that are so painful that she forgets everything before the surgery. Really cool thing the writer did in this,... more>> they basically did the entire "oh no I transmigrated into a girls body who is the villain of bla bla bla" then she goes into an incredibly painful brain surgery. She forgets everything and when she wakes up, she goes "oh no I transmigrated into a girls body who is the villain of bla bla bla"

all in all, good vibes. <<less

Different reviews cover the premise, so I'll just say I'm liking the ride so far; what I'm mostly enjoying is the chaotic milling around of the clones. Other characters aren't aware of how her ability works at all, so there's this sense of slowly growing power behind the scenes as everyone else figures they have a grasp on things. Slight spoiler,

Spoiler

Shortly after the first arc MC dies, which triggers her power to develop from just making remote-controlled clones to becoming a sort of collective shared consciousness hivemind between them all. She is each clone, and each clone is her, so if any survives it just recreates the rest. They have individual recognition per clone so we start seeing slight trends developing, like #4 being a bit too quick about throwing herself into death to test things out and #7 being a bit quicker to have ideas.

Latest chapters have their network showing a downside, though, because they share thoughts and feelings things like depression and anxiety can spread across all of them and magnify really fast.

[collapse]

She basically has the opposite situation of Twice from MHA.
Spoiler

Instead of having existential worries about which one is MC and are they still MC, does it matter? If they are all functionally identical and identify as MC, what's the point in creating a distinction?

[collapse]
That was a concept I loved back with Kara no Kyoukai, and it's still good here.

I don't understand how GB is relevant to the plot in any way except to ride the wave of these cropping up lately. TL quality is great, very few errors. <<less
