Kleio is just like any other lazy shounen MC that ends up getting the attention of others. I normally like MCs like this, but its a little boring with how convenient everything comes to him (taking advantage of knowing the book and making bank off it) and catches everyone's attention as he says he doesn't like. Not to mention its just weird how he doesnt actually think like how a burnt-out 30 year old worker would. His only two personality traits are being lazy and being an alcoholic (he drinks wine as if its water and it comes up every paragraph). I dont think the author fleshed him out enough.

[collapse]
tldr: boring, hypocritical, plot armor

Dione

Spoiler

Shes supposed to be mc's senior by 5 years, but she's basically his lap dog/shuttle boy. While she's super capable and never incompetent, she has little personality outside of doing errands for MC. She acts like kleio's personal cheerleader, and she is in constant awe of everything kleio does. Its boring and she lacks personality outside of being money-hungry because of her unstable magic business.

[collapse]
tldr: one-dimensional, tutorial-fairy personality/dynamic, annoying

Plot development

Spoiler

So much plot development happens in every chapter, but theres not a lot of substance. An event-packed day can pass in a single paragraph. What im saying is, kleio went from being a level 2 wizard to a level 4 wizard within 2 weeks, but those two weeks were described in less than 2 paragraphs. For reference, theres only ~30 wizards on the continent that are level 4 or something like that, and only one level 8 wizard on the continent.

[collapse]

Yes the plot is dense with many events, but there is almost never a peaceful moment. I wish the author spent more time on each scene and fleshed out character interactions more, because its so boring just moving from scene to scene as a linear sequence of events. It also doesnt feel like there are any real threats to the MC or any consequences of their actions. Author is somehow speedrunning isekai while dragging the story out to the 400s+. The story feels more like its written as a script for a proper novel.

tldr: novel reads like a diary and lacks prose, making many scenes fall flat and lose impact.

im still reading this story only bcuz I have caught up on my other series. The story isnt terrible, it just fails to stay interesting after ~30 chapters. ive decided to drop this story because it barely stayed in my memory after a couple months when I went back to pick up where I left off. <<less

The novel started a little slow, I wasn't sure where they were going. The MC reminds me of tr*sh of the Counts Family, but I like him better. After about a dozen chapters I got a lot more invested in it, and am willing to see where this is going.

The MC gets pulled in a book that he's read and given some minor powers. The version he is in has unkown changes baked in already from what he last read, so it is not a perfect foreshadowing. He wants to... more>> live a carefree life but the Author's will seems to be against it. Surprisingly MC seems to make peace with this somewhat and tries to better his situation as well as he can instead of obstinately doing the same 'rail against fate' you usually see.

The MC is relatively grounded as far as these novels go, it is funny enough to keep me engaged, and the translation quality is pretty good. Someone mentioned MTL level work, and I just don't see it. There are small mistakes (ironically could maybe use a better editor) but perfectly enjoyable. <<less

I have to say that when I first started to read this book I was if-y on it to say the least! But now I am so happy that I started reading this. So thank you so much that this was picked up!

SO without any further ado......

The MC is really human at least to me bc he has so much potential but is so lazy that it is practically going to waste in his hands. But it also shows you that he is willing to move for the sake of... more>> what he wants to do and those he wants to protect.

Spoiler
[collapse]
Like really MC has the best of the best magic sensitivity a person can have and he's just like... well instead of working hard I want to live easy! Which I totally on board with. Which is nice to see that even when he should be overpowered it's off set with the fact that all he wants to do is lounge around. But when someone he does like seems like they will be in trouble or get hurt he goes through the effort to protect them!

Spoiler
[collapse]
Another aspect that I like is that even though the MC is in a seventeen year old body he acts like the old man that he is! And that everyone always says that he's an old soul. I like it bc he is not trying to act like a hero and an energetic teenage that he is supposed to be. But only takes action when the things he cares for are in trouble. It really shows his age and why he is so lazy ;}

I also like that this book seems to move more around the relationships of the characters in the book and that side characters are given their own back story and have a life of there own. So its not like they follow the Prince simply bc they do but that they have a valid reason to do so.

Spoiler
[collapse]
Also the reason that Arthur goes through so much trouble to get the MC on his side is funny. But when he told the MC that if he had gone to one of his brother instead he would have to assassinate him and that would have made him sad so he was happy the MC came to him was just down right funny! The poor MC was like WHAT!?!?!??!

I have to say one the biggest reasons I was so attracted to this novel was bc it has more bromance than romance and I am a big sucker for close friendships! There is also no harem which is nice given that almost all the time the MC always ends up with one. <<less

This novel is definitely one of my favorites. There's no harem, just pure friendship with other characters. I love how the MC is OP but lazy, while still being meticulous in his own way. I have no qualms with the writing and translation (since active translation is doing it!!).

Yeah, some readers will inevitably be bored during the first 20 or so chapters, but please be patient!! Kleio will gain his motivation after chapter 30.

I'm giving this a 5/5 because I love Behemoth the cat

Novel follows a character that tries to be irrelevant to the whole political mumbo-jumbo but sadly gets inserted due to his gift. Until where I've read the political aspect is not so much blatant and its more of a introductory to the rules, environment, characters and the relationships. First dozen of chapters are slow but well drawn out and its only gets better later on after major characters join in and its fun reading how MC interacts with them.

We follow a character with a major potential that quickly gets recognized... more>> by people around him that shapes the future events. MC chooses to build his wealth rather than solely focus on cultivating his power which is big + for me and although MC has the greatest potential it is somewhat balanced by his equally lazy demeanor and lackluster reaction towards being a authoritative individual. Think its a good find. <<less

Really like this one. The novel has solid world building, non redundant writing, well written MC and villains (It's hard to really hate Aslan and Melchior, despite all the morally bad things they've done, after all they're kinds of "forced" and you can say that they're dealt shitty hand by fate. I'm not condoning them, but it's objectively really hard to stay sane and good in their situation).

The story may start slow with the whole school settings, but really the school timeline is the only rather peaceful time in this... more>> novel, after that the pace pick up considerably. And compared to the other web novel, this one is not that light in terms of character development and bondings.
Twist:
Spoiler

In the chapter I'm in (the lastest one at the time of this review) Kleio and one of the Angelium twin sided (actually more like Kleio use his name) with Melchior, and in opposition with Arthur's team. And it's not just a ploy, both Kleio and Arthur think that they're doing the right things.

[collapse]

MC character:
Spoiler

At early chapters, Kleio sounds like your typical lazy, ironically self sacrificing MC. Well at the lastest chapter he still is self sacrificing, but now Kleio seems to believe that it's his role and destiny (besides his own willingness) to preserve and save Arthur and the world, even at the price of his own life. Which of course, his mindset doesn't go well with arthur. I personally like his character development, he might not be positively optimistic MC, but for me it makes him more likeable and give depth to his character. I also likes his relationship dynamics with Arthur, Celeste, Fran, and... Melchior, which are quite different to each others.

Its a meh novel.

Not bad to relieve my boredom. But not good enough to make me care if I stop reading the novel halfway.

... more>> What happen if Orv is combine with tr*sh of count family ? THIS

An editor one day woke up to be inside a novel he read before and was told to help edit. He has the ability to edit the novel but whether it was accepted by the author is a different point. He was in a tr*shy but rich character that died on the first chapter without a name. Just like normal people, his dream was to escape the military service, and spend his days filled with luxuries. however the novel doesn't let him.

He was forced to be part of the novel. And despite being overpowered in some sense, he went through way too much hardship and still fail to enjoy his benefit. He was being forced and pushed by every character which tic me off.

The plot itself is filled with mystery but in a situation where it hids too much... im not even interested in finding out who's the author.

Overall its a good read if im bored. I would try to read it again if im bored <<less

I really really really love this novel omg. The MC is reminds me a lot of Cale from TCF, though he’s different of course. The story sequence just has a way of making everything exciting to read and makes me look forward to the next chapter - which sucks because I’ve caught up with the translations and now I gotta wait for the next set of chapters. I like that the MC is powerful but not overly so - there are different power levels and while it’s obvious he’s gonna... more>> reach there eventually, right now he is aware of his own limits and knows better than to pick a fight he can’t win.

the only issue I have with the translation thus far is that it gets hard to tell who is speaking at times because of the lack of names attached to the sentence. Some scenes it’s easier to figure out but at some parts I get a bit confused.

overall I think this is a really great and underrated novel. I’m surprised that it’s been flying under the radar so much when it definitely deserves more recognition. <<less

Dropped on ch 53

The story is kinda cool and all, but it is hard to understand characters because the people who talk in conversation is vague (Up till last chapter I read I just randomly guess who talk on each conversations). And MC is alcoholic, which I kind of dislike it

Look this is a great novel, very well written too. It reminds me of tr*sh of the count family because of the political settings and the world wars.

It is also very fun to read, is not heavy or something you grown tired of.

The characters are great too, they all have reason to act and are not mindless things that act on felling like in cultivation novels.

It's a world of magic and science so it's interesting.

It's actually funny how some reviews are breaking the novel and MC with the 25 first chapters.

Just looking at the tags, you surely know that we have seen nothing in those 25 chapters. It's just introducing MC powers and the current state of the world. As for MC personnality.. Well it's not absolute tr*sh either. What i'll say next is a spoil, but also the big difference with usual ' transported to game/novel/another world'. Read at your own risk

Spoiler

Here it's a novel's world. Author-nim (at least from what we know) has corrected it a few times (7/8). MC power is to re-write the novel, that is to say, the world he is in now. Author-nim has to agree though. Author-nim wants MC to be with his novel's MC. Here you can say it's OP yeah, but it's a decent story. The little plus is that novel's MC feels the effect of the world having been corrected a few times, and the characters of the novel's world are impacted by it too.

Oh btw, it's active translation doing the work. So it's very nice to read it. <<less

as far as it goes for the plot and world bulldog it's alright. The MC is another one of those "stay aways" from the plot but fails and gets dragged into it anyways. However I really like the relationships between the MC and other characters especially between Kleio and Arthur. I can't really think of a specific reason why the relationships between the characters stood out to me I just really like how the author built the friendships between the characters.

ooh and even though there's a lot of unexplained things... more>> in the world building I like the fact how the author adds in Greek mythology into the novel :) <<less

Don't be discouraged by the lower ratings, the story has a bit of a slow start but has a very well-developed and captivating plot. Keep in mind that for typical stories with extras, they are usually granted powers that make them major players in the plot, but are not too overpowered because they still need to support and be supported by the real MC of the story. Don't go into it expecting some OP levels like Overlord.

There's really nothing outstanding about this novel, just your typical MC who transmigrated to a novel and knows what would happen, the same twists too, things happened earlier.

The MC ain't likeable, but I also don't hate him. He's just really lazy and just wants to enjoy life, but the situations won't let him. I guess the thing I dislike about him is he whines way too often, it gives a bad taste to his accomplishments when he ends up complaining all throughout.

The setting is barely mentioned, and it was it's... more>> confusing. I already got to ch 74, yet there's really no reason for me to read this anymore. It's at that point where it feels like a chore and doesn't excite me anymore. <<less

TLDR, interesting read, a very flawed MC but not in the territory of psycho and edgy, weak business and politics, weak characterization on the non main characters from the novel.

Mmm, pretty nice, the MC only cares about money and alcohol, and he doesn't shy away from abusing the power that the unknown being forced on him... to make more money.

... more>> He also seems pretty spiteful to the one who sent him to the novel world and has no heroic aspiration so it's pretty nice to read.

The MC isn't a 'genius' or planner kind of MC, he's pretty bad, average person who hasn't achieved much on his previous life, most of his acts was done on whims and he doesn't magically remember every detail that gives him advantage and acts on it, his memory skill basically just save pages and let him re read it when he need it.

He doesn't immediately enter training arc and he's lazy. nor does he think of anything at grand scale. He has no sense of urgency in obtaining power, which is actually not that unrealistic for a modern man, I mean who doesn't magically gets a very bright idea to become a superhuman psychopath the moment they got isekaied??

He tried to take the path of moneymaking because he has the starting capital and put his magic study on the side, unless the situation requires him to level up then he won't do shit. He's actually also s*upid at negotiation and business, if it wasn't done well by his almighty assistant, then he'll probably botch it by himself.

Some people might hate this novel for the MC alone though, calling him unreal and badly written just because he isn't a big brain genius psychopath who plots for 400 chapters ahead and don't do hyperbolic time chamber training 5 minutes after entering new life.

The MC is pretty detached from the world itself, occasionally questioning the fate that each character will have to face, the partiality of the god (author), the identity of the author, and the actual role he has to take and whether he's actually important or not. The only thing that currently keeps him hooked to this world because how easy this life would be if he succeeded in securing the main protag fate.

Putting the MC characteristics aside, most of the supporting characters were pretty boring, except for the original protag and the original villain. Most of the dialogues with the cast who are not the protag/villain were so simplistic that my monkey brain skimmed through most of them. There doesn't seem to be any harem candidate yet, though there are these annoying twins that keep sticking to him.
Spoiler

There were also hints that he might be related with this world god (author) prior to this novel event.

[collapse]

In general, I find this novel pretty refreshing, even when the business/political aspect were pretty weak, and the dialogue with the non important character was so bot like, at least there's no K-drama moment. <<less

it's hard to know who's talking.

Arthur has a good and strong personality to be the MC of the story but I was more impressed with Melchior but in the end he got tired of regression and gave up on human life.
Clayo at the beginning of the chapter is lazy but the more chapters go by the better he is

I think mc's goal is similar with TFCF's MC wanting to be a slacker yet not being able to accomplish that wish as everyone around him is misunderstanding his intentions in the beginning. But that's all, there are no more similarities between these two as each of them is unique in plot, word building, and characters
So, MC gradually has assimilated into the story as story continues to change from the original, and he finds the beauty of the world in midst of power struggles between princes while starting to... more>> influence the history to change. We still haven't found the definite villain because everyone has their own issues and struggles, and seemed to have a legit reason to be doing things they are doing.

While similar in premise to other light novels I felt this was a chore to read.

First, what I enjoyed. The magic system is cool, really cool (swords were less interesting). It's interesting how magicians are perceived due to the limitations of this hard magic system (using famous quotes is inspired).

I couldn't find entertainment in pretty much everything else. The story is mostly about setup, they won't tell you about the plot and instead prepare constantly while keeping you in the dark. However unlike say "The tr*sh Count" I wasn't interested... more>> enough in the characters to justify reading. I found myself waiting for the next magic/battle and slogging through everything else. The worldbuilding is as generic as it comes and the politics were boring.

I think certain people will enjoy the novel but it wasn't for me. Other reviews say it picks up in the later chapters. <<less
