Lin Dan is bound to an auxiliary system. She does tasks to maintain the plot of countless small worlds. Simply put, she is just a supporting role or cannon fodder, a stepping stone for others to achieve greatness.

Confusion, desperation, madness, loving who she can’t love, wanting what she can’t have: Lin Dan experienced too much loss and misery. When she finally achieved enlightenment and decided to unbind from the system and return to her original world, something interrupted her return journey and she was sent back into the three thousand worlds to continue struggling.

Although she lost her memory, Lin Dan was no longer confused. She decided to take her own path and finally discovered that she had to love herself before others could love her. As long as you live your life well, no matter how insignificant it seems, you will become a protagonist one day. If you bloom, the butterflies will naturally come.

The heroine doesn't have consistency in her character as she always start as blank with no memory and develop after encountering problem. The author sometimes make her unfeeling or make her can't be unfeeling, as their like, but personally, I think she always act like a robot. Also MC always a holy mother most of the time, helping people in need without even being asked and sometimes even sacrificing her well being. In contrast, she also always takes revenge after being plotted and most of the time, never has problem... more>> killing someone.

The weird thing is that sometimes she's oblivious of people feeling of her, mostly when there's multiple male leads in one arc, sometimes she's not oblivious.

It's also weird that even until chapter 268 even there was romance in some arc, but it feels like she never really falls in love, where in the first chapter she actually loves really hard until sacrificing herself. But there is always romance in every arc, there's always one or multiple men that likes her. The male lead of course usually the perfect one.

Also other than acting like a robot, people always depict her as a Deity without earthly desire, and as some review mentioned, she always pretty and most of every male lead in the arc likes her immediately first sight. Honestly the romance is boring because it feels like you force some male who is in love with a female who doesn't have romantic feelings most of the time. (Except some of the arc when she actually treated kindly and then get used to being together all the time i.e Miracle Doctor, Gu Girl are my favorite). When introducing the temporary male leads, the author also exaggerating male lead's perfectness. I can't count how many times author descript temp male lead beautiful voice and face in every arc. Like, I get it, but who cares? The male lead changes every arc anyway???

Some of the arc is bad some is good for me depends on how MC develop her relationship with others around her. From reading until Arc 8, I skipped Arc 1 and Arc 2 directly. There's a time skip in Arc 1 on when she's just starting to become chef journey, and the next chapter suddenly it's 10 years later and she's already professional, so I feel like I don't think I actually need to read Arc 1 at all.

Also every Arc ending is cut and never explain, so it's a weird experience really. <<less

Rather than a QT novel, and outside of the skills that get passed to each arc, it's better to see this as individual stories with an somewhat stoic MC that has a set of ethics she follows to decide what she wants to do at the start of the story. I think the moral of the story is to be true to yourself and don't lose your head over extreme emotions, especially love. Do onto others what you want done to you. We see a lot of the original FL... more>> falling into the pit and trying to be the best but failing and living a miserable life.

Each arc does have a ML that plays a starring role in the MC's story. In the beginning, which was my favorites, she didn't love them, but they chose to stay at her side anyway. Honestly, that was the most wholesome (my favorite being the cultivation arc / where the ML stood by her and travelled with her to accompany her). I really liked it up to the mother arc (I was getting uncomfortable starting at the apocalypse arc), but I ended up dropping it in the middle of the gold-digger girlfriend arc. I enjoyed it initially because it was relatively low romance, had a smart but hardworking MC and was a little trope subversive, but by the time I dropped it, Lin Dan had become extremely Mary Sue - a female character that could do literally every woman's art and cure everyone's illnesses without a logical backstory (but had one in the OG char settings). Further downsides are that most of the arcs are open-ended, they get stick to a formula of talk sh*t about the original story's Lin Dan and eat sh*t after new Lin Dan reveals she can actually do it. (One of the reasons I liked the story originally was that MC developed the original Lin Dan's skills to OPness but didn't make it outrageously obvious the original got replaced or couldn't have done it without Lin Dan outside her hardworking hard for it (ie. Ten years to develop chef's skills in arc 1, but ends up showing god tier sewing/medicine/cooking skills within the two months of entering the world despite "no memories").

They keep tr*shtalking western medicine and promoting Chinese medicine to a ridiculous degree. Weird point to promote that happens in multiple arcs. Her medical skills are my least favorite of her skills since it's "Oh, she's about to die - Lin Dan, can we do anything?" "Yes, golden needles/take this medicine." Patient recovers in X hours/days and is now a Lin Dan fan. Reading wise, very up and down, you can tell there are different translators throughout the translation: The last arc at present is really good translation, but at least a chunk chapters of the previous ones mixes up names and pronounces, and started saying "ya'll" instead of "you all"/formal version to the point of cringe such as when the empress was giving a speech (I kept imagining a rural farming town). Fortunately, it didn't last too long. MTL is a 3/5 on difficulty. Some hard, some easy.

All in all, great at the beginning (with some parts that are tedious and can be skipped). I honestly feel like you could just read a few arcs and then skip to the end because literally nothing other than skills are brought to the next. Last chapter was alright, about expected given all the reviews about the ending. Bad if you wanted a true romance ending. I think the white lotus got a just end. <<less

My impression coincides with capeSpirit's review. It is good that I am not alone. This novel opens up explosively in its prologue, but then becomes excruciatingly boring for several arcs after that.

The first arc about abnormally rare food, wine, chefs rivalry and one of a kind cooking was like eating sawdust, terrible each time it was actual passages about something to eat. There were a couple of poignant moments when the FL feeds normal people, migrant workers from the poor district of the capital with the foods from their hometowns,... more>> not princes and dukes, and when she talked about people eating soil to fill their stomachs during war (and that speech changed the course of history), but otherwise this unbearably long arc about exquisite culinary mastery was unpalatable. Because her heart was empty and stayed unattached and uncommitted, aimlessly roaming the earth. From there the novel just did not get any better.

Spoiler

The premise was great though for anyone interested in Buddhism I guess. The FL during cultivation (in prologue) achieves the level of nirvana, freedom from desires of the heart and of the body. A man whom she deeply loved and cared for for centuries non stop helped her achieve that ultimate release during their wedding ceremony and he no longer elicits any feelings in her. That was her ultimate freedom. Freedom from love and attachment to another human being (s).

The system granted her return to her original world after that. Which did not happen (because of that man who is now obsessed with getting her back even if it takes a million worlds and an eternity).

How does one live a life after that if your heart has no desires, no anger, no delusions and no attachments? Is there a happiness or any normalcy in the cards for a person like that?

Disappointment of the century. <<less

This is an open ending which is good or bad depending on one’s perspective. The overall tone of the QT is self-love, self-discipline despite being OP, and finding self-worth. I think some arcs are quite unique while some are typical niche. But there’d be some twist like for apocalypse arc, though MC was OP, it had nothing to do with being a water power as she remained low level till end of arc. It also wasn’t entirely because of her ‘hubby’. She had major advantage due to her strong soul... more>> power which is innate to her due to being a world hopper. So even with her low level water power she was able to maximize the strength she had. Plus all the maxed out fighting, medical, pharmacology skills she learned from her previous worlds.

MLs in the arcs wasn’t named if he was the same person but I feel like that’s what the author wants to imply.

i can’t explain much of how her hopping without a system happened because I only MTLed the novel but it seemed like from I can understand from the mtl was during her attempt to leave and unbind from her system (the first chap scene) the ML already self destructed and in turn affected the time and space in that world causing her to be unbinded but lost in small worlds as well as being sent a bit in the past.

I don’t know how to feel about the ML in the end. In the few last chapters, it seemed like MC said to herself that ML was always unresponsive to her feelings and has always told her that he had someone else in his heart and all they do in the worlds is to do the task. That his feelings for her is camaraderie like teammates and that it was also partly her fault for falling in love to the point of losing herself. If so I think both of them made a mistake and just try to take a step back and relearn themselves. But love has never had a scale, it’s always unreasonable. So it doesn’t matter even if one try to reason with it <<less

This is really a great book, on almost every arc the author really did a great job in it. Everything went in detail, I'm amazed on how resourceful this novel are. Usually with many type of world in one story everything will be brought out lightly, but not for this one. Either c*cking, medical, army, clothing, ect. The author able to present the story with deep knowledge on every arc. It might not go as the full one story novel goes but this is already amazing for me personally. Kudos... more>> for the author.

Sadly the translation only up until chapter 149 while there is still 400 or so chapter in total. I hope to be able to read it until finish.

Thank you for the translator too, your translation is amazing 😍.

⚠️ Just a simple reminder better to not reading any spoiler, you really will miss out the joy of the reading this book. It's worth for you to read it slowly. <<less

As it is the case with many quick transmigration novels, there are great interesting moving arcs, there are mediocre arcs, and there are way below average arcs, and the biggest disadvantage of this story is that it ends on the incredibly rushed and emotionally empty arc. Even though it should've been the most impactful, stimulating and cathartic part of the story.

It was just meh all ten chapters, and ended rather abruptly. The only moving moment was the sacrifice, and it lasted only a few paragraphs.

Many other arcs were still interesting... more>> and emotional, so I do recommend them (my favorite was the post-apocalyptic arc), but maybe erase the last arc from your memory after you finish reading it, as to not soil the aftertaste. <<less

Some of the arcs were very good and refreshing. Lin Dan's personality is very unique and hardworking. Also, I liked that there is no particular ML and she does things her way.

Few of the arcs were bit boring and stretched out but overall a good read.

Just finish reading the 2nd arc and really want to write a review just cause I'm loving this so much.

This novel is really heartwarming so far & I love every min of it. MC is a totally awesome independent woman w/ high IQ & EQ. She is what a real MC is suppose to b, unlike those girlies who only know how to humiliate themselves to hug thighs or those idiot girls who r so stuck up on their empty pride. Our MC has real self-respect, good morals, unbendable self-discipline... more>> & iron willpower. The MLs (or potential MLs) r awesome, sweet, rational & realistic beings w/ high IQ & EQ so far. This doesn't concentrate on romance. In BL terms, it's more like shounen ai themed where the leads hav a good relationship & in some arcs they r together but never really get together. Seeing them is like having an itch that'll never b scratched but u enjoy seeing them anyway even if u don't usually like to read romance.

I enjoyed the journey & the endings of each arc r satisfying even if it leaves me w/ a bit of a frustrating itch LOL

Thank you Translator-sama for bringing us such a heartwarming & wonderful novel. <<less

I am absolutely loving this series so far! It's very refreshing in that the main character, Lin Dan, does not give a *damn* about romance and does *not* need to rely on hugging some "male god's" golden thigh to achieve her goals (which always vary and are very interesting) in whatever world she's in. Lin Dan is honestly kind of a perfect Mary Sue-type... but she's also incredibly fun to read about and her brand of perfection is more about being super self-controlled and competent than charming/beautiful. In fact, she's... more>> expressly said to be fairly ordinary but good looking in most arcs, which is so nice to read after way too many novels where the author basically can't stop orgasming from the female lead's beauty.

Anyway, if you want to read about the interesting adventures of a super-clever and competent woman who don't need no man in order to achieve her goals, this is the story to read. This is such a fun, refreshing read! <<less

i really liked it! lin dan's journey to self-discovery was interesting and moving. I actually cried a few times when reading, which took me by surprise!

but! but, the author doesn't write endings. every ending left much to be desired, but the final ending? I am sobbing! what happened at the end? where's the male lead? who is the male lead? was there even a male lead, or did lin dan fall in love with different people along her journey? I need answers, answers that the book doesn't provide.

even then, I... more>> still really liked it! I liked that every arc had something new and unique! there was an arc where lin dan was a gu master! she was also a embroiderer in another, a mother, a war goddess, a model empress... loved reading it! the main character was overpowered, but it was nice reading about how she learnt to be a person unbounded by her own limitations. she grew up and finally arrived to the end she most longed for.

I'm giving it full marks because it moved me. I laughed and cried reading this novel. it's been a long time since I enjoyed a novel so. it was really good!

thank you to the translators! <<less

a review for my future self to look back on, completely subjective:

unsatisfying endings. Your heart will ache for more. Just when things turn around for the MC and where other novels would continue to write about how the MC and ML are living happily together and end the world in love, with a neatly tied resolution, the author says f*ck it and moves on. Truly a novel focusing wholeheartedly on career and not romance. The male lead is actually surprisingly likeable, for all that he is not perfect. He is... more>> usually tolerant, understanding, and devoted - although sometimes he has to taste regret and guilt before he is enlightened. He gives strong 2nd male lead vibes, which is probably why I like him so much.

favorite arcs were the cooking, medicine, and the first cultivation arc (and maybe the fashion designer one). Despite the lack of resolution, the author's no nonsense way of moving on with the plot really is satisfying for someone who is just looking for entertainment. Nothing is dragged out too long, no face slapping is too vulgar and overdone, and every cliche is tastefully written. The author is quick to cut ties and move on from arcs, which is a blessing and a curse. <<less

Hm... How should I start? Considering the large number of world-hopping/quick wear transmigration novels I have read in the past, it is rare that I actually enjoyed reading every arc. Oftentimes, I find myself wanting to skip a whole arc because it gets boring with these kinds of novels. But that was not the case here. I actually liked every arc for what they were. Although, I have to admit that some arcs were a bit ridiculous... ... more>>

*cough*the model arc*cough*

[collapse]

As for characters, I really liked the Fl. She in a way could be considered a sociopath or at least have some disassociation disorder which is actually why I like her because we seem to be a bit similar in that aspect, the disassociation/disconnectedness in some emotional areas I mean, not the sociopath thing... As she isn't really ruled by emotions her actions are rather rational, perfect for face-slapping people. But she does learn to care for others and to love, even if her love doesn't seem as deep as the MLs'. Not a loss in my eyes.

Either way, I also liked how the skills she learned in each world stay relevant in the later arcs. It's like a red thread that connects each arc to make the whole story coherent. The ending didn't disappoint either. It was different from the many other novels I have read so yeah, I am satisfied. <<less

In some arcs the FL gets her ML pair but in some she is like a lone wolf. But this does not make any arc bland, instead there is a satisfaction on completion of an arc because all elements of face slapping of the white lotus, of bastard egoistical males, happy ending for her family, etc. Is included. Overall it is a good read.

For starters it is included with an useless system again.

If you think about it, the system thing usually is just looking for free agent that can be thrown at any times considering the difficulty of task and failure equal annihilate.

So the background story is our MC finally can unbind the system with two choice of return to her original world which she already forgotten or immigrate to a higher world.

... more>> But her immigration suddenly denied where the system don't have access to it.

So just return and left all the bad things behind, got involved in turbulence sh*t and lost memory (which is super unnatural).

What I can say is DAFUQ. While other boss-level agent world hopping solving task with prop or their talent accumulated in several world. Our MC was forced to live like solving task in several world while her memory is manipulated I guess, each world she was made to forgot her memory in the world before.

However I see it at this progress, I don't want agree with the male lead whoever he is, or whichever identity he taking in each of MC journey. (I have a feeling male lead also lived as an important character on MC each world hopping, ex: 1st world - young marquis, 2nd world - Bai Yan/emperor Yun, 3rd world - Ding Mujie or King Zhuang) <<less

I really love this novel, love the idea of independent woman of MC. In some arcs it did not have ML, MC can survive by her own ability, she relied on herself more than relied on a man to help her. Love the ending that she finally get her freedom as she wish.
