Six months ago, tens of thousands of black phantom towers appeared all over the world, floating above the cities. Chemists, physicists, religious people… all of them could do nothing.

Six months later, people became used to the towers and no longer paid them attention.

One day, Tang Mo saw a flying insect crash into it instead of going through it. The next day, a sharp and clear child-like voice issued an announcement to all humans.

“Ding dong! November 15th, 2017. The earth is online.”

The black tower’s three iron-clad rules:

1. Everything is explained by the black tower.

2. 6 o’clock to 18 o’clock is the game time.

3. All players, please strive to attack the tower.

A rare gem that has both BL and action survival. It's first of that kind that I have ever read and I was quite impressed by how the story was. Try it, you won't regret it.

Ding Dong! November 15th, 2017. The Earth Is Online!

Oh my God. Okay. Breathe In, Breathe Out.

How to start this review?

The Earth is Online is a book that will definitely stay on my brain for a long period of time. The plot is incredibly rich and I can't count how many times it blew my mind. The clever writing is outstanding.
This is not the first story I read by this author, I once read a manhua based in one of her novels - I wasn't a big fan. This book, however, has me shower the author with praises. The biggest compliment I can give Mo Chen Huan is that she's terribly smart.

Each character in this book is incredibly smart (some more than others but even the ones considered to be 's*upid' aren't really that s*upid) so for the writer to be able to write them... wow.

This book is an unlimited flow apocalypse novel where players (humans) are forced to play games agaisn't the Black Towers and their monsters. Each game is complex and we follow Tang Mo through his adventures. He is an extremely smart character (who gets even smarter along the novel) but he is not overpowering. None of the main characters are op. They are strong, yes, especially the love interest, but they aren't undefeatable and they struggle a lot agaisnt certain opponents.

The Black Tower is a phenomenon that appeared on Earth and all players must attack it. There are 7 attack floors which means there are 7 levels of tower attack games. However, these aren't the only games. There are various types of black towers games, all of which have different difficulty levels. It's super interesting to see these differences and watch the players evolve. What was in the beginning of the book terrifying for them wasn't more than a small anoyance later on. I won't delve more into this since this is a spoiler-free review.

This isn't a book that is to be read lightly, it is a book where you must pay attention in order to understand what's going on.
Don't do it like me - oftentimes I read it from 11pm to 3am so I had to re-read some scenes in order to get it. Tang Mo often ends up explaining his thought process to other characters (so the reader ends up having an explanation) but I find it a lot of fun to follow the character's thoughts as they try to solve things.

Now, as for the main couple, if you're in it for their relationship I'll have you know this is a slow burn. There's some pining and tons of ust but things don't truly develop until the last few 50 or so chapters. There's around 120-130 chapters with little to no romantic development between them.

The story is plot heavy and it is the main focus.

However, futang are one of my fav cps ever.
They have this tacit understanding that is constantly highlighted, they truly care for each other and they work perfectly together. Their tacit understanding even reflects in how they approach their feelings towards each other.
They're not one of those overly sweet couples but their eye contact moments and overall dynamic has me rolling around my bed giggling. They're great.
One thing I really like about this book is that you learn to love them individually and then as a couple. Trust me, you will adore the love insteret not only because of his realtionship with the main character but because he is such a special and charming person.

Overall, The Earth Is Online is an apocalypse survival novel with an incredible complexity of games and a side of slow burn romance. Its characters are super interesting and valuable, not only the MC and ml, but including the side characters. Each side character has such an important role and it's so interesting to watch it develop. This doesn't really happen until the 100th chapter or so but from that point onwards both new and old side characters play very important roles.

About the rating: this is a clear 9/10 for me. However, novel updates doesn't allow half stars (4.5 stars in this case) so 5 stars it is ^^

I don't know what more to say about this, I really don't. Just... READ IT. If you're wondering whether or not it is worth 240 chapters + 5 extras - it is. I spent almost a month reading it and I do not regret a single second. It was so worth it. Now excuse me as I go and try to re-grow my fried braincells ~

A lot of people like this but man for me it’s one word boooooring!!!

I tried reading it twice, and both times I drop it.

The story idea and concept is good but I think it’s the way the author writes gosh so boring to the point where I force my self through the few chapters I read.

Spoilers!

Damn this is everything I ever wanted without me knowing? Read it during exams as a lifeline and it will continue to be my lifeline

Cons:

... more>> -Translation has some frequent errors from time to time. It didn't make it hard to read but it's very noticable and I had to fill in the blank and guess what some sentences means. It's not perfect but you can pull through it, it doesn't appear every chapter

-Some instances and games are hard to follow up on sometimes. Theres some that are quite complex and it took me a while to finally get it. However no game/instance ends without you not understanding, sometimes you only understand it near the end.

Pros:

-The author does not underestimate the readers- they don't treat you like someone dumb so you get ample rewards in thinking while reading; idk how u describe it but because its complex, if you pay attention to understand the rules and the characters along with what they say, you can catch up and its oh so worth it

-The romance is so well written, it's like that one fanfic that's a slowburn with 100k+ words with a dynamic and plot that just hits the spot. Duotang has to be one of my favourite cps. I can't even put it all into words. Since they do focus on surviving the games more often, they don't really focus much on the romance but it's still there and it's rewarding. It feels like a shounen manga but it's bl.

-You'd fall for the characters, even Li Wen one of the most insignificant minor character in the novel dies off screen and YOU KNOW it's gonna happen, you get kind of sad? I think it has something to do with being really into the headspace of Tang Mo when reading (props to the author for that). He's also such a good MC, with his backstory you'd think he'd fall into them stereotypical closed off emo MCs but hes far from it. Then theres Bai Ruoyao. You will hate him. You really will. But then he dies and-- you feel weird. Then just like the characters in the story, you realized that s*upid fly integrated into your life and you're genuinely sad about him being dead. Even characters that were once 'antagonists' of the story or those who get introduced late becomes lovable.

-Male lead isn't shit! Treats Tang Mo right with no red flag but his character isn't just about being a simp. He has substance.

-Very good world-building and the pace is just right. The romance may be a slowburn but it never felt too dragged out.

tldr; It has one of the best reads I had ever had in a good while. A type of novel that after reading many mid novels and come across this one, you'd realize that you struck gold. <<less

Baby's first review, and it's for TEIO. As an unabashed unlimited flow/instance clear lover, this shouldn't be a surprise.

I will say that I blew through this novel in a matter of days after I passed the hurdle of the first few chapters, so I'll admit it's addicting.

So first, the positives:

I loved the setup. As one will quickly realize, the story makes copious use of academic topics and cultural references that give the scenarios a lot of flavor. I find it more fun than your typical horror imagery and gives it... more>> this lovely, macabre, Alice in Wonderland feeling to it.

Effective use of Chekhov's gun: I enjoyed the little callbacks and details that string through the story. Some of them may feel a bit deus ex, but the fact that the seed was planted so many chapters before makes it fall into place in a more acceptable way.

The characters.

Spoiler

Full transparency: I stopped reading for the main characters about halfway through or so. Tang Mo, our MC, is kind of fun in a very specific way-- he's just a guy with a strong sense of self and an increasingly weary acceptance of all the bullsh*t surrounding him. More on him later. HOWEVER. The others were just so much more compelling to me. I loved instance boss Cinderella (Wang Xiaotian) and her ridiculous game show setup. I loved the kids who, despite everything, were still kids. Fu Wensheng, who despite being clever, was still silly and naive. The 'little fatty ' from the middle school as well. But the spies, Mu Huixue and Bai Ruoyao, took the f*cking cake. There was something especially raw about them-- a humanity, a lack of humanity, and pure desperation under all that to /live/... they're exactly the kinds of characters that make a survival novel shine.

[collapse]

Now, everything else.

One thing I wish was for the loose ends to be tied up more neatly. Of course, the characters are not omniscient and it wouldn't make sense for them to know everything about the bizarre world foisted upon them, but it was a bit like a domino effect where someone just broke the chain in half. Some parts were resolved beautifully while others just kind of dangled.

The characters.

Regarding MC:
Spoiler

Alright, now we're onto the fun part. Tang Mo is a fun guy with a fun ability and an IQ that is somehow perfectly suited for the world they now live in. All is well and good. There's a lovely balance in power between him and the ML, Fu Wenduo. Again, wonderful. However, he had not one, not two, but three OP life saving props. A gold coin that could basically opt him out of disaster once, a teardrop prop that could heal fatal wounds, and most egregiously, a portable walkie talkie checkpoint. Co-parented by the other most OP bastard in the country. Which, on its own, is pretty standard. However, the urgency that MC was supposed to have is all gone. Why would he be nervous, after all? Although they have restrictions, he had multiple cheats to use at any given time. Death is no severe threat to him at any point. A character who treats a dangerous circumstance like a game or a puzzle would be extremely fun, but combined with the MC's more conservative, serious personality, my anxiety levels while reading through his scenarios are similar to those while watching my uncle play sudoku. I know he'll get there eventually, it's just a matter of how. That on its own isn't too much of a problem, because many stories are like that-- the MC hardly ever dies or suffers some permanent loss. However, there's normally some other source of tension that has to exist: romantic, for example, or some stakes regarding loved ones. Some ambition left unrealized. Something. Tang Mo doesn't really have any. All his loved ones pre-apocalypse die before we learn anything about them. He's never in any real fear over his teammates' well being. Even the lofty moral goal of saving humanity seems very secondary to him. Altogether, his story feels like a game of chess. Interesting, but not emotionally gripping.

[collapse]

Regarding ML:
Spoiler

He is so boring to me. Y'all may disagree, I don't give a shit, but his ability fits him to a T: an invulnerable tool for the MC. This guy is a walking, talking plot device and while that is true of every character ever, he doesn't even try to hide it. His main romance with MC lies in their fundamental understanding of each other, often called 'tacit', and his excellence in combat which Tang Mo often used as a gotcha! against other strong characters. I love a good slow burn, and while they do have a nice cooperative relationship, this guy has so little agency despite being a Liutenant Marshal something something. He is generally soft despite his mild antagonisms towards loved ones (limited to around 2.5 people). He is good at fighting. He is also good at bridge. He has compatible mental circuits with Tang Mo. None of the compelling mystery around his ability really gets resolved, and he's largely defined either by his job or by his connection to MC. Stale as f*ck. He's a considerate lover, I'll give him that, but where is the flavor??

[collapse]

Regarding the others:
Spoiler

Chen Shanshan is a great character but no way she's fifteen, ability or not. I don't believe that girl doesn't have a fully developed prefrontal cortex.

Ning Zheng: deserved more screentime. What a guy. Love him.

Grandma Wolf: how the f*ck do you have her claim Mario!Tang Mo as a granddaughter and not include shenanigans the next time they meet??

Eve: Just. Explain. Is it not snow white? How do genes, aliens, metal anatomy and biblical allusion come together? It sounds so cool and yet!

[collapse]

Altogether, I enjoyed it very much. I did get dreadfully attached to many characters, even the tiny ones. Some of the instances do have convoluted logical workings that will take a few moments to understand. I also like the fact that this isn't really an MLM romance; it's an action/horror/survival story that happens to include a MLM romance, which is honestly quite progressive. Recommended for those who like brain exercises and speculation and/or have the emotional bandwidth to get attached to side characters. <<less

The novel was interesting and entertaining, I loved that the protagonist wasn't an innocent guy On the contrary, he knows what he is doing and knows how to defend himself, he works hard to get victory and win the games.
the characters were interesting and their relationships too!

The romance didn't affect the plot, I am I love with this novel.

I recommend it for people who like post apocalyptic and survival with a little romance 🫶.

One of my favorite novels from now on. It was really interesting and I liked the premise, survivors after the Earth went online we're forced to play life and death games. The relationship between the MC (Tang Mo) and ML where slow-burn, but it made it even better when the tension was high! Another thing to note was that it was a POWER COUPLE! The side characters were all very interesting characters and it made the story even more likable. The games where complex and although there where a couple... more>> plot holes that left mysteries unsolved, it did not ruin the ending. When I finished It, I felt indescribable happiness and bitterness because I wished the novel was longer. 240 chapters aren't enough! Though to sum everything up, it was a satisfying novel that I surely recommend to unlimited flow readers. <<less

As high as the rating it has, I couldn't possibly give it above

out of

    • + the game, I like it when the game began, more content to read. It attacked tower, but not solely about strength but more like IQ-based game
    • - the plot wasn't executed as good as Supernatural Movie Actor App (SMAA). I'm not good at english but the mood when read SMAA is like "I couldn't wait what happened next" and "So it was like that, the logic was acceptable" there's one arc that feels different from other arc
      Spoiler

but it because that one arc is actually made by MC a.k.a 'human' about his pov about life and the app more or less

      [collapse]
, this one had more stronger vibe "what MC or ML thought" it would likely happened as what they predicted
    • - lack of characters-in-depth (?) overall
    • - characters actually not as smart and/or cautious as it's depicted
      Spoiler

example: in turkey/eagle game, both MC and ML use their fake name, but in the first eagle game then in the second one, both called out other's real name *confusing af* and yet none cares about it and still used their fake name. Let's be real hearing ML's name should make them show reaction at least but yeah it's not that important

      [collapse]
    • - just like other's already stated, mostly the % said by characters is arbitrary, 60%? No 70% including X (me:????)
    • - the typical danmei, the shou is equivalent as being wife (even using sister-in-law), hah.... why it's so hard to accept male male a.k.a bf

      bf or husband

husband. And the mini theater always mostly brought back this word. NGL it's blargh IMO *barf

I really like the games/instances in this book. Just so you know, this is a slow burn romance, and that the romance only beings near the end of the book. It's a worth reading book. Also when one of the games/instances are over, the MC will explain how it works and ect. JUST READ IT!

First thing first, I rate it 5 star because I'm biased, but I'll try to list some of the things that you may not enjoy.

Let's talk about why you should read this novel, the answer is, game instances. What differentiates TEIO from other infinite flow novels is that the author combined it with apocalypse genre. I read a lot of infinite flow novels and so far only TEIO and ORV have this combo of infinite flow + apocalypse (+ parallel universe for ORV but that is another conversation we need... more>> to have). This makes TEIO stood out from the crowd of horror survival games type of infinite flows.

GAME INSTANCES
TEIO games are just chef kiss. Tips: pay attention to game rules, bosses and clues. Some games were still hard to understand even if you pay a close attention. But for the most game, it is understandable. My favorite game instances are the one that involved a popular racing game character and the other that involved a circus (MC and ML plan were genius in this game).

You may not like this aspect since some games were that hard to perceive at the first read.

GAME BOSSES
Most of the games happened in this universe or space that was inhabited by monster and underground people. The game bosses came from this two specific groups. What's interesting about them is that they know each other and have their own bizarre personalities.

GAME RULES
You would either love this or absolutely despise this. There's sometimes loopholes in the rules that players could abuse or got tricked into. MC being MC, he would make sure that he didn't get scammed by black tower.

MC AND ML
Both are extremely clever and cunning if needed. Are they OP? No, but they were indeed very lucky. As black tower said, luck is a type of strength.

I see some reviews about how MC and ML logic didn't make sense, while it is a valid critism but it could be easily countered. MC and ML have a cheat artifact, it explains why they're willing to take the bet. If you're not fond of MC having a cheat artifact, maybe this novel is not for you.

ROMANCE
Romance made sense, no showing dog food in the middle of apocalypse. Personally, I am not that fond of romance so romance in TEIO didn't bother me that much. But if you like romance, you might find it underwhelming. Tbh, if the author made MC and ML as platonic it still makes sense.

Also the author repeatedly write how MC and ML have a tacit understanding, like sometimes they made an eye contact and both parties miraculously understood what each other meant. You may find this annoying but I couldn't care less about romance. <<less

I had been planning on reading this for a while, but always put it off since 1) there's a lot of chapters and 2) the "late romance" tag with this many parts didn't tell me anything good. However since there's been an increasing popularity of game related sci-fi as of late (eg. Alice in Borderland, etc.) I decided to finally begin with this. EO is, however, probably the best piece of the genre I've read; considering the pure quality of the work and despite the usual dismissiveness BL media gets... more>> in any genre. It is a masterful novel on par with classics of the game genre of both western and asian literature, and for many reasons, it might even be amongst the best. The fluidity of the writing and development of the plot is rare seen in a novel this heavy of world and character construction, not even once does it feel too fast paced or too slow, so without noticing you're already 50 chapters in. Aside from an assorted set of well written, interesting characters that make you involved in their actions and thoughts (be it villains or heroes), and an exciting game setting that keeps you on your toes until the very last chapter, the building process behind each game is probably the strongest point of an already strong novel: the author reaches through many branches of logics and science and doesn't leave it at a surface level like it's been the trend on this genre, but intertwines it with the wits and personalities of bosses and players, their past experiences and abilities to perfectly tailor multiple levels to games that, though difficult, can always be cleared; creating a plot that doesn't need anything but the game and the players of the game, without the involvement of powerful organizations or external powers like other works of fiction.

Usually I'd avoid romance sci-fi, be it BL, GL or hetero romance as it always makes for awkward or even frustrating situations, however the slow but steady romance in this clearly complements the quality of all the other parts. And while I was expecting a rushed romance at the very end, the male lead appears very early on, sparking between the two leads the type of tension that should have allowed Jesus to walk on water: it strongly builds up with each interaction, but it's also with such a butter smooth easiness you (quite literally) won't be able to tell when it releases. Tang Mo and Fu Wenduo are not emotional romance leads by any means, but they're also not cold blooded soldiers or emotionless geniuses in a desolated world. There is such humanity in them that every aspect in their relationship, from friendship, camaraderie and love, is as natural as oxygen.

This is the type of work that makes you feel there are not enough hours in a day, and then, not enough chapters in the story. From beginning to end, it is a maze of riddles, a rollercoaster of surprises and plot twists, an action movie packed read, that you'll be able to enjoy like the first time regardless of how many times you read it.

A last point is that a translation certainly doesn't make it justice, so if you're able to, read it in the original chinese. <<less

I've read this a years ago but to me it is still one of those stories that I'll vividly remember and recommend people who likes fantasy to read even if they are not into yaoi. The world building and the way it was portrayed gave me a clear picture of how scenes happened. It was exciting, intriguing, and I couldn't stop thinking about it until the end. The characters are vivid and consistent to the point that no matter how many stories I've read, I wouldn't forget who Tang Mo... more>> and Fu Wendou are. I even feel sad for some characters who died because a lot of them are lovable and humane in a way.

No story is perfect. But this story is complete enough to leave me thinking of what would the black tower would look like and when I was reading this, I stop a few minutes before continuing because some of the game elements and strategies are hard to digest but easier to understand if you read slower.

3 years ago I do not read yaoi stories.... I do not remember how many stories I've read but The Earth Is Online will definetly be one of the story I would always remember. <<less

I enjoyed the plot. The survival element really left some very bittersweet feelings. The characters were very interesting and some felt very alive and relatable.

But whole mystery element of the instances can be improved a lot. It was like the author knew what was happening but the process explained to us wasn’t clear at all most/some of the time. I filled in the logic myself most of the time the way I though it went but that left a a lot of questions unanswered.
Also, because the novel meant to be ‘Earth’ is online, and the way it was developing by placing the world together, I though for once a Chinese novel will not show its subtle discrimination towards the west but by the end it was like only the east side was mainly ‘online’.

There are some bits done quite cleverly... like characters given an enhancement in physical and mental prowess so things that should obviously be not possible became possible. I just feel the writer had a great idea and they turned it into something excellent but failed to get outstanding. Logic was right at the front in this novel, to those who don’t care - it was great, but logic wasn’t very clear. The only reason I’m writing the bad things here is because apart from this I found everything else great. It’s a diamond with a few cracks but it’s a diamond nonetheless.

Having read this in 2 days, you should probably read it for yourself because it’s very interesting otherwise. The characters are seriously awesome. The reason I rated it low is because I was looking forward to the logic, to those who just skim read the logic this is probably rated (a lot) higher.

a fast-paced survival games that managed to keep my attention until I finished reading it.

what I like:

    • the subtle romance!!!!! I love how they don't use any cheesy words and event to develop MT and FWD relationship. They just talk normally without any dramatic/romantic frail.
    • the black tower monsters are so unique and hilarious. I'd love to know more about the history and relationship between the underground people and the forest monsters!
    • the games are also interesting and fun to read! It's also satisfying to read how TM and FWD solved all those games.
    • it's face-paced, so it's easy for the short-attention-span me to finish lol.
    • and the most important thing: bby FWS needs to be protected at all cost!!!!!
what I don't like:

    • sometimes, the puzzle is impossible to follow or solve if you're not the main character of this danmei lol. Some of the clues are too far-fetched to be detectable.
    • too many deus ex machina moments (ex. Solving games due to random items that TM got from the mario's hat that he got off-screen, or due to TM's random guess even tho the chance of his random guess being true is only 10%)
    • the characters felt flat and not that interesting lol. Thank god for the fast-paced and interesting plot that kept me entertained.

This story has a korean novel feel to it.

If you like The Second Coming of Gluttony, then it is sufficient for you to like this novel, even if you don't like BL. The BL is just a bonus.

The novel is plot centric & you will not find juicy BL. You only get shounen ai & crumbs.

Cons of this novel is that

  • it can get confusing at times, since the games can get complicated. You have to pay attention while reading, bc you can't fill in the blanks of the parts you spaced out on.
  • Also, some chapters that were translated looked like it wasn't proof-read.

The Earth is Online is a novel about an apocalyptic survival puzzle game. Our MC Tang Mo is self-sufficient, calm in temperament and his greatest asset would be his logical thinking. MC is very intelligent, to the point of being OP. He also has quite an OP ability as well. ML is also very intelligent, as smart as MC is, but ML is also very VERY OP in combat.

To say the romance is a 'slow burn' would be an understatement. Although there's bits of fluff, comedy and cuteness sprinkled in... more>> throughout the novel, MC and ML

kiss and do the deed from Chapter 209 onwards.

Their relationship is built on trust, time-spent together and history so the majority of prior chapters is a build up of affection. I wouldn't say they're the most romantic of pairings, I'd say the actual star of this novel wouldn't be the romance but the games themselves.

It's definitely worth the read, but be aware that if you're seeking the thrill of romance it'd be better to read other survival horror novels like Kaleidoscope of Death etc. But if you want well thought out games that are engaging, not scary, with the MC using his brain like a chinese Sherlock then definitely pick this novel up! <<less

The second best Chinese novel I've ever read (QWTFOTD as first) All characters are remarkable (especially the protagonists, Tang Mo and Fu Wenduo), the plot is unique (the games may have exhausted my last remaining brain cells). I never liked slow burning romance but in this story, it was what made me finish the whole book. I also shed a lot of tears at the latter part of the story and now that I managed to finish this, I don't know what to do with life anymore HAHAHHAHA. Highly recommended... more>> for readers who likes action-fantasy bl stories. <<less

Hmm.. To be honest I’m not completely sure how or where to start. I’ve read many posts talking about how good this novel was and while I admit the novel was really interesting, I feel that it may fall just a couple steps short for me.

For one, the translations weren’t edited and made everything confusing. I’m sure it is some of the better translations cnovels, however the constant name placements and pronoun switch as well as the confusing word usage made the scenes feel lacking and even confusing for me... more>> at times. I had to reread whole fight scenes or paragraphs over and over before my brain would accurately replace words and names. I’m grateful for the translations, but reading over the work at least once would have cut down a lot of the mistakes and made reading more smoothly.

Secondly, somewhere towards the end I got kind of bored. I think it may have been around 190-200. It just felt repetitive. I know a lot of these genres can be like that, but he won every instance he played and somehow managed to smart his way through most of them and come how unscathed while others constantly came out battered and bruised. Even FW had troubled in most of them and would encounter difficulties that forced him into a fight but TM didn’t.

i felt like for a world that was life and death in and out of instances, he rarely really experienced any seriously detrimental difficulties. It would have made it more interesting if he had.

To me, this was like a less intense, less interesting, more drawn out version of Global University Entrance Exam. On one hand I kinda feel like this novel is over rated and on another hand, it could be because it was difficult to immerse in.

On a more shallow level, aside from the ending being boring, the romance is basic and there’s not any real sense of romantic feelings between them. It felt more likely that BR was more in love with literally any and everyone more than TM and FW were.

I wouldn’t read it again, but it was a good way to pass my days. <<less

Plot Quality: 4.5/5

Entertainment Value: 5/5

I love this book. I love the plot, the characters; everything! The romance is very muted, but the final few chapters are INCREDIBLY sweet.

I've never been a die hard fan of slow burn, but I loveeeee the gradual development of the MC and ML's romance. They have such a beautiful relationship built on mutual trust, support, and adoration.

This novel is great. The story flows well and you get drawn into the plot and characters. The romance is well hidden within the story and isn't the main part of the story (unlike many shounen-ai and yaoi.....). To be honest I binged this novel in about 5 days which is pretty impressive for me since I don't seem to finish many novels. The characters aren't two-dimensional which is a great plus. I guess there are a couple of tiny side characters that are there to boost the MC and... more>> ML but they're so small that we can just ignore them (lol). A lot of the games confused me since I'm not that smart and the fact there are so many hidden clues that the MC seems to find indiscriminately (the ML to I guess). However, at the end of the day, all the games have a main goal that you can understand and the MC + ML drag you along to victory (which always feels satisfying). The main "villain" would I guess be the tower in itself but
Spoiler

the monsters/characters they meet during the games are a part of the tower and part of the "villain" in the story. You come to like and despise the characters that the MC meets in instances and games, and also come to love or hate certain characters on "Earth" that the MC + ML meets.

The ending to me felt kinda anticlimactic and climatic at the same time if that makes sense? If you wanna know how it all ends read the novel~. TBH I wanted a certain character to get more spotlight time but oh well, cannon fodder it be. <<less
