I actually adore this novel so much. The MC is sensible and strong. ML is absolutely non toxic and lovable. Their relationship up till what I've read is beautiful.

Good story!! Especially the first half where MC (gong, College student) is struggling financially. Life is really cruel to him... He's upright, principled and hard working (molded due to hardship). I love this novel so much. The main pair's interaction and relationship development are good. It had me crying at some parts and I actually admire their relationship. It particularly showed Shao Ming Wei's growth and faced common issues among people with large age gaps. It is fluffy and romantic it made me feel love as well. I just wish I was able to read the fanwei. Will just wait for some translations to pop-up haha!

Meh - it's okay. 3-3.5 stars. There's not much story and the smut is just one chapter in the second half of the book. The novel could have been a lot shorter since nothing much happens. The MC struggles a tiny bit with being bend by the ML, even though it's obvious from the beginning that he's super attracted to him. The characters don't have much personality and I wouldn't call them interesting, but they're okay. Pretty typical young gong who's nice but acts a bit possessive (like 99% of... more>> danmei gongs) and a coquettish, meeker and more feminine-looking shou (like 99% of shous in danmei). Nothing really sticks out in this story, the romance is smooth sailing all the way and it's almost a little exaggerated how much the shou is in love with the gong from the beginning. Had hoped that this would be similar to The Bird and the Golden Cage due to the title, but it never becomes a sugar dating relationship, the MC is just briefly an escort but of the modest kind who never has s*x with the customers. So quite tame. It's a sweet story though, and a quick read, it's not bad in any way, just kind of forgettable. Good enough if you want to read a sweet romance about a 100% harmonious and healthy relationship that never encounters any problems and doesn't take long to finish. <<less
