The weird thing is that the author dedicated the first 700 chapters spanning one year in the novel to the disastrous love lives of several Chinese Lolitas, girls as young as 9-12 years old and more vicious than you can imagine. The FL Gu Xiaowan is 8, her cousin Gu Xintao who opens the novel by killing the OG is 10, and her neighbour Gui's two little daughters are 11 and 12. They are all coveted by much older boys and men. An enormous chunk of the novel is spent on their stories and, even more so, on the far-reaching and deadly consequences of their behaviors.

Even though there is a "Farmer Girl" in its title, there is practically no farming in the first couple of years (800+ chapters) of this novel. The kids had three mu of land but never farmed them, they were 2, 4 and 6 y.o. When their parents died. After transmigration, the FL made ends meet by hunting-gathering-fishing and selling recipes to restaurants, opening her own hot pot chain of restaurants, designing a new packaging line for pastries and cosmetics (small boxes woven from bamboo and colorful threads), designing cute embroidery for handkerchiefs and silk dolls which her youngest sister makes for sale.
