Giorg, the Marquis of Zafing, has been treated coldly by his family.

His mother had died five years ago, and his father had remarried soon after. He had a younger brother, Leon, who was the same age as him, so it was obvious that his father was having an affair.

He treated Giorg poorly and only loved his stepmother and half-brother.

One day, after five years of Giorg’s mistreatment. Fiona, the Countess, Giorg’s fiancée, announces that she is breaking off the engagement, and Leon stands beside her with a disgusted smile on his face.

“I will take your fiancée.”

“I will not marry an incompetent like you.”

These were the words of two people who had not the slightest sense of guilt. Giorg did not show any anger when he was insulted, but when he heard some words, he ordered his subordinates without hesitation.

What was his order?

“Seize these two”‘

From there, Giorg started his turn to fight back.

I'm honestly impressed there are so many positive reviews for this novel! Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe people just have a better head for the chaos in this novel. The novel starts off right in the middle of action - we're introduced to 10-15 characters and all their tangled relationships (husband/wife, siblings, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, person A sending money to person B via person C, person D acting in proxy to person E because E is living a luxurious life with person F, etc.), and we're expected to follow a... more>> heated debate between all these characters shouting at each other. Think the movie "Knives Out, " except with no backstory scenes and only the shouting and the trial scenes. The novel proceeds at this pace until the end, and although the characters separate around c10 so you can finally distinguish who's who, you'll get introduced to another 10-15 characters by the end and lots of new complicated relationships to puzzle with.

The novel also messes with politics and ages as it pleases. I get that the MC is justified in his charges, but his actions are so utterly unrealistic for his age that nothing in the novel makes sense.

Spoiler
  • The MC's family apparently runs a secret ninja clan who (a) isn't technically loyal to their family because he comments constantly about the possibility of them betraying him, and (b) has infiltrated almost all the major noble family households in positions that'll let them kill every noble as they please.
  • The MC, at the age of 11, somehow had the mental faculty to (a) find documents about how his family poisoned his mother that none of the royal investigators were able to find, (b) ask his servants to treat him harshly so his family won't suspect him (while also somehow winning their loyalty away from the lord they've served for a dozen plus years), (c) filed documents to the royal court that would strip his father's nobility when the MC turns 16 (plus getting them approved, plus somehow preventing anyone from mentioning them to his father until the day).
  • One of the count families suddenly produces some brilliant son, Albert, who illegally filed to boot his father out of office (before the novel's events even took place, for some reason?) and generally treats his family like tr*sh as soon as he gets power. Apparently, Albert was completely happy and friendly before the novel, because all his family is shocked when Albert starts badmouthing them, banishing them from the family history, or selling off their land without their permission.

If there's any takeaway I can get from this novel, it's just that the royal court just stamps whatever paperwork comes their way, whether it's forged or from an 11-year old. There are way more plot holes, but I think this gives the general gist on why I'm confused at all the positive reviews. But you do you, maybe try it out for yourself? <<less

A short and sweet revenge story. Making it a short story is smart and a good choice since MC's journey and rise to power was already done from the start of the story and the whole novel is just him executing his revenge and I have no problem with that. Just trying to stall the revenge or continue after it would just milking the novel at that point.

While my rating is 4/5, the revenge would be 5/5 after just googling what MC did to them and knowing how justified it... more>> is. <<less

The writing and logic is great. Though I sure wish this isn't just a short revenge story, the whole story could've been a good introduction for a bigger picture. It's very good if this were a longer story but as a short story, it's a bit lacking in emotional depth and background.

Even so it's still a decent revenge story where MC follow the law and logic to get revenge. MC was also only suffered in the past and the first chapter is basically the start of MC's revenge, so no... more>> need to worry about MC being bit*h around by enemies. It's about a calm revenge.

I rate it 4/5.

It's a bloody story about revenge basically, not much to say here. It's a refreshing change of pace since I always read face slapping CN romance transmigration/reincarnation or whatnot, but I kinda like the ending where it's wrapped up, I guess.

The characters other than MC is not having of much development, considering it's a pretty short story. But I guess it's still passable. I don't know, might as well need another opinion.

If you want sweet REVENGE without the bitter drama in front of all, then this story is for you.

The whole ordeal is already over and the last stone of his enemies is cast in the first chapter and after that it is one slap, after the the next curb stomp, to the realization of in what deep trouble they are in before they notice not only they but their whole families are now at the mercy of the protagonist with no way of escape other than blind obedience.

Spoiler

To be fair only 5 people die in the whole Scenario, while one is a flashback, one is just mentioned, one is off screen sentenced and only two are gruesomely put to justice. For a Revenge story with a rather vengeful Protagonist who is the leader of an espionage and assassin caste, he finds other ways to ruin lives.

- this is a grand finale of something bigger. So it would be better with at least a few chapters prior - like, TPV of MC's life for a week before the start of events. Couple of chapters with slightest hints of what to happen soon, but not obvious ones. Some desperate and depressing mudpool of abandoned and neglected child, and mysterious gazes of servants around him, something like that.

Still, this is to my liking. Revenge, cruel and calculated, but well deserved. I mark it as 5. <<less

Honestly, this was pretty good. The author didn't drag it out nor did he shy away from anything. It was short and simple. A good revenge story that doesn't drag everything out.
